Hinata Shouyou and Kageyama Tobio:
With ease, these two take up all your attention.
One minute, Hinata’s trying to show you his improving math grades, and the next, Kageyama’s trying to show off his power serves.
Neither one leaves you alone for long but as soon as they come together on you, everything turns into a zoo. Kageyama’s shyly holding your hand, purely for the peer pressure of Hinata draping his entire arm around your waist.
Let’s face it--you’re just another contest between them.
However, as soon as a new boy even looks like he’s trying to come into the picture, they’re gonna scare him away. (This is one of the few times they work together for a common goal--how sweet!)
Hinata will try his best to politely ask the man to leave you alone… but that doesn’t work. So now it’s Kageyama’s turn.
He glares. And then he glares some more.
All silence. Just glares.
And then the boy never bothers you again! Really, it’s that easy.
They’ll never kidnap you unless absolutely necessary, but that really never happens considering they’re already the only men in your life.
Kageyama’s terribly awkward in showing his affection to you, but Hinata is the complete opposite. The shorter has no shame in tackling you in a hug, while the taller most definitely is terrified of even brushing the hair from your face.
But Hinata has much to learn too. While Kageyama understands your desire to not stand out, Hinata just loves to show you off to the world!
This includes kisses (bordering on making out) in the middle of class--a huge no-go for you.
All it takes is one “You know she hates that, dumbass!” and Hinata’s learned his lesson, but he’s still antsy to show you off.
To volleyball games, your attendance is mandatory. Some days they wouldn’t even dare to play if you weren’t there to watch.
They love to see you cheer for them, no matter how much it makes Kageyama blush while Hinata jumps up and down. One successful quick attack and both boys’ gazes search the crowd for you, finding home and waiting for your approval like a pair of puppies.
They’re such good boys.
However, this totally presents a problem the minute you all graduate high school.
It would be a lie to say they completely hated sharing, but there was still a small rivalry of who would get you once the inevitable split happened.
Whose games would you go to more? Who would you live with? How would the other have to compensate?
You didn’t want to leave them either. After all, it’d been three years. In that amount of time, there was no way their love was still completely unrequited.
A compromise was met.
You lived in an apartment in a city exactly halfway between both boys’ teams. They paid for your living expenses--because of course they loved to spoil you--while you went to the local college. It was perfect!
Until it wasn’t.
There was a boy.
In one of your classes.
He was nice. Too nice.
But he wasn’t the only one.
Suddenly you had friend groups you were hanging out with, people who had no idea what you liked or what to keep you away from.
When Hinata and Kageyama agreed to meet you one Friday night at your apartment and you weren’t home, that was the last straw.
Clearly you couldn’t be trusted on your own. Clearly, you didn’t deserve that freedom.
And then they found you, smiling, chatting, laughing with what could only be described as undeserving scum, Hinata and Kageyama snapped.
“Please don’t!”
“It’s for your own good, YN. You didn’t listen to us!” Normally, Hinata couldn’t bear to see you cry without shedding a few tears of his own, but tonight his eyes were dry. His face was still sad though as he handcuffed you to Kageyama’s bed.
Kageyama enters the room, a suitcase in each hand. “Here,” he hands one to Hinata. “This one stays at your house while I keep this one here.”
The new plan: you were to be locked up in one of their homes, switching every week.
Hinata accepted the bag with a nod, tossing one last glance at your crying form.
“YN.” He couldn’t resist, brushing the tears from your cheeks with his thumbs. Hinata cringed in sadness at the way you flinched away from his touch, but he didn’t mention it. “Please. You know I hate to see you cry. Look at it this way,” he forced a smile, caressing the skin underlying your cuffs, “now you don’t have to wait for one of us to come to you, because we’ll always be here. And if you want to see the other, we can FaceTime!”
Kageyama clenched his jaw at the scene, wishing he didn’t have to keep you locked up just to keep you in his apartment.
But he knew it was for your own good.
Finally, when Hinata couldn’t take anymore of your crying face, he rose from his crouch at your side with a whimper and made his way to Kageyama standing in the doorway.
“Remind her that I love her every day.”
“Okay.”
“And that she can always call if she needs to.”
“Okay.”
“And don’t forget that she’s almost on her-”
“I know that, dumbass, you don’t think I have that marked on my calendar?”
“I was just saying, Kageyama!”
“Whatever.”
And with that, Hinata left with a suitcase of half of your possessions in hand.
Kageyama sat by your side on his bed the minute his front door closed, one of his hands reaching up to brush through your hair. “You understand why we needed to do this, right?”
You couldn’t hold his blue gaze for long before more tears sprung to your eyes. “Please…”
Kageyama shook his head, dropping his hand to cup your cheek. “It’ll be like this for a while. At least… at least until we can trust you again. All right?”
When he saw your bottom lip begin to quiver once more, he knew reasoning with you was pointless. Even though he’d known you for years, handling your emotions was still foreign to him.
Hinata was so much better at that stuff.
Kageyama huffed and rose to his feet, pressing a hesitant kiss to your forehead before moving to the suitcase sitting on the floor. “I’ll help you unpack, and tomorrow maybe you can come with me to practice if you’re good, okay?”
Kageyama and Hinata were always going to struggle with sharing you, but it was an issue they were willing to work through. After all, they shared one common goal: keeping you by their sides.

A/N: Yeah, yeah, I know. I’m back to my same old spiel of “it’s been a while” and “I’m so sorry I haven’t posted in (insert time) days!” Truth is, I just haven’t had the time to write like I know some of y’all haven’t had the time to read. However, I’m happy to be back, even if it is just for this one post. I hope y’all are doing good, and enjoy!

Bokuto Koutarou:
While his falling asleep on you is usually an accident (considering it’s much easier to admire you while he’s awake), he certainly always makes the best of the situation.
He nods off and his head slumps to your shoulder and instinctively you want to push him away because you just know him drooling is an inevitability but, no, a sleeping Bokuto is an adorable Bokuto.
He mumbles in his sleep. You’ve learned that from experience.
Black and white hairs tickle your neck but you don’t dare to scratch partly because one of his arms is already wrapped around you locking your own against your sides and partly because waking him would be a crime upon nature.
It only tickles for a few moments anyway because in a matter of seconds he’s curling in deeper, snuggling his forehead against your throat while his legs clamber into your lap.
It’s awkward. It’s hot. It’s not quite a boyfriend cuddling his girlfriend and more so a koala straddling a tree branch.
But it’s a classic Bokuto cuddle-bordering-on-suffocation situation so you settle in for what will be an awkward, hot bus ride.
And eventually you lean your head on his and fall asleep because, eh, why not.
Konoha totally has pictures that he sells to Bokuto later
Tsukishima Kei:
More often than not, when Tsukishima Kei falls asleep on the bus, he goes full turtle.
Blond head perched back on the top of the bus seat, headphones around his neck while his mouth hangs open in a soundless snore. This dude is usually conked.
(He’s learned to sit near the front of the bus lest he risk another session of “What can Kageyama and Tanaka throw into Tsukishima’s mouth?”)
So when his head lolls to the side and rests ever so delicately on the edge of your shoulder, you freeze like a deer in headlights.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so don’t you dare screw it up.
However… his glasses press really hard into the bony part of your shoulder.
At first, you try to suffer through the pain, taking timed, measured breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.
Then you contemplate humming to distract yourself, but you drop that strategy the instant he twitches on your first note.
It’s too much. Come on, there’s no way there isn’t a bruise there by now!
The constant digging of plastic into your bone is insufferable at this point. You needed to eradicate the problem if this rare event was to continue.
You inch your right hand up ever so slowly, keeping your breathing steady so as to not frighten the flighty creature resting upon you.
You turn your head just a touch and your chin brushes the hair atop his head, but he doesn’t disturb one bit at the slight tousle--thank God.
With two pinching fingers you grab the frames and remove them with the delicate touch of butterfly wings.
Almost there… almost… have them...
Then Tsukishima stirs.
“Screw it.” You yank the glasses away and drop them into your lap before returning your hand to the side of his face.
“YN, what are you-” he cuts off in a grunt as you shove his head back onto your shoulder.
“Shhhh.”
“YN.” His voice is muffled from his face being smushed into your shirt.
“Shhhh. Don’t ruin it.”
“YN-”
“Escape is futile.” You pat his cheek as the rest of his body squirms like a fish caught in a net. “Accept your fate, Tsukki.”
Iwaizumi Hajime:
Sticky. Sweaty. Warm.
You have no doubt that as soon as Iwaizumi wakes up, you will have to peel your shirt from his face like a sticker.
But you figure he deserves the rest. He played a great game and is understandably worn out.
And you’d be damned if you didn’t want to play pillow for him from time to time.
No, he’s not your boyfriend, but you certainly wish he was.
One of his hands fell onto your thigh the second he drifted off and your own hovers over it, an eagle waiting to land.
God, he’s so warm. Like a personal heater. The bus was pretty cold too considering Iwaizumi had the bright idea of leaving your seat’s window open for whatever reason.
The first time you complained about the cold, he offered you his jacket. However, two seconds after his offer your cheeks were burning enough to warm the rest of your body so refused.
And now here you were, almost losing consciousness yourself on account of how comfortable you’d grown in this position.
A nap… surely a nap wouldn’t hurt.
Today’s game had asked for a five a.m. arrival at the school, one seven hour bus ride down to the opponent, and one returning. It was understandable that you were exhausted yourself.
The eagle landed and your drooping eyes slipped closed. Iwaizumi’s hair--so soft--felt like the perfect cushion as you slipped into warm, deep sleep.
The soft pressure on Iwaizumi’s head allowed for a small smile to grow on his face.
Fucking finally.
Just one eye peered open and though he couldn’t see much, your hand resting flat on his just so happened to be the perfect sight.
He waited until your breathing truly evened out before moving, slowly flipping his hand palm up and intertwining your fingers between his.
His eyes began to blur once more and he gave your hand a gentle squeeze before giving in to the tiredness completely, grinning at the soft sigh you released.
Yes. Finally.

Summary: Kozume Kenma is one of the most infamous vampires to ever exist, the legends of him and his clan rivaling that of Dracula himself. His preserved sarcophagus lies in the heart of Tokyo’s Supernatural Museum, subsection C: Vampires. You, on the other hand, are the reason wet floor signs exist. A chance slip, an accidental cut, and a band aid missing the trash can all lead to the chance meeting of you and the vampire committed to serving you eternally. “I am forever indebted to you, Mistress.”
A/N: lil idea I just had. Don’t know where I’m gonna go w it, if anywhere, but like y’all can read it if u wanna🥺👉👈 Enjoy!

“Years ago, this museum was founded after the first sighting of a werewolf in Tokyo. He was spotted at midnight under a full moon just as he- Ma’am, please refrain from touching the artifacts.”
Sheepishly, you pulled your hand away from a hip-high ancient wood carving of a mermaid, inching your way back toward the group as the tour guide fixed you with a dirty look. With a small huff, she straightened her shoulders under her Victorian-style overcoat that matched the rest of her gothic getup. An ancient London day dress made her seem as though she had crawled out of one of the many paintings on the wall that depicted Jack the Ripper as numerous supernatural creatures. The only thing that set her apart was the ID badge that hung around her neck.
As you returned to both of your friends’ sides, you avoided their shaming gazes and instead busied yourself with pretending to listen to the tour guide as she restarted her monologue.
“YN,” one of your friends, Akira, hissed, “you promised you wouldn’t touch anything!”
“I didn’t!” you whisper-yelled back. “The lady stopped me before I could.”
At your half-effort to clear yourself of blame, Akira leaned her head back and let out a loud sigh. Kanna watched the interaction with a ghost of a smile on her lips, sniggering a little as she always did when Akira lectured you.
Both of your friends had invited you with them today as a celebration of passing your first semester of college together. Kanna had obtained the tickets in some way that went along the lines of “My dad’s brother knows the cousin of a guy who…” yadda yadda yadda.
Either way, you agreed to go with because, as expected, nobody was watching you and everyone had their eyes on them. Both of your friends were significantly beautiful, Kanna towering over you with long slim legs and hair that trailed down her back in waves while Akira stood just about at your chin, her hair chopped into a bob that never failed to frame her glowing eyes and constant frown.
Standing with them was like hiding in plain sight--an effortless camouflage.
You only realized you were lost in thought when Akira stalked back from the tour group that had managed to travel thirty feet ahead of you, her hand grasping your arm and dragging you back up to join them. When you returned you saw Kanna flirting with a boy who looked around your age and you distantly remembered him from your chemistry class.
Of course, he didn’t recognize you.
As the tour group made its way through the cathedral-shaped museum, stopping for a few minutes at a time for each exhibit of mythical beasts, your gaze darted back and forth between the ever-growing collection of sculptures and weaponry.
You remember being obsessed with the supernatural as a child, even getting into some intense arguments about whether vampires or werewolves were better, but at some point the infatuation had faded away into passing fascination--you were almost envious that someone had been able to preserve their own childlike spirit so much that they created an entire museum for it.
The outside of the makeshift cathedral looked exactly how you’d expect: towering spires with windows of stained glass depicting angels, suns, and crosses. The inside, however, was so juxtaposingly modern that it slapped you in the face the minute you entered. The walls were painted black with maroon accents, effectively maintaining a gothic theme. Though yellow lights embedded in the ceiling lit up each hall, brass sconces were still nailed to the walls, balancing two flickering candles each.
Everyone walked down a red velvet carpet that covered polished dark wood underneath and muffled their footsteps, the dull thumps somehow making the museum more ominous. Much like the exhibit you were in now, which was centered around witches, a single television hung at the far end of each exhibition room, ceaselessly playing a small, summarizing video of the creature’s origins.
As it murmured in the background about how witches and wizards were not the same thing, you inspected a broomstick that was supposedly owned by a witch from Salem. It floated in the air with two clear strings tied around either end just above a carved marble pedestal holding a gold plaque. The broom of Sarah Good, it read, caught and hanged in the Salem Witch Trials. Her descendants now live in New Orleans, the supposed location of a secret witch coven.
You licked your lips thoughtfully, moving onto the next artifact with vested interest. The next was a cat skull and on its plaque it explained-
Before you even got to read the words, you lost your footing and toppled over, crashing to the ground in a single heap of limbs.
Ow.
Groaning, you righted yourself back onto your butt, inspecting the untied shoelace that had sniped you. Several gasps rose around the room, but not for you.
The wooden stand holding the cat skull balanced now on a single leg, tipping over in slow motion. Crap!
You tried to scramble up onto your knees to catch the fallen display but before you could, a form blew past you in the blink of an eye and caught it in its tracks, righting it back on its four legs before recentering the cat skull.
A chuckle left the museum worker as he spun back to face you, piercing green eyes observing your fallen form. Well, piercing green eye--the other was covered by a tuft of black hair, just as spiky and wild as the rest on top of his head. As he smirked, you could see a hint of his canines, looking sharp enough to cut through skin. You blamed the sight on the lighting.
And on the obvious supernatural fetish.
The man offered a gloved hand to you, the rest of his form draped in a velvet black trench coat, and as he pulled you to your feet, you glanced at his ID tag. Kuroo Tetsurou, exhibit handler. Of course he would be on the lookout for clumsy visitors such as yourself.
Good thing, too, because you were like a bull in a china shop.
“Thank you,” you mumbled, half-avoiding your gaze because you were embarrassed and half because you were never too good at handling yourself like a normal human when it came to attractive men.
“Of course.” He held your gaze and hand for just a tad longer than was socially acceptable before letting go and stepping back. “Though, perhaps stay a couple feet back when observing the artifacts.”
Those “fangs” had to be fake.
The worker left you with one last chuckle and a wink before walking away, hopefully to never see you ever again. God, that was embarrassing! A small pout grew on your face as you flushed deep red, refraining from hiding your face in your hands because you knew that’s what everyone else in the room expected from you--you figured you’d entertained them enough for one day.
While glancing around for a hole to bury yourself and die in, you realized your tour group was long gone. The witch exhibit wasn’t exactly packed with people so you could easily tell your friends were gone as well.
Muttering a small curse, you made your way through to the exit, flinching. when the animatronic witch posed at the door cackled in your ear.
The dimly-lit hall was clear of people aside from a few stragglers searching for a room to inspect. As you made your way down the hall, voices floated out from each room, none sounding familiar. Each doorway had its own silver plaque positioned above, naming the topics of the room.
Centaurs. Genies. Unicorns.
The tour you had gotten tickets for stated that it wasn’t going to go into every room in the museum, but it would brush over the most popular exhibits. And if there was one thing you remembered, it was that the newly-renovated vampire exhibit was the main reason the group you traveled with was so large.
The museum had added an artifact that bolstered their popularity greatly--the supposed sarcophagus of Kozume Kenma, one of the leading vampires of the Nekoma Clan.
Vampires. There!
You speed-walked into the room, slowing your steps when you entered because you’d recently learned where traveling through an expensive exhibit without thinking would get you.
And yet, when you bursted into the room and saw a glimpse of Kanna’s black hair bouncing through the exit, you threw all caution to the wind.
“Kanna!” You zipped in between the red ropes restricting visitors from getting too close to the paintings, darting around glass cases holding blood-stained cloaks and taxidermy bats while waving your arms like that would somehow catch the eyes of someone with their back turned. “Kan-NUH!”
A wrinkle in the carpet launched you forward and you waved your arms wildly for balance.
If anyone had entered the room at that moment, they would have walked right out. You looked insane, like you were acting out your own rendition of monkey-turning-to-woman.
Your fall landed you against a table where a sharpened blade sat, pointed upward for show. One hand slammed against the surface of the marble while the other, in your panic, slid just along the razor-sharp edge.
Shock came first and you flung your arm away with a gasp, stumbling back and crashing into what felt like another table. You reached your bleeding hand back blindly to stable yourself while the other reached up to press against your racing heart.
The pain was finally kicking in and the break in your palm began to drip down your hand, leaking blood with ease. Your hand shook so bad you could barely feel it, numb with panic as you gasped for breath.
Finally, when your gaze stopped wavering in sync with the pounding of your head, you glanced over at the sword display. No blood seemed to stain the blade, but a large sign hung just in the background stating PLEASE DON’T TOUCH!
Definitely not a first for you.
You looked over your shoulder out of instinct for just a second, wanting to see what sat on the table you currently leant on to see what other rules you were breaking, only to feel your throat close up at the sight.
A mummy sat in a polished black coffin, carved of wood with details of vines, leaves, and finally a cat’s yowling face carved into the latch that hung over the cracked-open space. A bloodied half hand-print sat right at the head of the body, coloring the mouth area red while the rest of the wrapping remained an aged white.
“Shit!” you hissed with panicked eyes, lunging back and away. “Shit, shit, shit! Oh, I’m so fucked.” A large sign, even bigger than the flatscreen that played the story of the first vampire, read DO NOT TOUCH OR APPROACH. SARCOPHAGUS IS EXTREMELY FRAGILE.
The three underlines of each word hit you like a freight train and you almost gagged. Unlike your other little slip-ups, this one would seriously cost you.
There was no way the coffin didn’t cost more than your apartment and college tuition combined, and you were already toeing the line of serious debt.
Do I tell someone? Do I not tell someone and let myself get caught?
In terms of damage, the mummy looked totally fine. The small discoloring around the mouth was barely even noticeable from your ten-foot distance away, but the closer someone would get, the easier it would be able to see. Other random speckles of stains littered the wrappings, of course due to age, but in a museum for vampires? With red stains on the mouth of said vampire?
Someone would see. Eventually. But according to the sign, no one would get close to it for a while.
Maybe you would escape this scot-free.
Taking a deep breath, you closed your eyes and fished for a band aid in your pocket. Injuries were common so you always kept some on hand.
“You’re gonna be fine, YN,” you mumbled to yourself, fighting to tear open the wrapper. Your hands were shaking so badly it was almost impossible and tears stung your eyes. “You’re gonna be fine. Just take deep breaths.”
After five minutes of shaky fumbling and calm words, you finally just ripped the package in half and pulled out of the now-deformed band aid, slamming it over your wound and calling it a day.
Yesterday, you took four finals in four classes. Today, you damaged a fragile museum artifact that, if caught, would cost you thousands.
You were going fucking home.
You tossed your band aid wrapper in the trash with a huff, not noticing the single, stained paper fluttering to the floor just in front of the exit.

Blood. Air.
Blood. Sweet, sweet blood.
Thirsty. Hungry.
Dark.
Pain.
Escape.
Escape.
Escape.
Hoarse wheezes was all Kenma could manage as he lay stock-still on a soft surface. Pins and needles pricked at his every limb and he almost groaned in relief because it meant he was alive.
His tongue was heavy as a rock and was dry as sandpaper but he could still taste the sweet flavor on his tongue. Metallic-like, it was both nourishing and yet not enough.
No, no. Definitely not enough. He needed more.
Twitching his finger was an exercise that if he wasn’t completely dehydrated would have worked up a sweat. Moving the rest of his arm made him wish his death had lasted.
But someone had blessed him with blood, with life, and now he had a debt to repay.
Kenma wasn’t like Kuroo. He followed the ancient laws of vampires, now matter how outdated they were. Born-vampires had one code, and that was that whoever gave you blood and therefore everlasting life, was your master forever.
This was code.
Kenma thought of Kuroo and how he’d taken blood from all kinds of people, an action that would’ve been called taboo by the vampires of old.
Then Kenma thought of Kuroo alone and wondered just where he was.
It was completely dark, and each muscle he moved seemed trapped in the same position. A loud rip split the silence that previously mingled with Kenma’s wheezing as he reached up an arm and patted at his face.
Trapped. Stuck. Wrapped in something?
“K…” Kenma tried to call Kuroo’s name, but even the first letter scraped at his throat hard enough that he gagged.
It was so dry. He needed more of the blood he’d given.
Just a drop would be a blessing.
“Ku…”
But he had to get out first.
If he knew one thing about Kuroo, it was that the man was loyal. If he knew another, it was that he was also immortal.
Because Kenma followed the ways of the code, he was the right hand man of the Nekoma Clan. Kuroo was the leader, but he knew to protect his own.
“Kuro...Kuroo.”
The pain was irrelevant. His hand still scratched at his face, slowly yet desperately as he ached to tear away the cloth. To see light for the first time in centuries.
Footsteps echoed miles away, perking Kenma’s ears.
“Kuroo...Kuroo.”
They drew closer and closer, ever so muffled through the wrappings that trapped Kenma in darkness.
“Kuroo...please.”
A hand batted away the one Kenma kept patting over his face and Kenma heard the zing of a blade.
“Kuroo…”
“Shh.” Kuroo’s voice urging Kenma to shut up had never sounded so melodic. “I’m here. I’m here.”
Kenma let himself relax, allowing Kuroo to cut through the thick cloths encasing his body like a cast. The latter cursed under his breath each time he sliced a bit too close to the skin, almost breaking it.
The process was long and painful. After coming back to life, Kenma suddenly had the urge to move, something he’d never had before.
Except he knew exactly why he needed to move. He needed to find them. Whoever they were.
Though eternal servitude was never exactly Kenma’s life goal, he knew it was an honor to be deemed worthy as someone worth eternal life. To be given such a gift was a sign that your life was meant to be spared.
When all the bindings split away and Kenma could open his eyes, a ringing burst in his ears accompanied by a pounding headache. He’d never known candles to burn so brightly, but maybe that was something of this new age. Or perhaps he was laying below a skylight.
Neither. The light source was a rectangular shape directly above, harnessing the light of a thousand white flames to make the room glow. It buzzed as well, or perhaps that was the few moths that flew around it.
“Kuroo,” Kenma reached a hand up to cover his eyes, “I have to-”
“Shh.” The older hushed him once more before holding a cup to his lips. “Drink this. It’ll help.”
The cup was dark and Kenma couldn’t see what was inside of it. Panic struck his heart and with a sudden burst of energy, he slapped the cup away from his face.
“NO!”
The cup flew, spilling clear liquid through the air before cracking against the floor with a splat. The older man in the room sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose with his fingers.
“Kenma, come on. I know the dumbass laws and your dumbass willingness to abide by them. You know I wouldn’t force you to drink blood you didn’t want.”
Kuroo was right. Kenma trusted him to not force blood on him and he trusted Kuroo not to try and bring him back either. Kenma wanted his revival, if it were to ever happen, to be of someone else’s desire to revive him.
He’d just… panicked.
“I know.” His throat suddenly felt parched and sickly and Kenma returned his gaze to Kuroo’s face. “Could you…?”
“Yeah, I’ll go get another one.”
+++
“I’ll never let go, Jack.”
“Just move over on the door, bitch!” you wailed, sobbing into your ice cream and curling deeper into your blankets as the movie drew to a close. Tears ran down your face and half a tissue box sat in numerous crumpled-up balls on your coffee table.
To be fair, a large majority of them came from when you first got home from the museum. After throwing yourself a pity party, you decided to give yourself even more reason to cry by watching the Titanic movie over a bowl of ice cream.
Your phone sat beside the used tissues, occasionally lighting up with missed calls from your friends hours earlier. Texting felt like a waste of energy, and you could certainly tell them what happened tomorrow.
If you weren’t being arrested for damaging museum property at that time.
Even the thought sprung another nervous wave of tears to your eyes and you clicked off the movie, searching for another story to bawl your eyes out to.
Three loud knocks cracked at your door, making you flinch.
Probably Akira and Kanna, worried out of their minds.
“Guys,” you stood up and turned on your living room lights before walking to your front door, “I promise I’m fine. Something just happened today that really-”
But when you turned the knob, it was neither of your friends.
It wasn’t even female.
It was two guys, one looking vaguely familiar while the other was entirely unknown to you.
The first, significantly taller and with the same ruffled hair, was Kuroo. Just the sight of the museum worker made you want to jump out your window and onto the sidewalk ten floors below.
The other was shorter with blond hair just past his chin, the roots a dark brown. His eyes were glowing with a sort of anticipation but his face appeared otherwise bored.
Nerves began to dance under your skin and you shifted from foot to foot, your hand still on the door. You only realized you were biting your lip when both men drew their gazes to the action, and after that you immediately stopped.
“Uhh, y-yes?” You gulped and watched them both with flared nostrils, ignoring the way the blond’s eyes followed your throat. “Did you n-need something, offic- I mean sirs?”
The familiar one’s lips quirked, something akin to amusement dancing in his eyes as he watched your anxious movements. Yet, he never said a word.
Instead, the blond one stepped forward, somehow looking uncomfortable in a red sweatshirt and black sweatpants. There was an air of seriousness around him even as his face gave off a feeling of nonchalance.
Here it comes.
You tensed up your shoulders and closed your eyes, waiting for the words of your doom.
Instead, cold fingers grabbed the hand you had limp at your side and you felt a softness brush over the back.
You opened your eyes once more only to see a small smile with fangs peaking out as the blond pulled his lips away from your hand.
“I am forever indebted to you, Mistress.”
“What?”

Summary: Oikawa just wants to build a snowman on one of the coldest days of the year with his beloved girlfriend. What could go wrong?
A/N: Major fluff. Like...that’s it. That’s the warning. We’ve been getting assloads of snow where I am so I figured why not. Hope you like this domestic fluff!
Word count: 2264
Something cold, soft and insistent hits you in the face.
“YN!... YNNNN!” Oikawa keeps whisper-yelling your name and patting the side of your cheek until you finally gather the energy to crack open an eyelid.
“Tooru,” you yawn, moving to sit up and rub the sleep from your blurred gaze, “whyyy?” The lights of yours and Oikawa’s bedroom are still off but the open curtains of your floor length window allow the white brightness flooding the space to blind you.
Huh, looks like the blizzard warning wasn’t a joke.
The light zaps every ounce of energy right out of you as you struggle to stay conscious and you give in, flopping back despite Oikawa’s whines.
“No, no! YN, come on, let’s go outside!”
“Are you insane?” you mumble into your pillow, rolling over only to be flipped right back.
“Neither of us have any type of clothes equipped for that kind of weather. Just go back to sleep- oof.”
A piece of clothing, pants by the feel of the starchy exterior, thwaps you in the face and incites enough anger inside you to wake you for revenge and nothing more.
“That’s why I bought those last night while I was out!” The bed shifts as Oikawa rises from the bed, giving you a show of skin as he strips off his night clothes and dresses in the newly purchased snow pants and boots.
“I swear to God if you don’t let me go back to sleep I’m to suffocate you with my pillow before sleeping on top of both of you.”
“Well that’s vivid.”
“It’s also very desirable right now.”
Oikawa pouts, zipping up a puffy jacket to his chin before shoving a beanie on his head and dropping back onto the bed next to you. “Come on, YN! I wanna build a snowman!”
“I swear to God if you start singing-”
“Do you wanna build a snowm-mmphf!”
A pillow thwaps Oikawa in the face and you drop back to the bed with a groan. “Fineeee, so long as you shut up and don’t ever sing that song again, I will go outside and build a snowman with you.”
“Oh come on, it’s tradition!”
~~~
Okay, so maybe you weren’t a morning person and perhaps Oikawa had been right. Though the weather may as well have left you feeling stranded naked in the Arctic, passing up the opportunity to build a snowman with your boyfriend on one of the few days both of you had off together would have been a terrible decision.
Feeling like a toddler wrapped in twenty-ply toilet paper, you stumbled down the stairs of the complex and out into the freezing cold of nature. The snow pants and boots Oikawa bought for you sagged just a tad on your hips and you had to constantly readjust them with one gloved hand while the other held firmly onto your boyfriend’s as he led you out into the open space between the building and the parking lot.
Snow still fell in small bundles, settling into your hair and onto Oikawa’s hat, slowly and surely soaking in and freezing all at the same time. The sky was a chilled gray, the sun a distant glowing orb in the sky that could never overpower the precipitating clouds that laid claim on the sky. A wind brushed the stray hairs from your face and bit at your cheeks, bringing with more flakes that settled onto the tips of your lashes effortlessly.
Every footprint you and a grinning Oikawa left behind revealed there was a solid nine inches of snow that crushed the dark green grass underneath. A laugh left your companion as he tugged you farther along, barging through the piles of white that seemed reluctant to move.
“Okay,” Oikawa declared, turning back to you with a pink nose and cheeks as his breaths left puffs in the air. “What should we do first?”
The childlike glimmer of excitement in your eyes made the smile on your face grow full-fledged. Then a devious thought came to your mind. “Well,” you tapped your chin in faux deliberation, pulling your hand out of his to set it on your hip, “I suppose we could…”
Without another word, you pressed both hands on Oikawa’s chest and pushed as hard as possible, letting out a laugh at the split-second betrayed look on his face before his black-coated form disappeared in a cloud of snow.
It took him a second to recover as you went into hysterics, folding your arms around your stomach as you guffawed. Oikawa propped himself up on his elbows and blew a hair out of his face with a pout.
“You’re gonna pay for that.”
And before you knew it, your open-mouthed laughter was interrupted with a choke as snow met your tongue and teeth.
Small clumps of flakes stuck to your forehead and chin as you gasped, trying to wipe away the cold in vain as Oikawa rose from the ground, two more snowballs already rounded off in his hands.
“Don’t start something you can’t finish, Tooru,” you warned, stepping back and keeping watchful eyes on both of his armed hands.
“Oh, come on, babe.” Oikawa grinned a sly grin that told you you had awoken a beast. “You know I can’t let you off the hook after that.”
And the battle commenced.
Somehow even in the freezing cold you were working up a sweat, ducking and dodging as many snowballs as you could while firing off your own.
Sometimes you would hit Oikawa in his long legs as he dove away from a throw and sometimes he would hit you back in the arms or chest while you hurried to build a fort to protect yourself. At a certain point, both of you had built fortresses that were each a solid three feet high. Oikawa had gone for the simple-yet-classic snow wall tactic while you crafted a small barrier as long as your wingspan that surrounded your front and sides, packing snow on top of solidifying snow while Oikawa occasionally knocked off a solid chunk that required you to handle damage control.
Your teeth began to instinctively chatter as the snow that hit your face melted off and slid down your jacket, soaking into Oikawa’s t-shirt underneath. Every so often you would have to tug your gloves back down after they slid up during your construction efforts, allowing cold clumps to stick to your skin and leave patches of irritated red in their wake.
But you were distracted for just a second too long playing defense and that was all Oikawa needed.
A shadow fell over your work as you began to carve a makeshift window in your fort, punching a hand through the thick wall of snow in order to keep an eye on your enemy as you worked--however, such efforts seemed futile as you slowly turned around to see a towering Oikawa with two armfuls of snow prepped and angled right over your head.
You had been too focused on your own shaky breaths and mutters that you haven’t even heard him army crawling behind you and gathering up an avalanche to bury you under.
“Oh shi-” flumph.
Oikawa tipped his head back and released a maniacal laugh as snow piled in your lap and atop your head, making you look like the snowman he’d wanted to build this morning.
“Looks like I’ve won this war, YN,” he nodded to himself, dusting off his white-sprinkled blue pants and puffy jacket. “Though, to be fair, it was well fought. You must’ve just gotten too distracted by your opponent’s dazzling looks to notice he’d already trapped you in a corner, and nobody can blame you. I guess I’m just too-AGH!”
In two seconds you went from partial abominable snowman on the frozen ground to tackling Oikawa to the ground and straddling his chest, dropping two handfuls of snow into his face as he screeched.
“What were you saying about victory, Tooru?” you sniggered, stealing the hat right off his head and pressing it onto your own. “Distracted opponent and whatnot? Kinda makes me wonder who really won this…”
Oikawa coughed up a snowball as you used all your weight to roll off him and settle onto the floor next to him, just far enough away that you could spread your arms up over your head and down back to your side. Just as you worked to spread your legs and arms in synchronization to complete your snow angel, two folded arms dropped onto your stomach before a head plopped on top relaxedly, forcing a large cloud of air out of your mouth.
“I don’t know, babe,” Oikawa mumbled, adjusting right on top of you so he could lean over and draw patterns into the snow with a single finger right next to your other side. Each time he shifted, a bony elbow dug even harder into your stomach, forcing noises out of your mouth no different from the choking sounds of a floundering seal. “I really think we could call it a tie right here.”
With one dazzling smile sent your way, Oikawa moved so he was laying entirely on top of you, legs tangling with yours and all before he moved to straddle your hips. “Never,” you choked out, helplessly wiggling underneath him. “Ugh, get off me fatass.”
“Hey! I’ve been watching my weight before the season!” He pressed a finger to your forehead after dodging every hand you tried to bat him away with. “I’ll have you know this is all muscle, but I don’t believe you need such proof after last night.”
You gagged at the eyebrows he waggled at you before mustering enough energy to roll onto your stomach right underneath him and army crawl out, finally free from his weight. “Don’t be such a perv.” You rolled your eyes, standing up and staring down at him with your arms akimbo.
Oikawa’s lips curled up into a smirk as he rose to his feet, approaching you with eyes narrowed enough to have you waiting for his next words. “You know, you weren’t this shy last night either.”
“Shut up!” You blamed the pink tint of your cheeks on the cold and smacked his arm, spinning away when he yelped in surprise.
“Hey!” When you kept your back to him, he huffed out a sigh and made his way closer to you, so close his entire body was pressed against you. Two arms slithered around your waist and a freezing nose traced a path up along the side of your exposed throat.
When you relaxed into his hold and leaned your head away to allow him more room to tease, Oikawa hummed in thought and pressed a kiss to the skin, hands tightening on your hips.
“Let’s go back inside, baby,” he murmured, peppering more and more pecks along your skin until he had enough of the back-to-front issue and spun you around, pressing his forehead against yours. Both of your puffs of air now mingled together as he spoke, his brown eyes trailing from your warm gaze to your red cheeks to the plump lips your tongue just couldn’t seem to leave alone. “We need to do something to… warm up.”
The innocence that fell over your face, no matter how fake, made his jaw clench and his body grow still.
“But I thought you wanted to build a snowman?”
~~~
You shivered under the mounds of blankets on the bed, wearing nothing but the soaked hat on your head as Oikawa entered the room with only a sheet covering his bare form. Two steaming cups of hot chocolate piled high with marshmallows were held in his hands, one of which he held out to you after shutting the door to the bedroom and dimming the lights.
The sun outside was long gone, instead leaving the moon to shine and reflect off the layers of snow that you and Oikawa had ruffled up hours earlier.
You accepted the mug with a soft smile and scooted over, making room as Oikawa shrugged off the blanket completely, leaving himself uncovered to the cold still circling in the room.
“As much as I like your staring, YN, a wolf whistle is always appreciated every now and then.”
You only wiggled your brows and blew a kiss at him over your mug, giggling when he gawked and muttered “Perv” under his breath.
Oikawa wasted no time grabbing his own mug off the nightstand, settling in beside you with an arm wrapped around your hips to keep you curled into his side. As the movie began, he let out a long sigh and pressed two marshmallow-flavored lips to your forehead, grinning when you nuzzled in closer.
“Ugh, Frozen? Really?”
“Shhh,” Oikawa whispered. “You’re gonna miss the song.” You could only roll your eyes and lay your head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat and soft humming to the music.
And as “Do You Wanna Build a Snowman” faintly played through the shining window of your apartment, two snowmen sitting just outside with pebbles for eyes and carrots for noses froze and solidified under the light of the stars, their makeshift twig arms still holding hands.

A/N: Hehehe, I’m s i c k. Anyways, here’s a rly long headcanon that I’ve been thinking about writing for a while. Some are short and some are long, but hey, that’s life🤷♀️ Enjoy! (Side note: been a while since I did a milestone, but hey, this one’s huge--happy 4k y’all💜!!)

Oikawa Tooru:
He’s dead silent, waiting to hear that name fall from your lips one more time just to make sure he wasn’t having a nightmare.
“Ushiwaka…”
Nope. He wasn’t. He pinched himself five times to prove it.
Oikawa can’t stand the thought of you dreaming about one of his greatest enemies. His hands curl into fists and his bottom lip gets drawn in by his teeth and, if you hadn’t been so busy trying to fend off your own laughter, you might’ve heard the small whine leaving the back of his throat.
The bed shifts with Oikawa’s weight leaving it imbalanced and just when you prepare yourself to stop him in his tracks with a giggle, the bedroom door slams hard enough to rattle framed photographs of you and him on the walls.
Okay… so maybe you had gone too far.
Stunned into silence, it takes you a couple minutes to recover from your boyfriend’s outburst. When you finally find the strength to breach the cold air of one a.m. goosebumps rise along your skin and you decide to wrap a blanket around your shoulders.
Lord knows damage control with Oikawa always required a solid chunk of time.
You find him in the kitchen of the apartment, seated on a stool with his elbows propped on the oak-finished island with two fistfuls of hair and a downcast face.
Unsurprisingly enough, your prank no longer felt like the genius idea you’d thought it was three hours ago.
“Tooru?” Your voice is small so as to not disturb him, but his lack of movement makes you think you have almost been too successful in your efforts.
“Tooru,” you move to lay your hand on his shoulder, “please.” However, the second you make contact he flinches away like you’d burned him. The room is silent once more, but as you keep your hand hovering over his back, you hear a quiet sniffle.
Oh God, what have I done?
Without another word, you grasp both ends of the blanket and wrap both it and yourself around Oikawa, attaching yourself to his back with a tight enough grip that he can’t shake you off, which, trust me, he certainly tries his best.
Like a fish out of water, he writhes and thrashes in your hold and in that split second that you think How the hell do I get him to stop this? he’s managed to wriggle himself so hard that the stool and you behind him lose balance, toppling to the floor like a Jenga tower.
“Oh shit!”
Oikawa, ever so graceful, lands directly on top of you, his lean shoulders crashing hard enough into your chest that you wheeze out the oxygen trapped inside. The stool almost spun and clattered right on top of both of you before Oikawa kicked it away hard enough that it crashed against the metal fridge and slid all the way out into the living room.
In the dead of night, the noises were loud enough to increase the ringing in your ears that had started when your head slapped against the linoleum floor. Oikawa was still squirming against you but for an entirely different reason now.
“Fuck--YN, YN! Are you okay?” Still sitting on top of you, another breath gets squeezed out of your chest the second Oikawa rolls over to straddle you. One hand lifts your head, palming frantically at your scalp while the other shoves under your shirt to feel your ribs.
“Could you,” you choke out, “get off me before I answer that?”
A startled scoff leaves his mouth before he slides off you and onto the floor at your side, helping you sit up while still trailing his eyes up and down your form to search for injury. Not that he could see much--the only light in the apartment was filtering through the kitchen window and came from the quarter moon in the sky.
“I’m fine, I’m fine.” You bat away his hands but can’t stop your own from trailing up and rubbing your temples. “Are you okay?”
It didn’t take a genius to figure out his cheeks were damp with tears. From the way he sniffled to the way he blinked every .5 seconds, you knew tonight had been a sudden emotional roller coaster for him.
“Yeah,” he glanced away nodding. “Yep, all good here.”
“Bullshit.”
Oikawa gave you a scandalized stare and all you could do was sigh before scooting over to him, getting settled criss-cross style before palming both of his cheeks and yanking his face down to yours.
“I know when you’re lying to me, Tooru, and I know exactly why you’re lying to me right now.”
His first instinct was to roll his eyes and pull away, but you pulled him back harder, hard enough that he flashed his wide eyes to yours in surprise.
“It was a prank, babe.” Ah yes, the words that turn every boy into goo.
Oikawa clenched his jaw and wrapped his hands around your wrists. “The “yanking me off my stool so I can crush your ribs” thing or the “I’m gonna moan your enemy’s name so you almost have a heart attack and cry enough tears to flood a river” thing?”
“The “I’m gonna moan your enemy’s name so you-’”
Oikawa slammed his lips against yours, effectively drowning out any of the dumb-ass explanations you had waiting on your tongue.
“Your pranks are always so mean, baby,” Oikawa mumbles against your lips. “Do you know how much it hurt to think that you were dreaming about being with another man?”
“Did it even matter that it was-”
“No,” he pecks your lips once more before rising to his feet and tugging you to yours. “No, the name didn’t matter at all.”
“Well damn, that’s a shame, because I was stuck between moaning Ushiwaka or Kag-”
“Here’s the thing, sweetheart: I don’t wanna hear another name aside from my own come out of your mouth for the rest of the night. Understood?”
“I-”
“Understood?” You sigh.
“Yes sir.”
Tsukishima Kei:
Ouch.
One long finger pokes into your cheek, hard.
You’d barely even gotten the first two syllables of the ginger’s name off your tongue before Tsukishima was at the ready, stabbing you in the face with a fingernail you were almost positive you’d seen being filed down just hours ago.
Bastard must’ve been faking it.
“Don’t say that,” Tsukishima grunts out tiredly, accompanying a yawn with yet another jab.
Part of you wondered if there was a point to even keeping up the act, but the other part was so pissed you almost wanted Tsukishima to worry that it was real.
You mumbled the random nonsense of the average person waking from a deep slumber and opened your eyes just to squint at the blond in bed beside you.
“Wha…?”
In pure darkness, you could barely see Tsukishima narrowing his gaze back at you, half because he was pissed and half because he was lacking his glasses.
He thrusts a finger right in the middle of your forehead. “Don’t ever moan that name again.”
“I don’t even know what you’re talking about.” You fake yawn, closing your eyes before rolling over to have your back face him.
“I’m not stupid, YN.”
“Are you sure about that, Kei?”
He scoffs. “Fine, then. I’ll play along to this pointless game.”
The mattress quakes as Tsukishima shifts onto his knees, grabbing your hip with a single hand and tugging it hard enough that your back presses flat against the sheets before he throws a leg over your thighs, straddling you with ease.
“Is this what you wanted?” One hand of his grabs yours, pulling it up above your head. Your breathing is more like gasping at this point as Tsukishima trails his other hand down your side.
“Were you trying to make me so jealous that I’d do this?”
“Kei…”
“‘Cause, YN, you could’ve just asked.”
At last, your other wrist is trapped and joins the one over your head, Tsukishima’s long fingers easily holding down both of your hands with just one of his.
“So, do you want to tell me what that shrimp did to you in this “dream” of yours?”
“Kei…” Was it so hard to pull a juicy reaction out of him? You wanted hugs, tears, maybe even a little begging.
Of course, leave it to Tsukishima to always find a way to be above you.
Tsukishima can see the fight die in your eyes and his own glow in return.
“Really,” he hums, “that was all it took?”
“Jackass.”
“Don’t be a sore loser, YN. Plus, we both know that prank of yours was impractical at best.” He slides off you, returning to his side of the bed and propping himself up on a single elbow to face you. “I’ve heard you moan my name plenty of times in your sleep to know when you’re actually having a wet dream.”
The smirk on his face makes you warm and fuzzy yet angry all at the same time. In retaliation, you jab a finger into his forehead before spinning face away from him once again. “Don’t get too cocky there, Kei. One day I might actually dream about another guy,” you fold your arms, “then what are you gonna do?”
Two arms wind around your stomach before yanking you back into a firm chest, then a single leg creeps between the two of yours. “Please, we both know I’m the only man you even think about.”
Though he sounded so self-assured, the tightness of his grip spoke differently. You reveled in the idea that he was just a bit self-conscious of that fact. Because although you’d never say it to his face...
The smug bastard was always right.
Tendou Satori:
“Semi,” you moaned.
“Semi,” Tendou mocked.
“Mmm, don’t stop.”
“Mmm, don’t stop.”
At first, you almost choked on the drool gathering in your mouth the instant you heard Tendou fake-moan along with you.
Now, it was a contest of how long you could keep a straight face.
All the lights were on in the room. The blinds were yanked open and the birds chirping out the arrival of morning tweeted from a tree just outside the window.
You’d woken up when Tendou left to take a shower itching to prank him. At the time, it seemed perfect.
Now your chest hurt with how much laughter you kept locked inside. The second he stepped out of the bathroom with steam rolling off his body, you decided it was time to put your plan in motion.
Oh what a mistake it was.
“More.”
“More.”
Tendou squated right next to your side of the bed, crossed both arms on the mattress just two inches from your face, dropped his chin on top and proceeded to parrot your every word.
“Harder. More, please Semi.”
“Yeah, harder Semi, you grandpa-haired, shorter-than-me, cries-at-the-Titanic-movie, girlfriend-stealing son of a bitch.”
And just when you sputtered out a breathless laugh, Tendou rose from his crouch and stalked out of the room, towel wrapped over his head and shoulders like a black Sith robe.
In the kitchen, pots and pans clattered like Tendou was trying to get the attention of the entire city, at one point even walking back and forth in front of the doorway slamming two frying pans against one another.
“Oh no, I can’t find that spatula!” your boyfriend called out before proceeding to toss out every single appliance in the drawer, allowing them to clang and clash against the wood like they were literally raining from the ceiling.
What was funny at first was now a major issue for the rest of the apartment complex--it seemed Tendou had gone mad enough that he was risking getting (yet another) noise complaint that would once and for all kick you both out of the building.
Ever so in a rush, you slid out of the blankets and made haste toward the kitchen down the hall, stopping in the doorway and dropping your jaw at the sight.
Tendou, maroon eyes flashing with jealousy, held a porcelain plate up over his head with the obvious intent to throw it against the ground and create an even bigger mess.
Luckily, his eyes darted toward you at the last second.
“Hey,” he grinned with eyes so wide and hair so frazzled you actually thought he’d gone insane for a split second, “look who’s up!”
“Satori…” you made your way over to him, precarious step by precarious step. Tongs, pizza cutters, and ice cream scoopers littered the floor while all of your pots and pans lay on the countertop in a pile almost up to Tendou’s shoulder, “what the hell is going on?”
His smile faltered for a second before it came back even larger than normal; his eyes, however, stayed darkened. “Just trying to make breakfast! But I couldn’t find that damned griddle we use for pancakes.”
“Probably because we threw it out four months ago.” Uh oh, you’d finally broken him.
“Oh…”
“Yeah…”
The pandemonium in the kitchen was nothing compared to the frantic look in Tendou’s eyes, though. They flitted up and down, up and down along your body, looking for something you were almost positive wasn’t there.
Then he spoke.
“So… how did you sleep?”
Tense. Tight. Deep. The question sounded like someone had strangled it out of him, and you didn’t dare glance up from collecting the appliances littered on the floor for fear of seeing the pain in his eyes.
“Satori… I’m really sorry.”
“For what?” With arms full of disarrayed utensils, you hesitantly looked towards the sink where you aimed to drop them off, only to find Tendou bent over and waiting to meet your eyes. The words had slipped off his tongue right as you finished your sentence.
“The moaning… like, when I moaned Semi’s name and stuff.” Maintaining eye contact at this point was basically impossible for you and instead you settled for watching your feet as they shifted your weight nervously. “It was just a prank and I didn’t think it would get to you so bad. I’m sorry. Really.”
The atmosphere in the room grew ten times stiffer, almost choking you up--you never thought such a thing was possible with a relaxed guy like Tendou present.
Evidently, you were wrong.
“It was all a joke?”
“Yes.”
“Like, it was just a prank?”
“Yes.”
“To see how I’d react and stuff?”
“Yep.”
“Phew,” Tendou pressed a hand against his forehead and let out a laugh. “Almost lost my cool there.”
Your jaw dropped to the floor and you glanced around at the kitchen. Tendou didn’t seem to mind your temporary shock, though, as he guided you over to the sink to dispose of the utensils before wrapping you in a hug. “Don’t ever,” he grumbled, voice suddenly deeper and huskier, “ever do something like that again.” Then he pulled away. “Now,” Tendou grinned, “how’s about we go out for breakfast?”
You stayed frozen in place, eyes flitting from the floor to Tendou’s suddenly normal smile back to the floor again.
Then you kicked him in the shin.
“Ow, what the hell was that for?!”
You sputtered out a laugh from deep in your chest that was bordering on maniacal. “Oh-ho no, I am so not cleaning up this mess. That’s your problem, mister.” Then you pressed a small kiss to his cheek. “I will, however, go pick us up some breakfast and bring it back here though.”
Then you yanked him into a hug and forced his ear to your lips, lowering your tone deeply and darkly. “And this place better be spotless when I come back.” You pulled back with a smile before skipping to the front door and Tendou could only watch with a gleaming grin on his face.
God, he loved you.
“You better not be going to see Semi while you’re out!” He received the bird in return.
“Love you too, babe!”

He’s the type to jump on you right when he sees you in the airport.
“YNYOUREHEREIMISSEDYOUSOMUCHILOVEYOUCOMEWITHNEXTTIME!”
Talks so goddamn fast you can’t figure out wth he’s saying
Essentially he just freaking wants you to come with him to away games from now on.
“The hotel room’s big enough! So is the bed!”
Innocent boi doesn’t know what he’s insinuating.
Literally bouncing and spinning you around the entire time while telling you about the trip.
At the house he literally wants to help you do everything, hanging around your waist and kissing your cheek every five minutes.
Baby boi is just a sweetheart who missed you bad.
Many cuddles to make up for lost time
Kageyama Tobio:
He’s so excited to see you
Like he starts running toward you in the airport but then he feels like he has to play it cool so he slows down and starts whistling. (the definition of “oh shit, act natural”)
When he’s finally in front of you and you hug the life out of him, he has the gall to scoff
“Calm down, I was only gone for a couple weeks.”
But when you pull away he forces you back in. “Not yet tho.”
He’s the one who’s gonna buy you a million souvenirs bc he couldn’t figure out what you liked… even if the game was only a few towns over.
Kags just wants something for you to remember him by when he’s gone so you don’t forget about him (dumb boi thinks it’s that easy🤦♀️)
More cuddles, but just like lowkey ones at night.
(but when you get up to go to the bathroom he freaks out about you leaving)
(“stay” “I gotta pee” “i don’t care you’re not going anywhere”)
Oikawa Tooru:
Oooh
Ooh
Oh boy this man missed you, like damn
Remember that scene where his lil nephew snitched about him crying after his break up
Yeah… he’s a tearful boi
Like he sees you in the airport waiting for him and he starts tearing up
“YN!” He’s wailing at this point. “IM NEVER LEAVING YOU EVER AGAIN!”
Chills out after getting his solid five minutes of YN hugs.
“Ok so yeah we kicked ass.”
Takes you out on a romantic date. Flowers, classy restaurant, the works. He wants to treat you well after not being able to see each other for so long.
Long walks on the beach, watch the sunset.
This dude is trying to woo you like he did back in high school
And it works
“I missed you” sex on the beach. Nothing beats that.
Really tho when this guy returns from an away game he’s all about getting right back into the romantic groove with you.
Oikawa’s voice saying “Did you miss me?” w that fucking smirk= 100/10 panties are flying
Bokuto Koutarou:
Pfft, are you kidding me??
Any away game it’s freaking guaranteed Bokuto facetimed you every goddamn day just bc he couldn’t stand being away from you for too long.
Even so he still tackles you in the airport.
It was the one time you looked away from the entrance to check the time on your phone and he still managed to catch you off guard.
Ever see those videos of a soldier returning home to see his dog? Mmhmm, that’s Bokuto with you
All. Over. You.
Face nuzzling your neck all during the walk through the airport.
Hand on your thigh as y’all drive home.
More “I missed you” sex, and then cuddling for the rest of the day. Like damn.
When he wakes up the next day and you’re not in his arms, bro literally s o b s
“YN LEFT ME MY LIFE IS OVER!”
You determine there’s not even a point to trying to serve him breakfast in bed anymore considering he’ll immediately notice when you’re not in his arms anymore.
Even so, morning, middle of the day, and evening cuddles combined with him sticking to you like a koala lasts about a week long (literally attached to your hip 24/7), and then he calms down.
Until the next away game...
Ushijima Wakatoshi:
Psshh, you thought he missed you??
FOOL!
Literally approaches you so slowly in the airport.
Like this motherfucker walks in slow motion.
Customary hug and kiss.
And then you walk out to the car holding hands.
You get to the car and are trying to get inside but like… h e w o n t l e t g o
“Uhh, Toshi?”
“Hmm?”
You’re just sitting in the car with the door open and he’s standing outside still holding your hand like it’s glued in his.
“You mind?”
“I have no idea what you’re referencing.”
Five minutes later he’s like “oh yeah, that.”
When you finally start driving home it’s like he’s trying to strangle the steering wheel. White knuckles and if looks could kill, any car in the road would be six feet under.
At home, all bets are off. And all clothes.
He just… missed you a lot.
Waking up at noon the next day in those muscular arms. One of his hands are tracing along your face while the other holds your hip. He’s got that husky morning voice and ruffled hair covers his forehead as he watches you, keeping you flush against his chest.
A slight twitch in the corner of his mouth.
“I missed you.”
Of course you gotta say it back so you can see that once-in-a-lifetime smile.
“I missed you too.”

A/N: Man have I been wanting to write so bad lately. Here’s a lil thingy cuz I’ve really been into the thought of yandere hcs these past couple days. Enjoy!

Bokuto Koutarou:
Sobs ring throughout the apartment as you dig through nightstands and other drawers in sight.
“YN please don’t do this to me! Please, please just let me go so we can talk about this!”
A lump formed in your throat as you shuffled through pens and papers faster, hoping, dreaming that you could make a noise loud enough to block out his cries.
For a man who had been serious enough to plan your kidnapping for months, he certainly seemed quite immature when it came to that plan backfiring in any way shape or form.
You’d only been searching for bobby pins for a whopping five minutes and in that time Bokuto's managed to wail his voice to pieces and give you a headache. You’d compliment him on the newfound talent but you felt it would excite him too much.
“Bokuto, shut up will you?” Frustration had you wanting to rip your hair from your scalp, and Bokuto’s constant howling only made the idea more tempting.
You know the words struck a chord when he gasped from within the closet. Silence followed, with only the occasional sniffle to keep you company as you rifled through the bathroom. A small whoop escaped your lips when you located a small package of bobby pins Bokuto had no doubt purchased on your behalf.
A thousand times over did you thank your old habit of boredly watching lock-picking videos on YouTube--who’d have thought it would actually be useful?
“So… you don’t love me anymore. Is that it?”
You sat crouched next to the front door, scratching the rubber ends off the pins when you choked on your own spit at Bokuto’s question.
“I- what?”
“Please, YN, think about what you’re doing.” If his voice earlier had been an elephant, his voice now would be a mouse. Soft, whispered, gentle.
Heartbroken.
“I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while now Bokuto.” You swallow and return your gaze to the lock, pressing the bobby pins into the keyhole with pursed lips. “The only one who hasn’t been thinking about what they’re doing is you.”
“So you’re just gonna leave me here.” Ah, you were wondering when the waterworks would return. “All alone? Did you ever even love me?”
Delusional. The poor boy you had liked in high school was now so, so delusional. Insane enough to kidnap you from your home, and crazy enough to think you had been okay with it. Six months of unreturned affection should have told him otherwise, but it seemed Bokuto was a lost cause all the way around.
You kept your lips tightly shut, focused more on each click of the lock than whatever grief-stricken words were leaving Bokuto’s mouth at the moment.
“You didn’t?” His voice was clogged with unshed tears. “Not even for a moment?”
Maybe once.
“I’ve loved you ever since I first laid eyes on you, YN.” His voice returned with a new vigor, quiet all the same and yet with new undertones of will. “I know you feel the same way.”
Slam!
An involuntary squeal left your lips at the sound of the closet’s door tearing away from its hinges, crashing to the ground with an ear splitting bang.
Bokuto stood in the doorway, black and white hair in disarray as an emotion swam in his golden gaze. You couldn’t put your finger on it exactly.
Perhaps it was anger.
No.
Maybe sorrow?
Nope.
It was…
“YN.”
Each step he took toward you matched your heart as it pounded, his legs making quick work of the distance as he bounded toward you. Strong arms yanked you to your feet before pulling you off the floor completely. A hand under your knees and one on your back, Bokuto hauled you bridal style back to his bedroom without so much as a grunt of effort.
The emotion. It was fear.
Pure, unadulterated fear.
Fear made tears trail down his cheeks, made his fingers tremble and twitch as he held you, made his heartbeat so quick you could hear it pulsing next to your ear.
“I can’t stand the thought of losing you, YN.” Back to the bedroom. “I love you too much.” To the same bed you’ve been stuck to for months. “And I know you love me back, baby.”
No matter how much you twisted and struggled in his grip, he still managed to lock the cuffs on each one of your wrists, forcing your arms up and above your head with your legs free and kicking on the mattress.
Not again.
Quickly, Bokuto straddled your legs, restricting their movement while he ran a hand down your face. “I know you love me too,” he whispered once more, dazed eyes taking in your face.
Those two bobby pins sitting just in front of the door, along with the rest of them, would no doubt be disposed of. Knowing the bad memory that came attached to them, Bokuto would have no qualms about burning every last bobby pin on Earth in order to terminate such a reminder.
“No, no,” he shook his head at himself. “I know you love me. But maybe you just need a reminder that I love you, baby.”
His eyes brightened at the thought at the same time yours widened.
“No-”
“Shhh,” he pressed a finger over your lips, a smile now taking over his face. “Was that why you tried to leave? You thought I didn’t love you anymore?”
“Mmm!” You wriggled and shook against your restraints, not willing to acknowledge just how useless the fight was.
“Don’t worry, YN. Of course I still love you!”
His eyes darkened. Then his tongue peeked out to run over his bottom lip.
“But I’ll happily show you that if you still don’t believe me.”
Kageyama Tobio:
Trapping Kageyama in the bathroom was hard. Even harder than you expected.
However, with one swift kick to his behind, he stumbled inside just enough off balance that you could yank the door shut and slip the chair under the knob before he had time to right himself.
“YN!”
Since then, he’s been silent. Or, silently fuming. Every few seconds, you heard a huff or a grunt or a growl. It appeared he was none-too pleased to be locked up.
Huh. Wonder how that feels.
And yet, you could find no devices to help you escape. The only furniture that even seemed strong enough to use as a battering ram was either too heavy to move or was currently stopping your kidnapper from escaping.
Nonetheless, you kept searching.
No keys held in obvious places. No sticks skinny enough to pick the lock. Nothing.
Kageyama wasn’t the only one with a temporary vow of silence--even you knew not to poke the bear during a time like this. Over the last few weeks, you had learned that a silent Kageyama was worse than a loud one.
Right now, he was a ticking time bomb behind closed doors, which meant you had to get out now or never.
Do or die.
Should he somehow escape to get back to you, you had no doubt you were in for some serious payback tonight. Though Kageyama had never laid his hand on you before (even while he held you captive), you had a feeling he would lose that level of restraint once your five minutes of fame were over.
Which meant you had to escape some way or another.
There were no windows in the house that weren’t either barred or made of glass even a bullet couldn’t get through, so those weren’t an option.
The front door… it seemed plausible. Battering ram or not, there wasn’t actually too much to it aside from a lock and chain. Maybe your own brute force was the best way to go.
Pain erupted through your shoulder after the first attempt. Then the second.
Third, fourth, fifth.
Crack!
The hinges began to splinter from top to bottom, and you knew the next hit would be your last.
Stepping back farther this time, you readied yourself for impact before-
“YN.”
Kageyama’s voice, still muffled through the door, was firm and loud.
“I will come after you.”
You stopped in your tracks, gulping at the thought.
“Y-yeah? I’d like to see you try.”
He huffed before you heard a thump.
“Just don’t do anything stupid while you’re out there, okay?”
“You best believe I’m gonna-”
“Be safe, dumbass,” he hissed.
Your heart twinged. Oh.
You wanted to hate him for everything he’s done. You really did. But… you couldn’t find it in yourself to do it. Before, when you were just the average boyfriend-girlfriend couple, things were great. When he started getting more possessive was when you worried, and when he locked you up was when you panicked.
But it was only now that you remembered this was still the boy you loved, to some degree.
“I will… asshole.”
Kozume Kenma:
Kenma was never affectionate.
In fact, he hardly ever touched you. In the soundproof apartment he had you trapped in, he usually minded your space, so much so that you even wondered why he bothered with you in the first place.
Maybe you were going crazy yourself, but you couldn’t stand it anymore. Aside from the occasional forced cuddle or hug, Kenma didn’t ask for anything of you, only that you didn’t leave.
It was some kind of mind game he played with you. When you realized he was manipulating you into breaking away from all of your friends and family, he also realized you noticed.
And so, he locked you up to… just keep you around?
You were sick of it. Done. Tired of the mind games.
So while he finally let you off his lap so he could take his habitual bathroom break from gaming, you shoved his rolly chair under the door and began the search for the key.
If I were a lazy psychopath, where would I keep my keys?
“YN, are you really doing this right now? Come on, I was in the middle of my game.”
Of course that was all he could think about. Standup guy, that one.
“There’s a simple solution to this, Kenma. Just let me go and you can go back to your goddamn video games.”
“YN, I don’t… I didn’t want to let you go just yet.”
“What am I, a dog? You’re a freak, Kenma, just tell me where it is!”
“YN, please, can’t we just talk about this?” His voice was no different than usual, soft-spoken and untroubled as always.
You hated it. It was like he had the situation all under control.
Well, he did but you didn’t like to think about that.
“Kenma, please, can’t you just see this from my point of view? I don’t understand why you keep me trapped here 24/7 for no reason! Can’t you at least tell me why?”
He stayed silent for a second, then you heard a small clink.
A key slid out from under the door, all the way out to the tips of your toes.
Your jaw almost dropped at the sight. That was all it took?!
“...Why?”
Why? Why take you away only to let you go so easily? Why hold you captive only to rarely be around you? Why did he do any of this?
“Because. Because I know someday you’ll come back to me.”
“How are you so sure?”
“Because you’ll never be the same after me. And one day you’ll realize the only one who ever really cared about you was me.”
You open your mouth to respond, only to find yourself at a loss.
Without another word, you slip through the door, gripping the key with all your strength.
He’s wrong… isn’t he?
A/N: just a lil one bc man is it hard to pull away from writing completely after 2 weeks of it😓 can’t seem to stop being thirsty in my fake texts, so ig there’s no point in hiding it this round🤷♀️ Enjoy!

Some days you couldn’t stand to look at yourself in the mirror. When you’re feeling guilty after a buffet or just not wanting to face the music of an all-nighter. Maybe even after running over a squirrel on the road.
The back of your mind whispered now was one of those times, but you ignored it.
Tears streamed down Bokuto’s face, flushing his cheeks and highlighting his golden irises. And yet, it seemed he still couldn’t find it in himself to meet your gaze.
“You’re a monster and I hate your guts,” you sneered, letting a foreign wave of fury wash over you. It was like your emotions had been hijacked and someone was pressing all your buttons at once. Your inability to control yourself made you even more pissed off.
Akaashi could only stand by and watch, pain and disappointment reigning on his face as Bokuto bawled like the baby he was.
You shifted your gaze back to the vampire and stepped closer to his bars. “Your head is emptier than the coffin in my grave. You always act all tough, but I know what you really are--a sad, old, lonely vampire clutching onto the only friend in his life while chasing after girls.” I don’t mean that. “And do you wanna know what else?”
Like the prick of a needle, a headache stirred at the base of your neck and stretched to the top of your skull. Small jabs of pain dug under the superficial layers of your scalp and pierced the edges of your brain. Stop please. I don’t mean any of this.
Just when you bit your tongue in effort to fend off the ache, Bokuto met your gaze for the first time in minutes.
Agony dominated his innocent eyes. His lower lip was drawn into his mouth and gnawed on enough to trail crimson down his chin. Each bone in his body appeared to tremble while his Adam’s apple bobbed every few seconds. But not once did he speak.
He didn’t beg you to stop or plead for you to take it all back. There was this aura around him that told you he was going to lie down and take this without even a hint of fighting back. No matter what you threw at him, he was willing to be your punching bag for however long you would let him.
And that boiled your blood.
You stomped closer to his cage and shoved a hand through the bars, reaching out for him only to snicker when he dove away.
“Just as I thought.” You rolled your eyes and pulled away. “You’re a coward. Afraid to let me even touch you. Doesn’t that make you wonder how I felt after the last encounter we had?”
He whimpered.
“Exactly. I was terrified. You tore into me like roadkill. Like you wanted to kill me. How does that make you feel, Bokuto? Do you hate yourself for what you’ve done? Do you even feel bad? Or is it just that the beast you bury inside yourself finally took over and-”
“That’s enough.”
“Oh!” You simper at Akaashi. “Look who’s decided to join the party-”
“That’s enough!” The wizard’s nostrils flare as he shakes his head at you. Voice lowered, he mumbles to himself incoherently while studying you like a hawk. “You don’t mean any of that, YN.”
“Oh yeah? Does your light magic tell you that?”
Akaashi’s eyes narrow at you. A million questions fly through his mind right before you while he reads every inch of your face. Then his lips part.
“Does your stomach hurt, my love?” His tone is surprisingly gentle compared to the scowl he has carved into his features. You stumble back and furrow your brows.
“What?”
“Do you have a headache? Do your toes itch?”
“What the hell are you on?”
His jaw irks and his shackles tap on the iron bars of his cell while he ponders.
Meanwhile, Bokuto sat crumpled on his knees, looking like his soul has torn in two. His head has lowered to his chest and dust stirs on the ground where his tears fall. Both hands lay curled into fists on his thighs, clenching and unclenching in an irregular pattern.
Frustration coils around your throat, forcing you to speak as you grow impatient. “Spit it out, Akaashi. What the fuck are you looking for?”
Once more, the wizard’s eyes raise to meet yours head on as he studies you for a moment, looking stumped. “There’s got to be something… oh!” Standing up straighter, his cuffs clatter and clang as he gathers your attention, watching your every move.
“My love, how do you feel about us?”
“Why does that-” “Do you love us?”
“W-what?” you exclaim, staggering back. In your chest, your heart jumps and stutters, gathering a zoo of butterflies in your stomach. For some reason, the question… excites you in a way. Not in an angry way, either, but more so a “now’s the time, just spit it out” way.
Except you had nothing to spit.
Or, more precisely, you had nothing you wanted to spit.
Yes! Say it!
Like your lips were sewn together, you force yourself to stay silent. No words seem to gather in your mind at Akaashi’s question. Wasn’t it too soon for something like that?
Of course it was. And you… h-hated them anyway, right?... No?
Fuck.
What was love anyway? Was it wanting to spend time around Bokuto and Akaashi? Was it wanting to be held in their embrace for as long as they would allow? Maybe it was wanting to have conversations about the dumbest things that slowly grow more serious and intense, or yell at sports games on television that you didn’t even know the rules to.
Surely it wasn’t any of that, because you wanted all of that.
“My love.” Even Bokuto had perked up to answer the question, head tilting just enough to glance at you through his lashes. Akaashi, however, seemed to read you like a book. “Please. Answer the question.”
“I… y-... I… love… you.” You choked your way through each syllable, then the words came out as easy as a breath. “I love you.”
A giant weight lifted off your shoulders and suddenly you could breathe again. The constriction around your throat lessened into nothing and your chest felt so light you could laugh. The freedom to have control over your emotions and your thoughts was almost as intoxicating as the dopamine flooding to your brain.
Akaashi looked like he could pass out in relief while Bokuto collapsed onto his back and starfished. “Thank fuck,” the former sighed.
It was only when weeps began to emit from the latter that you realized you were on damage control duty. “Oh God, Bo, I’m so sorry.”
All he did was cry harder, body shuddering with every whine. Remorse tugged you to the floor and led you to reach for his outstretched leg, patting the top of his foot just enough to gather his attention.
“Bo please! Look at me.”
He grew quieter, but only a touch as you struggled to catch his eye. You shook his foot hard, but it was only when you used all the strength you could muster to drag him toward you that he finally gave in and met your gaze.
“Bokuto… Bo. I… I’m so-” you bit your lip as a sob caught in your throat.
You loved these men--truly, you did. The thought of losing their smiles, their warm hugs, the care and gentleness they had only for you… it killed you. After today, you weren’t quite sure you could manage another second without them.
These two… powerful, tender, doting beings. They were prepared to risk their lives for you and more; you couldn’t help but feel yourself falling harder for them by the second.
“Bokuto, I love you,” you mumbled through a wave of emotion, “and I’m so sorry.”
The words hit home and you could see the spiral it flung the vampire into. Love, anger, sadness, joy--each one passed before your eyes in his very own as he studied your face.
No one had ever looked at you like that.
And yet it felt like he’d been doing it for centuries.
One hard yank and you were tugged flat against the cell bars as Bokuto embraced you.
So warm. So, so, dreadfully warm and adoring that it stung the corners of your eyes. In his hold, you felt like you could face anything head on, because he-
No.
Because both of them would be by your side. The wizard and vampire before you were willing to take a bullet and more just to see you smile. A love like that was rare.
Destined.
You owed them so much for how they’d loved you.
So you patted Bokuto’s back, running a hand through his familiarly calming hair just for good measure before pulling away and stepping back.
Akaashi’s hand fell from its place on your back and returned to his side before both men faced you.
A rush of responsibility ran through you like a bucket of ice, refreshing you for what was to come.
They had taken care of and loved you for so long, and now it was time for you to return the favor.
“I’m going to get you guys out of here.”
Before they could argue, you dashed up the stairs and out of the dungeon, in search of the man who had started it all.
~~~
As expected, the halls of Kuroo’s mansion were chilling to the bone as you stepped through the occasional moon’s ray in search of the cat.
Opalescent, marble floors absorbed and amplified your every footstep as you made your way through the halls, shoes squealing every few strides. In the heat of the moment, your grand idea to locate Kuroo’s room and steal the key to the cells was… overzealous at best.
At worst, it had one too many holes. For one, you had no clue where Kuroo’s room was. For two, you had no idea where you were. Unlike Akaashi and Bokuto’s home, there was no atmosphere of familiarity and, more importantly, no vampire or wizard to direct and guide you around the place. Here, you were a fish out of water.
Though, you had to admit the supernatural must all have the same taste in interior decorating. Ancient-yet-creepy paintings of landscapes or figures seemed to litter the ruby walls and you barely managed to not stub your toe on the sporadically-placed vases and tables of the corridors. Emerald green vines framed each window that lit your path along with the single chandelier you found consistent with every high ceiling of the halls.
And yet, not a sound could be heard. Your feet began to twinge at the miles you felt like you’d walked in search of… well, you didn’t know what, exactly. If Kuroo found you, you had no idea what to say to him. However, you also had no clue on how to locate his bedroom either.
At this point, you were praying for a miracle while wandering the halls like a lost kitten.
Not a single soul had crossed your path, not even a lazing Kenma who’d barely found the effort to locate a couch before crashing to play his game.
Stuck in a labyrinth of ruby and white halls, you wanted to tear your own hair out for leaving the dungeon with a half-baked plan. Of course, you’d often thought of knocking on any one of the wooden doors you’d come across on your weary travels, but there was some apprehension that came with each potential interaction.
Though you were certain Kuroo had informed everyone that he’d okayed you going down to meet Bokuto and Akaashi, you were positive he wouldn’t be okay with you wandering the halls. Now was one of few times you actually wished you had supernatural abilities of some sorts so you could defend yourself should any one of the werecats housing the mansion find you.
“YN?” Like that one.
A hand settles on your shoulder, somehow scaring even more of the bejesus that had already fled from you when the voice had first spoken.
As you turn, the face that greets you is even less surprising than the smile that rests on its face. Kuroo drops his hand from your shoulder, leaving a burn in its wake as he steps closer to you. The distance between you two could violate the rules of not only basic personal space but also any high school prom’s as well.
“Reunion’s over already?” And there it was--that sly, devious glint in his glowing eyes that you so dearly wanted to smother.
For an instant, you feel like a rat just waiting for the trap’s mechanism to snap down on your neck and end your suffering.
However, something in you urges to not give up so easily. You still had a lot to fight for, and judging by the anticipatory look in Kuroo’s eyes, you weren’t caught just yet.
But… just how could you worm your way out of this one?
“I, uh…” Think YN, think! “Umm…”
Cue the lightbulb.
“I couldn’t stand to be in that damned room with them any longer!” you sneered uneasily. You mustered as much disgust on your face as possible, and with Kuroo right in front of you, such a task was almost too easy.
The corners of his mouth turned upward devilishly. “Good. So I assume that means you’re…?”
Your brow raises before you realize and rush to finish his question. “O-oh, yes, yes! I am totally and completely… over… them. Boy do I really hate their guts.”
Though you weren’t exactly up for a Golden Globe, it seemed anything you gave Kuroo right now he would lap up like a starved kitten.
It wasn’t hard to see that Kuroo was willing to try and get you over Bokuto and Akaashi by any means necessary, but him being so desperate gave you a way past the very own walls he thought he had built so well.
If this was chess, you were almost sure you had him in check.
You just needed to make one last move to really ensure such a swindle.
A breath escaped Kuroo’s lips easily when his jaw dropped at your hug. One minute you were across from him, giving your best impersonation of spite. The next, your arms were wrapped around his midsection and your face was pressed into his chest.
Cologne of sea salt mixed with sandalwood wafted up both your nostrils with one fell swoop, invading and fogging your mind. Though not altogether unpleasant, there was something simply too foreign and external about it that made it leagues behind what you knew. Any day would you rather take in Akaashi’s scent of lavender with hints of spices and Bokuto’s pine and leather.
Not that you were a serial man-sniffer though.
Nudging yourself back to the task at hand, you waited until it seemed just safe enough to search Kuroo’s jacket pockets for anything key-shaped.
The man in your arms seemed too shell-shocked to notice. In the last minute, he hadn’t made a single sound nor movement to reciprocate the hug; instead, all you could hear was the expected mouth-breathing of a dropped jaw.
Ever so slowly, you run your hands along his jacket in what you hope seems like an adoring motion, and yet there are no suspicious lumps--anywhere, thankfully.
No little bumps along the polyester, crimson fabric that seemed to resemble anything but a candy wrapper. Part of you wanted to search the pockets of his shorts but logic told you touching anything lower than the waist for a hug would definitely not end in a hug.
In any case, it seemed your internal debate on whether to cop a feel of Kuroo’s pants’ pockets or not was no longer the biggest issue. Kuroo finally came back to reality and returned the embrace.
It was obvious this was no friendly hug to him; he believed it to mean so much more than that. Long, athletic arms wound around your waist and tightened to the point where you struggled to inhale more than a gasp. Black locks tickled your neck the instant Kuroo dropped his head onto your shoulder with a smile so large you could feel it through your sweatshirt.
He was happy, so, so happy to finally have you in his hold. From what you could feel, even his own hands were shaking at the thought.
“God, I-... I’ve missed you so much, kitten.” He nuzzles deeper into your neck. “You have no idea how long I’ve waited to have you in my arms again.”
Kuroo was in love. Even the blind could see it. Over the centuries, he had fallen for you so hard he was actually shaking with joy from getting to hug you again.
The man before you was lonelier than you ever thought. He was a king without a queen, a man without his woman.
A husband without his wife.
Oh right. He-... We were… married.
Centuries ago. Many, many centuries ago. And yet, Kuroo still believes that bond can be mended. He wanted that girl… you back, and now…
Now you’ve just resparked that hope that he could have you again.
But he couldn’t. The hug was just a ruse; it was just some way for you to get back with your real soulmates.
This poor, rejected cat before you would be left behind yet again.
A horrible, terrible ripping scratched at your heart. Isn’t he innocent in all this?
Akaashi’s words, muddled but still clear in their purpose, came back to your mind all at once.
“He went mad without his queen. Many supernatural species perished under his tyrannical reign, and as a result became extinct. In the remaining villages, he hung posters of you. Wanted, dead or alive.”
As kind as he was, he was still one of the main reasons children are scared to leave their beds at night. Monsters, vicious and uncaring, will attack just for spite. Supernatural beings are no different.
Perhaps, somewhere along the way he had changed. But you couldn’t place all your hope on a maybe.
This was still the man who held the ones you loved locked up under your own two feet. He was still the one who ordered his soldier to shoot when he’d first found you so many years ago.
Kuroo was still the man who’d made you become cursed. He was still the one who’d started it all.
“Kuroo?”
“Hmm?”
“Can I sleep in your room tonight?”
~~~
His room was, of course, in the deepest, darkest end of a corridor in one half of the mansion you completely forgot existed. Naturally.
As if you would disappear any second, Kuroo kept his hand interlocked with yours the entire duration of the walk to his room, and he didn’t dare release it now that you’d arrived.
When the lavish double doors open, it’s like you’ve stepped into a larger version of your old apartment. At least, it was easily double the size.
Directly across from you is a balcony of marble white and rose gold. Flowers bloom along the railing and lead downward just out of eyesight from the glass doors that trap it outside. Inside, meanwhile, there’s a four poster bed large enough for ten with a frame that reaches just up to the ceiling, covered in black curtains, black sheets and crimson pillows. A plush carpet rug leads to steps up to the enormous bed and the two wooden nightstands on the side of it. Directly opposite of it is a flat screen no doubt visible from space and sitting on a cherry red console. To the left of the TV is one black door and to the right is another.
Kuroo leads you inside before you can ogle the room anymore. “You like it?”
Bitch-
“Are you pulling my leg right now?” You breathe out, eyes still trying to take in the sheer vastness of the room itself. “Like… holy shit.”
“I’m glad you like it,” he snickers. “I like seeing you breathless.”
And, of course, the pervert had to ruin it.
His comment sobers you up and makes you realize something--searching for that damned key is going to be worse than looking for a needle in a haystack. Fuck me.
Just as you start inspecting the room with what little time you’ve had inside it, Kuroo spins you to face him. “So…”
“So…”
The grin on his face turns soft as he reaches a hand up to caress your face. The touch, however loving, feels wrong. Like “he’s just wiping his germs on your face” wrong. Deep down, you’re thankful the connection between you and your boys is so strong because otherwise you were sure Kuroo’s charm would have worked wonders on you by now.
The room was beautiful and Kuroo was being so sweet, but now was your chance. You needed to find that key and get out of here.
Kuroo’s face leaning in closer to yours drew you back into reality. “I’m glad you like it in here. You can stay as long as you like.” His pupils enlarge, giving you warning signals like no other.
His head lowers just a bit closer, lips parted, and just when his eyes flutter closed…
Smooch.
Eyes wide, you watch the floor as Kuroo’s lips press against your cheek. “Can you go get my clothes?”
Instantly, he pulls away and presses a finger to his lips, gaze shocked and locked on your face.
“...From my room, please?”
“Y-yeah.” He clears his throat. “Yeah, of course. I’ll go… do that.”
Never before have you seen Kuroo so flustered and if the situation had been less serious than you were sure you would have laughed. Instead, you felt just as antsy as Kuroo, but for an entirely different reason.
Without so much as a farewell, Kuroo hastens to leave the room, closing the door behind him and taking what must have been a brisk jog down the hall to cool himself off.
You wait until thirty seconds have passed after his steps turned inaudible before you hop to it, foraging every visible inch of the room before going deeper.
“It’s okay,” you whisper to yourself as you yank up the carpet, observing a concerning amount of dust. “Just don’t tell Bokuto and Akaashi and there won’t be a problem.”
Lord knows one of them could probably smell Kuroo on you. You just hope they’ll save the questions for a later date. Like never.
No key anywhere. Not in the console, nor the nightstands. Not under the heavy-ass mattress nor behind the curtains of the balcony. Nothing. You even searched in the reading corner that had somehow passed your first survey of the room, on the bookshelves and under the two sofas. Nada.
Summoning the patience to confront whatever was behind the two doors, you opened each one and, for lack of surprise, observed an abnormally large bathroom and a walk-in closet.
For a centuries-old werecat’s closet, it was surprisingly bare. One side was completely empty save for hundreds of hangers on a single metal bar. The other side was only half-full with t-shirts, coats, and suits hanging while jeans and shorts sat gathering dust on the floor. Judging by the look of things, you wouldn’t be surprised if Kuroo came back with more than just one pair of clothes for you.
Hopefully, by then you would be long gone.
The bathroom, however, was much more of a challenge. About twenty cupboards each had their own stock of individual toiletry supplies, and yet not a single one held a key. You even had to perfectly restack twelve packages--not rolls--of toilet paper in the same, annoyingly perfect pyramid shape. He even had feminine products, but you supposed there should be no surprise there.
Obviously, he’s been preparing for you for quite a while. You’d be touched if you weren’t so creeped out by the sight of it altogether.
At last, you slumped out of the bathroom with sore arms and legs. Standing on your tiptoes and reaching up into cupboards took a lot more out of you than you thought. Such pain, and all for nothing.
Especially when you noticed a glint of something sparkling just above the carved doorway to Kuroo’s room.
The key.
It had been sitting in plain sight this whole time. However, spotting it wasn’t the issue. Reaching it would be.
Regarding the doorway, it was polished wood carved into a perfect arch to fit both doors, and at the top sat the sculpted head of a roaring lion. Just at the top of his dusty mane was the key, and no matter how high you jumped, you knew you wouldn’t be able to reach it.
It was high--almost three-of-you-stacked high. The bed was too far away to try and launch yourself, and neither nightstand looked sturdy enough to hold you. So what could…?
The sofas!
They were huge and a long ways away. Not only that, but you figured with the amount of time Kuroo had been away that he’d found clothes for you to “sleep in” tonight about a hundred times over. What was truly concerning was that he hadn’t shown up yet.
Counting your blessings, you didn’t bother wasting any more time. Quickly, you dashed over to one of the black leather sofas and started to push it with all your might.
Uh oh.
No, not “uh oh” it was too heavy; in fact, the chair was actually seated on sliders to make mobility easy.
What was “uh oh” was the heavy steps finally making their way back to this room.
Speak of the goddamn devil.
The steps weren’t patient or slowed either--it was clear Kuroo was done being away from you for so long.
Now or never.
If you got caught, you weren’t quite sure you could handle the consequences, so you stopped considering them altogether and moved.
You shoved the sofa past the carpet and across the wood floor, catching onto the occasional rock and leaving a scratch in its wake--nothing an all-too adoring werecat would notice.
You barely avoided crashing into the doors themselves and hurried to clamber onto the sofa.
Move, YN, move move move.
Barely keeping your balance, you reached for the head of the lion, only to hold back a cry when your fingers barely brushed it’s jaw.
Fuck, YN he’s getting closer. Think!
Kuroo’s footsteps were loud, but not as loud as your heartbeat pounding in your ears.
Shit, shit, shit!
You couldn’t reach any better from the arm of the chair, instead just skimming its pointed ear. A sob built in your throat in frustration.
Please!
Your only chance was standing on the head of the chair, but according to every physics law ever, that would be fucking impossible.
The steps were just outside the door now.
With one more nervous glance, you pushed all of your weight to lean on the wall just beside the door, stepping one trembling leg up onto the top of the chair’s back.
The doorknob twisted.
NO!
The door cracked open just as you pushed all your strength onto your lifted leg, propelling yourself up and-
You missed.
The door cracked open.
“Kuroo!”
And it stopped there. Another pair of footsteps made their way over to the door and you tensed when the door shifted open just a tad.
Then it shut completely.
The knob twisted back into place and two pairs of footsteps receded just a couple yards away.
Kenma’s voice pipes up and Kuroo’s voice whispers back but you don’t spare another second trying to decipher the conversation.
Swiftly, you step back up onto the back of the chair and propel yourself up one more time, stretching every ligament in your arm so taut you swear you felt something tear but you don’t mind.
The key is cold and made of brass, but it sits between your two fingers all the same.
Eyes bulging in effort to hold back a cheer, you’re quick to climb back down and push the chair all the way back to the reading corner just when the conversation in the hall ends.
Collapsing into the sofa, you grab a random book off the shelf and tear it open, smoothly inspecting a random page just as the door opens.
“YN?” Kuroo steps in and glances around, lips curling into a smile when he spots you in the corner. “Ahh, the mini library. I figured you would like that.”
“Yep,” you nodded, allowing yourself just the smallest smile of victory so you can wear it as a disguise. “I’ve got myself acquainted here with…” you squint at the page, before pursing your lips and turning the book rightside up, “Gandalf and Bilbo.”
“Upside down?”
“It’s a talent I’m working on. I’ll show you later.”
Kuroo chuckles before closing the door behind him, dropping an armful of clothes on the bed.
“So I wasn’t sure if you wanted the blue sweatshirt or the black one so I brought both. And that same philosophy applied to just about all the other clothes I dug through so,” he gestured to the pile, “go nuts.”
Setting the book back on the shelf, you rose and stood to observe the clothes. Sadly, the bed was too large for you to stand directly across from Kuroo to dig through them, so you accepted your fate and sidled up beside him while he watched your every move.
“...YN?” His tone was curious and careful as he narrowed his eyes at you.
You kept your eyes on the clothes and urged your voice to keep steady. “What’s up?”
“Why are you so flushed?” His hand runs down your cheek, gathering droplets of sweat that had formed from your stress earlier. “I don’t suppose you worked out or something while I was gone.”
Though his proposition would have been a great excuse, you weren’t exactly the person to spend your spare time working out for the hell of it. Anybody knew that.
“Pfft, no,” you waved a hand nonchalantly, “reading upside down is just really hard. You’re lucky you came in when you did or I might have just passed out altogether.”
Kuroo studied you for a moment longer, leaning just a bit closer before humming. “All right. Then I’ll just say you’re welcome.”
“Thank you.” Rummaging through the collection of pants and sweatshirts once more, you struggled to think of an excuse to get the hell out of here.
Kuroo’s hand moved to rest on the small of your back and suddenly all precaution flew out the window.
“K-Kuroo.”
“Hmm?” The hand never retreats, and instead Kuroo turns toward you expectantly.
“I… uh… don’t think I’m ready to sleep in the same bed with you yet.”
Wonderful topic change, YN.
“And why’s that?”
“It’s not anything against you!” You scramble to find the words, turning toward him and wetting your lips. “I just… I think it’s too soon. For me, at least. I mean, I know it’s not too soon for you! In fact, I’m sure you think it’s overdue or something, but I’m just not that… comfortable yet…” you decide to trail off with your rambling and instead assess the hole you’ve just dug yourself in in silence.
Kuroo does the same, pressing his lips together and meeting your gaze head on. You knew he was searching for something, and you almost let out a sigh of relief when he finally nodded. “Don’t worry. I understand.” And then you notice his hand is still on your waist, but only because he’s placed the other one on your other hip. Then, ever so carefully, he leans down and presses a kiss to your forehead. “One day, kitten.”
Suddenly feeling dirty, you nod and pull away completely. “Of course.”
Now how do I get out of here?
Kuroo lets his hands fall back to his sides and his eyes drag down to the clothes still sitting in a clump on the bed.
Bingo.
“Oh, damn,” you hiss, picking through the clothes. “These ones are really uncomfortable. You didn’t get my favorites.” What you lack in acting skills you hope you make up for with swiftness. “Just wait here, I’ll go get them from my room.”
Kuroo’s gaze shifts ten times more serious in an instant. Like a snake, his hand snaps out from his side and snags onto your wrist, effectively holding you in place just as you turn to leave.
Swallowing the fear in your chest, you spin back to Kuroo like he gestures. Slim fingers grab onto your chin and tilt your head to face his, forcing all your attention onto him.
“You’re not going to do anything stupid, right kitten?”
You kept a steady gaze and refrained from nervous shifting of any kind. You were too close to give it all up now. “Of course not. I just wanted more comfortable clothes.”
With a pause, Kuroo narrows his eyes, glancing your form up and down before nodding. The bruising grip on your chin is released and you bite the inside of your cheek to fend off a whimper.
That son of a bitch was going to leave a mark.
“Don’t keep me waiting long, YN.”
Not bothering to stick around longer than necessary, you exited the room without another look at Kuroo and shut the door with a whoosh. The roaring blood pumping in your ears blocked out any other sound as you dashed down the halls, flying past tables of antique knick knacks and curtainless windows.
Soon, your mood shifted from a state of uncertainty to absolute pride. You did it. You got the key, and now you would get everyone out safely. Your one-man party would have to wait until you actually found out how to get out of here, though.
Unlike before, you weren’t exactly lost. The occasional painting was actually familiar and you thanked your past self for doing a little sight-seeing while being stranded in the halls.
When you spotted the very first painting you remembered appraising--a lone tree surrounded by thundering clouds--you almost yelped with glee.
I’m almost there, guys. Don’t you worry.
By now, there was a faint tint of sky blue just reaching the horizon outside the window. The moon and stars were soon to be long gone, and you and the boys would have the bright sun to guide you away from this hellhole.
At last, you found the corridor you’d entered twice before. Bare as always, it was a sharp contrast from the rest of the house in terms of its flooring. Here, there was very little money spared; unlike the polished marble surface of the rest of the halls, this one was a simple concrete, leading to scuffs of your tennis shoes rather than the previous squeaks.
Nonetheless, you sprinted to the end all the same, making it entirely through the house undetected. You counted yourself lucky that Kuroo actually believed you remembered where your old room was. At this point, you could barely tell left from right without performing the classic “L” trick with your hands.
Biting back a smile, you struggled to remind yourself that you weren’t exactly free and clear just yet; there was still the issue of finding the main exit--or any sort of exit--now. While Kuroo was miles away in his room all the way across the house, that didn’t mean the other werecats infesting the place weren’t on the lookout for you.
Especially once Kuroo realized you weren’t coming back.
You made quick work of the creaky stairs, skipping three at a time before taking one final leap and crashing through the wooden door. Sucking in a breath through your teeth, you hoped the slam of the door wasn’t as loud to the rest of the house as it was to you.
Yet, such fears soon didn’t matter. Bokuto and Akaashi’s heads both lift at the sound of your entrance before both men jump to their feet.
“Darling, you made it!”
“YN, are you okay?”
While their voices clashed, you waited patiently until you had their full attention before brandishing the key with a wide smile.
Bokuto cheers as quietly as he could manage while Akaashi’s brows rose.
“How did you find it?”
“Uh,” Ah crap. “I’ll… tell you later.”
Not wasting any more time, you scamper over and unlock each cell, tensing up when you see Bokuto prepare for a classic tackle hug. Except it never comes.
Instead, while Akaashi fiddles with his shackles, Bokuto lets his arms fall to his side and he backs away from you, suddenly appearing forlorn. The memory of your last meeting down here comes back and hits you like a freight train.
“Bo, if this is about what I said-”
“It’s not!” He glances away with a crease in his brow, busying himself with snapping Akaashi’s cuffs in two like they were made of nothing. “It’s just…”
“What?”
Neither man dares to meet your gaze, but Akaashi’s reason seems more for being on the lookout while Bokuto’s is out of shame.
“You didn’t see the fear in your eyes when I bit you.”
“Bo…”
“No, YN, you looked horrified. It was like you said. I’m a mon-”
Slamming a hand over his mouth, you throw a dirty glare his way. “Don’t ever call yourself that. You’re not a monster, Bokuto. Would a monster bake-er… try to bake my favorite breakfast every day? Would he want to watch magic shows with me or hug me when it’s cold outside?”
He mumbles behind your hand with downcast eyes and you shake your head. “No, Bokuto. You’re wrong. You’re not a monster, or anything of the sort, to me. I don’t care what you say.”
With that, you release his mouth and yank him into a hug, blindly reaching for Akaashi to do the same. When you make contact with the wizard’s T-shirt, you pull him into your arms as well, sighing in relief at the feeling it gives.
This was right. This was warm and safe and so, so right. Fuzzy little feelings bumbled around in your stomach as you sank deeper into their arms, dropping your chin on both men’s shoulders. There was no guilt or betrayal that came with this hug because these men, no matter how little you knew them, felt like home.
For the past few weeks, you’d felt so lost and alone, and feeling them around you now was heartwarming. The world seemed to stop turning and whatever stressful situation you had been focused on before seemed to ebb away in their hold. This was what pure security, pure devotion, and pure love felt like. Two pairs of arms wrapped around your waist, ready to help you face anything from this point on. You weren’t stuck alone anymore. You weren’t unhappy anymore. You were just lost in the embrace of an attachment that had formed over centuries, and would continue in just that fashion.
“I’m glad you guys are okay.” The words, though sounding simple, had been sitting on the tip of your tongue for days now. And you meant every one of them. “It sucked being away from you all that time.”
A soft smile formed on Akaashi’s face as he pulled away just an inch to see your face. Carefully, he unwound an arm from your waist and brushed a strand of hair behind your ear. “And we feel the same, my love.”
Bokuto’s arms squeeze you tighter just for a moment before releasing altogether, allowing his golden gaze to reach yours. A grin larger than life itself almost blinded you, fangs twinkling in the light of the sunrise. “We missed you so much, darling. Being away from you is torture.”
Involuntarily, your lower lip began to tremble as you glanced at both of them, hating how your heart skipped a beat at each sight. Maybe it was fast, and it certainly wasn’t expected, but you did love them. And there was so much more time for you to get to know them better, but now…
“Oh shit, we have to get out of here!” Shaking yourself out of your daze, you pulled away completely, shivering at the cold that nipped your skin in seconds.
Both men snapped themselves out of the haze as well, one snagging your wrist while the other led the way up the stairs. Soon enough, each man had a hold on either of your biceps, both protecting your sides and leading you through the halls.
Initially, you wanted to announce that you might have a better idea of how to navigate Kuroo’s mansion, but you soon swallowed your words when you noticed Akaashi’s calculating gaze as he directed all three of you around. “This way,” he mumbled, jogging at a pace just slow enough that you weren’t completely left in the dust.
The sun was reaching higher in the sky, you noticed, just half of it reaching over the horizon and lighting the sky a dusty orange. The maze of halls and stairs was much more manageable now that you could actually see them with natural lighting.
At last, the three of you reached a foyer. One glass staircase led directly down to the middle of a large entryway, and just a few yards from where the last step met marble stood a pair of wooden double doors. The slaps of your footsteps sounded like thunder compared to the elegant pads of both Bokuto and Akaashi’s feet, but being so close meant no time for precaution.
“Oh YN, surely you didn’t think I was that gullible.”
So close, and yet so far. Just as your hand had touched the curved door handles, Kuroo’s voice stopped you in your tracks and chilled you to the bone.
Caught, trapped, cornered--whatever you wanted to call it. To put it simply, you were screwed. Spinning on your heels, you took in the sheer number of werecats. With no time to count, you estimated there were about ten transformed cats in all, each ready to pounce. Kuroo stood in his human form with folded arms, shaking his head in disappointment.
Oh yeah. We’re fucked.
Bones crackle just to your left and where a silent Bokuto used to be, a hissing creature now stands at the ready. Still human-shaped, each muscle in the vampire’s body now appears doubled in size as viscous claws extend from each finger. Elongated fangs sharper than needles pierce through his gums and a glowing red takes over the deep auburn of his eyes.
On your right, Akaashi’s hands, now completely free of cuffs, radiate a maroon smoke, both pointed toward the crouching enemies. A line forms between his brow as spells wait to be cast on his lips.
While the odds weren’t looking good before, both transformations your boys had undergone make you feel just a little bit better about the results of this battle.
Akaashi reaches out a smoldering hand to push you behind them, closer to the door. “You’ll be okay, my love.” He glances back at you with a small smile. “I never lie to you, remember?”
You nod and step back farther, hoping that promise wouldn’t be his last. Only one thing was for sure, and that was that nobody was coming out of this unscathed.
Across the room, Kuroo’s teeth bare at the action and the black ears that had formed on his head flatten. “Don’t touch her.”
And with that, he pounces.
The room that had been so tense and quiet just seconds earlier explodes into pandemonium. Hisses, catlike and vampire-like both travel around the room as you quiver against the door, fighting back the urge to flee.
A foreign language slips off Akaashi’s tongue in a rage as red mist envelopes the room, paralyzing three cats right in their place. Two others pounce on him and just like that, they are slammed into the wall with a swift wave of his hand.
Bokuto, on the other hand, is drowning underneath a pile of cats. Flexed claws tear into every inch of skin, but he gives just as much as he gets. One cat yowls and flees after receiving a dagger-like fingernail in the eye while another drops to the floor with a kick against its head.
Part of you wanted to help in some way while the other urged you to flee from the house completely. As an unofficial compromise, you stood glued to your spot, unsure if you could move even if you wanted to.
Cougar-sized cats go flying with another flash of red from Akaashi’s hands, one crashing right into the staircase and you cringe at the crack that echoes with it. Blood spatters to the floor and soaks into your pant legs as Bokuto sinks his teeth into the throat of a pure white cat, tearing away and spitting out a solid chunk of flesh.
All the sights and sounds are macabre, but like a car crash, you just couldn’t look away, completely enraptured in horror. Even the scent of blood flooded your nostrils at this point, forcing you to gag and turn away just when a cat is kicked into the wall directly by the doors.
It howls in pain, but the proximity between you and the slumped, bleeding form goes completely unnoticed until you feel a pinch in your side.
No. Not a pinch. The cat’s jaw has unhinged and enveloped your left hip completely, digging in hard enough to meet bone. Tears spring to your eyes and your jaw drops in a silent scream. Shock does nothing to fend off the pain as it forces you to your knees.
The cat scampers away just when you find the strength to release a small moan. Hands grab at your side, and you don’t realize they’re your own until you cry out at the sheer amount of red drenching your hands.
Blood is everywhere, soaking into your shoes and socks. Pooling onto the floor around you. And yet, when you reach to cover the wound, you can no longer feel the large punctures it had left.
“YN!” Twenty feet away, Akaashi throws a hand out toward you while another helps Bokuto to his feet. The door behind you flies open and you drag yourself to your feet, hanging onto the doorway for support as you step outside.
Fresh air never smelled more sweet, and when you reach down to feel your wound once more, you almost choke in disbelief to feel damp yet completely unruptured skin.
What the hell? WHAT THE HELL?
Two hands grab your waist and throw you over a broad shoulder, leaving your head and arms to sag against what appears to be Bokuto’s lacerated backside.
“You’re gonna be okay, YN, we’re getting out of here!” Bokuto shouts over the wind rushing in your ears. The speed the forest floor passes by your eyes is inhuman as the vampire weaves in and out of trees, Akaashi keeping in perfect stride just to the side of you both.
An overflow of blood rushes straight down into your head, forcing you to lift your skull just a little to fend off the dizziness. In the distance, Kuroo’s mansion of black and red brick grows blurry, and yet does nothing to obscure the sight in the doorway.
Two glowing green eyes peering from within the darkness.
Neither Akaashi nor Bokuto has noticed, but the sight of it has caused you to tense up and go still in the latter’s hold.
“Don’t worry, my love,” Akaashi grunts out as both men begin to slow to a stop. Bokuto shifts his hold on you, now gripping the backs of your knees and your shoulders. A hand, Akaashi’s, glows a gentle pink before he brushes through the hair on the top of your head. “We’re going home.”
A wave of exhaustion washes over you, forcing your eyes to droop closed.
“You can rest now. We’ll keep you safe.”

Kuroo and Kageyama Version
A/N: I’ve got like a million ideas for these, so just be prepared. (PS: someone needs to tell the star wars writers to get some yandere kylo ren out here😤 like yall im thirsty)
Word count: 1269
Bokuto Koutarou:
He’s the type to spring to the other side of the room the second he hears the word “Chumbawumba” fall from your lips.
It’s a mewl and whimper all wrapped in one that swiftly and harshly rip his heart in two.
While you crush a pillow against your chest to try and assuage the pain, a wave of horror dawns on Bokuto’s face. He’s watching every move you make to ensure you’re still actually breathing just as the first tear slips.
Soon, it’s not alone as he starts bawling, his whimpers and sniffles leaving his face a damp, mucus-drenched nightmare.
“Oh Bo...”
“YN I HURT YOU!”
You could physically watch as that fact ate him up from the inside out. First, he crumpled to his knees, and then he hugged them to his chest. Muffled sobs echoed around the room louder than your cries of pleasure ever had, leaving you to wallow in pity as your boyfriend beat himself up.
“Bo, I’m okay, I promise.”
It’s a struggle at first, but you still attempt to ease yourself off the bed. Bokuto’s ears perk and his head raises but the second he spots you reaching out for him he springs to his feet.
“NO!” Tears start falling even faster when he notices how you flinched at his cry.
“Please, YN,” he continues, voice lowered, “I don’t want to hurt you again.”
Pursing your lips, you try to take another step but he presses himself harder against the door, hand scrambling for the knob. Just as he finds it, you pounce on him, snatching his wrist and yanking it towards you.
“YN wait-”
“Shut up,” you huff out, gripping him even tighter when he starts twisting and tugging his arm. Without missing a beat, you yank the hand towards your body and press it just over your heart.
His fingers are cold against your hot, sticky skin, but that doesn’t stop you as you watch his expression, waiting for a reaction.
“...Why?”
“Because Bo,” you roll your eyes and press both hands over his own, “my heart is still yours, no matter how many times you get a little rough in bed.”
He’s silent as he studies your hands on his, even more so when he raises his other to wipe the saltiness from his cheeks.
“I... I never wanted to hurt you, YN. Not in a million years.”
“I know, babe. And that’s what the safeword is for,” you gesture back to the bed. “Remember? We came up with it so you wouldn’t accidentally hurt me, and that’s all that was--an accident.”
He sniffles once more before nodding. “Okay.” The hand on his own cheek transferred to yours with a hesitancy you had never felt before. When his fingertips met your skin, he sighed in relief, cupping the side of your face and running a thumb just over the rosy apple of your cheek.
You smile and press a kiss into his palm. “All right, how about we watch a movie instead?”
“I don’t think-”
“If you go out and get my favorite candy, I might just give you forgiveness cuddles.” His eyes glowed with anticipation.
As always, Bokuto was only willing to accept your kindness by working for it; he never thought he deserved it otherwise. That’s why the second you suggested the offer, he zipped out of the room in only his boxers and T-shirt.
“I’LL GET YOU ALL THE BOXES, BABY, JUST YOU WAIT!”
“Bo, don’t forget-”
“SHIT, MY SHOES!”
Tsukishima Kei:
He knows it before you even whisper “ginger shrimp.”
Your lips formed into an “o,” but not a good “o.”
Tsukishima’s eyes widen before he turns away, climbing off you and reaching for his glasses. They clatter to the floor and he leans down to grab them, trembling hands unfolding the lenses and pushing them up his nose.
“I’m sorry,” he grunts. His voice is hoarse and quiet; less scathing than you had ever heard it. Even in a moment like this, you wish you could see his face but his back is turned toward you completely.
“Tsukki...”
“I’m going to... go get you an aspirin and a glass of water. E-excuse me.”
Shock encompasses your face the second you hear your boyfriend--your overly-critical, always-sarcastic boyfriend--stutter for what must have been the first time in his life.
You don’t bother to point it out though because the door is already closing behind him the minute you shake yourself out of the daze.
His bedroom is silent, but not the comfortable silence you and him are both used to. It’s painful and awkward and worries you about whether Tsukishima will even bother talking to you for a while.
You can’t even hear a sound in the rest of the house because the atmosphere is so dark and heavy. A lump forms in your throat and you glance at the clock.
Ten minutes.
Ten minutes have passed since he said he would leave to get you a painkiller. It didn’t even hurt anymore at this point, and truly what surprised you the most was how hard Tsukishima took it on himself.
You decided to go investigate after another five minutes ticked by.
The hardwood floor left a flood of chills racing up your body as you tiptoed through his room and out into the hallway. With only his thin sheets to keep you covered, you sneaked down the stairs and padded into the kitchen.
No luck.
His white blanket dragged along the floor as you traveled past the small opening into the living room, finally spotting your boyfriend.
Long fingers tangled into blond hair as his back curled over, elbows stuck on his knees while he cradled his head.
You chose to stay silent and not disturb him, instead making your way over and plopping onto the cushion next to him on the sofa. He raised from his position and turned to you, eyes snapping open.
“Sorry, I didn’t get your-”
Your arms wrapped around his neck as you twisted your body to trap him in a hug. The sheet slipped down your body but you didn’t bother adjusting it, not when there were more serious matters to handle.
“YN...”
“Shut up,” you dug a hand into the nape of his neck, shoving his face into your collarbone. “I’m fine, you doofus. You didn’t kill me; I’m not as fragile as you think.”
You felt his jaw clench against your chest before he huffed, not-so reluctantly returning the hug with his arms around your waist.
The living room was silent for a moment, just you and Tsukishima soaking up each other’s presence in the early midday hours with only the birds outside to keep you company. His skin was warm and bare against yours, but, unsurprisingly, his fingers were colder than ice.
“I told you that was a bad idea, you know.” And there it is.
At least it was nice while it lasted.
Tsukishima pulled away and glanced your body up and down in what he must’ve thought was a discreet way.
“It sounded like fun, you know. At least I thought you would’ve liked it.”
He set his jaw. “If it meant you never getting hurt again, I’d say we should stick to vanilla from now on.”
“Aww, but where’s the fun in that?”

“YN.”
Bokuto stirs on the ground, whimpering your name just once more while he stutters out a breath. Behind his lids, his eyes stir rapidly but not once does he wake.
The sight warms your heart just as much as it pains it. They’re alive, but at what cost? It was clear Kuroo hadn’t bothered to feed them in the week or so that they had been left in the cages, leaving both their bodies to wither to breathing skeletons.
Akaashi’s cheekbones jutted out in the moonlight as his head leaned against the wall. His lashes gently brushed the skin just under his eyes as he slumbered but he still looked ready to startle at even the smallest of noises.
One of those being your footsteps brushing the concrete of the basement.
They fluttered and slid open, revealing those gunmetal blue eyes you adored so dearly. Even though the dank scent of decaying meat stung your nose, you still inhaled when Akaashi seemed awake enough to notice you.
“YN…?” he mumbled, sleep and exhaustion gruffing his voice. Your heart jumped at the familiar tone and you bit back a whimper.
“Akaashi-”
“YN!” Akaashi sprung himself up from the dusty floor and crashed into the iron bars, shackled hands clanging against the metal. “YN, oh God, please tell me this is real.”
“It is,” you nodded, tears gathering in the corners of your eyes, “it is, and thank fuck you’re okay.” Carefully, you reached out a hand and cupped his face, releasing a breathless laugh when he kissed your palm before leaning into the hold.
Even the smallest touch felt like pure euphoria as Akaashi’s cheek brushed against your fingertips, lighting up a million tingles all throughout your body. A shiver works its way deep through your bones, bringing goosebumps and a haunting reality along with it.
“Kuroo,” you swallowed, observing as Akaashi’s gaze grew hard, “he said you guys were dead.”
His jaw twitched but the wizard kept silent, taking the smallest of glances back at Bokuto through the bars of his own cell.
The action makes you pause and panic, your hold on Akaashi faltering as you too look at the vampire collapsed on the floor. “Wait, Bokuto, is he-” you glance back at the wizard as he shakes his head, reaching a single hand up to press your palm back against his lips.
“No, my love, he’s okay. I promise. It’s surprisingly hard to kill the supernatural.”
“Then why-”
“Trust me, YN, it’s better if you don’t wake him.” Akaashi’s hold on your wrist tightens in warning, but there’s more concern in his eyes than anything. “You don’t want to see him like this.”
“Akaashi,” your voice softens as you brush a hair from his forehead. It’s cold to the touch, a disturbing fact you struggle to shake away before you continue. “I’ve seen him through this phase before, and even then I could trust him. Let me try.”
“My love, forgive me, but you’re wrong.” Your brows furrow as the wizard gazes into your eyes unflinchingly. There’s a concern you’ve never seen before that stuns you for a split second.
Even Akaashi himself seems haunted by what’s happening to Bokuto just a few feet away. You can still hear his whimpers and see his body tremble, but the younger man was right--there was something feral about the vampire’s movements now.
Every twitch jolted his body like a strike of lightning and every moan had the smallest of rumbles layered beneath. His form was curled in on itself, but it seemed like the days he had been in captivity had only stood to make him grow larger. In a single ray of the moon, you could see his hands now.
His nails had grown sharper than knives and each tip was doused in red.
“What happened to him? What changed?” With struggle, you tear your uneasy gaze away from the ecstatic boy you had grown to know. “It’s only been a week--I know he’s gone for longer without… my blood.”
“Yes, when he knew you were safe. Now, it’s been one week and he hasn’t heard or seen a single thing from you.” The wizard stole another glance at his longtime friend. “Things are different this time. He’s changing and losing control of himself.”
Guilt tore at your heart now because, deep down, you couldn’t help but feel this was your fault. Bokuto was in pain because he was worried about your well-being. Back when you were in the mansion, he would constantly check up on you however often he could. When he couldn’t, Akaashi was sent to be the messenger.
Now, he’s had no one to reassure him of your safety. Kuroo could have killed you for all he knew and no doubt that thought had been eating at him for the past seven days while he was stuck in this cell.
That’s exactly why you needed him to see you now, so he didn’t have to worry anymore.
“Akaashi, I can’t just let him stay like that.”
“YN, don’t!” Akaashi’s eyes widened when you twisted out of his grip and moved towards Bokuto’s cell. The wizard reached for you in a panic but only groaned when his shackles once more clanked against the iron bars like a warning. “YN, please, even I don’t know how he’ll react right now! He’s too dangerous!”
It didn’t matter. You had left him to suffer like this and you couldn't stand the thought of just leaving him in there without ever letting him see you in return.
It wasn’t fair, and in your heart of hearts you knew you wanted to feel his touch just as much as you had wanted Akaashi’s.
“Bokuto,” you called out as loud as you thought was appropriate. There was still the variable of you being in what you hoped was a soundproof dungeon to be considered, and you held onto that hope as you tried to get the vampire’s attention.
“Bokuto!”
Nothing. Just another stir of his body and another whimper of your name.
Akaashi was still reaching for you, warning evident in his voice as pleaded with you in any way possible to stop.
“Please, YN, what if he hurts you? I’ve never seen him like this. He could snap, for all we know.”
You stayed silent, letting the thought of being hurt by Bokuto roll off your back. Even if he did, which you doubted, you didn’t want your finding them to be in vain.
If Kuroo were to ever discover you had found them tonight, you at least wanted to see Bokuto one last time and vice versa before the cat undoubtedly took you away.
However, nothing you whisper-yelled seemed to stir the slumbering vampire. In a last ditch effort, you glanced around the room for something--anything, really. Like… that pebble that just so happened to be inches away from your freezing toes. Perfect.
“YN, don’t even think about-” Too late.
The pebble ricocheted right off Bokuto’s temple and onto the floor inches from his face.
For a few seconds, you and Akaashi both held your breath as the atmosphere of the basement grew ten times thicker.
But nothing happened.
In fact, all Bokuto did was stop snoring and even making a peep, and you figured you had found his secret “Silent Mode” button. His body stopped twitching and shivering, and after a couple seconds, Akaashi rolled his eyes and let his shoulders fall to their original place.
“Well done, my love. If I had known all I needed to do was throw a rock at Bokuto’s head to shut him up, I would’ve done that the second day we got here.”
“Akaashi!” you chided, huffing at your failure of a plan. What more could be done that couldn’t wake up the entire werecat clan?
The wizard only shrugged. “My love, I know you wanted him to see you, but it was too much of a risk. Neither of us know how he would’ve reacted. Count your blessings and return back to your room before that cat finds you’ve escaped.”
“Akaashi…”
“I’ll let him know you were here and you were okay,” he gives you a soft smile before nodding to the creaky door you had entered just twenty minutes ago. “Be safe.”
“I-”
“Darling.”
“Yes?”
The voice hadn’t startled you in the slightest; it was only the look of shock on Akaashi’s face that had made you realize oh shit, that was Bokuto.
You swiveled back to the second cell so fast you gave yourself whiplash, your head growing woozy but that didn’t stop you from sprinting back in front of your vampire.
His eyes were open now, his back no longer facing you. A shadow was cast on his body when he had rolled over, however, and now all you could see in his dim, molded cell were his glowing red eyes.
Two flaring orbs the color of fresh-spilt blood pierced your soul from twenty feet away one second.
Bokuto’s hand wrapped around your throat the next.
Fangs bared, you couldn’t even brace for impact before the shock hit you like a freight train. It numbed the pain you were so used to for what must’ve been a minute as you stood there, a statue of horror.
Finally, your brain caught up to the action and you cried out, pushing against Bokuto’s chest as a burning sensation festered against your throat. A loud thumping pounded against your ears as you whined, feeling his teeth dig deeper in than they ever had before. A fogginess took over your eyesight as your knees grew weak; suddenly, all you could do was let your jaw hang open as oxygen lodged in your throat.
“Bokuto, stop, you’re hurting her!”
Stop, please. It hurts.
Oh God, please let me go.
Muffled under the sound of your blood sloshing against your eardrums, you can hear Akaashi’s yelling and then-
Two knocks at the wooden door.
The pressure and pain around your neck all release at the same time and you collapse to the ground, trembling while pressing a hand to your neck in despair. A cry rips its way out of your throat just before the door squeals open.
“Am I interrupting something?”
Kuroo slips in through the doorway, observing the scene with pursed lips. When his gaze lands on you, his dark eyes flash for a split second before he produces a pristine, white handkerchief from the pocket of his basketball shorts.
“YN,” the werecat presses a hand against yours on your neck, urging it away before replacing it with the cloth, “did he hurt you?”
You don’t make a sound, still focusing on trying to steady your breathing while Kuroo crouches by your side. Before you know it, his lips are pressed against your damp forehead and, of course, the reaction is instant.
“Don’t touch her!” Akaashi sneers at him, wrapping two fists around his iron bars tight enough to leave his knuckles white. “You have no right to lay a finger on her.”
“And you do?” Kuroo laughs bitterly as he pulls away, still keeping one hand against your back to keep you upright. “Look what happens at just a little touch.” He gestures from your blood-soaked nightgown up to your shivering shoulders. “She gets hurt.”
You don’t bother sparing enough energy for a rebuttal. Even an ounce might leave you unconscious any second, so instead you stay silent and observe.
Akaashi’s face is guilt-ridden as he stares at you, his eyes just as broken as his heart. Bokuto, on the other hand, is facing away from you entirely. His back is curled over his entire form as he crouches in the darkest corner of his cell, but you can hear the smallest of wails as he does so. His shoulders shiver and shake as he hugs himself, whispering incomplete thoughts littered with “monster,” “kill,” and “YN.”
“No excuses now, are there?” Kuroo sighs and shakes his head. “You were the ones who hurt her. Can you accept that, or are you so selfish that you still want her to crawl back to you?”
Akaashi flinches like he’s been slapped, cringing as he avoids complete eye contact with you. Instead, all he can do is stare at the rag slowly gathering more and more blood at your collarbone.
At that point, you think the exertion is worth it to defend them, but before you know it, Kuroo’s whisked you up into his arms and carried you all the way through the door with a slam.
“Don’t worry, kitten. I won’t let an incident like this ever happen again.”
~~~
“How’s your steak?”
“It’s fine.”
“Too raw? I know you don’t like that much pink in the middle.”
“It’s fine,” you repeat, sliding the knife back through the meat without so much as a glance towards Kuroo.
You know he’s been growing frustrated at your lack of a response lately, but you weren’t quite sure what else to do. It’s been three days since Bokuto attacked you and you still can’t shake it from your mind.
Nightmares haunt you, chasing after you with glowing red eyes. As always, you try to run but your feet feel like they’re trapped in quicksand. You’re never fast enough, and then--bite.
The bandage on your neck is useless at this point; you know it because you’ve had experience in the neck-wound area. Bokuto’s bites, no matter how hard, only take a day and a half to heal. Only after your first bite was there the lasting effect of trauma and nightmares--now was just another exception.
That’s all you wanted it to be, at least. You hoped it was just a little accident (as easy as it is to say after having time to get over the pain). And yet you knew it was hurting the boys trapped deep down in the basement.
Sometimes, you still think you can hear Bokuto crying out your name.
Most of the time, you blame it on your imagination.
“YN.” Kuroo’s snap draws your attention back to him, reminding you that you still had to play nice with him. “Lost up there, huh?”
“Uh, yeah,” you return to chewing on another bite of steak. “Just thinking.”
It was a tad too raw.
“You’ve been doing that a lot lately.”
“Doesn’t everybody?”
Kuroo chuckles, watching over the rim of his glass as you swallow a gulp of wine. “There’s that fire I love.”
You almost choke on your drink.
A sly look appears in his eyes as he stares you down, setting his own utensils on the table to prop his elbows up and fold his hands. From there, he sets his chin down on his knuckles and tilts his head. “You’re thinking about them again, aren’t you?”
Hmm, play dumb or be honest, play dumb or be honest…
“Don’t try to play dumb with me.” Damn. “There’s not much you can hide from me anymore, YN. I’ve known you too long.”
This pisses you off. He didn’t know you. No one really knew you. The only people who knew you were-
“Bokuto and Akaashi hurt you, YN, and yet you still want to be with them. If that’s not blind love, I don’t know what is.”
“They didn’t-
“How’s that bite doing, by the way?”
“Don’t,” you hiss, throwing him a nasty glare. “Don’t pretend you know shit about how I feel or who I care for.”
“Do you care for me?”
“Fuck you.”
“That’s not an answer,” Kuroo simpers.
“Maybe try that ‘thinking’ thing and you’ll find one.”
His face falls and his jaw clenches. “Fine. I relent,” he holds his hands up as a gesture of peace before picking up his knife and fork once more, digging back into his dinner. “That topic of conversation makes me lose my appetite anyway.”
Nostrils flaring, you take another indignant sip of wine.
Kuroo eyes you as you do so, lips twitching as you set down the glass. “Let us talk about something else, kitten.”
“Please no.”
“What did sweet little Akaashi tell you about magic?”
His question actually prods your interest for once and you sit up a little straighter. What did you remember? Only that he didn’t want you to mess with it or you would die… or something along those lines.
“Judging by your curiosity, I’m guessing it wasn’t much.” Kuroo licks his lips. “Though, might I add having your full attention is thrilling, if I do say so myself.”
“Get on with it, jackass.” “At least I get a nickname. One point for me,” Kuroo snickers. You roll your eyes and empty the rest of the wine glass, but that only seems to excite him more.
“Kitten,” he finally begins, “magic can be wielded by anyone. Spells and such can be cast by your average Joe.”
Anyone? Kuroo’s point in all of this was still beyond you, so you urged for him to continue.
“So?”
“So, wizards only exist for the simple reason that they are the only people powerful enough to use and create light magic. ‘If the soul is pure’ and all that other bullshit.”
“Why are you telling me this, Kuroo?”
“Because, kitten, dark magic can be wielded by anyone--though, using it is… severely frowned upon.”
At that moment, you felt a twinge in your stomach. A small churning that lifted up, up, up into the top of your chest and expanded until you almost felt it hard to breathe.
And then the bubble burst.
Burp.
“Oop, excuse me.” You cleared your throat. “Anyways, fascinating story, Kuroo, but what does this have to do with, oh, I don’t know, anything?”
A glint of something sparked in Kuroo’s gaze but disappeared just as fast. “Nothing, kitten. Just thought you would have liked to know. And now, something you might be more interested in.”
“Yes?” Like you were on the edge of your seat.
The werecat huffed, his irises growing thinner. “I’ve decided to allow you one visit to those scumbags, but don’t expect me to be this generous again.”
~~~
Walking down the same hallways you had followed just days ago felt… bittersweet. You wanted to feel excited about seeing Akaashi and Bokuto again but it felt like a boulder had been dropped in your chest, shoving down any ecstatic emotions you’d expected to have.
Something was terribly wrong.
Kuroo wasn’t being any too discreet about the situation either. A forced frown but glowing eyes told you to be wary of whatever you were going to find in the basement.
Or whatever was going to happen.
You knew you would have to confront what had happened with Bokuto. What he’d… done to you. As you followed the marbled paths of Kuroo’s home with two werecats just on your tail, you couldn’t help but feel the urge to curl up in a hole and hide rather than discuss that.
You’d rather eat bugs. You’d rather bungee jump and break the string. You’d rather-
“We’re here.”
The boy you’d assumed was Kenma--and rightfully so--lackadaisically gestured towards the door, not even bothering to open it for you before walking off with his friend.
“Wait!” You held out a hand to stop him, “You’re not… like, supposed to come in with me?” Not that you wanted him to, but you figured Kuroo would want some sort of visual on you while you talked to your soulmates.
“Do you need me to wipe your ass too?” the blond man sneered, one hand on his hip while the other clutched a phone at his side. “Just hurry up before I leave you to find your way back to your room.”
With that, he dropped to the floor just outside the hall, legs laid out flat in front of him while he began tapping away on the glowing screen.
What a delightful guy.
Huffing a sigh, you hugged the sweatshirt around your body closer to your stomach, remembering just how cold and miserable the room had been the last time. Though the horrifying end of the reunion just three nights ago had shocked any thought of temperature from your mind, you still remember returning to your room that night with blue fingers.
Just the thought made you wonder how Bokuto and Akaashi were even still alive in there.
Swallowing all your anxiousness, you tiptoed your black sneakers all the way to the oak door at the end of the hall and hovered a hand over the chrome knob.
Even in the flickering light, you could see your warped appearance. Thick, dark circles framing red-stained eyes served as a heavy reminder that you hadn’t gotten a solid night’s sleep in a week. You could feel your own mouth draw into a natural frown and couldn’t bother to put in the effort to smile.
You knew this interaction was going to suck, but it was the not knowing of how much that made you refrain from even turning the handle.
Just when you made the conscious thought to cover your nail-bitten fingers with a cotton sleeve, you heard Kenma rise from his position on the floor and walk away.
Well that didn’t last long.
And with that, you opened the door.
The staircase was more haphazard and creaky than you remembered. Each step squealed under the slightest pressure, making every move you made sound like rat torture. There was a distinct scent of bleach and body odor that wafted up and singed your nose hairs as you crept down the stairs, a held breath bubbling your cheeks.
Like night and day, the room you now entered had a depressing atmosphere about it. Or, at least, that’s what it gave you. This time, there were no waves of excitement arriving with thumping heartbeats in your chest. This time, you knew exactly what you were getting into.
Starting with Akaashi, who was sitting cross-legged on the floor.
Unsurprisingly, Bokuto was curled up in the same corner, but it appeared like he hadn’t moved since the last time you’d come down.
Part of you was thankful you didn’t have to be met with those glowing red eyes again.
Akaashi’s eyes cracked open the second he heard you scuffing along the floor, and he rose from his position with extreme care. Cautiously, he held up his cuffed hands and approached the bars. He was trying not to scare you away.
“YN.” He mumbled your name with a tenderness you would find in a mother consoling her child. “Are you okay?”
Anger bubbled at the words. Surely he was patronizing you? In the back of your head, you felt a voice scratching at you, trying to tell you that this was Akaashi. You cared for him as he cared for you, and he didn’t deserve a lick of mistreatment. Neither of them did.
Fuck that.
“Am I okay?” You scoffed, throwing him a bitter smile. “Oh, I don’t know, Akaashi, do I look okay? Does the bruise around my throat look okay? Does my bleeding wound look okay? You tell me if I look okay!”
Fury lodged itself in your throat as you charged towards his cell, sneering when he backed away just out of reach. Your hands wrapped around the bars and tightened just enough to satisfy your urge to strangle.
“My love, calm down.” Akaashi looked you over, head-to-toe, with a concerned gaze. “Something’s wrong, just tell me.”
“Aww, of course sweet little Akaashi wants to make everything better,” you pouted, puppy dog eyes on full display. “What are you gonna do? Curse all my pain away like last time?”
The wizard flinched at the jab, furrowing his brows before setting his jaw. “This isn’t you, YN. Kuroo’s done something to you.”
“That’s where you’re wrong, my love,” you spat. “This is me finally being honest with you. Doesn’t the truth hurt like a bitch?”
He pursed his lips, forcing himself to stay silent while observing your every move like a hawk. The feeling of his eyes on your skin only helped to piss you off more. With an indignant huff from your nose, you released your iron-grip on the bars of his cell and stepped back, lifting your chin to stare down at him.
“All right, Akaashi. Hide that anger like you always do, but I won’t hold back. And you know who else won’t hold back?” You drag your gaze to the right, trailing along the musty room until finally landing on the slumped form in the corner of the only other cell. A perfect target.
Akaashi didn’t even bother to follow your gaze before shaking his head. “Please, YN, whatever Kuroo’s done to you, don’t take it out on him. Bokuto’s already punishing himself enough for what happened.”
“No, Akaashi.” At last, the wet blanket spoke. “I deserve whatever she has to say.”
“Bo-”
The vampire cut off his friend by rising abruptly, joints cracking with the movement as he stumbled over to the bars of the cell to face you.
Seeing his face made you pause in your agenda. The last time you had seen him, you never really got to study his face--especially with all the biting that was happening. Now, you finally noticed.
His eyes were back to their signature golden, though they may as well still have been red considering how bloodshot they were. The skin of his cheeks were damp while his lips were bitten and bleeding, and all you could focus on was just how much love he still held in his gaze. It was disguised as regret as he slumped his shoulders in so much he could’ve caved in on himself any second.
You loved it. He had become so broken like an empty shell of himself that he couldn’t even bear to look you in the eyes and confront his mistake. The guilt wafted of him in waves and you drank it right up.
The nagging voice in the back of your head fought back full force and stole the glare right off your face, but it never stood a chance against the words that slipped out of your mouth.
“I hate you.”

Word count: 1789
Kuroo Tetsurou:
In the beginning, it felt good.
“Yeah, kitten, you like that?”
Amazing even.
“Oh fuck, Tetsu, don’t stop!”
Then it… didn’t.
“Shit, pineapple! Pineapple!” you wheezed, shoving his hips away and squeezing your legs together. “Fuck.” You rolled onto your side and pulled your knees to your chest, trying to breathe while a dull pain shuddered through your lower half.
Without another word, Kuroo slipped off the bed and observed you, wincing at the way you shut your eyes so tightly. His hands hovered over your form, wanting to help but… just not knowing how.
His heart pinched, thundering in a way that only came from fear. “Are you okay?” he choked out, finally letting a hand fall to the skin of your back before massaging up and down.
“Yeah,” you nodded, “Yeah, I’m good. I just, uh, just need a minute.”
“Of course, Kitten.” In an instant, he was settling in behind you, both arms slipping around your form and long fingers pressing against your stomach. “I’m so, so, so sorry,” he peppered kisses along your shoulders and up your back, “So, so sorry, baby.”
“It’s okay, I promise,” you relaxed in his grip, slipping one hand out from between your thighs and intertwining it with the familiar one on your stomach. “Let’s just… not do that again, okay?”
Kuroo scoffed, shaking his head and curling closer around you. “Kitten, you best believe the next time I even hear you say “pineapple” in public, there’s like a 50-50 chance I’ll have a heart attack. We’re not doing anything like that for a while.”
You snorted. “Anything? Really?”
“Well of course not anything, but-”
“I knew it.”
“Hey!” Kuroo squeezed your side, and a corner of his mouth lifted at the way you jolted. “I’m sorry. Really, I am.” His voice wavered, and you just knew that if you could see his eyes, there would be a war happening in them. Guilt and despair would be battling it out right in those hazel orbs of his.
“Tetsu, it’s not your fault!” you reassured, hiding a grimace as you swapped sides to face him. “Now we know what’s too much, right? I promise, I’m okay.” A warm smile took over your face as you cupped his own, leaving a brisk kiss against his lips. “Don’t get all sulky on me now.”
“Never,” he smirked, wrapping two fingers around your right wrist to press a kiss into your palm. His eyes never left your face, and in them you could see worry--worry and something more.
Oh.
It was pain.
“Oh Tetsu,” you were quick to wrap him in a hug, your arms around his neck while his hands wandered up to your shoulder blades to keep you close. “I’m okay, I swear. I know you didn’t--and you would never--mean to hurt me. Please. It’s okay.”
Finally, the tightness in his muscles faded under your hold. “I know, YN, it’s just that I hate that I’m now someone who’s hurt you. I never wanted to be that guy.” His face pushed harder into your collarbone and his teeth gritted. “Especially to you.”
You shook your head and smiled. “But that’s the thing, Tetsu. You’re not. The only thing you are to me is the man I’m in love with-”
“And your best lover.”
“…Yes, and my best lover. Sure,” you scoffed, rolling your eyes as a grin grew on your face.
“Thank God. It’s so much better to hear out loud than to read it from your diary.”
“Tetsu!”
Kageyama Tobio:
Your safe word was simple. So simple you never thought you’d have to use it.
“Stop! Stop!”
Until now, of course.
“Fuck!” Kageyama opened his lust-filled eyes, yanking himself away so hard he crashed to the floor of his bedroom.
You, on the other hand, groaned and pressed two hands between your legs, gasping for air while trying to fend off tears. Pain shot up your spine and ebbed into your hips where Kageyama’s hands had been. The haze of passion that had fogged the room was zapped away in mere seconds, replaced with a dead silence.
Your boyfriend scrambled off his floor and popped back up to his feet, pausing at the sight of you with furrowed brows.
“YN…?” His tone was slow and concerned, yet his mind was anything but. When you didn’t respond, Kageyama’s diminishing self-control disappeared completely.
“Shit,” he hissed, two hands diving into his hair and yanking at the strands without restraint. “Fuck!” His face grew red with anger, teeth bared like a wolf ready to attack. But it wasn’t you he was aiming for.
No, no, it wasn’t you. It was himself.
“I’m so fucking stupid,” he grunted, backing away until he crashed into his own door. “Why did I do that?”
“Tobio-”
Your tone was insistent, wanting to be reassuring. All Kageyama could hear was the pain you struggled to hold back.
“No, YN!” he barked, turning and slamming a hand onto the door knob. “I hurt you!”
“Tobio, you’re overreacting! I’m fine!” You weren’t lying; the pain was fading away by the second. The only thing that hurt now was the way Kageyama tried to avoid you.
He whipped the door open anyway, only to stop at your final plea. “Tobio, please!”
It wasn’t the words that made him stop; it was the crack of your voice, caused only by a sudden onslaught of tears. “Please,” you sniffled. “I’m okay, I promise. Just don’t leave.”
Kageyama’s head fell, yet little by little, inch by inch, he let the door squeal to a close. Five, ten, maybe even twenty minutes passed before he turned and made his way back toward you, feet scuffing with every step.
Your tears had stopped by now, but your eyes were nowhere near dry. “Tobio.”
Kageyama refused to meet your gaze, but he still climbed back onto the bed just across from you, letting his legs cross one over the other.
Finally, his hands reached out and grasped one of your own, pulling it towards him and propping his elbows on his knees to give him the right height to hold it against his lips.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered, each word warm against your fingers. “God, I’m so, so sorry,” his grip tightened. “I just hated hurting you like that. And I couldn’t stand that I did it during a time where I should never hurt you, YN.”
“Tobio…” you paused, only to think of the words that wouldn’t scare him off. “I… I know you must feel like this is the end of the world or something, but it’s not. Really, I promise. I still love you, and I still trust you, completely. Nothing has changed.”
He still hadn’t looked up, but his fingers began to run along your hand in a nervous habit.
“You didn’t hurt me. It’s sweet of you to worry so much, but really, you didn’t. Do you want to know what did hurt?”
No response.
“Okay, I’ll tell you,” you sighed, shaking your head. “It hurt when I saw that you wanted to leave so quickly. Can you… can you promise not to try and run away every time something that you can’t control happens? I want to experience everything with you, including hard times, so please don’t just… run away where I can’t follow. Can you promise me that?”
Kageyama was dead silent, and part of you was convinced he may have fallen asleep in the midst of your rambling. The only reason you knew he was conscious was because of the way his fingers kept tracing over your hand.
“Are you-”
“I promise.” Kageyama raised his head, and for the first time in what must have been nearly a half hour, he made and kept eye contact with you. “I promise I won’t leave like that again, no matter what happens. I want to stay by your side forever.”
“But…?”
“But,” he clenched his jaw, and in a surprising turn of events, a tear slipped down his cheek, “but I don’t want to hurt you again, YN. I still hate myself for doing that to you.” His voice was solid, unwavering. It was obvious he wouldn’t let this go for a while.
“All right,” you nodded, sliding closer to him on the mattress and pressing your hand against his chest. The other, still caught in his grip, wiggled in effort to escape. He refused at first, gripping just a bit tighter before letting go completely and dropping his hands onto his lap in the form of curled fists. Finally free, you left both palms resting flat against his chest. “All right, I’ll let you sulk for a while.”
Then you put pressure on his chest, urging him to lie back in a form that was obviously the last position he wanted to be in. With enough force, he relented with furrowed brows and fell onto his back. “YN-”
“Feel free to frown,” your face hovered over his, doused in a nonchalant expression, “and whine,” you threw one leg over his body, “and bitch until your heart’s content.” You plopped down onto his lap, effectively straddling him and his… you know.
“Just know that while you do that, I’m gonna be by your side,” you smirked, letting your hips slide back before dragging them forward again, “kissing and hugging and-”
“YN,” he choked out when you ground yourself on him once more, hands slamming down onto your bruised sides. “Don’t-”
“-making love to you just as much as you make these little efforts to punish yourself.”
“Fuck,” he grunted.
“Tobio, just know that I’m in love with you more than you hate yourself,” you ground into him again, eating up the way his eyes rolled back into his head.
“So it’s gonna be a long ride.”

Sugawara Koushi:
First, the keys jingled in the door. “YN, I’m home!”
“Hey Suga, can you come look at something in the bathroom for me?”
And that’s how, two hours later, you were still looking for those damn keys he set down when he went to help you.
The plan felt genius at the time. At least until you realized you had trapped Sugawara inside with every single one of your bobby pins. Now you couldn’t use them and he couldn’t use them. Thankfully, you had enough brains to shove a kitchen chair under the door while you searched.
“YN, please stop and think about what you’re doing, darling. This is ridiculous.”
He sounded so calm. Then again, didn’t he always? That’s why it pissed you off so much.
“Hmm, let’s see. Fuck no, and fuck you.”
“Watch your language, darling.” His tone dipped tensely, but trapped inside the bathroom, he couldn’t do anything to you now.
“Fuck you twice, then, Suga.”
You picked over everything in the living room. Behind the TV, under the couch-- hell, you even had half a mind to search inside the oven. Nothing.
“YN, you’re acting absurd. Come let me out and just tell me what’s wrong.”
“YN, please don’t test my patience. Just let me out, love.”
Your blood boiled at how level-headed he was. He sounded so damn confident that you wouldn’t escape, so self-assured that you wouldn’t be able to leave him.
I’m gonna prove him wrong.
You resorted to pen caps while he whined, chucking a few at the bathroom door in annoyance when he got a little too loud. “YNNNN please! I’m getting lonely in here. Won’t you come join me?”
When you ran out of those, you moved onto trying to bend forks. “YN, at least just talk to me so I know you’re okay. For all I know, you could be really hurt and need my help out there.” CLANG! You chuckled at the yelp Sugawara let out after hurling the fork at the door.
And then, for a solid ten minutes, Sugawara fell into silence. First, you counted it as a blessing. Maybe he passed out. Maybe he died.
You doubted you were that lucky.
Instead, while you perked your tongue out the corner of your mouth and wiggled a single fork prong around inside the main door lock, you heard a noise that made you want to cry.
*jingle* *jingle*
The keys. The motherfucking keys. He had them the entire time. You could’ve sworn you heard him set them down what must’ve been two hours ago now, but evidently you were wrong.
“You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me.”
“C’mon, YN. Doesn’t this make your efforts pointless now?”
Your jaw clenched at that, and you knelt down once more, jamming the fork into the main lock with more force. Your vicious stabs flooded the apartment, and apparently only served as entertainment for Sugawara.
“Sweetheart, you’re so adorable when you get all bratty like this. It almost makes me not want to punish you, but that just wouldn’t be fair now, would it?”
*Click*
The apartment fell into a dead silence. Sugawara sucked in a breath behind the bathroom door, and you stared in amazement when the lock clicked open.
“Holy shit,” you mumble, hands shaking in surprise. “Holy shit. Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, I got it! I fucking GOT IT!”
“YN, DON’T GO THROUGH THAT FUCKING DOOR OR YOU’LL BE SORRY!” Sugawara’s desperate cries almost got you to stop, but you were already on the high of winning.
“Too late now.” You grinned and whipped open the unlocked door, dashing into the halls with Sugawara calling after you.
In the apartment, the walls were soundproofed and the windows were blacked out, but when you sprinted through the corridors, you were surprised to see you were on the first floor. A clear glass door had never looked so beautiful as you shoved your way out of the apartment building, hopping right over the steps to the street and landing flat on the sidewalk. Your muscles burned from the sudden burst of movement after being trapped in a confined space for so long, but you would make do.
What you had to do now was find someone to help you, like-- there!
A police officer right down the street, dressed in full uniform and ordering from a hot dog stand.
“OFFICER!” You raced toward him, almost tripping over your feet before sliding to a stop right at his side. At the shout, he had glanced up in surprise, but a look of recognition fell over his face at the sight of you.
“YN? What are you-... are you okay?” The cop had warm, brown eyes and short, dark hair fluffed around his sunglasses, but he still didn’t look even the slightest bit familiar to you.
“Do I… know you?” You furrowed your brows, glancing the officer up and down a couple more times just to make sure you were right.
“Yeah- well, no, not really. But-”
“YN!” Oh shit. Sugawara scurried toward you in an all-out sprint, pushing past others on the sidewalk and reaching out a hand toward you. “YN, please!”
Without a second thought, you returned your gaze, more panicked this round, to the cop once more. “Please help me! That guy back there kidnapped me for, like, I don’t know how long, but I just escaped! Please, cuff him or something!”
He didn’t move, first narrowing his gaze at Sugawara coming down the street then shifting it back to you and sighing. “Come with me.” In what you hoped was a comforting manner, the officer wrapped an arm around your shoulder and led you right in the direction of Sugawara. Instinctively, you panicked and tried to wiggle away, but with one “it’ll be okay” from the cop along with a kind smile, you relented and allowed him to lead you back.
The instant you were close enough, Sugawara reached out for you, but the cop batted his hands away. “Suga, stop it!” Wait, what. The hopeful expression on your face fell away in exchange for blankness with a mix of confusion. What the fuck.
“Daichi, please, just help me! I don’t know how, but she got out!”
Oh shit, they know each other.
OH SHIT, THEY KNOW EACH OTHER!
The second that thought flitted through your brain, they were already both dragging you back toward the apartment building, both of their combined strengths overpowering you easily. “SOMEBODY HEL-” Sugawara shoved a hand over your mouth and helped Daichi lead you back into the building, straight back into your little, personal hell.
First, you were sent to your room like a child while the grown ups discussed what went wrong and where. Couple of dickheads.
“Fuck you both.”
Sugawara only slammed the door in your face before talking to the cop.
“Jesus, Suga, I thought you said you could handle it?”
“I thought I could too, but she got out somehow!”
“It’s only been a damn month and I can’t even trust you to keep her safe inside for that long? I never even got to meet her, for fuck’s sake.”
“I know, I know, but now you have, Daichi. Isn’t she beautiful? Just like when we first met her.”
“Right, but now we’re both on her bad side. How the fuck are we supposed to fix that?”
“Let me handle it. I know just how she likes to be punished.”
Well shit. Of course, they were in it together. Because who could possibly have worse luck than you, their darling.
Kuroo Tetsurou:
You weren’t sure how it happened. One minute, he was entering your room, a forlorn look in his gaze seeming almost abnormal on his face. The next, his lips and hands were all over you, all over your body. And you let him.
When you woke the next day, the sun wasn’t even in the sky. A glance to your nightstand told you it was turning close to four am, but only then did you seem to have some true clarity.
Oh God. Oh God, what have I done?
Your body felt covered in germs, sticky with dried sweat and sore with stiff muscles.
He touched me. I let him touch me.
Disgusting. Gross. Used. Unclean. But how could you excuse letting him do that to you? You hadn’t even put up a fight, and in the back of your mind, you remembered actually liking it.
Kuroo was sound asleep by your side, his chest and cheek pressed to the mattress while an arm draped over your midsection. It was hot, too hot. At any second, you were afraid he would wake up and see the fear in your eyes, because you knew if he saw it, he wouldn’t let you go.
Moving his arm was a painstaking process. Every time he let out a snore, you would move it just an inch higher, and after what felt like hours, you were finally free. You set his arm back down on the bed before rising to your feet and padding to the door. Opening it without a squeak seemed to be a worse challenge.
Reek.
“Mmm, where are you going, Kitten?”
It was everything about him that set your skin crawling. The raspy tone, the smug glint in his eye, the teasing lilt of the nickname. When you responded, you were surprised with how confident you sounded.
“The bathroom. I’ll come right back, I just, uh, couldn’t hold it anymore.” Too much information? Maybe so, but it seemed to do the trick. Kuroo shifted onto his side and propped himself up on an elbow, the sheet over his body inching down a bit farther.
“Hurry back.”
A dismissal, and with a nod, you left. Truly, it wasn’t completely an excuse. You went to the bathroom and did your business, but while washing your hands, you tried to cleanse more. Hand soap was lathered all the way up to your elbows as you rubbed them raw, bottom lip trapped between your teeth.
How could you let that happen? How could you just agree to letting him touch you?
You scrubbed your face clean of the stale sweat and dabbed the skin with the hand towel. What have you done, YN? Movements slowing, you let the rag slip from your fingers before dragging your eyes down to your body. Neck, covered in bite marks. Wrists, red from a tight grip. Hips, bruised purple and blue. Kuroo had taken a part of you last night you had never wanted to give to him, not since he kidnapped you from your home seven months ago. He had said he was lonely, lost, saddened because he loved you so much and knew you would never feel the same.
In a lapse of your own judgement, you foolishly said he was wrong. After months of being deprived of human contact, you were desperate for anyone’s touch. Now, you were paying the consequences. But you didn’t want to stay here.
No. Get out of here.
When you left the bathroom, you caught sight of the sofa straight across in the living. Dragging it over was easy, but doing it quietly was a pain. As lightly as you could, you leveraged the furniture under your bedroom’s door knob.
Then you began the search.
“Kitten?” Still groggy. Good.
His bedroom was clean. Nothing hidden in the box in a closet. Nothing hidden in the drawers of his dresser or nightstand.
“YN?” The door knob rattled, but didn’t move. “Really, YN? You wanna do this now?”
The kitchen was clear, and so was the living room coffee table.
“God, it’s so early. Can’t you just come back to bed and we’ll discuss this later?”
Your hands shook the more you couldn’t find that damned key. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing!
“FUCK!” you shouted, running a hand through your hair and slamming the glass door of the console closed. Behind your bedroom door, Kuroo chuckled.
“Having trouble, Kitten?”
“God, I hate you,” you hissed, dropping to the couch and shoving your head into your hands. Not even a headache of frustration was arising. Only a tight pain was growing in your chest. Every time your heart thumped, it ached and choked you up.
“Now, we both know that’s not true. After all, have you already forgotten what happened last night?”
“Don’t…”
“Don’t what, Kitten? I know you don’t want to leave. Do you really want to go out into the real world after I’ve been with you? Can you live a normal life knowing that?”
“Stop…”
“Last night, Kitten. You said you loved me. Said you always would-”
“I didn’t mean it!”
“Didn’t you? Didn’t you beg for more as I kissed you? Wasn’t it my name you moaned as I made love to you?”
“JUST STOP!” You kicked up to your feet and wiped away your tears, stomping over to the bedroom door only to bang on it. “GOD, I HATE YOU SO MUCH!”
The worst part is he never even took it to heart. No, even after your screams and your cries, your pleas and your whimpers, you could still hear the arrogance in his tone.
There was a smirk on his face. After what felt like hours of breaking down, you dropped into a worn out sleep right into the sofa lodged under the door. And when you woke, six long, dreamless hours later, you were back in the bed where it all began.
“I knew you didn’t want to leave me, Kitten. Now stay here and rest. I’ll bring you breakfast when it’s ready.” His fingers, rough and hot, were gentle against your stiff cheek. He pressed a kiss to your forehead, and when you felt your last drop of dignity wither, you reached out and snagged his hand again.
“Tetsurou.”
“Hmm?”
You couldn’t even meet his gaze. It was so full of pure love that you resented the warmth it spread through your veins. “I don’t… I don’t want to love you.”
A muscle twitched in his cheek.
“It’s wrong, what you did to me. Bringing me here. But… but I do anyway.”
At that, he turned away, but not before you saw genuine happiness twinkle in his eyes.
You wanted to hate it. You really did. You wanted to wipe his hidden smugness right off his face. But instead, you pressed your cheek back into your pillow and watched him pad out of the room, only to stop in the doorway.
“Kitten?”
“Hmm?”
God, he was going to keep you in his arms forever. “I love you too.”

Summary: At the Shiratorizawa vs Karasuno game, it breaks your heart to see Sugawara get so excited by Kiyoko’s touch. After a long day of the silent treatment, your boyfriend must show you just how much more you affect him than any other girl around.
A/N: Honestly, this ended up better than I thought. Sorry it took me a while, and I’m not gonna lie, the other requests are probably gonna take just as long. My life is just a little sucky right now, so please have some patience. Still, hope you like it!

Sugawara and Kiyoko were close-- they were friends, after all. But seeing him blush after she held his hands during a volleyball game was too much.
The sight of it made your stomach churn. His face was completely red as he jerked his hands away with a shout before bobbing and weaving the others.
“It’s mine! Get your own!”
You could hear him from all the way in the stands, and there was no way the cameras hadn’t caught some of it.
The game against Shiratorizawa was possibly your boyfriend’s last game ever, and he had begged and begged you to come and watch. Of course, you had agreed without much coaxing, but now, all you wanted to do was go home.
Deep in your chest, your heart twinged. When was the last time Sugwara had ever been so aggressive over your touch like that? You couldn’t remember. Part of you felt alienated the instant it happened.
They’re just friends.
Kiyoko’s not the kind of girl to do that.
Koushi would never hurt me like that.
I’m not jealous. I’m not jealous. I’m not…
Was there really a point in lying to yourself? No, the answer is no.
The bitter taste of betrayal slapped you in the face the moment Sugawara had fought so hard to hide Kiyoko’s contact from another’s touch. Maybe your touch just wasn’t as precious to him.
Maybe… maybe Sugawara actually wanted Kiyoko. It wouldn’t be the first time someone had found her more attractive over you. The girl could wear shoes made of dog dookie and boys would still kiss the floor beneath her feet.
But your sweet, loyal boyfriend was the last person you ever expected to jump on that bandwagon when he was in a relationship.
It hurt. Plain and simple. Your heart clenched and your stomach tightened and all you wanted was space, space, space.
So when Sugawara jogged onto the court for the fifth and final set of what could’ve been his last game, he glanced into the stands with an excited grin to see… no one.
“Where’s YN?”
~~~
The next day at school was hard, but ignoring Sugawara was even harder. Though he wasn’t in your class as you were only a second year, it seemed like he was everywhere, all at once.
Every corner you turned, he was there. Each class you passed, he was inside, asking a question you already knew the answer to.
I’m right here, I just don’t want you to see me.
A majority of it was just pure pettiness, but the last little inkling was fear. After avoiding him for so long, you still weren’t sure you could keep it together once he finally caught up to you.
Last night, your phone was blown up with texts, every one of them inquisitive.
“Did you hear we won our game?”
“Where did you go?”
“Are you gonna answer me?”
“Did something happen?”
“Are you okay?”
You didn’t answer a single one of them, instead choosing the age-old tradition of a silent treatment.
Lunch was the hardest. You always ate with Sugawara out in the courtyard under your favorite tree. Your back would rest against his chest and you would feed him part of your lunch, him always returning the favor.
So you couldn’t help but feel a little guilty while you nibbled on a chip, watching from your desk in a classroom on the second level of the school as Sugawara bolted out into the courtyard. His gray head of hair hung low as he made his way back inside the second he noticed you weren’t there. He shoved his hands into his pockets and lowered his gaze, observing his shoes as he scuffed them with every step.
You weren’t an evil bitch-- why would seeing him like that not hurt you? It was just… you couldn’t forget his look of pure awe as Kiyoko touched him, like he had just been blessed by a goddess.
You knew you were nothing special. No matter how many times Sugawara told you that was wrong, you just knew it. But a part of you still wanted to believe that Sugawara had meant what he said all those times.
~~~
“YN, open up!”
A fist pounded on your door with hefty conviction. It hadn’t backed down for the past twenty minutes, and honestly, it seemed like it never would.
“I know you’re home, YN! Please, just answer the door!”
With parents still at work, you were all alone at the house. There were no school projects or assignments, no homework or work-work; it was one of those few days in a year you would use to go to your boyfriend’s house and “study.”
“I’m not leaving until you let me in, YN!”
After ignoring him all day at school, you knew you wouldn’t be off the hook for long. Sugawara always worried about you like this. There wasn’t a day gone by that you two hadn’t at least contacted each other via phone, so there was no doubt he knew something was up.
But you stayed put on the living room couch, wrapped up in a blanket and hugging yourself while trying to convince yourself the tears were just allergies.
“YN!”
There was a saddened whine in his voice, like a hint of desperation.
You wondered if he was hurting like you. Would he be as jealous if you acted that way with somebody else? Would it pain him to see you blush and value another boy’s touch? Would he even care?
Or were you just being childish?
In every relationship lies one secret insecurity. One person’s more attractive, another’s skinnier, another’s taller. Another may be smarter or another may have a more stable life. There’s always a possible hamartia. And yours?
Sugawara was older than you.
He never treated you like a child, though he had that habit. His friend group was all older, and yours, of course, was younger.
It was only a year, but in high school, that made all the difference. Girls his age, in his class, always spending time around him were bound to go after him at some point. At least, that’s what you always assumed. You’ve never told Sugawara any of it-- of your fears that there was another girl who he talked to that one day might just peel him right from your grasp-- you didn’t want him to think you were being childishly insecure.
And so, seeing Sugawara with Kiyoko made your volcano of unease erupt.
“YN, please!”
But you didn’t want to lose him. God, you really didn’t want to let him go. He was kind and loving and made you feel things you’d never felt before.
“Hey.”
So you slithered out of your nest of blankets and opened the door.
In a word, he looked disheveled. His hair stuck up in every which way, unkempt tufts barely catching the light of your porch. His hand, still frozen in the air to keep knocking, shook in place. But what most rattled you to your core was his face.
He looked… scared. If you didn’t know any better, you might’ve thought a murderer was after him. The cold of what was eight p.m. in March had bitten his cheeks and nose to a nice pink color. Angry lines framed worried, hazel eyes that widened at the sight of you. Or more, the tear streaks you had failed to hide.
“YN,” he sounded winded, “what happened?”
Now. Right now was the moment you had been dreading. Unloading all of your personal insecurities onto another person was quite possibly the hardest thing to do, mostly because you knew nothing could be done about it.
“I…” The words were trapped, caught in your throat in a nasty combination of crap you could only hack up in the form of a sob. “I, um.” And that’s all you could say.
For a solid two minutes, Sugawara waited patiently for nothing. His brows rose in a gesture of take your time, but after seeing your lips stay zipped instead of opening and closing with the possibility of words, he must’ve gotten the hint.
He nodded then pursed his lips. “Okay then. Why don’t we… well, come with me. I want to show you something.”
Without another word, he snagged your hand and tugged you out of your house before closing the door.
“Maybe you can tell me what’s up once we’re there.”
~~~
The drive wasn’t long, but by the time it was over, Sugawara’s headlights and the moon were the only lights around.
The local park sign greeted you once he helped you out of his car, closing the door for you before grabbing your hand and leading you away.
You were surprised at how warm his fingers were when they intertwined with your own, flexing against yours out of habit while Sugawara tugged you around.
“There,” he muttered under his breath, leading you right to the thickest oak tree around. The trees were few and far between in the clearing where you two settled, and just barely in the distance could you see the plastic playground of the city.
“Come on.” After taking a seat against the rough trunk, he pulled you down into his lap with a soft smile. Like always, your back leaned into his front, which worked as a heater in the slight breeze of the night. His hands wound around your waist and hugged you flush against him with not even an inch to spare. Both of your guys' legs lay straight out, his just outside your own but pushing them close enough together that one almost sat on top of the other.
Instinctively, your hands relaxed down onto his thighs, and you finally let yourself relax back into his form.
The silence was nice and peaceful. For a moment, you forgot why he had even brought you there. When you truly let go and wound your arms up behind Sugawara’s neck, he decided to break it.
“So… do you want to talk about it?”
Not really, but you knew you had to. Tonight, you just wanted this undisturbed moment with him. You just wanted to listen to the trees rustle and the crickets chirp, all with him by your side. But you knew that if you wanted more moments like this, you had to start talking.
“Koushi,” you sighed and shook your head, “yesterday, at… at the game, right?”
“Yeah?”
“You and Kiyoko got really, um, really close.” You could feel him suck in a breath, but he let it out slowly before humming for you to continue.
“I think I see where this is going.”
You weren’t sure what to make of that response, so you kept speaking. “You held hands and-- God, I feel so stupid, but it made me kind of… jealous.”
“And that’s why you ignored me all day?”
Out loud, it sounded ridiculous-- ridiculous and foolish. So why did the memory of them still hurt?
“Yeah. Basically.”
You wanted to say more. You wanted to explode and confess, just let loose of all the feelings you’ve kept rammed up for months of being with him, but you just didn’t want to run the risk of losing him.
You loved him. At least, you think you did. It’s only been so many months, but when he wasn’t around, you missed him, and when he was around, your heart raced with excitement. Seeing him with Kiyoko almost made it look like things were one-sided.
“Kiyoko and I are just friends.”
A log broke away from the dam in your chest, increasing your need to let loose.
“Yeah, I know.” Your voice was tight, and there was no chance Sugawara hadn’t heard it. His fingers started dancing along your stomach, slipping up your shirt only so far as the skin below your belly button before splaying along the hot flesh.
“YN, I know you’re still not telling me something. Please, you can talk to me. I’m your boyfriend, and I’m here for you.”
The level of comfort those words held, Sugawara had no idea. Your heart fluttered at just their meaning. Someone was there for you, and they wanted to listen.
So you spoke.
“I just,” you didn’t know why, but your eyes began to burn with tears, “I know I’m not that girl, you know? The one that everybody would love to talk to and stops and stares at. The one that people would kill to touch or smell or something. And I know that’s weird or selfish, but God, I just hated seeing you with a girl like that.”
“YN-”
“Kiyoko’s perfect,” you continued, throat constricting the more you choked out. “I know that. Everyone loves her and wants her, but…” The first salty trail paved its way down your cheek. “Koushi, I want to be that girl sometimes. It’s gonna sound vain, but I really wanted to be that girl to you. But maybe I needed to be knocked down a peg like that.”
“YN!” His voice rose and cracked, and his forehead dropped to your shoulder. “Please, please don’t think those things about yourself. Please.” With an open-mouthed kiss to your neck, he shook his head. “I don’t want the girl I love thinking these things. I want you to be happy. I want to make you happy. You must not see it, but you’re that girl to me all the time.”
Another kiss, this one sloppier as he bit back his own tears.
“Koushi-”
“I hate making a fool of myself in front of you.” Kiss. “I hate how I still feel like a little schoolboy whenever I see you.” Kiss. “Fuck, I mean, my hands shake and my heart flutters and I just know my damn palms are sweating but I still want to hold you.” Kiss. “And YN, when I hold you, I can’t even think straight.” His entire back has curled in over your form like a shield. “My heart just pounds like crazy and I feel so stupid because I keep thinking that we’ve been together for so long and I still get so excited to see you, like a damn toddler on Christmas.”
The two hands under your shirt travel to your sides so Sugawara can turn you in his lap until you’re facing him head on. Then they peel away and cup your face, fingers stroking the skin while Sugawara stares at you with what could only be described as pure love in his eyes.
Just the sight of it robs the air from your chest. Breathless couldn’t describe it, but a rush of elation could. Your stomach twinged with excitement as you swallowed up the unfiltered allegiance Sugawara was swearing to you with his soft, hazel eyes.
“YN, I can’t believe you thought anybody else could make me feel something more than you.” A thumb brushes over your lips while he shakes his head. “You must be blind.”
When your hands reach up to tangle into his hair, he only allows one of them to complete the trip. The other, meanwhile, is caught by the wrist. Sugawara leads your hand to his chest, pressing your palm flat against the space hiding his heart.
“Can you feel it?” You do. His heart is pounding, much like your own. The speed and force of each thump under your palm has you leaning your cheek into his other hand. “There’s that smile I love so much.” His thumb runs over your upturned lips once more, and you can’t help but blush.
“Koushi.”
“Hmm?” His eyes are still locked on your lips, but they slam shut once you pull him into a kiss. A moan escapes his throat at the feeling. It’s passionate and thankful and loving. It washes your worries away and has you confront the warm, soft truth: you’re in love with him, and that’s what matters. You’re urged to separate only for a truly desperate need of air, and even then the distance between you barely grows.
His hot breath warms your cheeks as he dips his forehead against yours, dropping his hands to wrap your legs around his waist. Fingers massage the flesh of your thighs as he keeps his eyes closed, lips searching for yours once again only to be stopped by a giggle. His eyes flash open at the sound, crinkling at the corners when his mouth curls into a confused smile.
“What?”
“Nothing, nothing.” In all honesty, you feel like you're on cloud nine, riding a wave of pure bliss. “It’s just…” your hand pats against his chest, rumpling the white t-shirt he’s wearing. “Your heart’s beating really fast. Maybe we should take a little break.”
Sugawara chuckles and leans back against the tree, ducking your face into the crook between his neck and his shoulder with a hand in your hair.
“Trust me, princess. When you’re nearby, it always beats this fast.”
so osamu x reader angst au where osamu is deeply in love with the reader and decided to dye his hair blonde so reader can cope with tsumu's death but didn't like this idea anymore, he wanted her to love him for who he truly is,,, 👉👈
*GIF not mine*
Summary: A car crash has taken Osamu’s brother away, the boy you liked so dearly. Osamu was dull to the pain, his crush on you blinding him from reality. But when he dyes his hair in hopes that he could make you feel the same, he realizes he may have gone too far.
A/N: Sorry it took me a while. As per request, we got some major angst, but I gotta be honest, I don’t think Osamu’s evil enough to focus on a girl rather than his brother, so I focused more on his desperation to replace what he had lost than anything else. Hope you enjoy!
Maybe it was a mistake. A screw up of the royal kind.
But at most, it was a lapse in judgement.
High school boy found dead in a car accident. That’s what the newspapers said, but it didn’t account for the total grief of it all.
Boy, dead. Drunk driver, critical condition. The navy blue truck totalled the small SUV at eight o’ clock at night after running a red light. Witnesses called for help, and that was it.
Except it wasn’t.
The journalists didn’t talk about the empty bedroom across from Osamu’s. They didn’t talk about the abandoned desk in Class 4b, the bare seat at the lunch table, the still-full locker in the hallway.
Atsumu was gone, with only an indifferent news article to his name.
Practice was never quite the same. Each time Osamu went, he couldn’t help but stare at the floor where his brother once stood. Deep down, he knew he should have cried by now. Bawled tears at the funeral, or maybe let one slip when he saw the first layer of dust settle onto his brother’s dresser.
But the truth was that he hadn’t. Yeah, it hurt, but he couldn’t… feel it. Every sense in his body was numb as he got through each passing day like turning the pages of a book without reading them. Things were happening, he just didn’t care enough to listen.
Osamu guessed the one who was visibly taking it the hardest was you, who won by a landslide.
The night he died, you had texted the quieter twin with wide-eyed innocence, revealing that the next day at school, you were going to give Atsumu a letter telling him how you feel.
I can do it! Just watch me, Samu!
The chance never came, and when Osamu informed you of what had happened, you had broken down in his arms.
And he felt sick for the first time.
Disgust at himself for actually being happy that he was the one to hold you now, it was horrifying. The bile that had risen up his throat lost out to the joy.
Him, Osamu, he was the one you talked to now, each day asking him if he was okay, hugging him and confiding in him with your deepest thoughts.
You and Atsumu had been close in a way Osamu had always been envious of. Teasing and flirting, all of it turned him into a green-eyed monster.
So maybe that was what forced away his ache of loss. Around him, you were almost as happy, almost as teasing and playful, but you had lost that glint in your eyes. You didn’t have that with Osamu.
He knew that was what had sent him over the edge.
Two weeks after his brother’s death, still not a tear spilt. Instead, he spent all his time thinking about you. Your smile, less forced than before. The shine in your hair had returned, and your cheeks finally began to flush again.
Osamu entered the school and made a beeline for the classroom, praying that you had attended school today so he could see you. So you could validate what he had done.
And there you were, slipping into the classroom with the same dark circles under your eyes. They were no longer only from long nights of doing schoolwork.
“YN.”
Your head snapped up and your eyes met his in a split second. Then your gaze rose to his hair. Your lips separated to let out a single, quick breath of air while your brow twitched.
“At- Osamu?”
He nodded, the newly-blond hair shifting to hang in front of his eyes.
“Your… you changed your hair.”
“Yeah, I did.”
And that was that.
~~~
Having you by his side, Osamu could ignore all the stares he received. He never cared for attention, especially not now. Throughout the halls of school, people’s brows rose to their hairlines as they watched you both walk around, hand in hand and smile together.
It never seemed weird, and Osamu had never felt happier.
He wasn’t… he wasn’t alone anymore.
The bedroom across from his never bothered him when you stayed over at night. He hadn’t even travelled into it since the last time.
“Do you want to come over tonight?” Osamu didn’t really say it as a question, mostly because you were guaranteed to say yes anyways.
“Again? I think someone likes having me around.”
He did. God, he loved that adoring look on your face whenever he said he wanted you. Those puppy dog eyes of yours that you never seemed to notice you were giving him made his heart thump in a frantic pattern.
Volleyball wasn’t really a concern anymore. The new setter pissed him off, so he didn’t bother attending practice. His jerseys hung in his closet, unworn for what might’ve been a month now.
It was maybe… two months? Three? Osamu wasn’t sure, but Atsumu had left a while ago.
So he never bothered with the sport, meaning you could come over right after school, or he could even walk with you there.
You both had a tradition now. Homework, then a movie or show, then a nap together. Then Osamu either walked you home or, if it was too late, let you sleep in his bed for the night.
He found that your warmth fended off the nightmares that leered in on him at all hours in a day.
Today was a day that you stayed the night. The moon was already falling from the sky by the time you two finished eating a dinner of box mac and cheese, and thus it was decided that you shouldn’t bother going home.
Osamu’s blond head rested on your chest, and one leg was intertwined with both of your own. His arm was strewn across your stomach, heavy enough to keep you in place for the night.
You had two hands in his hair, head propped up on a pillow so you could make out the shape of the tufts in the black room. It was three am, and Osamu’s breathing had finally slowed and leveled.
“Atsumu,” you whispered, your own voice not even loud enough to hit your own ears. “Fuck, I miss you so much.”
Osamu shifted and your hands stilled, breath held in anticipation. Then he stopped and nuzzled his face back into your chest.
After waiting a couple more minutes just in case, you let out a sigh and combed through the long tufts again. “I’ll never stop loving you, Atsumu. I wish I could’ve told you that three months ago.”
Your eyelids grew heavy with sleep and you let out a yawn.
“I love you, Atsumu.”
And then you slipped into unconsciousness.
Atsumu was gone forever.
His bedroom was still empty, and a few spiders had probably claimed the corners of the room by now. Dust must have caked over every single picture and piece of furniture the boy had ever owned.
His bed was probably unmade, and would never be made again.
He was dead, and nobody could fill the holes his absence had left.
You couldn’t fix Osamu’s loneliness, no matter how much you latched onto him.
Osamu couldn’t replace his brother for you. He wasn’t really the boy you would love, no matter how hard he tried to be. Your words had confirmed that.
Dying his hair was a lapse of judgement. A last ditch effort for both of you to keep his memory alive.
But that effort was futile.
And so, for the first time since he had lost his setter in volleyball, his friend in school, his rival in love, and his twin for life, Osamu let reality sink in.
Against your chest, in the hold of the woman he loved unrequitedly, Osamu cried.
A/N: Not much again. Gets a lil saucy at times, just a warning. Enjoy, and thank you for 1.4k followers!
A/N: Guess who’s going to helllll😙 I spent way too long on this, and my search history rly didn’t need that kinda damage, so ur gonna have to settle for this. Enjoy!
Henlo 🥺👉🏼👈🏼. I really love your writing, and I was hoping that I could request a hinata soulmate!au. I really loved the other ones. Thank you so much!

Summary: You had a nervous habit, and to your soulmate, it was a bit cruel. From time to time, you would occasionally tug on your red string of fate. You never really saw the effects… at least, not until now. “Hinata, are you okay?!”
A/N: Haha, had this one planned out for months but never had the energy to do it. Thanks for giving me that extra push, anon! It’s a little short, but I hope you like it!

The sound of balls whamming into the ground split through your eardrums.
Wham!
“Nice kill!”
Heavy breathing accompanied the noise, along with the heavy stench of sweat as you wormed your way to the front of the crowd. From the second-level balcony, you had a full view of the court, the benches, and most importantly, the greatest decoy.
Though his height was nothing to call home about, something had always drawn you to the little ginger bouncing on the tips of his toes right now. Maybe it was the way he faced every challenge head on, or maybe it was the way he would smile after bounding onto the volleyball court. You weren’t quite sure, and that’s exactly what had you fiddling with the ruby string around your dominant pinkie.
“It’s up!”
It was Karasuno’s first home game. On the other half of the court was a teal and white team, Seijoh-- or… maybe it was Aoba Johsai. You never really knew.
All that was for sure was that the group of five or so girls beside you were all cheering for “Oikawa” with squeals like a local pig farm. When you followed their gazes, you weren’t really impressed. Sure, he was handsome, but you guessed redheads had always been more your type.
“Nice one, Hinata!” At the name, you leaned over the metal railing and peered down on the court, more attentive now than ever. He had just been switched out, replaced with an even shorter male, which… you weren’t really sure how that was possible.
While watching from the player’s box, Hinata drank from a water bottle with haste. You had never been more jealous of plastic in your life.
Soon, the whistles blew, and he was switched back into the game. Brown eyes glimmering, he shifted into the front row spot near a taller first year with dark hair.
“Watch out for that blocker, dumbass.”
“Why do you always call me that?!”
Their yells didn’t exactly reach that far up into the stands, but thanks to the general air around the two, you figured your lip-reading had been more than accurate.
A small smile had settled onto your face as the game moved on, and not once had your fingers stopped twisting and twirling the string. Somehow, the energy of the game had seeped right into your own being, and soon you were biting your lip in anticipation.
“Bring it to me!”
Hinata ran around the setter and jumped, and just when he reared back to spike--
Tug.
His body flailed and flew through the air like a fish out of water. The cringe from every person in the room was almost audible as soon as he crashed to the ground, the plastic numbers on the back of his jersey squealing in protest.
When he finally stopped sliding, he flinched right as the ball that had been set for him bonked his forehead before dribbling away.
For a moment, the entire gym was silent. Some’s mouths were gaped with awe, others had brows raised in concern. Luckily, not a single person saw you, watching your pinkie as though it had whispered the secrets of the universe.
“AGAIN?!” Hinata shouted to himself, breaking the silence and wriggling around on his back in frustration. “She’s gotta stop doing that!”
Oops.
“Hinata, are you okay?!” His teammates crowd around the fallen spiker in a huddle, concerned looks being served left and right.
In mere seconds, your face had shifted from ghostly white to rosy red, and it took you even less time to book it out of there.
Bad habit, bad habit!
###
All throughout your life, you had waited to meet your soulmate. Was he tall? Short? Kind? Mean? What if he didn’t even speak the same language?
Each day, these questions plagued your mind, and somewhere along the way, your habit had grown. A little twist of the string, a small caress of the soft fabric wrapped around your pinkie, and the occasional tug when you got a little too anxious. Evidently, it was just waiting to come bite you in the ass.
Hinata was ruthless now. He’d been yanked out of his chair mid-class, toppled over in the middle of the street or hall, and even missed the bowl once or twice while just trying to relieve himself. All of that, he could handle.
Though, apparently last night had been the last straw. What felt like every minute, the string on your hand would jerk you around so forcefully you almost flew right out the classroom window you sat beside.
Only once in a while would you let it be obvious enough that the teacher had to ask if you were okay. Your notebook was now covered in hasty chicken scratch, eager to get in a line of notes before the next wrench of the string. Random lines of led littered the page from when he had caught you a moment too soon, but you were trying to adapt. There was a moment in between each jerk, and in those moments, you had true freedom.
“In nineteen-thirtysev-... ugh, nineteen-thirtysev- son of a bitch! In nineteen-thirty-- you know what, fuck it. I give up,” you grumbled under your breath, slamming your notebook closed amongst the now-constant tugs of your pinkie. There was really no point in trying now; Hinata had traded in his previous pattern of tug-wait-wait-tug for tug-tug-tug.
You didn’t even bother bringing your hand back up to your desk, instead deciding to let it flail around and dangle over the edge of the wooden surface.
Sighs of relief fill the classroom as soon as the bell rings, and you snag your backpack off the floor in the nick of time. One large rip of the string has you scrambling out into the hallway, crashing into a locker and trying to stabilize your footing.
“Woah, watch it!”
“Yeah, yeah, sorry.” The student seems to either have a stick up his ass no different than a popsicle or maybe the wave of your nonchalant hand didn’t account for much of an apology. Either way, you didn’t get to stick around for long, because soon your soulmate’s pulling is practically dragging you down the hall, bouncing off the occasional student like bumper cars.
“I swear, Kageyama, she’ll be here. Just hold on for a second.”
Over the hoards of students stampeding in the opposite direction of you, you hear his voice. While you expected a vengeful snicker, you were pleasantly surprised with a giddy smile.
Through the bodies moving slower than midday traffic, you saw Hinata, orange hair bobbing up and down in a school window’s gleam.
Bob and weave. Bob and weave.
When you surface is when you see it. Your soulmate’s not simply pulling you toward him in a conventional way. No, rather, he’s reeling the string around his other hand like he caught a fish.
“YN?” His movements halt and in true ragdoll fashion, you do as well.
“Sup.”
Hinata, the guy you had been crushing on for your entire first year of high school, was your soulmate. Last night, you could barely go to sleep with all your excitement bubbling through your veins. Your smile had been as large as the moon itself as you wiggled around on your bed, kicking your feet whenever the pent up energy came to be too much.
Now? That was a different story.
No less had it been a small wave of giddiness, but it was more a wave of pure elation. Endorphins swam around your bloodstream enough to make your head fuzzy, but making eye contact with him hadn’t been the only cause.
No, because in seconds, Hinata had covered the distance between you two and tackled you like an ecstatic puppy. You were high on the rush of first touch, high on the rush of finally having him hold you in his arms.
“I finally found you,” his voice is muffled by your shoulder and he’s got your school jacket bawled up in two fists. There’s a smile; you can almost feel him trembling against you in euphoria, but he’s not alone.
Every nerve ending is set on fire when your arms wrap around him too. Unable to hold back your happiness, you release a small giggle that has him pressing you impossibly closer.
“Yeah, you found me.”
With that, he leans back, lips pursed in uncertainty.
“Umm, so do you wanna… like, erm, come watch me practice? I promise I’ll take you out after!”
Seeing just how nervous he could be almost made you relax on instinct. An easy smile works its way onto your face. “Yeah,” you nod, body still abuzz with the tingles of his touch, “yeah, that sounds good.”
“Great!”
Before you know it, Hinata’s encompassed your hand in his own warm one, leading you all the way out the school and to the second gym with a bored Kageyama on your tail.
“You gotta promise me one thing, though, before we go in there, YN.”
“Sure, what’s up?”
“Swear you won’t tug on the red string, okay? You have a terrible habit, and it always messes me up when I play!”

A/N: Just a short little thing cuz I was feeling big brained. Enjoy!
Word count: 2005
Oikawa Tooru:
On the average day, I think he kisses with a smugness often found in the form of a curled lip. He likes the idea that he has you, and that he knows you’re not going anywhere anytime soon.
His lips are always soft, smooth with the chapstick he always keeps handy. Most likely cherry-flavored because he likes the slightest pink tint it provides.
Normally, his hands are in your hair. Oikawa likes combing through your strands, almost as if to encourage you to do the same.
Yes, he adores it when you comb through his hair. Tug on it or just brush through it, whatever you gotta do to give his scalp those eye-rolling sensations.
The first kiss is never the last, and it’s rarely the highlight of the show. The second kiss is much more wanton; he forces as much passion in it as he can, whenever, wherever.
You’re never the one to open your eyes first; Oikawa prides himself in blowing your mind with a kiss that takes you a moment to process it. Not only that, but he also likes to see the little dazed smile you wear afterwards. No matter how hard it is, he will always force his eyes open just to see your face.
Bokuto Koutarou:
Oftentimes, Bokuto’s kisses are always giddy and filled with smiles. Usually, it’s after a game or a practice. While Oikawa uses kisses for pleasure, the Fukurodani captain uses kisses as greetings.
It shouldn’t surprise you that you accidentally crash your teeth together or bump each other’s noses from time to time. The pain’s never worth thinking about for long, because as soon as you two find your groove, you’re off to the races.
Bokuto’s not afraid to be touchy-feely, and God does he love feeling you. His hands will wander for a split second, but, after a few seconds, they always find home on your butt.
He likes your hands against his chest. It feels like he’s surprised you with the kiss. You usually throw your hands up against his chest to cushion the blow when his lips land on yours, and it works about half the time.
After a kiss, he separates only to litter your face with small pecks, eating up the little giggle you give off.
When you guys are at that stage, after every kiss will come along a small “I love you,” said with glowing eyes that deliver the emotions Bokuto couldn’t communicate with words.
His kisses are always rushed, not too much, but enough to frustrate you when it steals your breath away all too suddenly. His lips are only chapped because he licks them too much in excitement; it’s just another little perk of his you love.
Terushima Yuuji:
Terushima likes to kiss you whenever he can. He’s got a wide array of kisses, but the one you receive most is heated, and of course a little tongue is mixed in.
He’s a very optimistic guy, but he can become serious when it’s necessary. Thus, I think his kisses always start with a little “hello” as he presses his forehead against yours, then he waits for you to lean in before he dips his head and responds. There’s the slightest hint of a smile on his face when you two kiss, but it slips away the more intense it becomes.
Suddenly, it’s heavy breathing as he cups your face, pulling you closer and not wanting to let go. His tongue asks for permission about fifty percent of the time at this point in your relationship, only because he knows that he can drive you up the walls with that piercing of his.
Your hands fall to his waist, where they clench and unclench depending on how out of breath you are. That one pesky strand of hair on his forehead tickles your own, but you’ve grown to ignore it.
Finally, when the heated kiss ends, Terushima likes to pull away quickly, smirking and waiting for you to open your eyes in shock. When you do, he drowns himself in the sight of your blown-out pupils.
His thumbs are always a rough texture against your cheek thanks to how often he practices, but Terushima likes to slowly trace them over the curves over your cheeks, almost as if he’s trying to wipe away the flush that’s grown there. He likes the feeling of your heated skin under his fingertips.
Both of your hearts are racing, and Terushima will let out a little breathless sigh before pulling away completely and capturing your hand in his. “Let’s go home, baby.” He’ll kiss the back of your hand, letting his tongue slip out for a split second and chuckling at the grossed out reaction you always provide.
Sawamura Daichi:
Daichi hands out kisses sparingly, even in private. On a normal day, he’ll only greet you with a swift kiss to the forehead before holding your hand in his and walking beside you to school.
However, when you do kiss, he’s always gentle. These moments are precious to him, and he would hate to rush them for the both of you just for the sake of a little satisfaction.
Normally, they happen after a hug. He pulls away from your shoulder and leans your forehead against his, waiting to see you look into his eyes before pressing a soft kiss to your lips. It’s just a preview.
The second kiss is more drawn out. He presses his lips against yours, and they’re smooth because of the plain chapstick he habitually puts on every morning after waking up. It’s careful, almost like Daichi wants to remember every little detail.
While one hand tilts your jaw so he can kiss you deeper, the other lies at the small of your back, pressing you that much closer to his chest.
He likes your hands at the back of his neck, just barely dipping into the hair along his nape. When your fingernails scratch that little spot of his that makes him groan, that’s when he pulls away, hot breath mingling with your own in the miniscule space between your pleased faces.
Daichi feels like he could never get enough of you, so before pulling away, he’ll press just a small kiss to your lips that you willingly return. The hand on your chin moves to brush away some hair that had fallen into your face, and he’ll push it behind your ear before leading you away, to go home to study or continue the makeout session, whichever option you prefer.
Kuroo Tetsurou:
Kisses with Kuroo are quick and teasing, usually found between classes and in hallways.
He’ll sneak up behind you and spin you around by your hips, tugging you into a kiss that quickly muffles your surprised squeal.
As always, you melt into the kiss, letting out a small moan when he teasingly bites on your lower lip. You’ve noticed that over the years, he’s bitten your lips more than you ever had.
At school, they’re always slow. Kuroo likes taking his time to truly lose himself in it. He doesn’t give in to his wandering hands, not after the most recent time when you punished him for pinching your ass in the middle of the hall right in front of everyone. Two weeks without sex and he was willing to listen to your every demand about PDA.
At home, however, your body is free game. In the privacy of his apartment, Kuroo always has the kiss lead to something more. He lets you know this with an eager swipe of his tongue along your lower lip. After being given permission, he’s instantly inside your mouth and winning the battle for dominance, but he still loves the little fight you like to put up once in awhile.
Kuroo’s hands during a kiss are always below the chest. They wander your waist, your hips, your ass, about as far as he can get before he decides to take things to the next level. A hand pats the back of your thigh, and that’s the only signal you need to wrap your legs around him and let him carry you to the bedroom.
When Kuroo pulls away from kisses, it’s almost like he baits you to want more. A string of saliva connects the two of you, and no matter where it lands, he’ll clean it right up. The movement as he separates from you is so slow you don’t even realize he’s gone until you notice that you can breathe once again. Subconsciously, you always chase after him, and you’re slow to open your eyes.
“Let me see, Kitten.” A thumb brushes on the skin just above your cheek and that’s the sign he wants to see how blissed out you are. The second he sees how blown out your pupils are, his lips attack yours again, aching to taste that much more of you.
While you know he doesn’t use chapstick or anything on a daily basis, his lips are normally soft. Some days, after a volleyball game or practice, they might be cracked, and only then will you taste the tang of mango chapstick, but other than that, his lips are only naturally soft.
Ushijima Wakatoshi:
Kisses with Ushijima are always initiated by you, and you alone. The only time you get him to kiss you first is when you ask, and even then he will occasionally pause millimeters away from your lips and wait for you to cover the remaining distance.
You wish he would kiss you more though, as he’s surprisingly good at it.
While in the beginning, you assumed he would be a little clumsy and awkward, Ushijima was basically a natural. Kissing you was like breathing air to him, and took him little to no time to figure out what you liked.
During a kiss, Ushijima doesn’t really set the pace or care where your hands go. Though, if you were to ask, he would have to admit that he likes your hands on his face. There’s something about you cupping his face and pulling him in that makes him almost want more.
With his hands, Ushijima’s quite traditional, and they always land on your hips. You like to feel them flinch when you suddenly nibble on his lips or press your tongue against his mouth.
His lips have the bitter taste of Carmex, and though you’ve begged him to switch to something more appealing, he’s surprisingly unyielding about it. He says it’s healing and beneficial, and there’s really no other purpose for chapstick that matters other than those.
The average kiss with Ushijima is a little forceful. His lips press against yours almost harshly, and sometimes you wonder if he actually does like it as much as you. There are times where you try to end the kiss but apparently it's much too soon for him. He’ll chase after your lips, and on these rare occasions, a hand will stray from your hips and press against the back of your head, pulling you back in for more.
When you do manage to separate from Ushijima, he has the cutest little quirk of brushing his nose against yours for just a split second. Don’t bother asking him about it though, as he claims he has no idea what you’re talking about. Still, in these precious moments after the kiss, his face is still as blank as ever, but the hair hanging down on his forehead is ruffled and sticking out wildly. Your hands on his face hide the flush behind them, but if you spread your fingers, the red tint is slightly visible on his tanned skin.
“How was that? Not too much of a pain, right?”
“I would not consider it a waste of my time if we were to kiss again, I suppose.”
Really, that’s the best response you can squeeze out of him.
