not poc but one of my favorite ships atm which happens to be straight has a character that’s supposed to serve as poc rep (can’t say they are technically poc since they aren’t exactly human but they’re dark skinned and their va is black) also the other character is mixed race you can probably guess who I’m talking about but anyways that ship and meljay are like the only two ships I sort of like that are straight due to how poorly written het relationships tend to be written and both of those ships received a ton of backlash when things were revealed about them that made their ship more nuanced yk when those ships actually became more fleshed out both fandoms started to antagonize those ships pretty heavily I’m not saying those ships were perfect either but it upsets me when het ships are actually well developed and still manage to serve as other forms of rep for ppl and they’re still inherently looked down upon cuz they’re het and assumed to automatically be bad as a result
