We As A Fandom Need To Talk More About The Fact That Dazai's Body Has To Be Covered In Scars, Right?

We as a fandom need to talk more about the fact that Dazai's body has to be covered in scars, right? Like it says in the Dark Era light novel that the reason Dazai has so many bandages is from all his injuries he sustained working in the Mafia, and even if it's been some time now, and the bandages likely provide Dazai some form of traumatic comfort, if he didn't actually need them, wouldn't they have taken them off when he went to prison? I've got no proof of this, but if they took away Fyodor's hat, I doubt they would have let Dazai keep his bandages on because it's part of his a e s t h e t i c. His body is probably riddled in scars that he uses the bandages to hide, but treats it like it's just something he wears for fun because he's Dazai and being vulnerable for once would ruin the image he's got going on

Atsushi Trivia From the Guidebooks

Atsushi Trivia From The Guidebooks

"What color would you compare yourself to?" "White, because my hair is white and it's also the furthest color from Akutagawa."

Man, I love this kid so much

I would say that bsd gets so many people into classic literature but to be fair I think it attracts the type of people who would get into it anyway and just needed an excuse.

Was in Barnes and Noble today, and I found a collection of Dazai's works titled "The Real Osamu Dazai." And this was on the back:

Like....why. How. I understand if you just see edits and stuff you'd think he's the main character, but like, watch one episode, read one chapter, and anyone with basic media literacy could tell that he isn't the main character. Even google could tell you that. Why does this keep happening??? My boy Atsushi deserves more than this.

One of my favourite things about Bungou Stray Dogs is how Asagiri manages to capture the many colors and facets of human relationships. There is friendship, camaraderie, brotherhood, respect, awe, and then there is jealousy, inferiority, grudges, distrust. There are bonds forged between people who suffered the same pain and end up on the same boat. There are blends of respect and fascination formed among those who thrive in the dark but yearn to keep the light. There is deep affection and empathy between people who are used to solitude and sorrow, but found themselves helping each other up on their feet. There are those who took the responsibility upon themselves to raise a child in such a way that their own childhood should not be repeated, or simply to be at peace with themselves. There are words spoken in remembrance of a good friend, and words that are left unspoken. There are mistakes that can’t be remedied, cracks that cannot be mended, and actions that cannot be undone.

There is also guilt, grief, distrust, suspicion, resentment, hatred. There is friendship built like a castle of glass, on shyness and comfort, pride and consideration, and then there is guilt and regret when the castle shattered to pieces. There are broken bonds that crawl back to form insurmountable walls between those who used to be friends. There is mutual suspicion between those who are too sharp, too perceptive for their own good. There are people who started on the same boat, but are as careful as they are manipulative around each other. There are relationships that form out of convenience and necessity, and there are those that continue to develop into something almost familial. There are those brought together in battles, and those that thrive in peace. People who started out being wary of each other can learn to earn each other’s trust, and those who started in the same place may slowly grow apart as their paths point to different directions. There are relationships sprouting from guilt and an attempt at redemption. There is friendship that could have been if not for feelings of jealousy and inferiority. There are selfish, misdirected emotions that seek to appease one’s thirst for recognition and fear of abandonment, at the expense of one’s own self confidence and respect.

And of course, there is growth. Mutual growth happens when people not only understand and empathize with each other, but also possess the courage and strength needed to pull themselves and their companion out of the dark waters. This growth is precisely why their relationships are so satisfying to observe and appreciate.

I like to think that, the first time Dazai met Chuuya, he made fun of Chuuya's height without realizing from his position on the ground that he was only five centimeters taller. And when he did find out, he went "ah. well, in too deep to stop now, ima just go with it" and kept up the short jokes, despite the fact that they were practically the exact. same. height.

Ok, I'm convinced at this point that instead of teaching English, schools should just start getting their students into bsd, because honestly, the effects are about the same.

Like, what is this fandom??? As far as anime go, it's sort of known, but it's not even close to mainstream, and then you join the fandom to discover that it's actually huge.

-The fans will write five thousand word analyses, complete with textual evidence, about anything and everything, and they'll all be more well written and deeper than their thematic essay for English class.

-They won't even think twice about reading a bunch of classics to understand their favorite characters, and then they'll happily write you an analysis of a Japanese classic written in the mid-twentieth century and how it connects to their favorite character. They'll casually read Crime and Punishment, a book english teachers have no hope of having their students read in general, let alone for fun, and they'll do it and then give their theories about how it may connect to the villain's powers. They also end up just getting into classic literature in general.

-Ask them to give a summary of the book they had to read, they'll stare at you blankly, but ask them about the chain of abuse vs the savoir chain and you will hear a psychological breakdown on the concept of abuse, and how different characters treat others differently because etc etc etc.

-Not even the top criminal defense lawyer could compete with a bungou stray dogs fan explaining why Chuuya Nakahara, a man who is an executive in the Mafia, a man who has killed many people, has gotten involved in smuggling and all sorts of illegal activities, is actually a good person and deserves all the sunlight and happiness in the world.

-And the art that comes out of it??? The fanfictions, the fanart, the edits- I've read fanfiction that made me feel more than a published book ever will. Seen fanart that belongs in a museum, and the edits are some of the coolest stuff known to man.

-And they're just so low key??? Like seriously, don't teach English, teach bungou stray dogs. You'd get better results that way.
