the original 2015 graphic novel is more insane than the movie cuz like
exhibit A: nimona expresses liking pizza and ballister at first refuses her asking to order in because the delivery to his mindfuck nowhere lair is expensive . later, when an accident happens and nimona gets upset, he remembers that she liked pizza and offers to order in . if that isnt dad behavior idk what that is (im fatherless)
exhibit B :
they went to a science expo slash carnival . they went undercover . a stand seller mistakes them for a father & son and they just... went with it . he carries nimona around . what the fuck man
exhibit C :
ballister freaks the FUCK out when she gets injured way more than he did in the movie and then proceeds to play board games with her to cheer her up
oops hit tumblr picture limit i will continue my dad ballister propaganda in the reblogs
Some character designs with some…atypical color choices? I guess. I don’t know what’s going on in that area.
This is Nimona and her supervillain friend (He doesn’t have a name yet, I’m working on that). Nimona is his sidekick/squire, they’re like the Batman and Robin of slightly Medieval villains, but she’s actually way more evil than him. He does what he does to make a point, and he doesn’t really want anyone get hurt - Nimona just gets a kick out of destroying stuff.
I’m going to attempt to make a two page comic with them? We’ll see how this goes.
Here's a speed paint too yeah aight bye 🚶♂️

-even as a cybernetically enhanced raccoon, he still is a raccoon so while his eyesight is better than that of the rest of his kind it's still lacks in some ways. While he got excellent night vision, he can not tell the different shades of colors and sometimes confuses blue with green for example. He is also slightly near sighted and has trouble reading small writing and can barely read handwritten stuff
-speaking of his eyes: They reflect light in darkness like most nocturnal animals! This nearly scared the shit out of Peter, when he went to the bathroom one night, turned on the flashlight and was met with a pair of green glowing orbs down the hall. "What the fuck, Rocket?! Dude, i almost pissed myself!"
-he can eat anything! He is not above eating the leftovers of his fellow guardians and sometimes even will dig out fruit and vegetable skins out of the trash, complaining how anyone could throw this away. One time Peter played a mean prank on him by giving him a bowl of Cosmos dog kibble and telling him it's cereal. After watching Rocket delightfully dig in, he burst out in laughter declaring him a trash panda once more
-on rare occasions he gets so angry, that his primal instincts take over and he becomes absolutely feral! He will hiss, bark and growl and destroy things by ripping them apart with his teeth and claws
-sometimes after a battle the implants in his joints and spine hurt from being over used by running and fighting and he has to walk on all fours for some time to ease the pain. He mostly just curls up alone in some corner though, afraid of being laughed at because this is just another animal thing
-he loves swimming. One time the Guardians went to a planet that has lots of lakes and they decided to go for a swim and Rocket had so much fun, splashing the others and finding some discarded parts to make new inventions out of
Everyone is out here trying to understand their sudden attraction to Peter Quill in GotG Vol. 3 like "it's his curly hair... it's the beard."
No. It's because he's visibly sad and his life is falling apart.
Also the curls.
Just watched GOTG 1's interview and here's what Gunn said about Rocket's design:
"What if they broke his sternum and streched it out? Because raccoon doesn't really have a chest (like human's)"
And it makes me think about what HE did to Raccoon's bone structure.
Raccoon shoulders are curved to their chest so they can walk quadrupedally, but rocket walking on his two legs require his shoulders to be straightened out (hence the metals). They need to change his C-shaped spine into S-shape like humans, change the length of his arms... and deconstruct his pelvis entirely. Like. Entirely.
Because there's no way that raccoon pelvis can make him walk like a human. Also look at that body. My man looks like a gymnast with narrow waist and everything. While regular raccoons are just. A ball of floof.
Not to mention the brain surgeries he needs to go through.
With him able to lift big ass firearms with tiny hands, they must've replace his bones or muscles into something stronger.
Whatever HE did, feels less like trying to make "something perfect" and more like a child assembling and reassembling his toys because he can.
Some more joke doodles from @partycoffin ‘s stream :]
Don't worry! It's a watergun!!

Idk what I’m doing anymore 😭
Soy fan de este hombre.
Alright, I felt like I finally had to throw my hat into the ring, especially with us getting so close to the end of the season (not series, season) and the unfortunate pattern I’ve been seeing from the fandom over the course of it.
As you may or may not know, I’ve been here since before the beginning of the show. I remember when the first trailer dropped, and I’ve stuck around since. I’ve watched the fandom grow and change, in good ways and…not-so-good ones.
But overall, the one thing I’ve noticed stay consistent was how kindly the fandom treated the writers. Sure there were episodes that weren’t very good before (I will not pretend the entire series is flawless, obviously), but the fandom has never treated the writers poorly. We’ve had our spats within the community itself, but the writers? Nothing but respect as far as I could see.
However…that’s sadly changed this season and I’m really not liking what I’m seeing.
The fandom is growing entitled. Every week it’s ‘Oh when’s Jasper coming back?’ or ‘If Dadvid isn’t endgame we riot’ or focusing on Max being in an episode when the episode is NOT about him.
And before anyone gets mad, let me emphasize that liking Jasper or Max or even Dadvid is NOT a bad thing. I happen to like two out of three of those things very much myself. I love Dadvid content and to see how far it’s come since its creation is a truly wonderful thing. I love Max, and he’s been absolutely adorable over the season, and to see how happy he’s become since the first episode of the show is so heartwarming. And even if I’m not as obsessed with Jasper as a lot of you are, I know he means a lot to you and that’s totally tub-No, I’m just going to say cool. I’m not THAT old.
But….none of that is what the show is by itself. The show has other characters outside of Max and Jasper and other dynamics outside of Dadvid. That’s the entire point of season four. They even told us the season was about change at the VERY BEGINNING.
And to beg and plead for the usual stuff in a season that was supposed to be about mixing things up and exploring new dynamics is…missing the point.
And it starts getting…demand-y. And when a fandom gets demand-y, they start getting entitled.
And as someone who’s been here since the beginning of the show, I’m genuinely afraid of this fandom getting entitled, to the point where it stops doing the one thing it’s always done right since the beginning and RESPECTS THE WRITERS.
Jasper doesn’t need to come back. If he does, that’s wonderful! But if he’s the only reason you’re watching the show, then…why are you watching the show? He was in…three episodes? Four max? Also he’s dead, so it’s inevitable that if he’s NOT gone completely, he will be in time.
Max is a fantastic character, but he isn’t the only main character. David, Gwen, Neil and Nikki are all main characters too. And not to mention the main characters don’t always have to be the focus in the show! Camp Camp has been really good about giving its side characters the spotlight and its been doing that since season one (remember how a good portion of the campers got their own episodes back then?). Max doesn’t and isn’t always the focus. And as cute as he can be, we need to remember that there are other characters. I liked Max and the puppy in Party Pooper, but…guys, it WAS a Gwen episode that gave us an incredible look at the relationship with her father, and we brushed it aside for Max being cute with a puppy.
And as for Dadvid…please, PLEASE, I beg of you, fandom. Do not make Dadvid a negative aspect for the fandom out of entitlement. I love Dadvid (Hell, I kinda-sorta helped get it started on Tumblr) and I will always have a soft spot for it. But…it doesn’t need to be canon. And also people do NOT need to like it. That’s not this argument, but like….don’t force people to like Dadvid if they’d prefer not to. It’s not like…a necessity in order to be in the fandom. I might not like Brovid myself, but if people prefer them having that kind of a relationship over Dadvid, who am I to tell them they’re wrong?
Also people don’t have to focus on Max and David’s dynamic at ALL if they don’t want to! It’s not a necessity! And it doesn’t have to be the endgame for the show. We can still make Dadvid content, even if the show doesn’t end with it! Hell, I actually kind of hope it DOESN’T myself. David is still very young (he’s younger than me by this point) and I hope he waits a bit before becoming a father. I know, I love exploring Dadvid content as much as the next fan, but when it comes to canon? It’s not a necessity and we shouldn’t act like it is.
Overall, we as a fandom need to step back and remember all of the above. Remember how, no matter what, we need to not be like every other fandom out there and lash out at the writers if they don’t do what we want. We need to be better than this, and remember that it’s not the end of the world if Jasper doesn’t come back or if Dadvid isn’t canon, and we definitely need to remember that other characters aside from Max exist in the show.
(Also reblogs are fine, but please refrain from talking badly about any of the above topics in your tags or reblogs. This isn’t a post to shame folks for liking those things, it’s a reminder to calm down and step back and not let the fandom turn into other RT Animated fandoms when it comes to how we treat the writers or when it comes to focusing on one character to the point where others suffer).

Did you want the red cable or the blue cable?
It doesn't matter! They're the same!
BE PATIENT WITH HER OKAY SHES TRYING HER BEST
This was going to be just a sketch in a page, but @icefyrre and my best friend's boyfriend convinced me that this was too good for that, so I made a full piece and I'm very fucking glad, thanks for talking me into this
Yes
Davids Mum.
Possibly a flashback of his dad or a photograph or something.
Seeing Harrisons Brother! ! !
Daniel getting a good ending even though he’s a villain. Maybe him and Jen live happily in antartica etc!
David adopting Max.
Max’s parents.
Davids house/apartment!!! And him showing Max to his room :,)
Gwen getting her dream job, but being a camp coucillor as a side job for the summer maybe.
Niel getting the confidence to ask someone out and they actually become a couple this time.
Max smiling. Maybe crying (plot twist) tears of joy!!
Nikki and Niel becoming stepsiblings.
The Woodscouts getting more recruits/ gaining popularity again because they need more love.
A Flowerscouts and Woodscouts parents day. If not, aleast letting us see some of their parents.
Nerris and Harrison becoming closer! Platonic or in a crush kinda way, I dig either one.
On that note, Harrisons parents actually caring for him.
Dolph selling his first painting!
A flashforward to what the campers/scouts are doing when they are older. Would David still be a councillor?
David becoming the new owner of the camp after Cameron Campbell!
I mean, with Steven already hit multiply times I bet she could have overpowered him
But no, she took a fatal hit and laughed through it.
She knew what this scythe would do to her. And she accepted it.
Imagine being so traumatized by your past that you happily lose all your memory, good and bad, to get rid of the pain.
The entire internet rn.
not to be dramatic but i’d actually die for them
I don’t know if Gwen and David sat them specifically to keep them from causing trouble, but all of our usual disaster-makers are separated from one another. And Max is specifically placed away from ALL the campers on David’s other side. Which.
I guess was a good idea.
Also!!
Look how excited Gwen is to see some little girls inevitably cause a huge trash TV scene!!! And Nikki is sooooo not about this entire trip but she gets to sit next to Ered so I guess it’s okay.
Those two girls in the back have to be older sisters to some of the flower scout girls, or they’re on a date. Or both. Let’s go with both.
Tabii: I wish I had the ability to make boys really nervous.
Sasha: Holding a really sharp knife to their neck usually does the trick for me.
Let’s talk about the greatest father and son dynamic in the show that is Thunder-bandit and Spider-cat. Here’s a brief recap of Gary and Lil Cato’s journey of their relationship.
Gary promised Avocato that they would find and rescue his son, and once they finally did, he made one last promise to his best friend: to look after him.
It was rocky at first. Gary and Lil Cato were grieving over the loss of a loved one. Being the young, rebellious teenager he was, Lil Cato avoided everyone while dealing with his grief. And Gary, who grew up without any parents, had no confidence in fulfilling the role of parent.
What’s most important, though, is that he tried his best, and him simply trying was all it took.
When Gary asked Lil Cato what he could do to cheer him up, he took up the request of killing the Lord Commander to avenge Avocato. To Lil Cato’s surprise, he didn’t expect an adult to allow him to do something so dangerous and reckless. This establishes respect in their relationship. Gary manages to reach out to Lil Cato because he doesn’t treat him like kid like any normal adult would do. A responsible adult would try to give him advice that he’s being emotional and not thinking straight, or “let the adults handle this.” Nah, instead Gary forms a murdering team with him. Gary has never, not once, belittled Lil Cato because of his age. Instead, he listens to and supports Little Cato on equal level.
In the end of that same episode, Lil Cato cries, admitting that he feels alone. Gary assures him that he’s not alone. “We’ll get through it together as a team. As a squad. As a team-squad.” When Gary’s prison sentence was complete, he had no idea what to do. This is where Gary finds his new purpose in life, which is being Lil Cato’s care-taker. At his lowest, Lil Cato also found something in life: a new family and place to call home.
Soon after, the crew enters Bolo’s mind to find the answer to closing the breach in space. Gary travels back in time to get the answer from his dad, who soon dies right before Gary again. Here, they establish empathy. Lil Cato sees a reflection of himself in Gary, understanding that they share the same pain.
In the final showdown between the crew and the Lord Commander’s fleet, Lil Cato volunteers to handle a dangerous task to cover Quinn, but she argues that it’s not something a child should do. Gary, in the other hand, trusts Lil Cato. Putting the life of the woman he loves and the fate of his planet in the paws of this young Ventrexian takes a lot of faith, and Gary does not think twice.
Throughout season two, we see more interactions and bonding between Gary and Lil Cato as those two grow closer. They establish nicknames, have handshakes, good off, and even think alike. I won’t get into too much detail about their subtle parallels, but I mention this one scene in S2E2. When Gary was feeling down about losing the Earth, Lil Cato repeated the same words Gary told him when he was at his lowest. “We’ll get through it together as a team.” Gary has influenced Lil Cato and made huge impacts in his life in so many ways, and Lil Cato brings out the best of Gary. Gary doesn’t just rub off his personality on Lil Cato, but also his optimism. Imagine where Lil Cato would be if Gary was never around from the beginning.
Now, after the events of S2E9 and hints of the next episode, it all comes down to loyalty and how far that loyalty will go.
(Spoiler alert for S2E8&9)
I’m not gonna day too much into the matter about how Avocato got possessed by Invictus and shot Gary, and then Lil Cato has to choose between protecting Gary or sparing his father. Enough has already been said this past week. I mean, he barely had a choice. Evil Avocato was going to kill both of them. He had to be stopped. Like, seriously. It was so emotionally messed up. However, in the next episode, Lil Cato leaves the Crimson Light Crew for what appears to be a bounty hunting gang. I’m very curious to see what he’s up to. What was his reason for leaving? Will he end up fighting Gary? Will he return to his real family or stay away for good?
I just had a thought. Little Cato considers himself irredeemable for shooting Avacato, right? He said himself that people don’t come back from something like that. Well, Avacato annihilated an entire planet; he straight up slaughtered four billion people.
So, at some point, are we gonna see Little Cato come to terms with what his father did? Is he gonna start judging his father as harshly as he judges himself? Better yet, are we gonna see Avacato–if and when we get him back–start owning up to what he did?
I’m not saying Avacato is a bad guy, but he was a terrible father. Sure, he spent three years looking for Little Cato, good on him for that. But how long did he know about the order to shoot his firstborn? I doubt it was a surprise, people would have needed time to collect their kids, seeing as how I’m pretty damn sure none of them would have come willingly. Little Cato himself had two people holding him in place.
Which means Avacato would have had time to get himself and Little Cato out if he had wanted to. They’re sneaky boys, they could have made it. But he didn’t. Instead he let Little Cato get dragged out there, made him watch a whole bunch of kids his age (considering the fact that we saw young Little Cato hanging around the base, it’s safe to say the other kids did too, which means Little Cato probably saw a few friends die that day), and then Avacato looked his son in the eyes and pointed a gun at his face.
Could you imagine what was going through Little Cato’s head? His father almost shot him. For no good reason.
I know Little Cato would defend Avacato until his last breath, but I don’t think Avacato deserves it. I think Little Cato needs to remember that what he did, he did out of absolute necessity. He didn’t have a choice, the gun was his last and only option, and he still cried “I’m sorry” afterwards.
But… did we ever see Avacato apologize for what he did to Little Cato? When he found Little Cato the first time, he said that he knows he messed up, but that’s not an apology. The only time he says the words “I’m sorry” to Little Cato is when he says that he can’t choose which of his memories comes back.
I’m not saying Avacato is irredeemable. I’m just saying that Little Cato needs to take a step back for a second, consider everything that’s happened to him over the years, and decide who the real guilty one is. Because we all know that if he thought about it–and I’m sure he just doesn’t want to think about it–he’d know that Avacato hasn’t earned the right to his forgiveness.
Why should Little Cato forgive someone who hasn’t even apologized for what they’ve done to him? How can he expect to forgive Avacato’s many mistakes when he can’t even forgive himself for the one? Father or not, what Avacato while working under the Lord Commander was beyond fucked up and, discourse be damned, he’s an awful father who has not earned his son’s forgiveness.
When Avacato apologizes it will be a step in the right direction, but for now is far from being redeemed.

Bit of spoiler here if you haven't seen it, but I want to get my feelings out while I still got the "finished the episode" feeling.
I just want to appreciate that entire fucking episode. As in, not only the art and the music, which were both steller by the way. I fucking loved the star moment, and the music during it all that turned from calm to almost horror like with the wolf.
But also that in the entire episode, David knew what the fuck he was doing. Sure, shit like the wolf and the bees were unexpected, but I seriously doubt that any of the kids, or even Gwen could possibly figure out the way to survive real-world. Cambell gets a pass because of last season, but seriously, anyone else would've freaked the fuck out or would've probably solved their problem through some weird hyjinks.
But David? From the moment he left the river he followed it back while before climbing the mountain. When he got chased by the bees and escaped, he sat his ass down and pulled out everything he could've needed at the moment. He knew what flowers to get to treat his stings, tried to start a fire and then made a shelter when it started raining. Even the wolf moment? God that made me so sad, so heart broken to think that David had to kill a creature and hear his currdling screams. But then, THEN, we see him and the wolf safe, wounds healing, around a cozy little home that David built, with water and fire and a little doggo house and everything! David KNEW how to survive, LEARNED how to survive, and for all the moments we've been told David was such a camp boy, that he was the nature guy, I don't think I've been more proud to see it all than in this episode.
I'm not saying that no other character couldn't have survived it. They would probably find a way to. But I'm saying that I don't think there would be a more justified person surviving those goddamn woods like a champ like David.
