Armand really picked the worst guy to turn into a vampire and run away from.

the real reason book!armand didn't take daniel with him when he was feeding is that daniel would've become soo jealous if he saw armand do that whole easeful death thing with some other guy

thinking about Armand giving in to his weakness every few years or so and returning to Daniel for a night or two, and sometimes Daniel even remembers, and when he does, he thrashes in Armand's embrace and hurls insults at him bc clearly it's Armand's fault that he's being such a shitty husband to the wife he once claimed to love and a shitty dad to the kids he never wanted, and for a night or two he can pretend that the fault lies not in him just being a shitty person sometimes who cares more about his work than the family he created; and Armand, of course, believes his words bc clearly he poisoned Daniel from the inside so irrevocably that now he can’t form any lasting bonds with other mortals, and it doesn't even occur to him that it might just be your ex lashing out at you bc he's angry and still so very, very heartbroken at being dumped bc maybe, just maybe he still loves you and has, despite being forced to forget you ever existed, not stopped loving you even once
My ideal version of dating someone would be them threatening to murder me if I don’t run away and hide, followed by them obsessively stalking me for about four years (following me all around the world, standing over my bed while I am sleeping, appearing out of nowhere and asking me morally charged questions, etc.), while they become more and more persistent over time and force me to spend more and more time together until I eventually realize that they actually don’t want to kill me after all. And when I address this to them, they act confused and say, 'No, how could you think that? I love you,' and then they buy me an island.

I love how one day Armand was chasing and tormenting Daniel, and the next he was like “alright what’s so interesting about that damn book? Let me see the cover, explain it to me!”
Do you guys ever think about the fact Armand never got to have a normal life EVER? Everyone else did, to some degree. They grew up, they had jobs, they had families. Armand was enslaved from the time he could form memories. And how he likely sees himself in Daniel, another young man so frightened and involved in sex work in some ways? How the ONLY thing he wanted was for Daniel to live the normal, mortal life he never did and never can. And how Daniel hates him for denying him it? How Armand knows he is the reason Daniel would be throwing away his normal, mortal life. How perhaps he wouldn't be so different from his own maker, watching Daniel please others for him and eventually stealing his life. And how Daniel cannot understand why Armand doesn't love him enough to want him to stay forever, how he could just doom Daniel to becoming old and weak before dying
the thing we all need to remember about book!DM is that in that wretchedly romantic scene in Pompeii where they kiss for the first time and Daniel thinks about how Armand looks like a giant bug and he's in love........... the thing to remember...... is that the whole time, while Daniel is having all of these sweeping romantic thoughts and getting kissed and bitten, Armand is rocking double denim

loving the 'Yes king fuck that old man' energy that the fanbase is bringing to armand/daniel but my main issue with it is that people are calling daniel the old man. if anyone is the old man here it's armand. what is this 60 year old man doing with a guy ten times his age.
the tragedy of armand in dubai is the fact that he genuinely likes daniel. yes, there is a threat there, and he hates how good at digging daniel is (as every liar despises the truth), but despite it all, for some unknown to us reason, he has an outstanding amount of sympathy for a boy he tried to once kill. that’s why at the end he is getting outsmarted and beaten. it’s because once his emotions stepped in, he wasn’t as guarded anymore (should i quote, unaware of the plotting around him because he was in love?).
armand tortured daniel back in sf, thinking him unimportant. it was louis who saved him. and yet in dubai there is a weird shift of the dynamics. in dubai it’s louis who messes with daniel’ parkinson’s and armand is the one to stop him. someone who likes to chase his mortal victims and gets the thrill out of them begging, suddenly decided that this mortal didn’t deserve that kind of a treatment. it’s louis raiding daniel’s memories and armand trying to clear the air, thinking it have gone too far. it’s armand apologising to daniel after louis raided his mind, explaining to him that he was invited there as a guest, trying to maintain a hospitable atmosphere in the house. it’s armand taking care of his levodopa transfusion and it’s armand getting weirdly intense about the last dinner and dropping that mysterious sentence “i do hope you’ll join us”, as if he actually cared.
what conclusions might be there apart from the obvious? in san francisco he wouldn’t have cared if daniel died, that’s how inconsequential he was to him, and for some reason fifty years later armand is weirdly protective of him. he still stays in the shadows, and only shows his concern once there is a crisis on the horizon. armand likes him, and for someone who never wanted the interview to happen he is weirdly drawn to their conversations and wants to actually tell him things about himself. something once again he would have never done in san francisco. if that’s all not a proof that the dm happened in between those decades, then i don’t know what is.
