In the rewind au does Wukong have Mk on his shoulders/back more often? Mama monkeys have their babies on their backs whenever they’re little, I think it’d be cute if Wukong just mindlessly grabbed Mk and tossed him up on his shoulders when ever the kid was just standing around.

This is perfect to show their relationship. Same for MK and Mei in the future. I don’t believe that ‘The Soldier and The Harbinger’ is a thing. They love each other too much for that. Too much loyalty and trust built off of mortality and trust to become like The Hero and The Warrior.

Using snippet of a song from EPIC: The Musical I've created my first LMK Animatic. Hope you all enjoy! CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR SEASON 4

Mk can use creation magic, usually used play doh when he was younger. When he’s older, before he picks up the staff he makes an eternal companion.

Qi Ying Zi, Mk’s ‘shadow reflection’, is a demon of no specific animal.

Here’s a little snippet that I’ve written so far:

Mk smiles to himself, humming as he molds his clay into the vague shape of a person before grabbing a bit more. He molds pointed ears, a thin and pointed tail, curly hair, and claws. He grins to himself, proud of his first work of clay. “Qi Ying Zi,” Mk announces as he sets his creation down to dry. “My shadow, my friend,” he tells the little thing, reaching for his sketchbook to plan out colors.

Eventually the teen decides on making Ying Zi purples, black, and grays with gold tints. Yeah, then Ying can be there own person while still being Mk’s shadow. The teen sets his colors aside to start on clothes designs. He knows how to sew enough to make Ying little clothes, it’s not like his clayworks ever becomes bigger than he made them.

Mk smiles to himself as he works, technopop filling the room with noise. He hums along, cheerful and excited to see how this figurine will act.

My idea is basically, Mk makes a friend, expecting them to stay small enough to fit in his pocket. Instead he makes a demon companion that’s human sized and prone to following his creator around. Mk throws out his clay and sells his kiln.

Mk promises Ying Zi to never make another Creation. Without an outlet for his Creation power, Ying Zi starts getting stronger. Ying Zi becomes sort of like Macaque, a ‘shadow’ of the original. Except Mk, as shown multiple times in the show, would never leave his shadow like Wukong did his.

A possessed little toy will be replaced when a newer one comes.

It has been a while since I updated this au, rip. Anyways, I caught up with season 3, both dubs. So I have story notes and what not, most of the season goes the same though.

Xiaojiao and Sun Wukong’s relationship is a lot more strained, with Xiaojiao being much more vocally hostile towards him because he abandoned Xiaotian. She’s a lot more impatient and just wants to get everything done quickly so that she can get her friends back. The climax at the mountain happens, she calms down by thinking of Xiaotian, she leaves and meets Red Son.

At some point while Liu Er was chasing the 3 rings group Xiaotian was possessed by LBD. He finds out about this in the lamp, she threatens to use the boy instead of Liu Er and do much more damage to him. In the end it didn’t matter what he did because Sun Wukong arriving to fight her ends with her spirit leaving Xiaotian’s body. He drops from where he was floating, cracking his head on the ground below.

Nezha grabs Xiaotain in an attempt to protect him and they are teleported away by Liu Er.

Eye For an Eye Au

The night had started out just fine, Macaque had managed to grab some extra food for him tonight. Xiaotian started from inside the metal prison. His half blind stare held little hope and Macaque still shivered under the sight of the blind eye. The conversation continued on but Xiaotian had a question he knew he shouldn't ask  "Why did you try to kill the tang monk? You were friends with Wukong so why would you want to kill him?"

"Are you sure you wanna hear that? It's a long gory story" Macaque said. Xiaotian knew that the black furred monkey was going to tell him the story even if he tried to change the topic. 

"Yeah," Xiaotian said with a sigh "it's not like I got much else to do" 

Xiaotian heard Macaque snort "No you certainly don't kid," Macaque took a breath and turned himself so he only half faced Xiaotian ``We were best friends once, ya know that? We were so close, practically inseparable. I still remember the day he burst in and told me and the generals and the other marshel about how he had erased our names and the names of any other monkeys he could find, how we were freed from death itself." 

A small sad laugh came from Macaque along with tears not that either of them would mention. "That was centuries ago. When Wukong challenged heaven we stood behind him and when All the other monkeys ran I did my best to stay until General Ba forced me to retreat, I still remember what they said to me 'it's okay to be brave but a good warrior knows when to put their weapon down, our king can handle this" Macaque sighed again "They kept telling me he'd be okay and back then when my fur was still white as the snow, I believed them. Soon enough our home was burned, I was burned, my fur turned to its present ashy state" a long sigh came from Macaque “I missed him alot when he was under that damned mountain" his voice shook and Xiaotian watched with a look of empathy in a way he could understand, he misses his best friends and his Dads' and his mentor. When the thought hit him he tried to push it down but there was only so much he could do, but did his friends feel like Macaque would they fear him after this too? However Macaque continued on " when I had ground Wukong again I watched as my King was called 'Bad Monkey' by that monk." Macaque spat the words out like venom, yet continued on telling the tragic tale of how his best friend left him in the dust which caused Xiaotian to feel anxious.

 Honest to heaven Xiaotian couldn't help it the way he knew the story and with how much he had changed since that happened, would Xiaojiao feel the same way Macaque did? By the celestial realm he hoped not. 

Xiaotian listened as Macaque spun the tale telling a whole new side. "Macaque," Xiaotian interrupted again, "why did you want to hurt me? Why are you taking mercy on me? I'm your enemy aren't I?" His blind golden eye gleamed in the light. 

"You and me? We're in the same spot, not much either of us can do about that? Besides, where's the kid I fought all those months ago? Where's the kid who I help train? Don't ask those kinda questions, especially not the ones you have the answers to" 

Xiaotian growled of course Macaque would be vague with it, Wukong was so why wouldn't his former Marshall be too. "I don't understand what you're getting at!" He yelled in frustration "You're just like Wukong when it comes to this stuff 'ya know that, overly vague!"  If it weren't for the comparison to the monkey that ruined his life Macaque would have congratulated the kid for getting back to his normal self. "You spin your story in self pity for once I would like an honest straight up answer!" 

Macaque growled as the air around the two turned hostile "oh yeah?!" Macaque muttered in an angry voice. 

"Yes! You spin in self pity telling me your tragedy. I just want an answer 'I thought he was hurting my former friend' would have been sufficient!" Xiaotian couldn't explain the random burst of anger but it felt good to get it out so he wasn't gonna stop. "You ignore that I'm just barely an adult! I'm only 20 years old!" 

Macaque was beyond pissed at this point "Oh Yeah kid?!" His glamor started to fade revaling scars along his face and body. "Well you're not the only one with scars kid" Macaque's glamor entirely faded revealing nasty scars across Macaque's face as if he had been held down and someone tried to dig his eye out. "At least you had a clean cut!" The large monkey snarled, then turned sharply walking away with his tail angrily swishing.

look at my boy, all traumatised and anxious, can’t wait to see what he does next.

“Though,,, a reason why they leave would be nice, then I’d know if it was my fault.”

Six ear would often sneak Xiaotain food and drinks, as well as sit and eat with him. During these moments they’d talk about everything and anything. Sun Wukong being a frequent subject, along with Xiaotain’s personal life outside of being the Monkie Kid. This is how Macaque would learn more about him, it also helps him realise how much this man cares for his surrogate family (and how strained his relations with his blood family is).

I also think that during these bonding sessions Macaque would try and entertain Xiaotain with his shadow puppets or dumb stories, in an effort to try and get a spark of the overly happy kid he saw in episode 9. When that doesn’t work he storms off in a rage and doesn’t return for a few days, effectively cementing the idea that he will leave for good and leave Xiaotain behind.

I really liked the name “Eye for an eye” for this au that @spotsupstuff suggested! (thank you so much for the really nice comments btw, they made my day :D)

the reason Xioatain’s eye is golden is because LBD ripped it out when he tried escaping. Xioatain’s powers allow him to heal really quickly. However he’s only ever gotten broken bones and cuts, which are fairly simple compared to a whole eye. In response to this his powers made a new eye, however his vision on the left only really works when he has his truth sight on. (LBD threatened to eat the eye btw, you can choose if she actually did)

Six ear was also present in a different part of the cave when the injury took place and heard everything, it’s how he found out Xioatains was there, he’ll never forget those screams of anguish.

During Xiaojiao‘s search she often took breaks where she would mourn the supposed loss of her best friend/brother. The last picture of Xioatain was taken the day before his disappearance. A couple weeks after Xioatain disappeared Tang dragged her to the shadow theater to give her a break, where she meets macaque (he taunts her about the “abandonment” before becoming suspicious of the circumstances in which Xioatain disappeared in). Thats when her plot line starts up, and soon after the season final takes place we spend more time with her as she goes through her grief, determination and her resentment towards the monkey king.

I still have no idea where this au is going, i barely have a story written down.

More Monkie Kid au stuff that i don’t have a name for :D

@unseelie-robynx​ asked some good questions, and I just figured out some answers: - Why exactly, did she keep him? Xioatain acts as a battery, he’s a source of unlimited power, so long as he’s alive. He is also a very good hostage. Sun Wukong can’t act recklessly unless he risks the life of his dear student. - Why is it enough to change Macaque’s mind? Short answer: seeing how WBD treats Xiaotain makes him feel like shit. Long answer: Through multiple talks with Xiaotain makes him realise multiple things about himself and his past and current relationships. He’s held onto a very unhealthy grudge and his resentment has prevented him from properly moving on and making new relationships with other people. These conversations were not a calm or nice however, lots of yelling was exchanged, their relationship starts off very, VERY strained. I think that even by the end of the AU they will still have some problems.

If I ever expand this au, which I might seeing as I have other things planned, the story would be split in two. Plot A would follow Macaque and Xiaotain, their relationship and their situation. Plot B would focus more on Long Xiaojiao’s side of the story. She’s desperately looking for her friend, with only a few clues to go off of. I think that later on plot B would also include Wukong as he teams up with xiaojiao.

Feel free to add anything else on, this is still very much a work in progress and my first time making something like this.

Au kinda? Lady Bone Demon managed to capture MK before Spider Queen, taking the staff. The staff was what helped MK control his powers, and so removing it caused it to be harder to manage. Macaque still gets captured by LBD, still works (willingly?) with LBD and eventually discovers where MK is being held. He doesn’t help MK until LBD reveals why she kept him around though. I don’t know if I’ll continue this or what the au would be called, feel free to add onto this if you’d like.

Let's talk about Chinese erasure.

LMK is a retelling/revisioning of a NUMBER of Chinese Mythologies. Most focused of being Journey to The West a story mostly focused around Sun Wukong.

Now. I have seen, so much fanart, fanworks, headcanons, character redesignes that change the characters from yellow legos (the legos actual colors NOT the fact they are Asian we're not doing that) to more realistic/human looking characters. And a lot of the time these include making these characters Black/Blasian.

Now first of all: I'm not talking about..i think its October? The October challenge to redraw characters as Black/African. I'm talking about art and work just year round.

Hey, first of all, I love that people are drawing more POC characters. But can you make these characters THE RIGHT FUCKING RACE?

The characters in LMK (Redson especially i see so much shit of him being black) are CHINESE they are CHINESE MYTHOLOGICAL CHARACTERS/RETELLING OF SAID CHARACTERS. They are NOT black.

I love seeing the representation and people learning to draw POC characters but please please do it with characters who arent as culturally significant as those from LMK. There's most of the Steven Universe Characters, there's any white characters from media NOT based in mythology you can draw as black but please please please do not forget

LMK is in China.the characters are Chinese. Draw them as such. Learn to draw Chinese characters and hairstyles.

Edit: I am not saying drawing them with tan skin is bad. Chinese people can be tan. but if you give them fucking braids and cornrows aka: black protective hairstyles then your just erasing their ethnicity aka: FUCKING CHINESE.
