In 1995 Elif Batuman started her first year at Harvard; she was in love with fiction and determined to become a writer. The child of immigrants from Turkey, she had a first name that was unfamiliar in New Jersey, where she grew up, and which had to be constantly spelled out and explained. She has said since that its four letters suggest a fitting joke about writerly aspiration: if the initial desire in a novel is to capture all of life, what is actually produced is just another set of words, a file.

When i first joined Tumblr i would read things here and think, " wow, all this is so funny. These people here are weirdly awesome."
After a few months of into it i finally realised how morally questionable and mentally deranged the audience here is and i was a little startled. Then I realised further that to enjoy their humour i would've to be equally fucked. Then I fainted.
Now? Now I party with vampires and dry hump wolves and throw cats into fire when I dream of jungles the night before to appease to satan and also now I wait outside everybody's rooms to suck little parts of their soul whenever they walk past me and the ultimate goal is to be immortal.

"I care bout some people, but to assume they give a shit bout your self respect, your sensitive nature or you in general is the worst lie i tell myself everyday. You try to let their behaviour be ignored once, twice but everytime? It's only a matter of time before i go touch some grass. Someone who actually gives a damn bout me at all will not just toss hurtful shit everytime he/she feels like it and then be all guilty. Fuck them."
That's it, that's the post.
@regnum-lab Okay, so this has been in discussions a long time and i had to write my views. The thing is that often theories (especially the conflict theories) in criminology mention how law is made to either suit the standards of those already in power or the powerful ones easily evade the law causing the ones with lesser power to have a higher conviction rate.
So technically Will Smith had good intentions but wrong way of acting on it. Yes, tasteless jokes have become quite the culture and it's only fair to feel offended if it makes you vulnerable, so Chris Rock needed to apologise, but slapping him on stage in front of so many celebrities and viewers was a little overboard. Will Smith was wrong to have physically abused someone who could've been reasoned with in a firm manner. He did do wrong but unlike the white guys, he'd possibly pay for it too and probably more harshly than a white guy would- and that is maddening. Not his conviction- but the evasion from conviction by those who have been in power for so long.
so the academy is reviewing whether or not to remove Will Smith’s award and here are some interesting tweets about that :)
THE IDIOT; ELIF BATUMAN
I recently started reading "The Idiot" by ELIF BATUMAN. And so far, it's been brilliant. The protagonist- full or intelligence and dry remarks, is absolutely a compelling presence in the back of your head as you move forward within the book!
