A lil break from the comic. I obviously have ship preferences I think but I am absolutely not immune to @ochrearia s poly propaganda. Their fics DEFINITELY made me a fan.
Oh boy I am definitely not a writer. The hardest part of these is just typing out the descriptions lmao.
Nene is the last one on the list! It's hard to say who in the Candy Crew is more damaged, if you could even put that kind of thing on a scale, but Nene certainly has the worst coping skills of them all. She finds a lot of her comforts in sharing her bed and choosing to live her life as manic as possible. Because of this, Pico and D have a very hard time making a connection or even including her, that dosent mean there's no effort.
On the inside however she wants nothing more than to fit in with the others and find someone willing to love her through her faults. Maybe the pretty red head girl that's always around Blue-

Darnell is Picos best friend and right hand man. For many many years they where absolutely attached at the hip and even now as adults they chose to live close together. D is a kind man with genuine intentions, but destructive with his habits. He is a pyromaniac, and despite his best efforts to pull back, never seems to let go of his lighter. Because of this, clothes and furniture come and go very quickly in his life.
Darnell has also been saddled with extreme survivors guilt. Even with the knowledge the game he came from isn't real, he still can't shake the memory of his best friend sacrificing everything while he couldn't do a thing.
i LOVE your fnf au alot! When we'll be having mm & dd design? And a tiny question, why did BF and Pico breakup in this au ?

MM and DD are coming soon but are not in the immediate line up. @inkpotachilles is going to design them! : D
And as for BF and Pico, it was a very one-sided breakup. Pico obviously suffers from quite a few mental health issues and is prone to lashing out. Because he's 'not real' and from a video game, it's super hard for him to get proper help. Pico left Blue to avoid putting him at risk, and unfortunately, Blue has a hard time understanding what happened or why.
There are definitely still feelings tho 👀

Gracie is the daughter to Daddy Dearest and Mother Mearest, though seems perfectly content not mentioning that, despite her obvious love for them both. After Pico and Blues breakup, she stepped in and proposed a fake relationship. One where she could continue hiding her girl kissing activities from her parents and Blue could take a break from a string of situationships. They are the only two aware of this deal.
She is not at all ignorant to her parents' never-ending hunt for Blues head, but is shockingly confident in Blues wild good luck to get them out of tough spots.

The design was so spooky, but gosh Steve turned out so cute to me. I just know he's the only character that actually reads lmaoo
Steve is much more observant and meticulous than the rest of his pack. He tends to notice what the others- especially John- miss. Being surrounded by idiots has this soldier strung out!
-Yet, Steve is considerably more chipper when he's around John. All of Steve's poise goes out the window whenever he's with his best friend.
The tankmen are all strong men, so I wanted Steve to stand out among them. Whereas John is big, burly and fluffy in his wolf form, I wanted Steve to lean into the opposite extreme. I took inspiration from skinwalkers for his design and I think I spooked @slushgut when I originally shared the design with her.
I have feelings about the Pico update, and I'm sure Darnell does, too
Pico is undisputed leader of the Candy Crew, and works almost explicitly for Daddy Dearest as a paid mercenary. He's been assigned plenty of jobs, works often, but has a habit of sitting on his money. As a result, despite not seeming well off, Pico very easily supports himself and his friends when asked. Pico is neurodivergent, with schizophrenia and insomnia, and struggles deeply with rembering to take medication. He is diagnosed.
Pico was pulled from a video game dimension by Dearest and given life, sort of an opposite of Senpai, and as such feels he must continue pleasing Dearest to avoid getting himself or others sent back to their game. He has only failed once.

John's personality is best described as... immature. At least, in the sense that John tends to lean into extremes. He can be selfless, willing to lay down his life for his loved ones or a cute animal he just met, or he can be extremely greedy and cruel. Despite this, John has a real talent for getting to the root of a problem and solving it in the easiest way.
At his core, we wanted to keep John the same silly himbo that he is. When I think about himbos, I think about werewolves, and I was able to pull @slushgut onto the idea.
Blue is our king of blissful ignorance. Very few thoughts actually stick to the inside of his head, and the ones that do seem to be randomized. Despite that, he's emotionally very intelligent and seems to know what everyone else is feeling before they do. This makes him VERY hard to kill, especially for the Candy Crew (Nene, Darnell, Pico).
We initially made him an Angel to serve as an excuse for usually intelligent people to rap against him instead of just killing him, but the idea stuck and helpped formed his personality. He's kind and open minded and wants genuinely to love all his friends, even if they're usually pointing a gun at him.
Ooooh, pookie finally gave me permission to start posting refs. @inkpotachilles and I spent the last week absolutely cooking, but I am making this an official content warning. There are some heavier themes with a couple of these characters, so heads up with that
