SPOILERS AHEAD!
Man, I remember someone on twitter saying that this image sums up their friendship perfectly well. Let's talk about that.
On Twitter @specterlobo already stated that Shirakumo pulls Aizawa along while Yamada pushes him from behind, clearly worded in the main manga and vigilantes series.
But like there's also focus. In the Kurogiri arc we see Aizawa focusing more on Oboro and trying to bring him back- or get more information as someone who idolized him and felt extreme guilt for what happened- Aizawa follows Oboro.
Yamada however clearly focused more on Aizawa which went mostly unnoticed (cause Yamada's BEHIND HIM), comforting and defending him as Aizawa continued to put his mind onto- really, the past. Yamada follows Aizawa.
But yknow what?
This dynamic changed. Even if just for a little bit.
MANGA SPOILERS
Guys so- I just noticed that Mic calling out for Shirakumo is the final push he needed to break out. Aizawa has been calling out to Shirakumo for a while here and as soon as Hizashi joins him-
They're a trio. Never forget that.

Guys it really looks like Mic's head is turned to Aizawa- who's looking at Sushi if you zoom in.
Forgive me if I'm looking too deep into this but Sushi could be a stand-in for Oboro. Mic is focused on Aizawa, who in turn is too focused on the past and Oboro to see Hizashi- Thoughts?

Listen- I have a piece for Oboro's bday but Im tired and want to do THREE pieces for him. I might as well put more effort in them after taking an extra day. My ideas:
Hizashi JUMPING Oboro first thing in the morning, flinging himself at the birthday boy, scREAMING "HAPPY BDAY, O-BRO!" -they're both grinning ear to ear.
Nemuri giving him a simple letter and a peck to the cheek. Oboro's clouds turn r e d and so does his face, there's something akin to smoke coming out his ears. Man's malfunctioning with the dopiest smile on his face
Here- I- Im struggling with what I should draw Shota doing with Oboro. HELP! Im thinking Oboro resting his head on Shota's who then sighs "happy birthday, Shirakumo" but not in a mean way

HC: Mic takes every student with a verbal activated/ sound/ lung quirk under his wing
His ARMY
Jiro: Mic takes the most interest with her due to her ability to cancel him out. Some respect earned there. Helps her with support gear (HAGE), building resistance and balancing her passions with hero work. They 100% have sound battles. Very sassy mentor - student vibe going on, where they both still make fun of each other. I SAID she interns with him during her 2nd year.
Koda: After the finals arc he apologizes profusely- like whispering (still uncomfortable talking) but Mic responds in sign! They repair the damage starting from there. Mic helps build his confidence and voice. Is very patient when he goes non-verbal. Both hate bugs.
Shinso: When Aizawa is busy with Eri or his problem children, Mic trains Shinso's voice. Making it louder without damaging his throat and such. ALSO! Vocal lessons. It helps to have a hero know how hard it is to mimic voices.
More on Shinso (a stupid HC really) Mic helps him change his voice faster. Friday Night Funkin style - Like a fun game between them where Mic starts off with 4 notes/ voices, makes a song of sorts which Shinso has to memorize and repeat back to him. Mic then gets faster, more complex, holding voices here and there.
SHOJI. Its not that Shoji can weaponize his voice- again its with safely amplifying his voice which would would a lot in rescue situations. They probably have a hella complex handshake thing going on.
Manga Fukidashi: With Mics frequency changes- he can also mimic sounds. He helps Manga understand these sounds better and how to create them so that he can also mimic them, giving his quirk more onomatopoeia characteristics. Also- throat damage again. Mic gives tips on that as his quirk can also irritate his throat when overused.
Kosei Tsuburaba: LiSTEN- Helping increase his lung capacity. Mics lungs are fucking crazy, and the time he can hold a single note is insane. That's helped by both his quirk and the breathing excersizes Mic does. He recommends these to Tsuburaba and runs him through several of them. It helps strengthen Tsuburaba's solid air and allows him to make more air solid in a single breath. I also think Mic would be the perfect person to test "Air Prison" against as it is sound proof.

If you don't know by now, one of my favorite HCs for Mic is that he can mimic voices due to the fact he can change the frequency of his voice.
Another one of my favorite concepts for Mic is him becoming a villain after UA does nothing about Oboro's passing. When he lashes out constantly, he becomes expelled. Shattering all hope he had for hero society.

After the War Arc
Two thoughts I had- MANGA SPOILER WARNING!
Sushi
After cleaning himself up, Hizashi goes to the hospital with Toshinori. After making the medical decisions on behalf of Aizawa and checking on him- he left after hours. He left to go to Nemuris apartment. To pick up Sushi.
He brings Sushi to UA, tries explaining the situation to Eri as best he can.
"Hey, there, anklebiter... Remember Ms Midnight...? She- she wants your help! Think you're up to it, kid?"
"This is Sushi. He's- He's Ms Midnight's cat- Yeah! Like the cats on the clothes Mr Aizawa got for you! We have to take care of him for a while, right, Eri? I'm going to have to be away for a while too but the other teachers will stay right here to help."
He has enough energy to pretend to be Sushi- he has to. For Eri. Hizashi puts on a goofy voice and makes Sushi wave a paw "Hi there Eri! I can't wait to become your new friend!"
Dead
Hizashi starts looking at Aizawa weirdly. Giving him side glances. Avoiding eyecontact. Eyes fast. Aizawa thinks its because he lost an eye and a leg and doesn't pay any mind to it. Hizashi does it because he's thinking of the fact that Aizawa's supposed to be dead. It was for Shota. Not Oboro.
I don't have a favourite tro-
The trope where person A realizes how much Person B has done for them in the past- they didnt notice in the past due to what they were going through... what they were both going through but B stayed strong enough to care for A both and NEVER asked for anything in return.
Yes this post is specifically about Aizawa and Mic. Yes. Yes it is.
Thinking about Hizashi screaming at the media for trying to get a scoop out of a 16 year old boy who just lost his friend. Screaming at them after too many times of them trying to get a look at and EXPLOIT this grieving child for monetary gain.
Willing to look bad to keep Shota away from this. Willing to have his name dragged through the mud as a kid so that Shota didn't feel worse. Willing to help.
Shota never noticed.
Hizashi hates the media. He had to deal with the brunt of them after the incident. All the articles they wrote about him eventually faded away. Seeing them still get away with and continue trying to exploit kids leaves a disgusting taste in his mouth. He remembers the stress of keeping Shota away from them, the stress of seeing them write about him, the stress of watching his friend fall apart, the stress of them both falling apart while adults did nothing to help. Hizashi took that weight and will continue to do so. Nobody is messing with his friends.
VILLAIN AIZAWA I 👀👀👀👀👀👀

Villain aizawa is an underground villain. Very unknown. To the public hes like an urban legend mostly cause of the way he kills.

He hangs people. With his scarf. In public spaces. Around the neck, yank up onto a lamppost, tie them to it and leave. He hardly says anything. He's all wrapped up in his scarf too and moves rather slowly. Cryptic

ANOTHER AU! CAUSE I DON'T HAVE TIME TO DRAW
Underground hero AU
Present Mic is an underground hero. "But Dingus! Mic's loud??? How the fuck???" Within this AU Hizashi heavily focused on changing his quirks frequency range instead of going for the loudest sound he could. This means by the time he graduated, he had it fine tuned- a vocal range from 10 Hz to 30K Hz. Now with this range he can produce sounds that you couldn't hear at all. Pretty useful stealth weapon.
Hizashi in this AU is BOTH pro and underground. Present Mic being his pro-hero persona (its cause he wanted to be a radio host so bad and he needs an outlet for all his BOMBASTIC energy) and his underground hero self having literally no information on him.
Appearance (I might recycle the actual outfit from the Eraserhead outfit I did a while ago but change a few things cause I love that design sm): Hair tied up in a high ponytail, bandana over his mouth and neck, black tighter fit, defensive padding, reinforced knuckles and boots.
The bandana is there to both hide his identity better and to cover his mouth. This is so that the enemy can't see it open for when he uses his quirk. They don't know that his quirk is Voice. They just know that whenever this new prick is around the effects can vary, like:
Uneasiness
Dizziness
Nausea
Anxiety
Headache
Worse cases involve tinnitus and internal organ damage
But he can also do the opposite, in hostage situations he can help those calm down easily (please listen to the frequency of love) without saying a word. He daren't go any lower than 10 HZ however because 7 HZ is deadly and capable of bursting all organs.
Along with this, he can easily change his voice. Making concealment simple, mimicking easy and intimidation hit hard.
GUYS- SO Mic used to call Aizawa "Prince of Sleep" right? Right. They said they'd shorten the nickname further- POS- PLS 💀💀💀💀💀

Okay but seriously: Speaking between Japanese and English (CD dramas, thank you so much. It’s really interesting to listen to as well)
On that Japanese/ English note, please- he- bruh “Do you understand?” from the CD dramas has me floored every. single. time.
Hand movements- MOVEMENTS IN GENERAL! Really expressive, his WHOLE BODY. I can tell the animators had fun/ hated him HUASDOUH

He sleep talks... :’) it’s so cute THANK YOU CD DRAMAS: “I can’t eat anymoreeeee~~~” “but don't you also just get jealous, Eraser?” PLEASE IM CRYING
He really loves his jobs, you can tell. Always upbeat, trying his hardest to keep his students engaged and OBVIOUSLY LOVES BEING A DJ and that passion is infectious.
He's SUCH a good friend (AGAIN CD DRAMAS- Him remembering All Mights b-day and helping Sho with social situations and understanding social cues- like when Shota kept asking how old Toshinori was UHSADOUA)
On the good friend note: Always looking out for Shota and trying to get him to join him going out. He always asks Shota out for food cause man literally only eats those jelly packets/ shit cause he doesn’t care, like food is food. He's ALWAYS looking out for Shota.
Weirdly, his temper and high-key violent tendencies. With his character being so obnoxiously positive, it’s nice to have a balance and know that he can and will stick up for himself. It's clear he doesn't like being pushed around and angry Hizashi is always a win
The way the Japanese VA (Hiroyuki Yoshino) voices him when he's serious- his voice drops and it HITS SO H A R D
JUXTAPOSITIONS. Man is filled with them and it makes him SO INTERESTING. He hates, or at the very least dislikes, the media though he's flashy and is a broadcaster himself. He's loud with his positive emotions but shoves negative ones terribly deep down. Give us the reasoning. Especially the media one. Man was so ready to throw hands and FOR WHAT??

YO IM TIRED AND THAT LAST SKETCH TOOK A LOT OUTTA ME SO HAVE MY VILLAIN MIC IDEAS WHILE I TRY TO DESIGN HIM:
There are two wolves in my brain.
One says chaotic egotistical villain Mic, one who sings his own songs while flattening cities with his voice. One who will change his outfit based on his music genre taste for that month, like album eras. One who knows that, to gain any sort of intel, the heros would have to listen to his underground podcast show and music. One who'd let news reporters survive for FREE CLOUT BAYBEE. Most definitely has fans.
One says kind villain Mic, one who oozes the same charisma and friendliness as Hero Mic. A distinct goal instead of just "for fun". A brilliant mind who works by himself, making sure nobody gets caught in the crossfire. However, one who can switch up real fast, not hesitating to use violence to those deserving. Much more like a threatening whisper than an upfront scream. Burning anger towards hero society for training children soldiers and using them for entertainment, forgetting about them when harmed or worse. He refuses to harm them.
Both go by "Hizashi Yamada" but don't mind Present Mic
IF I blend these ideas together somehow... All I can think about is: he's sitting by his microphone, on air, answering questions- all upbeat, laughing, like a normal podcast host! And yknow someone insults him or something. He shifts in his seat, bringing the mic closer and you can't hear the smile anymore. A disgruntled sigh before -
"I'm more than burst eardrums, listener." A direct threat.
MANGA SPOILERS
I had the heartbreaking revelation that Hizashi can blame himself for... all the hero deaths in the war arc.
Previously, I thought that Hizashi could realistically blame himself for what happened to Aizawa (himself being the reason Aizawa was there in the first place) and Midnight (being away at the police station instead of fighting) but he can blame himself for ALL the hero deaths.
Hear me out. He was in the front lines to destroy the incubation chamber for Shigaraki. That was his one job. He did break the chamber, yes, but Tomura still got up. The moment he broke the incubation chamber was also the moment the doctor went to wake him up. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT HIZASHI JUST WASN'T FAST ENOUGH and it isn't hard to believe that.
The main cause of death in the arc was Shigaraki's decay, because he woke up. Hizashi failed.
Now imagine, Hizashi replaying that day over and over and over again while waiting for Aizawa to wake up. Imagine him remembering that split moment and everything comes crumbling. He failed everyone.
He. Wasn't. Enough.
And so many more people were hurt and... he's sitting there...
Unharmed and perfectly fine.
