entendiendo a Apple, la vercion de una royal

Volvi a ver la serie de ever after high, una caricatura que ame , y viendo varios comentarios, me di cuenta de que al menos , en el fandom latino, hubo por mucho tiempo odio a este personaje, incluso tachandola de la verdadera villana ...pero , es cierto?

Empezare diciendo que no, villana no es , antagonista , si, pero creo que ponen mucho peso en los hombros de una adolescente, incluso me atrevería a decir que, este odio esta realzado por el estereotipo de "la buena y la mala mujer ", aún si solo se trata de un desacuerdo por diferentes visiones del mundo

Digo , veamos a otros personajes que creo hicieron algo peof, desde blanca nieves y la reina malvada , siendo madres tóxicas que forzaron a sus hijas ser igual a ellas , aún en contra de su voluntad o deseos , una obligando a su hija a ser perfecta todo el tiempo, y obligándola a hacer cosas moralmente cuestionables, aún si esto iba en contra de lo que quería su hija , mientras la otra traumatizo a una escuela entera , y a pesar de que cambio su destino (sacado de los libros , lo hizo al invadir el país de las maravillas), forzaba a su hija a ser su calco , lo único a su favor, es que en el fondo crelleron que era lo mejor para sus hijas , pero , saben por quien?

Por el director grimm , al menos en la caricatura, el a mostrado tener un gran poder en el mundo de ever after high, después de todo , el enseña a los que serán los futuros líderes, además de poseer un objeto tan poderoso como el libro de cuentos, adoctrino a generaciones de niños para que crelleran un montón de mentiras , y aceptarán un destino , sin importar si sus destinos eran la muerte misma , o si su final feliz era a costa de otros , todo porque de niño perdió a su hermanito, (el menos en la serie ) , el fue indispensable para que la reina malvada le gustara tanto su destino que hizo algo peor , condenando una nación y separando familias, fue muy posiblemente el que empezó a animar la corrupción y mentiras de varios líderes, solo para que conserven sus legados , líderes como blanca nieves, y que le dijo a los niños que desaparecerían, o algo peor , si no seguían sus destinos...niños como Apple

Apple fue otra víctima más de la propaganda de grimm , pero ustedes dirán, " pues ella parece más preocupada por su destino que por otra cosa ?" , que tendrían razón, admito que apple hizo muchas cosas cuestionables por eso , como liberar a la reina malvada , aún si fue por accidente, y aún si fue por manipulación, no quita que ayudo a casi destruir la escuela , también que su relación de amistad con raven llego a ser muy tóxica por lo mismo, la presióna todo el tiempo a que haga algo que no quiere , cuando raven le dice egoísta, raven tiene un punto...pero no quiere decir que para Apple, y la forma de ser criada , raven también es egoísta

Lo explicaré tomando en cuenta como son muchos de los líderes de ever after high, ya saben , como el director , les enseñaron a todos a seguir su destino porque si , porque si nada cambia , los villanos siempre serán derrotados , aún si su maldad es producto de su crianza, o de simplemente, tener que seguir un destino, a los rebel se les enseñó que por nacer en cierta familia, para mantener un orden devian ser los malos , y a los royal que aún si no eran perfectos, tenían que serlo , y seguir las reglas sin cuestionar, sin ver por los demás, nada cambia , todo se mantiene, a todos se les enseñó eso , y a la mínima duda , la manipulación por parte de personas como grimm o blncanieves , o incluso de la propia familia, eran cosas comunes , si se salían de la historia, sea por lo que sea , solo te volvían a empujar a la fila ...al menos en apariencia

Porque hablemos de ese tema , como la mayoría de royals no don del todod buenos , ya hablamos de Blancanieves, pero veamos a las princesas, y como realmente, la mayoría no cumplían con las reglas de lo que significaba ser una royal , aún si esto traía concecuencias graves , miremos a briar, una chica que muy seguramente disfruto de los privilegios que su estatus le daba, más no quiso seguir con las responsabilidades, lo que la llevo a desaparecer un objeto valioso y peligroso, el libro , sin importar nada más, solo para que ella pueda seguir en ese punto donde disfruta del privilegio, más no de la responsabilidad, esto vuelve a briar mala ?, no , claro que no, se volvió más consciente que seguir su destino no siempre es la mejor opción, cambio de perspectiva , era una niña asustada que no quería perderlo todo

Luego tenemos ashlyn, cuya historia es ...verdaderamente triste, teniendo que soportar familiares tóxicos, y muy posiblemente siendo sirvienta en su propio hogar, además,a pesar de ser una princesa , se le ve trabajar , diciéndonos que ella no es como sus amigas , claro , se le prometió un final feliz, pero hasta entonces, su posible vida de "princesa",se le fue privada de cualquier privilegio posible, y talves seguiría a si por dios sabe cuánto, buscar una distracción en una pareja no suena tan malo en su contexto

Pero con esto quiero llegar a que la mayoría, ni siquiera la propia reina (como ya mencioné), estaba tan comprometida con lo que significaba ser una royal que apple, a diferencia de la mayoría de estudiantes , que solo disfrutaban del beneficio o concecuencisas de sus cuentos , ella vivía todos los días comprometida con ser la princesa perfecta, por fuera y dentro , esto visto en" las labores de Apple", teniendo que encargarse siempre de los problemas de casi toda la escuela, mientras otros vivían o veina lo malo o bueno de sus destinos , sin ver la otra parte , ella siempre supo que le pasaria, y solo lo acepto

Apple siempre trato de ser perfecta , hizo lo que pudo para ganarse su destino , la obligaron a ser perfectas , al punto de que aún cuando hace cosas malas , la mayoría son resultado de la manipulación , o un hechizo, mientras las otras princesas hacían lo que querían y solo esperaban a su príncipe , ella hizo todo lo posible para asegurar su destino

Si yo pasara toda mi vida estudiando y esforzándome para una recompensa, porque de no lograrlo implicaba la muerte no solo mía, si no de mis seres queridos , solo que para cuando estoy por lograrlo , por culpa de alguien ajeno todo mi esfuerzo se arruine , yo estaría furiosa ... y aún a si apple no lo está, enojado esta el director grimm , ella solo está asustada por todas las mentiras que le contaron de niña , claro , esto no la hace menos responsable de sus actos , y no quita que ella seguía siendo una persona privilegiada en este mundo , pero si nos dice que apple fue el resultado de muchas generaciones de engaño ,privilegio desmedido , y un gran miedo al cambio , todo este desastre fue culpa de más de una persona, en su mayoría adultos que pudieron hacerlo mejor , no de una adolescente con problemas con su madre

EAH rewrite intro

sooo, I've been thinking about how the world of ever after is really messed up so instead of, I dunno, sitting here and enjoying my tea and a show that's about 12 year old, I'm trying to rewrite parts of it (at least parts of the worldbuilding)

PART 1

Gather round and let us tell you a tale of the world of Ever After and our part in the paths of our beloved characters.

Long before EAH was established, two great magic wielders called the brother Grimm, Jacob and Wilhelm, saw a glimpse into our world aka the readers world (see book 3 Shannon hale ch. 24) the brothers thought we were gods so tried to make a connection to us. through trial and error they made the storybook of legends but it wasn't what they wanted. it told them past present and future and every reality in between. discouraged they gave up and made a school to help kids control their magic abilities. but it wouldn't stay that way.

PART 2

while the school was being built Jacob got married and had kids. the older brother, Giles, was more quiet and reserved compared to his younger brother Milton. they grew up going to the school and apprenticing under their uncle and dad. they knew about the Book but were told that they couldn't see it till they were older, but Milton being the curious and energetic 16yo he was sneaked a peak aaaand instantly regretted it. it showed him very horrible reality with wars death and famine. there were good ones but the bad ones had a hold on him and he was determined to find a way to stop it.

PART 3

it went exactly according to plan except step 4. he found and edited a spell that was like a subtle mind control that got more extreme over time, but when he cast it, the spell wasn't strong enough. where the pull should have been like a heavy chain on a chihuahua it was more like a piece of yarn on a Doberman. Milton only knew one person who could cast the spell. Giles. he had been traveling around learning all sorts of magic. Milton sent him a message asking for help casting a protection spell and Giles, happy to hear from his brother who hadn't been responding to his letters, readily agreed. he got there and Milton and him cast the spell. Milton claimed that part of the spell they had to sign the book. unbeknownst to Giles, Milton didn't actually sign it. Giles was now tied to the book. Milton practically shoved him out the door so Giles left and ever after high started with its first year of students.

the whole plot of ever after high centers around generational trauma and forced destiny…I think the fact that the only characters who’s family’s we have met besides apple and raven (the two main characters) are Maddie, Kitty, and Lizzie really proves that the wonderlandians are the heart of the show and manage to depict the shows thesis really effectively even if they are mostly used as comedic relief/minor antagonism

I feel like Apple and Daring were rlly close when they were little. They were kinda forced to be around each other bcuz of their parents, but I think it turned into a genuine friendship. However as they got older and the pressure to literally be in love with each other increased, they drifted apart. Especially bcuz apple is a lesbian and I hc daring as aroace, so the immense pressure put on them to love someone who they literally could not love romantically rlly hindered their relationship and they felt awkward around each other, only hanging out for appearances rlly.

y'know how in ATLA, the writers put sokka in a hole as their B plot, because if he stumbled into the A plot, he'd be too smart and solve the problem in like 2 minutes and the whole episode would be over in 5 minutes? so they stuck him in a hole in the ground for the entire episode to prevent that.

it's kind of funny how they did that in to daring in dragon games. like a writer went: "ah if daring was there, he'd kiss apple and they'd immediately find out he wasn't her prince. we need a few more dramatic shots of apple in her coffin before we can have him enter the scene" and they decide to put him in the eah version of ALCATRAZ to solve their problem.

they put that boy in PRISON. because he decided to look in a MIRROR.

mattel could have had him helping the others escape from the school during the eq's takeover and that's why he was late to apple's funeral. but nope. to alcatraz with you boy and have some ptsd.

Darabella but make it reverse batb I always thought Daring’s beast arc was a little contrived because he didn’t need to learn to be selfless, he needed to learn that self worth wasn’t contingent on having a destiny, but what if Rosa helped Daring overcome his identity crisis in between specials and Epic Winter was Beast!Rosa learning self care instead, because something something you need to take care of yourself in order to properly help others. Also beast Rosa adorably deadly

yeah i see that! daring really wasn’t that bad before epic winter and he did help people. so he didn’t really need a redemption arc, more like some clarification on who he was

beast rosabella makes way more sense to me than beast daring. (although i love beast daring a lot pls don’t get me wrong) but beast rosabella just feels right. like, she’s been known to be loud and be very passionate when it comes to certain things, and i just think she’d be so much better at beast than beauty.

daring on the other hand, is a 100% certified pretty boy so the fact that he’s not beauty in canon is a crime.

- when they were younger, daring took his role of older brother very seriously and swore to protect them through everything

- their parents made a shitty comment about darling wearing a suit to a school dance, so dexter and daring went in ballgowns

- daring helps style and dye darling’s hair and dexter helps with her makeup because darling is honestly so bad at doing it herself

- they do face masks together and have movie nights

- they tell each other everything

- dexter and daring were originally supposed to be roommates, but they both decided that it would be better for each other and their sanity if they weren’t

- when daring gets arrested, darling and dexter cover for him while they use their father’s money to bail him out

- they can communicate through faces at each other

- darling and daring keep spares of dexter’s glasses because he’s always losing them, while dexter ans darling have an extra of one of daring’s mirrors and daring and dexter have small knives for darling

- they have matching armour and look absolutely badass in it

Hello EAH fandom, I present to you my newest crackship,

Daring Charming x Humphrey Dumpty.

After an entire lifetime of breaking his bones and multiple chronic illnesses, most people become completely unfazed of it. But he never does. He's sick and tired and sad. This is what started his disinterest and all around disdain towards most people who have it much much better than him. They don't care about him, they just know him as the tech kid who is always experiencing pain, so why should he care about them? He only tolerates a handful of people and, likes only 2 or 3. And he isn't that popular either. Who cares. He doesn't.

Daring Charming has everything. He's kind, handsome, chivalrous, VERY POPULAR, and rich. He knows exactly why he was born, he's a prince who helps and saves people, is beloved by everyone, and will end up marrying apple white. And he is very ok with that arrangement! He's very ok with most things! Because he's ok with most things, he doesn't really think further than that until it discomforts him. Besides people don't really look at him to have opinions or original ideas and thoughts, people don't think of him THAT deeply! And he's also cool with that. It's not what he's made for.

Humphrey keeps falling off of things and slipping and all around almost hurting himself horribly and Daring is always somehow there to save him. Always catching him and shit. It embarrasses Humphrey a lot but Daring is always cool about it, as he is with most things. This song and dance happens every so often and it always gets Humphrey feeling very very stupid about it. He isn't used to this.... What, commitment? From anyone? If he could say anything about Daring Charming is that he's VERY COMMITTED to keep up this ruse that he actually cares enough about Humphrey to always save him from feeling shittier than usual. At least that's what Humphrey tells himself every time Daring Charming makes his way into his mind. It's better to hold that strict belief, than believe... Anything else. He's too busy and tired for this shit. Besides, outside of that song and dance, and the stupid silly short conversations that surround them, they're at the end of the day not a part of each other's lives.

Until one day Humphrey had a great big fall and... For the first time in months he broke a bone, and now he feels a bit more sick and tired. Great. Daring for some reason wasn't there. It broke Humphrey for like, a minute over it, but then he just shoves those feelings away and decided that it doesn't matter. Daring never made ANY PROMISES he would always be there for Humphrey. And Humphrey is stupid. He's stupid.

Humphrey decides to do some work that he's been tasked to take care of for Blondie's mirror cast in bed, and everything is quiet. When suddenly he hears some very loud footsteps running up to his door, and someone barges in. And it's Daring Charming. Errrmmmmm what the fuck

Daring's jaw is agape, in disbelief... He quickly gets down on the floor next to Humphrey's bedside and expresses how sorry he is that he could even allow this to happen, almost sobbing as he explains. Humphrey is still processing him being here, completely baffled.

Humphrey sputters over his words and tells Daring that he shouldn't be sorry, it's not his responsibility any way. And then Daring cheerfully says that he had made it his responsibility for a while now. Wait. What.

Humphrey felt his face heat up, and once again he felt even more stupid. Just how easy is he to flatter?

Daring ends up telling Humphrey that he's going to make it up to Humphrey, by hanging out with him, and doing whatever Humphrey asks him too. He's going to be the most helpful friend Humphrey has ever had. For CHIVALRY!

Humphrey stares at him and says with a straightface, don't you have shit to do?

Daring smiles and answers, nope!

They do actually end up becoming real friends, and Humphrey pretends those old feelings aren't there anymore. Conversations with Daring are really really funny and intertaining, and this guy is actually like, really nice! And for once it was nice to have a friend you don't only interact with because of work or classroom projects. Like, if Humphrey could hang out with anyone... He would want to be with Daring. And that's weird. What the fuck.

Humphrey is always tired and pissed off about something, but the air seems to turn light and easy when Daring's around, and it's hard to not be effected by it.

It makes Humphrey very, very happy whenever Daring compliments and recognizes the hard work he puts into multiple school projects that have a technical division. And Humphrey found out that Daring is very good at giving compliments.

- darling was really scared to tell their parents that she was snow white’s princess charming but dare and dex were with her the whole time and made sure that angelique and dashing didn’t pull anything

- the three of them have movie nights and every time daring gets jump scared by whatever movie it is and throws his popcorn. he somehow got jumpscared during frozen.

- when they play videogames, darling always wins. especially mariokart. dexter has tried hacking the game to win in his favour but somehow it made darling win even quicker. daring is so in last place, that darling passes by him.

- they don’t sleep very well so when they’re all awake past 12 am, they go out and drink on the roof and talk about life and stuff

- when one of them is in a really bad spot, they stay with each other until they pass out.

- darling was extremely scared when she was at prep school because she was so used to having her brothers around and it was hard to live without them. they facetimed practically every day

- they do facials/spa days together. this entails all three of them doing mud masks, painting their nails and watching a cheesy sitcom while they drink and talk shit. these usually happen after one of them has an altercation with their parents.

- when lance started going at daring for his ed, darling and dexter *almost* killed him. they had plans and weapons ready but dare told them that he was fine. (he wasn’t but they backed off. they did however threaten lance and told him that if he ever said anything about daring again they’d kill him)

- daring and darling were dexter’s wingmen to ask out raven (she was confused as to why daring and darling were dressed like the fbi and standing around dexter like bodyguards but again. this was daring and darling)

- darling was a lil nervous to ask out apple after the whole “waking up your brother’s girlfriend and getting his destiny and also getting your happily ever after” thing, but daring and dexter (with some help from briar and ashlynn) set up a whole picnic in the woods and helped darling ask out apple. (she obviously said yes)

- they all know each other’s starbucks order by heart. (daring: iced peach green tea ; dexter: iced salted caramel mocha ; darling: iced americano)

- they’re all shit at board games but whenever they play, it gets violent. dexter cheats, darling tries to stab people and daring flips the table. it is not fun, yet they convince themselves that they can play board games together without fighting every time.

- darling hates her hair because it’s one of angelique’s favourite part about her. she has their grand-mère’s natural platinum hair. one day darling decides “fuck it, i hate this” and enlists daring and dexter to help her dye her hair pastel blue. angelique never let her dye it before (those pink and blue strips were temporary) and she was sick of letting their mother win. daring is shit at dying hair, and dexter is slightly better but not by much. they end up facetiming raven and she walks them through it.

- daring, dexter and darling all have matching sets of armour. they don’t use them but they all have a set.

- when darling was sent to prep school, daring gave her his favourite sword, dexter gave her his favourite book and she gave them each a half of her favourite hairpin. to this day they all still have those items.

Hopper: Normally, I’d say yes without hesitation, but I feel like this is going somewhere and I don’t like it.
