there is no way to construe Damian being Robin after he just got out of a murder cult as anything less than a phenomenally shitty idea. i do not say this to criticize Damian as a character. he is a good character. it is because he is a good character that I am going to say this: Damian being Robin was Bad. Very Bad.
Outside of the dynamics within the family at the change, people are still Suffering because of Damian As Robin. Because Damian is not trained to be Robin. Robin is Hope. Robin is comfort. Robin is not a fucking baby assassin who only has the job to “secure his place as the blood son” and prove that the ‘placeholders’ weren’t as good as him.
Because Robin is not just a mantle that changes how people within the Batfam see each other. It is also a job that living people need to survive and Damian, as someone who was not trained for literally Any Aspect of said job that people need to survive, was risking those people.
Completely disregarding Damian’s and others within the Batfam’s own (stunted) development because of Damian Being Robin, it is a really, really, really shitty idea to give a profession that, again, lives depend on to a traumatized ex-assassin child whose adults are for some reason refusing to parent or even fucking guide.
We’re fanfic writers, we stare at a wall imagining beautiful prose for hours before writing precisely one sentence, getting writer’s block, and flopping to the floor in defeat.
We're fanfic writers, we spend hours researching an incredibly niche topic we know nothing about so that we can have one sentence be factually correct
I just had an Idea. What if Damian met Tim during the time he was training with Lady Shiva? I’m like 90% sure Damian trained with her at some point, and I know for sure that Tim did. So what if they met through her?
then when Damian ends up in Gotham he recognizes Tim not as Robin but as lady shiva’s apprentice. I imagine it would go smth like this:
Tim, opening the door: Hi
Damian: Timothy?
Tim: Damian???
Damian: Why are you here?
Tim: I live here. Damian: *shocked murder baby noises*
"DICK GREW UP AS AN ONLY CHILD AND GOT HIS FIRST SIBLING AFTER HE WAS A FUCKING ADULT! HE DOES NOT HAVE ELDEST DAUGHTER SYNDROME AND HE IS NOT THE SIBLINGEST OF SIBLINGS!!" i scream as they drag me back to arkham
Literally I have no one to tag but yk hi
A friend threatened me to repost so I will!
Basically, there r tons of fake asses on tumblr who just want comments and followers, so someone started this to see who's actually a good friend. Everyone I tag better repost (and tag other people and preferably threaten them in a creative way as well) bc I'm high on caffeine and newfound lesbianism and will resort to violence.
@ey-theys-was-coronas
@fangirlhehe
I would tag more people but they're the only ones I've really interacted with-
ao3 is being slow lately and its pissing me off because there’s a 50/50 chance when i click “kudos” nothing happens like let me appreciate a fic smh
in my heart red robin does not have a cowl. he has a domino mask. condom head!red robin? i dont know her and i dont want to.
gotta love those scam bots asking me to commission them, its like... dude. this is a chatfic. wdym "loved the prose"??? was it when i had Character A call Character B a gay idiot? was it the fucking crowbar threat??? huh???
i despise when people say that tim is boring
because, no???
people have just decided that all of tim's character traits are just favoritism.
literally had this exact fucking conversation with someone a few days ago:
"i don't like tim because he's boring."
"oh, why?"
"he doesn't have any character traits."
"yes he does. he sees himself as a sentient tool, consistently chooses others over himself, is one of the few characters who actually understands the symbols of batman and robin separate from the people in the suits, is a detective equal to and sometimes better than batman, he's great at hacking, he constantly makes new allies and is a big part of the reason batman has a support network."
"no, that's just from runs where tim was unfairly favored."
"ohhh. i see. you decided that tim doesn't have any character traits because when he is respected as a human being and not just a Tool for the characters you like better and can, you know, show his character traits, you have decided it is favoritism and doesn't count. let's not think about the 10~ years when tim was a fucking background character and basically Didn't Matter in comparison to the more popular characters. that wasn't favoritism towards anyone at all."
hey. hi. so.
might be a little obsessed with Tim Drake. this is not new. what is new, however, is the idea of timothy jackson drake being raised as a shield.
you know how some children are raised as weapons? that sucks. but weapons have a use. they're sharp, they're dangerous. sometimes they're respected in some capacity. some people have emotional attachments to their weapons. a weapon is valued for the threat that it is simply by being. a weapon is valued for the damage it can do. and that sucks. but a weapon is valued, pretty much automatically, because a weapon has a purpose.
but shields? their entire purpose is someone else. a shield is worthless without someone to shield. a shield is used until it breaks, and then it's immediately replaced. a shield is valued as long as it's stable, as long as it takes the hits meant for someone else. a shield is valued until it takes too many hits and it breaks. no one will repair that broken shield. it's never going to be as stable as it used to be. better to just get a new one.
anyways. tim drake is a shield, not a sword. at first he was shielding his parents reputation. then he was shielding Batman, both his reputation and his health- mental and physical. and he never stopped. he spent a year with the league of assassins to protect batman. to rescue him.
and when he gets back from that year? he's shielding Bruce by taking the brunt of work at WE.
to conclude: tim was raised as a shield instead of a child and i can't stop thinking about it.
i don’t understand people who read a fic, love it, and then don’t kudos it. because when i read something, clicking kudos is kind of just. part of the reading process. i don’t even have to like the fic all that much. as long as i didn’t hate it it’s getting a kudos.
because someone out there wrote that. someone out there is refreshing their email, waiting to see if anyone has read their work. if anyone thought it was beautiful, compelling, funny, thought-provoking. someone out there is waiting. and i click kudos so they don’t have to wait anymore.
I answer to EITHER Ruby or Azalea, she/her. Send me asks about anything.
