28th March 781 - the only exact date we got I believe
Events which happened only in tBoaH (the Birth of a Hero timeline) or in both are on the left, events from TCF (Trash of the Count's Family timeline) are on the right.
"Destr." is short for "destruction", since I couldn't find a better shorter word
1!KRS and 2! KRS refer to Kim Rok Soo from Earth 1 (the 36 years old KRS turned MC Cale) and Kim Rok Soo from Earth 2 (the KRS who's 20 years old). (...which lead me to the whole confusion with dimension travel ages?? That's why there are 2 sides. How do you count age, from which timeline, before or after regression? So I decided to include both.)
* - Before Felix Calendar begins ** - or >240 B.F.C if his first life counts *** - the birth of KRS's originally intended body, taken over by White Star (Cale B.) through reincarnation **** - I think it was mentioned that Beacrox was 8? I'm not 100% sure tho since I don't remember the chapter

Random things I keep forgetting about -
Cale is the mysterious priest that will show up in the Whipper and Paerun kingdoms history
Eruhaben is a swordmaster
Bud is also a swordmaster
Bud has a smelling ancient power

Ogcale! Still has the soul of a Thames making him a hunter
Choi Han will become a god
Raon is a dragon lord
*Cale is technically a saint of death

Cale when around choosing high rank officials, this includes at least 2 emperors
Cale smells like nature, so like a forest or something
Princes Alberu will live a long life compare to humans so he plans to retire in Endable
There is a penguin tribe
These are just some fun things I forgot about and am just catching while re-reading. Itās fun to see how the characters progress and just see thing and be like āoh yeah that was a thing!ā.
Like remember when Cale first meet Clopeh? He pretended to be some holy entity send by god to burn a lake just to fuck with him. Like why ļ¼ļ¼¾āļ¼¾ļ¼
Or how some of the dragon sayers are bffs with dragons!
I was gonna post this as a reply for this post by @he4d-banger but it got too long so Iām making it a separate post.
I have talked about this before but Iāll talk again because I love talking about Caleās complex emotional state.
More than pushing them away, Cale completely ignored his grief which has made him completely emotional constipated. This has lead to many side affects which get glossed over most of the time since we read the novel from Caleās pov.
Some that I can remember from the top of my head right now are: dissociation, selective memory, depression, anxiety, stress and tons of physical problems like eating disorder, etc. which Iāll get into more another time. His self destructive tendencies based on the decisions he makes are all because of his emotional constipation.
Caleās denial over his own symptoms has become chronic over the years even tho itās fairly visible from other peoples perspective. Some instances I can remember where we see Caleās condition from other peoples pov are: moments when Alberu tells him heāll definitely get his slacker life, everyoneās reaction to him smiling after crying, Choi Han meeting younger Cale, the villainsā reaction when Cale gets angry, everyone telling him heās too weak and skinny, Ron and Choi Hanās pov during side story 7 after Cale dreamed about CJS and LSH first death anniversary, etc. Everyone can recognize that heās not well.
And about the venting on destroying stuff, thatās exactly correct. Many times when we see the fight from the other pov of the villain, most of the dialogue is about how angry and terrifying Cale looks. Of course part of that could be due to the effect of Dominating Aura, but they specifically mention Caleās expression and the look in his eyes a lot. Thatās what truly terrifies them. Cale doesnāt recognize this but heās really expressive, everyone says that heās very expressive and lets his emotions slip through his face.
Another case when he couldnāt control his emotions anymore was when he cried. An interesting fact is that people who arenāt used to crying and/or hold themselves back from crying, once they do actually cry they canāt stop the flow of tears and are motionless and/or rather calm and quiet. Itās that silent unstoppable crying that Cale displayed. His grief finally exploded after meeting LSH and he couldnāt understand the sadness he was feeling at that moment because the meeting ended with consolidation and relief. All the pain over the deaths of his best friends finally released.
That is a complete contrast to his reaction in side story 7 after the first anniversary of his teamās death. When he arrived home he just collapsed on the floor expressionless. Not once did he cry. But the way he collapsed at that moment said a lot about his state at the time. All the stress accumulated in his body from holding back his emotions all day today affected his physical health to total exhaustion
Actually in my opinion SS7 is one of the best chapters about examining Caleās emotional state. There are multiple visible of him suppressing his emotions like: keeping a neutral expression all day around, refusing to mention what day it was tomorrow even though everyone knew, not closing his eyes in front of the grave because the memories would resurface, the small panic attack shown by his shortage of breath, background silence and feeling of heaviness, and you can see how burned out emotionally and physically he feels. The only way he wouldnāt feel these things was by working, as it is noted multiple times throughout the story that he never took days off.
And my favorite moment was when we see Cale waking up from the dream and very clearly experiencing signs of ptsd and a panic attack. He was feeling cold despite the entire house being heated with magic, cold sweat running down his face, shortage of breath as soon as he woke up and a distressed expression as shown from Ron and Choi Hanās pov He also felt the need to hear noises and pet the kids to make him feel a sense of attachment with reality since the silence in his memories made him feel suffocated. Tho Cale himself couldnāt recognize these symptoms.
That side story also shows how he has grown emotionally throughout the novel now becoming more emotionally open with others.
I can also go on about his selective memory, anxiety, get more into his self destructive lifestyle and about his obvious signs of depression during his team leader days and early part of the novel while touching on his childhood trauma, but this post is already long enough so Iāll leave those for another day.
Cale hates when people sacrifice themselves. He hates when they push themselves too hard, especially for him.
Because thatās what happened with Lee Soo Hyuk and Choi Jung Soo, isnāt it?
Cale was supposed to die. They sacrificed themselves for him, and he lived, and now he gets visibly upset when people try to do things that are similar.
What does he think about when he sees people work themselves till they faint? Itās stupid. Not just because itās not healthy, but because itās sacrificial. He hates martyrs. He hates it when theyāre his friends.
Cale has a weird complex, right? Sacrificing himself left and right, fainting, but not allowing anyone else to do the same? Hypocrite, right?
(Chapter 695)
This is weird, isnāt it? This complete lack of awareness is concerning! Itās almost as if heās oblivious to the fact that he does the same thing all of the time!
To everyone else, yes, this situation with the crown Prince fainting after using all of his mana is a perfect parallel to Cale using his ancient powers too much and going into a coma.
But Cale doesnāt see his actions in the same light! He really isnāt trying to sacrifice himself 90% of the time! The collateral damage (fainting, bleeding, pain) is usually not part of his prediction, and if it is, itās more than he expected.
His intentions and thoughts are always about keeping his friends safe, and heās okay with coughing up a bit of blood to do that! Just a bit, maybe enough that it will look scary but it wonāt hurt him in the long run and thatās okay.
If he faints? It wasnāt planned, so itās not really sacrifice. Maybe a little but heās selfish enough already, itās the least he can do, honestly.
When Cale puts himself in danger itās for selfish reasons. Self-declared selfishness, but thatās how he sees it.
Cale doesnāt sacrifice himself. Everything he does is because he chose to! He chose to. If it doesnāt hurt too bad, he doesnāt consider it as doing much at all. The level of pain he experiences in every situation is his way of determining how much heās āaccomplished against his willā (sacrificed).
Not only that but there are circumstances he must be in to even consider it of consequence to other people. If it doesnāt happen while someoneās in danger, it doesnāt really matter, does it? He doesnāt understand why someone would be asking about his well-being. He doesnāt plan to let anything that happens affect his plans, so thereās no reason for them to worry.
If heās not on a battlefield, all of the effort he puts in?
(ancient powers) (strengthening his friends) (being in pain and pushing through it) (planning and strategizing) (so, so much more)
It doesnāt count. He is familiar with meticulously and extensively optimizing his time, because as KRS, monsters attack indiscriminately. Being prepared and working hard to be strong is nothing when compared to the battle soon to come, therefore, it doesnāt count as āwork.ā Itās what is expected. It is the basic standard for what is required to survive.
Where everyone sees Cale working nonstop for weeks and months and years, itās a normal weekend for him. Those days outside of battle donāt count. He worked like that for 15 years, so much stress is easy for him.
But- why doesnāt he recognize that he pushes himself until he faints? Thereās a threshold that he passes where he faints, but he still keeps crossing it?
Well, because heās the protagonist and- often, our only source of information for what happens in this world- narratively, he tends to stay awake and only faints when the battle is coming to a close, or has just closed. If the battle ends, his presence isnāt of vital importance, so itās fine if he was unconscious for a little bit. Other times itās involuntary and a result of his bodyās terrible condition or outside forces.
He doesnāt recognize his fainting as sacrificial because as long as the battle ends on a good note and heās still able to think and plan relatively soon after he wakes up, he hasnāt sacrificed much other than time. He also has Vitality of the Heart, which lets him feel rejuvenated after a ānap.ā
You see, Cale Henituse is interesting. He doesnāt know how to distinguish being selfish and selfless because being selfless is, in itself, an act of selfishness. When Cale (from the perspective of his friends) ruins his health and runs from battle to battle without resting or thinking about his friends concernā itās pretty selfish of him.
While everyone else considers him selfless, he thinks of himself as doing the āobviousā amount of work and being selfish too. That much work is expected of him, so it isnāt selfless. Itās all for his own gain, because when everything is over, heāll be the one going away to slack off in a forest. Ha!Heās seven steps ahead of everyone (and on the verge of collapse).
How trashy.
So to answer the question? Cale doesnāt notice his own sacrifices because he feels that:
1) his intentions remain solely selfish, so fainting and coughing up blood is just something he needs to do to get closer towards his goal.
2) anything that occurs outside of battle does not count as sacrifice because it does not affect how his plans will pan out, and everything he does is just a normal amount of work for him.
3) fainting is not on his list of to-dos, it happens without his consent- constantly- and it is very annoying because itās an unpredictable variable, but thankfully it happens when the battle is almost over/already over so itās not really fainting. Itās like taking a nap! Involuntarily, but at least itās sort of convenient.
4) being overly selfless is selfish, and selfish = bad, so Cale is a Bad Person and Complete Trash. Look at Cale, selfishly wanting his friends and his homeland to be safe so that he can retire. Bastard!
So, turns out his inability to realize the irony of his statements is because of the traumatizing 16 years of mental conditioning where pushing himself over the edge is normal and expected, spurred on by his socially isolated past that led to a lack of empathy and emotional awareness, and his two closest friends sacrificing themselves for him after his ability couldnāt predict the situation accurately enough.
Wow, it was the trauma all alongā¦

Chapter 258 ^
Chapter 259 ^
Chapter 303 ^ļæ¼
Chapter 420 ^
Chapter 560 ^
Chapter 584 ^
Chapter 656 ^
Iāve seen a lot of hate going around regarding the situation these two are in. Sometimes, in defense of one goat someone viciously bashes the other. It doesnāt have to be like that, though.
It seems like a lot of people are condemning her dislike of Asgore in their defense of him. Butā¦I think we should try to understand her point of view too.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Why is she so mad at Asgore?
It is heavily implied the children he killed were her children, in the same way Frisk is. Maybe for years.
Itās safe to say Toriel didnāt just nab these kidsā shoes and send them on their way. Some or most of them stayed long enough to need to new shoes and grow out of their old ones (or theyād still be wearing them when they left the Ruins) - a process that takes months or years depending on their age. Their old ones were put in the bin. They left, and died in their new ones. Rinse and repeat.
Added to this is the photo frame in the childrenās room. This frame is empty; if it were meant for her old family in New Home, it would still have them in it or not be there at all. Itās empty because the children, the humans who occupied the room before, in the picture died.
They were not just children that were murdered; they were her children. The same way Frisk is.
This isnāt just two exes disagreeing over policy; from her point of view, he killed six of her children (only one way into the underground, and thatās the hole in the ruins; Chara fell there too) and was starting on a seventh. Itās understandable that she canāt forgive him.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā But did he kill the other 6 humans?
Unfortunately, yes.
The humans made it to Asgore, but they didnāt make it past him.
It seems the other childrensā items were lost along the way, and scattered over decades, not markers of the childrensā graves; itās mentioned that the āfaded ribbonā was dropped down a hole. The other items likely met a similar fate; however, all the humans made it Asgore at the end. They did not make it past him.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Why did she take Chara when she left?
She didnāt do it out of spite, but believed that they deserved a proper burial.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Why didnāt she leave the barrier, and kill six people herself?
Toriel never wanted that plan to go through.
Toriel never wanted humans to be killed to break the barrier, even to free her kingdom. She would never have killed anyone to make it happen.
She didnāt call him out because she thought he should have left the barrier to kill more humans, she called him out because he gave everyone false hope and killed people; if four humans died and no others arrived then monsters would still be trapped forever, but the humans would still be dead.
Even when sheās facing down someone who killed her children, she cannot allow someone to take his life. She didnāt just come here to save Frisk; she came to save Asgore. No lives could be taken to exit the barrier. The value of life was absolute.
ā¦and I think we should try to understand Asgoreās plight as well.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā He declared war in a moment of devastation.
When Asgore declared war on humanity, he had just lost two children. He watched his son die from the wounds the humans inflicted on him, when he didnāt raise a finger to harm them. Humans who locked them in a hole to rot for thousands of years.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā¦and then couldnāt take it back.
The kingdom was in despair too; they had lost their prince, they lost their hope for reconciliation with the humans with Chara. He promised his entire kingdom heād take the humansā souls and free them.
He saved his kingdom from despair, and by the time his own grief had settled it was too late to take his promise back. He couldnāt take away their hopes and dreams.
He had a duty far beyond six souls of the humans - who doomed them to their situation and murdered his own son after he cared for one of their children - to the thousands of people in his own kingdom. It would have been justified for him to leave the barrier and kill six more humans after he got the first soul, right?
Ā Ā Ā Even after everything the humans did, he still valued their lives.
This is why he didnāt leave the barrier after getting the first soul.
He couldnāt state outright that he didnāt want to kill them to the kingdom, and plunge them back into the horror of being trapped in the dark forever. But he still hoped to never kill another one, even after they kept coming. Even after the sixth. If he could avoid killing even one, he would. To this end, he even instructed his scientists to find any other way to break the barrier, without a single other person having to die.
For the record, hereās how he looks at Frisk when he sees the very last soul he needs to free his people from millennia of imprisonment that they never deserved:
He takes two steps back and stares at Frisk in utter horror. Thereās a long silence. He actually panicked when he saw Frisk.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā And how many times does he try to to spare your life?
Translation: Please donāt come into the next room.
āIf not, I understand. I am not ready either.ā
Translation: Please turn back.
Thereās still time.
And when he finally does fight youā¦
He holds himself way, way back. He has the ability to one-shot you. He has the potential to not get a scratch on him from Friskās tiny LV 1 self. Whatās going on here?
Because they are made of magic, monstersā bodies are attuned to their SOUL. If a monster doesnāt want to fight, its defenses will weaken. And the crueler the intentions of our enemies, the more their attacks will hurt us.
This is how much he doesnāt want to fight you. Along with holding back his last attack, so you can only ever die if youāre already at 1 HP.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā So whyād he destroy the mercy button?
He doesnāt really want to win either. And in the event he loses, he doesnāt want mercy. If Flowey doesnāt show upā¦
He dismisses his idea of living with Frisk peacefully as a fantasy, says Frisk and his other human childĀ āhave the same look of hope in your eyesā, thinks Frisk could be the Angel of the delta rune prophecy, and believes they can free everyone from outside the barrier. He then takes his own life.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā He was not wrong to want to spare the humans.
Despite their souls being necessary to free everyone, Itās important to understand the stakes here. With each successive soul, he is not just looking down at the possibility of taking another childās life when they show up. If he gets 7, he will no longer have an excuse to stay below ground. He will have to break it. He will then have to destroy the lives of billions to let his people on the surface.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā but if one shows upā¦.
If a human shows up in his castle, it is because they want to leave. The confrontation is then inevitable, because they have to take his soul to do that. He never hunts them down. But if it comes to fight, he has a duty to fight and try to take their soul, for the entire kingdom. Their hopes are riding on him. So he killed them.
ā¦and the barrier really couldnāt have been be broken without 6 of them, and the souls of every monster underground except Napstablook.
I think itās possible to appreciate the agonizing position Asgore was put in, as a person so gentle he couldnāt even painlessly take the lives of humans, who killed his son and trapped them underground, with the hopes of the entire kingdom, and the destruction of an entire species, resting on his shoulders to do it.
I think itās also possible to appreciate the position of Toriel, who has lost several of her children to his hands, and canāt forget it or forgive it, but still believes he deserves mercy.
Itās no competition. Please love both of the goat parents. Neither are bad people and theyāve been through too much.
Bonus: Are they ever ever getting back together?
Ā They are not ever ever getting back together.
ā¦but heās still smiling in the end, isnāt he?
The story this world was created for didnāt pan out, but I still love it. So I sent a visitor from our world to this one, who is not delighted to find that instead of a clear conflict between good and evil, she is confronted with something very different.
#
The priest led the way into the great hall. āIt is strange to me,ā he said chattily, āthat you do not know the gods. Surely there is no place so far that the gods do not hold sway there.ā
The stranger cleared her throat. āI do not⦠know that I do not,ā she said carefully. āBy other names, or seemings, perhaps⦠but I would know them as you know them.ā
āAh, I see. Yes, that I can understand.ā The priest smiled. With his long grey hair and beard flowing over a white robe, he looked like a small, spare saint himself, genial and contented. āThen I will tell it to you from the beginning.ā He walked up the length of the hall, and gestured to the two statues that stood on either side of the great altar, with the gold-leaf sun and hammered silver moon on the wall above it.
āThere are eight gods,ā he said, and his voice settled into the cadence of one repeating an old teaching. āAnd no one of the eight stands alone, but always as one of a pair. First among the gods stand Elu and Surm, whose aspects are those of Life and Death. There are those who say that they are the parents of the other gods, and others who say that they are only the oldest, but all that the others are springs ultimately from them.ā
āI see.ā The stranger looked up at the statue on the left, who stood by the golden sun. āElu⦠life⦠is perhaps the one I know as the Mother.ā
āYes, for all life comes from a mother.ā The priest nodded, also gazing up at the statue. It was beautifully crafted, perhaps twice as tall as the stranger, a vivid portrayal of a woman of middle years, with the rounded belly and hips of children borne, the plump limbs of health and plenty, lines of wisdom and of humour on her face. She wore a loose robe, and a crown of leaves and flowers on her long hair, and fruit and grain filled the basket in her hands. āElu brings life, and all that lives, from the greatest beast to the smallest, from the richest fruit to the smallest seed, from humankind to a flower that blooms and dies in a single day.ā
He turned to the other statue, Surm. This was a man, also of middle years, but he wore armour, and carried a bow in his hand. āAnd Surm, her opposite and equal, who closes the circle. Where there is life, there must also be death, and Surm rules over all forms of death. He is a warrior, and a hunter, and also a healer, as is Elu, for the healer stands between life and death. Surm is the ending, as Elu is the beginning, but in truth they are the two halves of a circle, for from death life comes again, and from life death is born.ā He gestured up at the sun and moon. āElu is the first of what we name the sunward four, and Surm of the moonward, for the sun and the moon, like the gods, are a pair, opposite and yet united.ā
āI see. Who comes next?ā
āOf the other three pairs, the order in which they stand varies. They are all of equal status and importance, as gods, but in different times and places some may take a greater hand than others.ā The priest moved back a few paces. āHere, the second pair are those we call Kord, the sunward, who represents order and creation, and Kaos, the moonward, who represents chaos and destruction.ā
The stranger looked from Kord, a statue of a man holding a chisel and a measuring rod, his robes perfect, his braids as straight as the rod, to Kaos, a woman all disorder, from her wild curls to her ragged motley to her very pose ā while Kord stood erect, Kaos was dancing, one foot raised, ribbons flying about her. āGood and evil?ā the stranger asked, frowning.
āNo, order and chaos.ā The priest frowned too. āAll the gods have their aspects of both good and evil, of course. Elu creates life, and she is the mother of the devouring wolf or bear just as she is of the lamb or the kid. Surm brings death on the battlefield, but also peace after long life and ease after suffering. Kord is the god of order, of precision, of law and of rule, of measurement and of numbers. But Kord is a sterile god, and life does not thrive under his governance.ā He turned to wild, laughing Kaos. āKaos reigns over destruction, it is true, but not all forms of disorder are destructive. She is the song of the bird and the frisking of a foal as well as the destruction of the earthquake or the tidal wave, and she rules over weather both good and bad. She also rules the human heart, its loves and hates, and she brings both joy and sorrow.ā
āI see.ā The stranger did not sound as if she saw, but she looked thoughtfully at Kord and Kaos before they moved on to the next pair.
āOn the sunward side, Sugulahna, the neighbour, the kinswoman, the ally, the friend, the loyal one.ā This statue was young and vigorous, with a cheerful smile. She wore a simple tunic, and held out an open hand. āSugulahna is the goddess of unity, of trust, of loyalty. When she stands with her brother Kord, they watch over cities and towns, and places where many people must live together in order and harmony. With Kaos, she signifies love and friendship, the ties of family and the bonds of loyalty. In her benign aspect, she is generosity and faith. But turned aside, she is the selfish partner, the treacherous lover, the ungrateful child, the usurper and betrayer. She is all that is best and worst in those around us.ā
āOne who can give great pain and great joy,ā the stranger commented.
āNone can give greater.ā The priest nodded solemnly. āAnd on the moonward side stands Vuāuras, who is often called āthe Strangerā.ā The statue could hardly be called a statue, exactly, for no face or clear form could be discerned under the enveloping robes that might as easily have covered a clothing-stand as a human figure. The only sign of the body underneath was a single slender hand extending from a sleeve to clasp a travellerās staff. āThe Stranger is the Other, the traveller, the foreigner. The Stranger, when standing with Kord, is the diplomat, the envoy, the spy. With Kaos, the chance-met helper or kindly passer-by⦠or the bandit. The Stranger is sexless and unknowable, and yet the Stranger delights in the sharing of knowledge.ā
The stranger smiled slightly. āLike me. A stranger chance-come, who knows nothing but wishes to learn?ā
āIndeed, just like.ā The priest moved on to the last pair of statues. āHere you see, on the sunward side, Teadmised, who is the god of knowledge and learning. Teachers, scholars, and the wise are all in his domain, and he is said to have created all means of record-keeping, from wall paintings and lore songs and tally marks to the written word.ā He beamed up at the statue. Like the priest, Teadmised was an old man, long-bearded and a little stooped, with a lean, kindly face. He was wrapped in a long robe with a stole, and carried in his hands a scroll and a brush. āTeadmised is the god of wisdom. His benign aspect brings invention, and art, and joy, but his reverse is deception, and error, and lies.ā
He turned to gesture at the moonward goddess. āThis is his sister Salahdused, who rules over mystery, and secrets, and the unknown. Vuāuras and Surmās realms both overlap with hers, for death and the stranger both partake of the unknown. Salahdused is the hardest of all the gods to understand, by her very nature, and thus is most often the one distrusted, or considered āevilā as you put it.ā He patted the base of the statue. It portrayed another hooded figure, but unlike the Strangerās, this hood did not conceal a slyly smiling face, and the sleeves of the robe fell back to show slender arms, one hand raising a lighted lamp, the other cradling a wrapped bundle against her hip. āCertainly the unknown can be dangerous, and secrets can wound. Her domain is darkness and the sea, hidden caves and deep water and secret places, all dangerous to humankind. And yet she is also the goddess of luck, which is its own kind of mystery. She can bring ruin and betrayal and death, but she is also the unknown friend, good fortune unlooked for, and aid when all hope is lost.ā His voice softened. āIt is Salahdused who brings misfortune, and hope, and to whom we all turn at last, with curse or with plea. And when her father Surm comes, to guide the dead onward, it is Salahdused who holds up the lamp to light the way.ā
āA goddess we all need, though we may not always be grateful.ā The stranger looked up and down the lines again. āThey are *all* the known and the unknown, are they not? On the sunward side, in the light of day, stand Life, Order, Family and Knowledge. On the moonward side, Death, Chaos, the Stranger, and Mystery.ā
āYes, exactly!ā The priest sounded pleased. āNot many people see that, without being told. That is why they are ordered so. Some people think it is because the sunward are kindlier, but it is not so. It is only that they stand for what we understand. And under the moon, which waxes and wanes, stand the gods who rule over the unpredictable and unknown.ā
āMost people⦠where I come from⦠equate light with good, and darkness with evil.ā The stranger tugged absently on her braid. āBut your gods are⦠more complicated than that.ā
āGood and evil are not real things,ā the priest said simply. The stranger looked at him, and he smiled gently. āI do not mean that they do not exist, but they are not⦠of the world. Birth, life, is real. Death is real. They exist, they have substance. A measuring rod or the wildly rolling debris of an avalanche are real. Family is real. Strangers are real. A story or a written word are real things, as are the sea and caves and deep water, be they understood or not. And all of those things may bring about good or evil, depending on circumstances. They can be used for good or evil. But good and evil are not, in themselves, real things.ā
She nodded slowly, looking at the gods. āSo to you⦠good and evil are in the effects. The aspects. The intent. Not⦠powers, in themselves.ā
āYes, you understand.ā The Priest bent to pick up a dead leaf from the ground, which might have fallen from a shawl, or blown in through one of the high windows. āTake this leaf. If it fell on a stony street, it might grow wet, and slip under a foot, and cause injury or death. If it fell on barren ground, in its decay it would render the ground a little less barren. Here on the floor of the temple, it might cause additional trouble to a sweeper⦠or provide a priest with a timely example, thus doing me, and you, good.ā He smiled. āBut the leafās nature does not change. It is just a leaf. How, in its falling, it affects others⦠that depends entirely on circumstance.ā
āI see.ā This time, she sounded as if she did understand, and she took the leaf and held it gently. āAnd what of people, priest? Are they not good or evil?ā
āOf course they are. Mostly one, or mostly the other, or more often a mixture of both in some degree.ā The priest shrugged. āBut that a matter of choice, and of intention, and even then it is very rare that an action does not have effects both good and bad, whatever the intention. To come upon a man robbing another man, and to intervene ā well, from the point of view of the man who was being robbed, that is a good action. From the point of view of the robber, it is a bad one.ā He smiled serenely. āAs the proverb says, the storm that sinks a ship may bring rain to the fields.ā
The stranger was silent for a time, seeming to consider, and the priest waited patiently. When at last she spoke, there was a note of frustration in her voice. āI have never known a faith, or gods, so adamantly to set their faces against certainty.ā
The priest laughed. āOh, if it is certainty you want, Kord is in accord with you. He loves certainty. One will always be one, and a square will always be a square. An arch correctly made will not fall, and a law followed will bring order. Thereās great comfort in certainty! But certainty is the enemy of growth, and invention, and change, and so Kaos dances through Kordās order, bringing destruction and growth and change.ā He folded his hands over his belly and looked up at the sun and moon on the wall, his voice gentling. āI think that what you are seeking is not certainty but simplicity. An easy answer. The good and the evil. But what is real is never simple, and the gods least of all. All we mere mortals can do is the best we can, with what we have.ā
The stranger sighed. āI know that you are right,ā she said. āBut the other would be easier.ā
āIt is not the responsibility of the gods to make your life easy,ā the priest said, a little tartly. āIt is the responsibility of the gods to make life possible. The rest is your own affair.ā

For me, og!Caleās love language is Acts of Service. The website defines this as: For these people, actions speak louder than words. I think it fits Og!cale very well since we all know he pretended to be trash without even saying anything to anyone. He also hid his hurts and isolated himself because he foolishly thinks it was for the best while swallowing his issues thinking that he was being selfish.Ā Ā Of course, he also swallowed his further hurts when the Molan duo decided to follow Choi Han. I think for people like og!Cale (and like me) with this type of love language, what was needed the most is Quality Time (def: This language is all about giving the other person your undivided attention.) and Words of Affirmation (def: this language uses words to affirm other people.) from people who claim to care and love him. I think Quality Time with Deruth suffered ever since his mom died because Deruth and og!Cale was in two different places. Deruth was having a new leash of happiness and og!Cale (Iām assuming) is still grieving and also has to contend with the fact that Deruth has a new family. Plus, Deruth has to blend his family and Iām not sure he did a good job at that.
Anyway. Words of Affirmation are a bit tricky since (for me) that would be like enabling his ātrashā person but I would have expected some one-on-one talks with his father (and initiated by Deruth like yo, be a parent) would not be too much to ask/expect. (I donāt know if that happened in canon so let me know if I'm talking out of my rear). I definitely won't mind an intervention because Iām a believer in either solving the problem or they all go no contact since everyone isnāt on the same page. Either stop the misunderstanding right there or suffer the effects of misunderstanding together. Misery does love company even in families.
I am sure that Deruth and Violan have tried, but the only thing that gives me a good picture of that effort is to support Og!cale while he is being purposely self-destructive (I donāt know if this is a good idea) and throw money at him (something that I am way too much familiar with). Again, if there is any info I missed, I would love to be corrected.
So, what do think of og!Cale's love language? Do you think he would have been better if he has a different one aside from Acts of Service? Ā
Let's be honest in this whole transmigrating situation, the one who got the shortest end of the deal isn't krs! Cale. Like, sure, he was forced into a series of sucky things, but he still gets something out of it.
You know who's the one that doesn't benefit whatsoever from Kim Rok Soo's deal?
The original, unknowing, 18-year-old, Cale Henituse.
Did the now Kim Rok Soo realize he had killed an innocent 18-year-old boy the moment he regressed?
I'm writing a reaction fic with an alive tboah!Cale, but tboah!Cale is not the original Cale, and sometimes I can't help but think about the truest victim that everybody has forgotten: Cale Henituse, the boy whose entire existence was erased the moment 40-year-old Cale regressed.
Can you imagine? One day, you went to bed like normal, and then your body suddenly ceased to be yours.
Apparently, your depressed "older self" - who had already lived his life but was now stealing yours - not only decided to kill you in the name of the "Greater Good", he was also too much of a coward to stay.
Your "older self" (and your murderer) had made a deal with a God and would be fucking off to another world very soon.
You were left to come to terms with 3 things:
A stranger will be taking over your body in your stead (and you know they don't have a choice in this either, but still, you hate-)
You will die. No, more like you will get deleted (and no one will even remember that you had once lived)
You do not get any say in any of this. (You never did, and now, you never will.)
(And to think that in another world, you would have grown up to become him.)
(In the end, Cale Henituse dies hating himself.)
It keeps me up at night sometimes.
Me to the shadow in the living room at 4:57 AM: No you do not understand the perfection of White Starās death being so quick and unimpactful. He is someone who lives for the attention. His god complex is so empowered that he hates when something doesnāt go his way or heās not the center of attention drives him insane. The whole fated rival bullshittery with Cale was just that, making it all about himself again. He needs to be important! So Yoo Ryeo Han making his death so quick and completely forgotten in a span of paragraphs is literally the finest torture for that manās nonexistent never resting soul. Itās not that Cale didnāt struggle to kill him. We didnāt really get to see what Cale was feeling using Instant like the time he broke the statues, we only saw what everyone else was seeing. Cale was probably struggling a lot going towards White Star. But that doesnāt matter! He will never know that and he died with the thought that he was killed in the span of 2 sec without even a fight. THATāS PATHETIC FOR HIM! A man who lived for the drama, died i. The most uneventful way possible for him and thatās the HELL for him and I LOVE IT! Itās similar to Lockeās death in QON where he died off screen and barely given a paragraph to describe his death. Literally the biggest FU to these bastards is not caring about their deaths. Itās what they would have wanted and we aināt giving them that. So what Iām trying to say is that Yoo Ryeo Han is literally a genius when writing their character and especially scenarios depending on their personalities and how they would react in those situatioā

I think we should try taking a closer look at where she came from to understand what her state of mind was back then.

Iāve finally managed to make a vine compilation short enough that Tumblr will let me post it!
If your plot feels flat, STUDY it! Your story might be lacking...
Stakes - What would happen if the protagonist failed? Would it really be such a bad thing if it happened?
Thematic relevance - Do the events of the story speak to a greater emotional or moral message? Is the conflict resolved in a way that befits the theme?
Urgency - How much time does the protagonist have to complete their goal? Are there multiple factors complicating the situation?
Drive - What motivates the protagonist? Are they an active player in the story, or are they repeatedly getting pushed around by external forces? Could you swap them out for a different character with no impact on the plot? On the flip side, do the other characters have sensible motivations of their own?
Yield - Is there foreshadowing? Do the protagonist's choices have unforeseen consequences down the road? Do they use knowledge or clues from the beginning, to help them in the end? Do they learn things about the other characters that weren't immediately obvious?
People have a very consistent habit of completely forgetting Ralsei's existence.
Maybe he even forgets it himself sometimes.
Queen often outright ignores him...
Noelle doesn't usually acknowledge him, though she's usually very polite and friendly...
And it's not like she can't see him - she sees him get into the teacup with Susie and Kris...
...and realizes he's standing in front of her at one point.
She even wonders who he is...
...but, strangely, never asks him his name or talks to him when she gets the chance.
Even Susie, who is generally very good about remembering him...
...sometimes just forgets he's there.
(even squashing Ralsei and walking over him on her way to ask Kris if they missed her)
Strangely, Ralsei doesn't seem to mind this.
But there is one exception: when he finally puts his foot down to stop the Roaring.
Suddenly he's got everyone's attention:
Susie gives him a concerned look, Noelle notices him, and he completely cows Berdly, which might be a first for the whole cast.
Even Queen reels from what he says.
This leads me to believe that the reason people ignore Ralsei isn't from some sinister magic thing.
It's because he usually doesn't take a stand for his own existence.
He's so wrapped up in his "purpose" that he doesn't allow himself to have an identity.
Even to Ralsei, "Ralsei" barely exists.
And although people don't intend to, sometimes that means he winds up forgotten when he's standing right next to them.
I think the reason Ralsei doesn't turn to stone in other dark worlds might not be because he's created by the Grand Fountain. I think...
...It's because belonging is at the very core of who he is. Kris wants more than almost anything else to belong, to fit in and not be an outcast. But to do that, they would have to discard everything that makes them themself. Ralsei is what Kris wants to be, but not in the way you might think. Kris wants to belong, and Ralsei is who they would have to be in order to belong.
He's a goat, like the rest of Kris's family. He's smart, polite, helpful, does whatever you ask him, and lets you walk all over him. He doesn't treat himself like a person. Everyone's always asking, why can't you be more like your brother? And now you are. And that's what Ralsei is.
The people in the light world would take him for granted, just assume he's happy, and not wonder how he really feels. Fortunately, however, Ralsei's friends are Kris and Susie. They're not like the rest of hometown. They just want him to be himself and learn and grow with them. They just want to be his friends.
Let me be clear: Ralsei is his own person. He's only just starting to figure out who he is, beyond what I've described above.
I just hope we can be friends with everyone some day.
Part 1
Cale sits on Alberuās bed.
This⦠feeling, of his memories and feelings all contradicting. Itās a little disorienting.
His hands are dirty, but he knows theyāre clean. He could lay down and roll around on the princes bed, but his memories show a blatant disregard for what the prince thinks about what he does, yet he knows that he has respected and cared about the prince for a long time-
So what is it? Does Cale secretly respect him? Is his disregard an act? No, itās not. Disrespect is⦠a way to show respect? To hide his respect?
Cale develops a headache. Thereās a lot of new information in his mind, rolling around like a thunderstorm, and itās really starting to hurt.
His hand caresses the side of his head, and he aims his face into his lap, a frown forming. It⦠hurts.
It hurts.
Hopelessness drags on his new and good emotions. It hurts. He- he hates pain. His hands tremble.
Alberu watches Cale, unsure what couldāve happened to cause him to start crying. With a shaky mind, Alberu walks over to the frozen child sitting on his bed, making extra sure that his footsteps create noise. God, scaring a child? Scaring Cale? That would be a nightmare. He wouldnāt know how to handle it at all.
Despite Alberuās desperate wishes, Cale is deep in his subconscious, overwhelmed by a self-induced headache.
So when Alberu reaches over for the boys shoulder (like how Cale would comfort everyone), Cale flinches. Hard. He throws his body to the side of the bed and pulls his arms up to his chest, staring up at Alberuās figure.
Now, the Prince isnāt stupid. He knows what a flinch means, what it implies. Then why- he fumes- why is Cale of all people showing these responses? How bad did he have it in Korea?
So, while Cale lies on the bed and stares, Alberu decides that heās too tired to deal with this. This is incredibly annoying. This is- fucking depressing. He hasnāt slept for two days and suddenly being forced into babysitting duty is grating on his nerves.
He walks away to order the nearest servant to deliver cookies to his room, while he starts to brew tea. When the boy on the bed has a clear head and Alberu has some more strength, heāll consider asking whatās wrong.
Bringing the tea over to the bed, Cale stares at the cups.
āDongsaeng?ā Alberu sits on the bed next to Cale, who stops laying down. āDo you like sweet tea still, even when youāre like this?ā
Cale pinches his lips together. Forgoing a verbal response, he nods his head to the question and starts to reach out.
āDirtyā
āCarelessā
āIrresponsibleā
His hand freezes, and goes through a dozen calculations. Should he ask to grab the cup? He wouldnāt normally do that, no. Should he act more like an ignorant child, not as mature as he feels? Should he ask what he should do?-
Alberu watches the emotions that flit across the young face. They are all incredibly subtle, as if heās used to being so insecure but hiding it underneath a layer of confidence. Alberu relates to it on an uncomfortable level.
He almost expects the kid to ask if he should take the cup, but Cale firms up his face and decides to disrespect the Crown Prince anyway by grabbing the cup and taking a big sip of it.
Good, Cale reasons, looking at Alberuās face. Heās not mad, like he predicted. Heās learning the limits of the people he trusts because, while heās in this different body and has this smaller mind, people will react unpredictably. Anticipate violence, prepare for rejection, and accept whatever he can get his hands on. His old lessons from when he was a kid float into his mind, and they provide a comfort that none of his older memories have given him yet.
They sit in silence, sipping on tea and observing each other. The other children are disturbingly quiet, but they arenāt crying or angry. Theyāre just⦠watching. Raon seems to be the most restless, while On and Hong wait from a distance.
Those three children recognize the signs of abuse the most. Ever since he opened his eyes, they could see it all. The hesitation. The fake confidence. The awkward tense-relax-tense game that Cale is playing in his mind. Like heās trying to convince himself that heās in a safe place, but itās so hard to believe that he instinctively goes back to base one whenever he succeeds.
Theyāre going to launch their āattackā in a few minutes, but only after cookies. A servant quietly brings in a tray, keeping her eyes very specifically on the desk she needs to leave it on. Raon still turns him and the kittens invisible for the brief time sheās there, but she looked so focused that she probably wouldnāt have seen them had they been sitting right next to the crown Prince. On applauds her in her mind.
Cale keeps his mouth shut. The last thing he should do right now is talk. He knows when he isnāt welcome, and while the (fond?) exasperation from the prince is not quite the same as Cale is used to, itās close enough. He plans to stay quiet and do nothing. Itās dangerous to think about anything else.
What if he ruins his companionship with Alberu forever? That would be- bad. For when heās able to be big again, of course. It would be⦠whatās the word?
Inconvenient.
Cale doesnāt feel 7 years old anymore. His mind has been growing, in a weird way. Like heās subconsciously fighting against the curse by maturing his mind at a faster rate. He can think a little more clearly, analyze a little more precisely.
He finishes his tea and puts it down. Heās tired.
āDirtyā
āDisgustingā
āFilthyā
He looks down at his hands. He turns his palm over, examining it. He sighs in relief. Clean. Heās clean right now.
Heās startled by a red ball of fur pressing its face into his open palm.
āHong?ā His voice is soft, open just like his palm.
Hong purrs, and Cale falls for the distraction. He sets out to pet the kitten who is so innocently asking for them.
All of a sudden he hears Alberu shout from his side and a flash of black streaks across his vision. He looks up, but then On has transformed into her human form and the 12 year old body is stronger than it should be, with how easily she grabs the 7 year old and throws him by the pillows.
Cale barely finishes bouncing from being thrown when he gets crushed by Raon.
āHuman!ā
Cale opens his eyes and looks up at the blue eyes peering down into his soul. āRaonā¦ā
Raon cuts him off, resting part of his weight on Cale.
āWeāre having naptime! Majority vote! You have to sleep, human!ā
Cale frowned. He hadnāt had any cookies yet.
Raon interprets him wrong, and suddenly Cale is being thrust into Alberuās arms. āAdults are always the best at cuddling! Weāre leaving you to our most experienced member so you get the full package! Alberu, donāt let Cale go.ā His words leave a chill in Caleās body, and he resists the urge to shudder.
Then he realizes that Alberuās arms had really tightened around him. Cale squirms, because, what? Why canāt he just cuddle with the kids?
The answer becomes abruptly clear. Cale, smooshed against Alberuās chest, surrounded by two human cats and a dragon who insisted that he lay on top of the pile- discovers that, while Raon could use magic to restrain him, the human with long arms is just more effective at restraining people comfortably.
Cale pouts. He didnāt get any cookies.
Ron, Beacrox, and Choi Han arrive at the princes room. Ron was worried about him, while Choi Han was concerned that he wasnāt adjusting well. Does he feel safe? Has he eaten? Is the fact that they arenāt in Korea making it difficult? Meanwhile, Beacrox is just angry at a lot of things right now.
They found the demonic worshipper, but after torturing information out of him, they realized that Cale is in the Demonic Godās hands now. Killing the demonic worshipper doesnāt even break the curse.
They had run into Bud and Glenn while investigating, naturally. The merchant king had offered all of his resources to track down the culprit, which helped somewhat in finding him. Glenn offered them a quick teleport back to the palace, and they accepted.
āYoung master-ā
āCale-nim!-ā
āMy friend! Sob!- um?ā
Ron, Choi Han, and Bud speak all at the same time. They all pause however, at the sight of Raon glaring at them intensely. A transparent black shield covers a lump of bodies, and Glenn recognizes it as a soundproofing spell. He gets goosebumps at the mana swirling around the rest of the room dangerously.
Choi Han felt stunned. It has been a long while since Raon pointed his wrath at anyone in their family. What happened?
Ron then smiles, a chill covering the room instantly. āWhat are you covering, little dragon?ā
Raon uncharacteristically stays silent. He looks like a real dragon at this moment, all cold glares while he drapes himself over his hoard.
Then Choi Han puts the dots together. The Crown Prince is missing, documents unfinished. The kittens can be vaguely seen on the side of the pile that Raon is laying on, and if heās correct-
Cale is in the center.
Choi Hanās eyes sparkle at the opportunity in front of him. Bud takes a careful step away from him, but heās not paying attention to that.
Choi Han loves small cute things. Whatās more cute than a bunch of his favorite, small cute people (minus Alberu, who isnāt small, that he suspects is in the back) in a big cuddly pile?
Cale murmurs in his sleep, feeling an icy chill on the back of his neck. Someoneās plotting against him.
He becomes unsettled, pushing lightly against Alberuās arms in protest to the sensation. Alberu, who has fallen into an incredibly deep sleep, just tightens his arms. Cale decides to ignore the feeling, after getting that slight āscolding.ā
His mind, which had become around 9-10 in the short time that he had been thinking intensely, quiets. He allows himself to be comforted, and doesnāt notice the way his mind falls into that of a 8 year old during this nap.
He breathes softly, falls deeper into his sleep, and canāt feel the curse settle over his mind.
Choi Han fails in his attempts to sway the dragon to let him see. Raon, smarter than your average 6 year old, understands what Choi Han wants and what Cale wants, and that Cale should get what he wants right now. Privacy. Raon becomes even more determined to protect Cale while heās in this younger state.
Heās vulnerable.
The dragon in him growls at this. Everyone in this pile has been abused. He doesnāt know much about Alberu, but he saw the understanding glint in his eyes, so Raon determines that the Crown Prince is also under his protection.
Do the people outside their bubble understand that? Do they think that his human just happened to land in the middle of the pile, blocked from the worldās eye?
Raon huffs at Choi Hanās antics, ignores Ronās vague threat, and summons a second shield over the soundproof one, this one solid and not transparent.
The human told Raon that itās okay to be selfish. He wants to hold their little group closer right now, and he doesnāt want to share.
Cale flinches in his new, deep sleep. Raon lays his head back down on the pile, using magic to keep his human the perfect napping temperature.
He curses that he canāt do more right now.
Cale is pretty shameless.
If he was told by the GoD that he could get 1 billion gallons if he kissed one of his companions, he wouldnāt blush. No. He would start bartering.
āOnly a billion gallons? The Crown Prince has offered me more for less. Youāre a god, live up to the name. 30 billion for a kiss on the cheek. Iāll even do a knuckle kiss for 20 billion if you feel cheap.ā
The Sun God pitches in. ā50 billion gallons for a kiss on the lips.ā
Cale turns it down immediately. āYou think my first kiss is only worth 50 billion gallons? You must think youāre funny. You couldnāt afford my first kiss with your whole religion.ā
The GoD interrupts. ā85 billion gallons and a heavenly item.ā
He clicks his tongue, do they think heās stupid? āA heavenly item would only draw more attention to me. I want to be a slacker. Use your head.ā
Both gods curse. They canāt let him become a slacker, it would ruin everything.
After a minute of thinking, the GoD and the Sun God come to a conclusion. Theyāre going to cut their losses and take what they can get. āOkay, weāll buy a kiss on the cheek for 30 billion gallons.ā
Cale makes eye contact with them. ā50 billion.ā
The gods cry out in indignation, but Cale refuses to budge on this.
With a look of defeat, they split the cost and tell him to pick someone to kiss on the cheek.
He chooses Raon. The dragon is very happy with the sudden display of affection, and the gods curse the name Cale Henituse.
How refreshing was it for Alberu, who lived his life being disrespected and ignored, to writhe in the fake-politeness of scammers, living beneath his third and second brothers, to fight so hard for respect-
To have his life then be manhandled into a position of power and have a guaranteed spot as the next in line for king, by a man who talks disrespectfully and becomes petulant at the slightest inconvenience
Heās not disrespectful because of Alberuās political standing and heās not whiny because heās incompetent. Heās honest.
Heās disrespectful because- well, heās just that way with everyone heās comfortable with. If he acts respectful, itās probably because heās pretending in order to get something he wants.
Heās petulant, but only when itās something that can be fixed. Oh your highness, can you pay my travel expenses? Oh your highness, can I have a gold plaque for my hard work?
The man wants money!
Heās not greedy for fame nor power, he doesnāt want a spot right next to the Crown Prince when he becomes king. He wants money, he wants to fix the problems that disturb his life, and he wants to be a slacker. The Crown Prince has all the resources to do those things! Thatās his job. To create a peaceful kingdom that can still survive in war and chaos.
Cale just keeps dumping a bunch of resources on his head in order to do that.
Incessantly.
Like, he really doesnāt stop giving him information and allies.
Hah, but seriously.
He doesnāt stop.
He still hasnāt stopped.
Cale and Alberu are tools for each other. Thatās their relationship. They use each other because what one person lacks, the other does not. Cale has information and connections, Alberu has influence and money.
Itās a āØsymbiotic relationshipāØ
I want everyoneās best one liner writing advise!
Mine is that you have to know the ending of your story before you start it.
I got the 'written animatic' idea from one of @blueteller 's stories so thank you for that-
This is pretty short btw
---
You are my sunshine
A close up shot of Raon in Cale's arms. You're unable to see Cale's face, only the bottom half. Raon is looking up at Cale as Cale sings to him.
My only sunshine
The background is light gold colors, everything is just the slightest bit fuzzy. It seems as though they're in Cale's bed. Raon feels warm.
You make me happy
Cale begins to pet Raon softly on his head.
When skies are gray
Raon snuggles into Cale's arms just a bit more
You'll never know, dear
As Raon is closing his eyes, we see Cale's mouth begin to shake a little.
How much I love you
Cale brings Raon into his arms in an embrace, the point of view gets closer to them and we see Cale's shoulders begin to shake
Please don't take
As the point of view backs away, the warm and gold background slowly fades into a battlefield.
My sunshine away
We see Cale hunched over Raon, the indestructible shield covering them, they're in the middle of a battlefield with some of their comrades fallen next to them. Some fighting is still going on in the background as the screen fades to black

Inspiration really does come to me in the weirdest of places-
I wrote this pretty quickly, please do keep in mind-
Okay hear me out.
You know how react fics are actually thinly veiled excuses to show off what an awesome person Cale is? What if we twist that around a little bit?
So everything's the same at first glance, right? Literally everyone and their mother is here (kidding, just the most important ppl), and this host comes up.
(Or the unseen organizer, depending on whether or not you like a host OC here)
But.......
This host/organizer hates Cale. Like, despises him. Probably a Sealed God's follower or smth the like. They can't just make something out of nothing and put untrue bullshits on the screen, but they sure as hell can cut things around to paint Cale in the worst light possible.
Like, him being a transmigrator, him being happy at his "stolen" identity, him going around and scamming people, him using his knowledge to manipulate ppl around him, him generally acting even remotely "villainous".
No heroics to be found, just a video reel of Cale acting trashy.
Cale, at first, would be scared. He would be terrified, really. But as the video went on and he caught onto the malice directed at him, he calms right down, because that's who Cale is.
He would then spend the rest of the time prying the host/organizer's identity out of them, and plan an appropriate payback for this invasion of privacy.
Hell, at some point, he even nods in agreement, because, yeah, he's a trash, and it's about time everyone wakes up and notices that!
The rest of the participants, though, while may be confused at first, take one look at the badly edited slander on the screen, and collectively goes "Bullshit!"
Cale stealing og!Cale's identity? Kim Rok Soo, the og!Cale, smiles at the screen nastily.
Cale planning on using Choi Han? Choi Han wants to say that he doesn't have to stab his heart to kill a bastard.
Cale scamming Whipper? Harol lays out the enormous help Cale had given them, and that at one point, Cale was fighting for Whipper more than Whipper was fighting for itself (a la Whipper King, the bastard)
Cale scamming the Jungle? Litana raises the issue of Cale waking up from fainting, goes straight to save the Jungle and then fainting again.
Cale scamming Alberu? Alberu dignifiedly says that it's a partnership, and that it's his money, his choice.
Cale being implied saying he's ignoring the atrocities in front of him? Everyone snorts because they all know that immediately after that, Cale has bled to put a stop to all of those acts.
Cale saying he's not getting involved with that? On rolls her eyes: "So he said. Like a liar."
Basically, I just want a bastard who tries so hard to discredit Cale in his ppl's eyes only for Cale to nod along like he agrees with it and for the rest to become even more sympathetic to Young Master Cale who has such a soft heart who keeps getting himself hurt to save them all-
Cale: See, I am a tr-
Everyone: A HERO!!! OUR HERO!!!! OUR LORD AND SAVIOR!!! OUR GUIDING LIGHT FROM ANOTHER WORLD, THE CHOSEN OF THE GODS-
tldr: Cale suffered from Emotional Damages, but not the kind the host/organizer wants :)))))))))))))))

Raon: *follows him around for a week* Cale when he grudgingly accepts his company: "Okay, you can come with me. But just so you know, I am not a good person." *proceeds to raise and spoil him* Raon: "...Human, why are you so weird??"

Litana: "Oh what a humble and generous man!!" Cale when speaking to Adin: "Yeah sure, we are the same. I am very selfish." Litana: *watches as Cale single-handedly saves her Jungle once again* "Excuse me??"
Cale to Jack when he wants to use him: "I will help you, after all, I am a good person who helps people." Jack: "A true hero!!" Cale to Hannah when he wants her to trust him: "So I am a double-faced bastard, and revenge is a dish best served brutal and bloody." Hannah: "...You're not so bad?" Cale when he includes them in his plans later: "What are you even talking about? Of course I'm a bad person." *proceeds to overthrow the tyranny of the Empire and the Sun Church* Jack & Hannah: "Young Master Cale... You're not serious are you??"
Cale, planning his next scheme: "From now on, I am a good person." On & Hong: "...Why are you introducing yourself to us??" Cale: *confusion*
Cale: *makes a cruel plan on how to completely obliterated the enemy and/or learn new information about their opponents*
Everyone: *agrees with the plan and follows it step by step just as Cale had instructed them*
Cale: Wow vicious peopleā¦
Readers:
Just realised that Cale was the only "regular" human to ever notice Raon when he was invisible. Even back when Raon was first following him around.
Like, quite a few characters have noticed him throughout the novel, but Cale was able to figure out where Raon was located only using the skills he picked up as Kim Rok Soo.
Its pretty impressive and looking back on it, it could almost be considered foreshadowing.
Have you ever think the reason why Cale is protective to children is not because..
Of his childhood but the state of the apocalypse done to children. Have u seen children, toddlers in any apocalypse movies? Or the problem being shown in the movie āquiet placeā having a toddler and a baby with monsters sensitive in noise? There is a great chance that in apocalypse, children and toddlers are abandon, bought over yet killed in the way, or in the worse case scenario, cannibalism like what in the movies āsnowpiercer, 2013ā where they have no choice but to e.a.t the babies. Histories of where human is driven into cannibalism because of hunger.
Why Cale wishes the children, even the wolf children, and Lily stay as what children is. He just accepted the fact the children wants weapon as toys or Ron teaching the kittens, Sheritt to Lock, Choi Han to the wolf children so that the children knows self defense and take care of themselves in danger. Trying not to repeat the same thing of their pasts and his failure to what happened to the apocalypse, maybe another reason why he thinks of him as a trash.
Like the novel doesnāt mention any children except the teen siblings in the sealed god test In the earth 2.
After all, Cale had seen the cruelest and darkest side what can humanity do in the apocalypse.
Btw this just a theory of mine.
