Here’s a squiggle of my Jedi Consular while I ramble.
The subject of today’s ramble has to do with the captured enemies that the consular either get handed over to the republic and or to the Jedi counsel.
Elvira does not spare these people out of a sense mercy, she spared them out a sense of justice.
She spares the life of her enemies and turns them into custody where they have all the tools they need to change their own lives if they so choose. The difficulty of reform is that it takes work. They have to put in the effort to use those tools and if they have no desire to change they’re stuck as a prisoner essentially. A prisoner of their own choices really.
To be clear these prisoners are treated well, but from Elvira grim understanding all you can do, is extend a hand and hope the other person extends theirs too. Sometime people don’t reach out their own even if she wanted it otherwise.
So someone on reddit posted the link for the extremely hard-to-find SWTOR Encyclopedia - which I recommend checking out because the quality of these screenshots came out really bad for some reason.
There’s a lot of super interesting stuff there, but the companion pages I found particularly striking. They contain a lot of info that is never given in-game, so I thought they were worth sharing!
I search for these often. So it might be helpful to have them in a single document. I don’t know if it is stated somewhere, but I myself interpret the ages as those the companions have when you first meet them.
These are the ages as stated by the SWTOR Encyclopedia:
Trooper Aric Jorgan 30 Elara Dorne 26 Tanno Vik 34 (enlistment records suspected of falsification) Yuun 28 M1-4X -
Jedi Knight Fideltin Rusk 40 Lord Scourge 300+ Kira Carsen 20 Doc 28 T7-01 200+ years in service
Jedi Consular Felix Iresso 31 Nadia Grell 22 Zenith 36 Tharan Cedrax 29 Qyzen Fess unknown (claims to be middle-aged)
Imperial Agent Vector Hyllus 26 Scorpio age of programming unknown, current chassis < 5 Raina Temple 24 Kaliyo Djannis 29 (unconfirmed) Eckard Lokin 65 (unconfirmed)
Sith Warrior Pierce 29 Jaesa Willsaam 21 Broonmark unknown Malavai Quinn 37 Vette 21
Sith Inquisitor Khem Val 2000+ Andronikos Revel 35 (unconfirmed) Ashara Zavros 20 Talos Drellik 27 Xalek 24
Smuggler Akaavi Spar 28 Bowdaar 197 Corso Riggs 22 Risha 21 Languss “Guss” Tuno 33
Bounty Hunter Blizz indeterminate Skadge 37 Gault Rennow 54 Torian Cadera 18 Mako 19
Note: Since my old masterlist is getting notes again (and I'm hosting @tbb-appreciation-week this year), I thought it's a good time to release a new version with a lot more resources. If any of you know another site or thing that it's missing from the list, let me know and I'll include it!! [Altho, I'm getting this close 🤏 to the hyperlinks limit on this thing 😆]
Note 2: To avoid tagging the 3 people from whom I got multiple resources repeatedly, I've placed 1-3 asterisks between square brackets after the links, depending on the OP. I give the respective credit to them in a legend at the end of the post.

SlickWrite: Completely free; online. Checks grammar, punctuation, flow, and writing style according to different settings (including fiction writing).
ProWritingAid: [RECOMMENDED] One of the most thorough online proofreader I've ever used. Although when using a free account gives extremely thorough feedback, with +20 different in-depth reports, for only the first 500 words. However, you can earn a premium account license (for a year or for life) if you get 10 or 20 new users signing up for free; (if you wouldn't mind doing so using the link above and help me earn mine, please). The settings allow you to check your writing according to your needs, from general to formal to creative. It has a bonus that you can check depending on the genre you're writing. For example, in creative, you can choose romance or sci-fiction (there are 14 sub-genre in total). And just like google docs, you can share a document, and people can view, comment or edit it too.
LanguageTool: [RECOMMENDED] Another excellent proofreader. It also has a word limit in free accounts, but if you use the add-on for Google Docs, it counts each page as a new document, so hitting the word limit is nearly impossible. It helps you to rewrite a sentence (3 a day), even if it doesn't raise any flags; it's very useful for when your sentence is grammatically correct, but it doesn't feel quite right.
Grammarly, Hemingway Editor: No so great, but they do the basic job.

Yeah this, I feel like a lot the of the Jedi are boring and suffocatingly dogmatic complains come from not really understanding this idea.
I think the most frustrating/disheartening misconception I often see about Star Wars, and the Jedi specifically, is the misguided notion that love and attachment are one and the same. Which in turn leads to fundamental misunderstandings of who the Jedi are and what their teachings on non-attachment mean. While you absolutely can be attached to those you love, you do not need attachment to have love for someone. That's as true in Star Wars as it is in real life. The reason that Jedi teach non-attachment is because attachment leads to suffering, and suffering is a path to the Dark Side. This, like many other facets of Jedi philosophy, takes inspiration from Buddhism. Buddhism teaches non-attachment for the same reason: to mitigate or eliminate suffering, which is caused by greed, delusion, and/or aversion. This does not mean that the Jedi are forbidden from loving others. They are forbidden from developing attachments to others, which is why the Order, by the time of the Clone Wars, has outright banned romantic relationships. It's hard to be in a romantic relationship without attachment. But Jedi can love, and do. We see beautiful friendships throughout Star Wars. Parental-like relationships between Master and Padawan. Sibling-like relationships between Master and Padawan. Outside of the Clone Wars era, especially in the High Republic, we often see the Jedi in acts of loving service. Obviously, what that looks like varies from individual to individual, but that loving compassion for all living things is absolutely instrumental to being a Jedi.
Finished JC’s class story with Elvira. It’s definitely made her more Jaded. Her feelings on the dark side much more defined after dealing with the First Son.
Dealing the possession that is the Empire Child was especially upsetting as she did kill all these people were totally not in their right mind. They lived for lives until being possessed, by helping others only for the First Sun hide that away to turn them into his own personal pawn. The realization that she killed people whose actions weren’t truly there is just haunting.
Yet it was the most decisive way to stop more from being hurt. She was only able to save master Syo. Who will forever be trailed by the wake of destruction he caused when he wasn’t himself.
She did literally everything she could to make the best of tragedy.
He is my first Sith. Right now what I know is that his fatal flaw is pride, he is as proud as he because he is capable. Very capable.
Crodek has the rage and passion of sith but he is also quite measured. He just flunked Temel’s prisoner test completely which has dented his acolyte’s reckless confidence somewhat. This ‘failure’ has taught him some strategy at least regards to what sith prioritize.
He doesn’t care for some of the finer points of sith trickery. He believes his sheer skill will compensate for this lack.
My consular Elvira is an interesting mix of being in the know, and oblivious. She knew there was something up with Felix’s feelings regarding her but didn’t once cross her mind that he liked her.
They’re in a relationship now but it’s slow going. When Felix made free time for her she invited him to her to spend time with this desire was totally innocent get know you better type stuff. Yet somehow things naturally escalated, and they hit second base. My consular is a bit wigged out over it. So wigged out, that she didn’t tell Felix she loved him afterwards. She just sorta thanked him instead.
Like she does in fact love him, but this Jedi is still reeling from all these unknown feelings and complications. Which is impressive because Felix is pretty a straightforward guy. So these problems are entirely of her own making. Elvira will admit she cares about him deeply but love? No that’s too much, too big.
I’m over here like Jedi, why are you like this?
- Nadia gets into trouble constantly for getting into everything.
-Qyzen is generally viewed by the others as a strange creature but a reliable guy.
-Courtesy of Zenith serval fights that could’ve been avoided were in fact escalated. Thanks to paranoia.
-Tharan is the number one cause of strife because of an addiction to playing the devils advocate.
-Felix is the voice of reason.
-Zenith has taken up pet sitting. Not one to just keep eye the animals, he actually does his best train said pets like they’re a K-9 unit. He’s very serious about it.
- Boardgames are competitive. Tharan was top dog but couldn’t resist sharing/bragging. So the others adopted his tactics and now Tharan has work to win.
- Zenith, Felix, and Qyzen spar and train together regularly. They also have shooting challenges.
-The guys all talk shop together about all things warfare (and tech).
-Everybody has time for Nadia. To teach her or talk to her.
- Tharan will do what he told but he does have running commentary about having to do it.
-Zenith and to lesser extent Felix are security nuts and are on everyone’s backsides to be vigilant.
-Qyzen and Felix are hunting buddies.
- Nadia and Felix can cook. So can Qyzen if like like meat. Zenith well he cooks but let’s say it tastes practical. Very practical and nutritious.
-Holiday the ship decorator no questions asked. She is also in charge of the crews schedules.
-Tharan is the most up to date on news and gossip because of Holiday.
I just accidentally started as relationship with Felix. Like I not mad about, just surprised. Like man over here chatting to Elvira and she knows somethings up, but being Jedi doesn’t have that much experience with romance. So she does not realize he’s into her. What she does sense is that he’s hiding something, so naturally she wants the truth from him, and it comes out and then boom! He kisses her.
After this I think Elvira probably went to her cabin and just sat on the end of bed just, shook. Like, oh that happened.
I genuinely didn’t think Elvira would romance anybody during this play through because of how closely she follows the Jedi code. But this happened and it could work, Felix is sweet dude and he offered her something precious that Elvira wants to honor. So yeah it’ll be interesting to see how they feel their way through this budding relationship.
He is bit tougher to figure out for me. Grit and willingness act to are what he inadvertently teaches Elvira. Zenith has Mad Eye Moody’s mindset of constant vigilance.
This trait in particular is necessary for Elvira to learn from because of her penchant for being a being distant. To play the roles of diplomat, consular, duelist, and Barsen’thor she has be alert! Through Zenith she sees what it looks like actually do it.
What Elvira desperately want to provide Zenith with is a more developed vision. She wants to show Zenith what peace is. Because Zenith literally has no conceptualization of what peace even is. She would love for Zenith to reach a point where he see a future that involves more than fighting the empire and standing up for Belmorra. Elvira does want forcibly change him being a fighter but does what him to fighter and… whatever he chooses to be like his potential interest in politics.
You know writing this out allowed me to see why I was struggling to figure out Zenith dynamics. I was trying feel out how he’d interact with other crew member domestically and I realized Zenith doesn’t know how to be domestic! Cause of his upbringing. I guess the dynamic would be being awkward as he learns how live outside of being a soldier.
I don’t understand 3d art but I understand enough to see how awesome this is. The amount of thought poured into this really comes through, love how complete this feels. Like you could just plop it straight into an animation.
Attempted to make another "live action"-style version of a ship from Star Wars: The Old Republic in Blender. This time it's the Flashfire scout ship from the Galactic Starfighter pvp gamemode. I decided to place it on the landing platform of the new Copero stronghold because of its beautiful scenery.
I even fully detailed the interior of the cockpit, which required a lot of "making stuff up" because the only way to see the interior of the ship in-game is by using the mount version of the ship, and that interior is not very detailed at all. I took inspiration from the aesthetics of X-Wing cockpit details for this.
The exterior remains pretty faithful to its in-game appearance, for the most part, but I did have to re-interpret a lot of details to bring the scale of it to a believable place. In some places that meant increasing the level of detail and making greeble parts with thinner shapes, and in some places that actually meant reducing the amount of detail and eliminating unnecessary panel lines that I feel wouldn't be in line with how ships appear in live-action Star Wars.
Texturing this baby was a lot of work, but I really wanted to make the surfaces feel real. I used directional smearing textures in the roughness and sheen weight channels, to create the appearance that the ship had been hurriedly cleaned off with a rag, but perhaps not very thoroughly, so the layers of grease and grime had just been smeared across the surface. This is especially visible in places where I added streaks of soot; I allowed the smear textures to influence the lighter layers of soot, but not in the darker places where it would have already built up since the last time the ship was cleaned.
I also created fully functional landing gear mechanisms, which are being demonstrated in the video. The cockpit canopy also has fully functional hydraulics but I didn't render an animation of them.
I encourage you all to zoom in on the beauty renders, (which I rendered in Blender's Cycles render engine) because there are a lot of details to take in.
I've also included a wireframe render so you can take a little peek behind the scenes.
This is some serious food for thought.
ya know, chapter one of the Jedi Consular story is actually really sad if you take a lightside path. You have this character who barely gets to be a knight before it’s rushing off and their Masters life is suddenly in their hands and then before they really have time to process that, it’s off to save other Jedi because they are the only one who knows how to save them. The next months are spent fighting your own people who mock, and belittle, and insult you, and your just constantly reaching out and trying and and it’s not meant honestly because they’re sick but I mean that’s going to wear on a person after a bit, especially a young Jedi who may not even be fully sure of their place in the order yet.
Tharan plays the role of adversary to Elvira. He is always the first to question her methods. They spend a lot of time bickering, knocking the other down, only poke them back up into standing. He gets her to question herself and she is able to the same for him.
The thing that really makes this dynamic work is that fundamental both are chasing the same thing. Truth. Tharan does so as scientist and Elvira as Jedi. So even though there approaches are quite different, they still are still pursuing the same thing.
Elvira treasures that she can have intellectual sparing matches with him. He is the one who is most eager to play a card/board game or debate. Because of this he can grow her in a way that the other crew members can’t.
He does have a lot of faults which Elvira and the rest of the crew are definitely aware of. True to path as jedi shadow Elvira’s just gives Tharan little nudges to act more selflessly. Where he is shallow, she is deep. Tharan is able to pull her out the weight of the force to be more present it the moment. Which something Elvira needs.
Elvira and Qyzen’s relationship is characterized by a deep mutual respect. The Trandoshan Scorkeeper’s way of the hunt is quite different from the Jedi code. So Elvira learns how to be open and respectful of Qyzen beliefs while still staying true to the Jedi code.
Through Qyzen, Elvira sees that the way of the Scorekeeper isn’t all that different from the Jedi. Both codes treat life with a deep respect, both teach awareness of the environment, mind, and body. These are similarities that Elvia begins to uncover, further cements her this sense of kinship.
Qyzen’s loyalty isn’t something Elvira asked for, and it definitely isn’t something that she feels like she deserves. But she has it anyways, so now there is part of her that is trying give back some of what he gave her.
It this respect that binds them together, because of they grow from each other. Elvira now has a part of her that is a hunter. She also much more prepared to deal with incredibly different cultures because of first hand experience with Trandoshan culture.
The rough and tumble combat medic comes through strong.
A couple more Emryn outfits! I really like how rugged the brown one looks in particular.
This is my first Swtor character Elvira Gwandarae. She deep yet detached diplomat whose seeks to truly understand the Jedi Code for herself. Her drive to grasp the essence of the force which flows through her and alters her life is unquenchable. It characterized her journey forward.
So far she has a ship dubbed The Visionary’s Resolve. Which only has three crew members besides herself, Qyzen, Tharan, and Holiday. I imagine they’ve got quite the dynamic going on already.
They’ve currently finished chapter one of the consulars story it has become incredibly personal for Elvira who truly respected Youn Par. She incredibly angry for the destruction that the plague caused and is determined to prevent it from harming anything more then it already has.
Here this first outfit that I’m proud of I’ve so far. It’s her stealthy/operative outfit yet still feels Jedi.
I hope to share more about Elvira and the other characters I make for Swtor. Since it’s been a delightful so far.
I think i cracked it, the reason everything produced in the times of the High Republic is soo good compared to modern Star Wars, tldr its because of pain.
See, in all the works that date during the High Republic (specifically during George's ownership of SW) there's this fearlessness to show pain and tragedy and death, and i know it sounds like "everything for the children these days is sanitized!" but think for a second if Revenge of the Sith would be something Disney would publish these days and that's your answer, but that's just a tangent meant to emphasize the difference between Og SW and new SW, because what Og SW had was strife, and you the viewer knew that, because every time you booted up KOTOR or played Phantom Menace you knew what was coming, you knew to expect the isle of happiness in which the characters lived to slowly sink beneath the waves of tragedy and you'll see it happen as the characters around the story just dug up their own fates, in very much George Lucas fashion, and THAT is what made the work and the small moments of levity to taste so much sweeter, because you see the characters who you've grown attached to suffer so un-justly that when you return to the good times you can't help but appreciate the good and mourn it's departure.
The reason new SW does not achieve this is because the characters are dealing with the aftermath of the destruction of the baddies, its the birth of the hope for the future, its when you look at the horizon at the END of the movie, yes new problems may arise but the big hurdle is done and Disney didn't cultivate the joy from the Alliance's victory as it should, because instead of giving us proper post-war optimism (as it fits the real life post WW2 countries counterparts and fantasy sci-fi proper) it stuck only with the brooding post-war trauma, and while yes, that is also a very realistic take it still lacked verily from the former and thus there is no reason why we should mourn a character's strife if that is all we've seen from them, its like watching paint dry, nothing particularly changes, just a new villain here and there, the new character discovers new powers, new info, but there is no resolution, no reward for their strife, and even if they were going for a bleak post-war future (which they didn't and it also doesn't fit SW's constant theme of hope for a better future) it still ends up looking incomplete for the mere reason that they don't want to shut the book in case they need to milk the cow some more.
My point with all this was not to bash new SW though, my point was to use it as a comparison to highlight how Og SW built itself on a foundation of hope, how it showed us the height before the fall, how it is possible to make Shakespeare in space and leave all of us with broken hearts and looking hopefully into the future.
Love the design, it looks sharp.
new character tiiime~
heskan voh, a gentle guardian and jedi knight of the republic
Dude this is awesome! Of course they’d love music.
We'll probably never get actual Miraluka lore, i doubt disney will even acknowledge their existance. So I thought it'd be fun to imagine what their society would be like.
Miraluka forever see through the force, their connection to the force is so strong they can feel major events from other planets. Their vision allows them to see through objects, see the force, etc.
Thinking about this, implies their buildings and ships wouldn't need windows. Windows are structrual weaknesses and to a MIraluka would be irrelevant asf, as walls are basically windows. Even lights wouldn't be needed, the concept of light and dark would be entirely different to a Miraluka to others.
As their entire race sees through objects, things like nudity would mean very little to Miraluka. Although they can see the clothes you're wearing, they can also see through it (not intentionally). Because of how open their views are (pun intended) Miraluka would generally live amongst their own kind, non-miraluka would most likely find it awkward to live amongst the Miraluka because of just how much they see. Fortunately Miraluka are very emotional and understanding of other species, they wear coverings over their eyesockets because other species find it very offputting.
Because they can't see colours, their art would be based around the force or music. Miraluka art would be less about sight and more about feelings, their art would radiate certain emotional or spiritual feelings through the force. To a nonforce sensitive, it may look bland but they'd undoubtably be able to feel the emotions off of their art.
There are many objects in the Star Wars galaxy which are force sensitive, the most common are kyber crystals used for lightsabers but as all living things have the force, plants would be very beautiful to Miraluka and it's probably the only things they use to liven up their homes. Gardening and tending to plants would be considered a spiritual practice and very cathartic to a Miraluka.
