Currently reading Dracula for the first time ever and my brain is in the obsession stage of looking at everything going "How do I make this about Jonathan/Dracula/vampires?"

(Also made the grave error (/j) of watching Nosferatu first and dude- even knowing they were similar enough for Bram Stoker's wife to sue the original movie, I didn't expect it to be THIS similar O.o)

How are you gonna complain that Nosferatu was too sexual as if Gothic literature didn't originate from social rebellion? As if Bram Stoker's novel didn't have sexual undertones? As if Nosferatu didn't have sexual undertones already? I understand if you didn't expect such upfront sexuality, but don't hate on the movie for it. If it's not for you, that's okay! Taboo topics aren't for everyone; Just remember that Gothic literature is meant to be taboo. A social rebellion. Expressing the dark, barbaric, animalistic, and shunned aspects of human nature. I haven't watched the film YET; But I have taken a course SPECIFICALLY on Gothic literature {and passed}, read Bram Stoker's Dracula, watched both original Nosferatu's multiple times, and immersed myself in Gothic literature for a while now. Gothic horror IS sexual in its essence. It's grotesque and disgusting. Revolting and shameful. That's the point. It's also sensual, emotional, despondent, and FULL of metaphors. It’s EROTIC. If the genre isn't for you, or if certain aspects aren't for you, that's okay. Everyone has their limits, everyone deserves their boundaries.

Mankind now struggles to rebuild from the most destructive war in history but evil never stays gone for long and new would-be gods are already positioning themselves to take advantage of the chaos and confusion. Wait… Did someone say Dracula? Wait, you heard Dracula? I heard Cthulhu. I think we both have been working too many night shifts.

Looking for LGBT+ 18+ Voice Actors and a Script Beta Reader and an artist.

Looking for Voice Actors who are members of the LGBT+ community who are willing to volunteer their time and effort to voice some characters for our LGBT+ production house. The roles are for our Audio-Drama; the Invisible Man Reduxes. The needed roles are as follows:

oh man i love your Renfield and Dracula art and you're taking requests??? can you draw Art with his three terriers? bonus if Lucy is included (but yeah, if you're not feeling like drawing multiple dogs, just Art is good. or just Art and Lucy. i love Art)

I love Art too, and to be honest I was already planning on doing this, so the ask just pushed me along into getting on with it. I did have to learn how to draw dogs, but that’s a useful thing to learn.

Also doing cute drawings where these characters can be happy before the true horrors take hold brings me joy.

The sad part of the poor captain’s determination to make it to England is that, in a way, it would be better if he didn’t.  Because he’s bringing a vampire to a place with a lot more prey than one ship can provide.

And he doesn’t know that!  He has no idea what’s killing his men, or that it would be a bad idea to let it get on shore.  The captain is doing his very best to be brave and honorable in a terrifying situation, and that’s part of why it’s so tragic.

Anyway, in an AU version of this story, this would be Dracula:

There's something hilarious about how so much subsequent media has positioned Vampires and Werewolves as, like, binary opposite entities, and then you read Dracula (1897) and realize that wolves are that guy's preferred solution to every problem. You'd say something to Dracula about "ah yes, werewolves, vampires' great eternal enemies," and he'd just be like "you mean my subcontractors?"

All I can think of when I read this is the scene from the what we do in the shadows show with Nandor saying "We drank the blood of some people, and the people were on drugs and now I'm a wizard"

Given the amount of cocaine that Teddy Lobo is constantly running on, biting Teddy would probably get Dracula wizard high. Just suddenly turning into a bunch of bats who are all flying into eachother and screaming. Ripping apart a few randoms with his claws. I believe that he bit Teddy at some point in the process of making him a familiar and I firmly believe that this put Dracula behind on his plans like at least an hour as he struggled to maintain his physical form and stop flying apart as a bunch of cocaine-addled bats.
