Thank you @anyconstellation for voting for Oakie! We made this as a traditional piece and edited differently for color/contrast/etc in the two photos.

[Image description: a creature with a similar appearance to The Hollow Knight from the game Hollow Knight, an anthropomorphic bug-like being, is held in a cupped human hand. The creature has a white, horned head, pure black eyes and limbs, one arm and two legs, and a sword-like weapon across its back; it differs from The Hollow Knight only in that the tips of its horns are curved. End ID.]
Update on my hollow knight Ari! I have a nice cage set up for them in my apartment and they seem to be enjoying it. I take them out to pet them, play with them, and let them run around my bedroom (supervised) often- they seem to really like the attention so I’ve been handling them more than the recommended every 2 days or so. I’ve been feeding them fresh fruits and vegetables, the little critters really don’t need much. Here’s a picture of me with my little buddy:
Aww, what a sweet little buddy!
I gotta say, so much queer intra-community horseshit dropped off my shoulders when I decided to adopt a firm policy that everyone is the expert in their own identity, the single most knowledgeable person about what it's like to live life in their own skin, and that if someone describes their experience in ways I find contradictory or paradoxical I should do them the courtesy of presuming that they are striving to express something very specific and nuanced, rather than leaping to the conclusion that they're just dumb and using words wrong.
Sure, there are some combinations of identity terms that I look at and go "hmm, I don't get how that works." I'm still a human being. But there's a big difference between not getting how something works versus insisting that it doesn't.
Pls do not reblog anything with the old disability pride flag, it does cause seizure and migraines, please use the new one which was created by the same person with the feedbacks of many other disabled people.
This is the safe one:
Dont use the zigzag one, your making disabled space inaccessible for a part of the community.
Thanks to @nervoussaladbard for not only voting and reblogging, but sharing to a Discord server to get more support! In my opinion this gets two art things :)
Here’s one, a dragon I doodled in my notebook
In my biology lab classes:
Look at this cool living stuff! Today we’re dissecting flowers! What do you mean you won’t pipet by mouth? Yeah, wash your hands, don’t spill the microbes.
Would you like to taste this edible fungus? Or this edible plant?
In my chemistry lab classes:
So this is the concentrated acid and this other chemical will give you cancer and this one is highly flammable and might explode….
Always wear safety glasses and gloves and clothes that cover your body (in case you spill something corrosive or toxic) but aren’t too tight (so you can get them off fast in the event of Dangerous Chemical Spill) or too loose (so they won’t drag and catch on fire). NEVER EVER PIPET BY MOUTH OR TASTE ANYTHING OR EVEN SMELL ANYTHING BECAUSE DOING THAT MIGHT KILL YOU. Fires happen in the lab, let’s hope we don’t have any this semester!
Remember: Other people’s pain does not negate your own, even if their pain is “worse.” The reverse is also true: your pain doesn’t negate anyone else’s. While in some cases it might be upsetting to hear other people complain about “problems” that seem minor to you, saying things like “you haven’t really been hurt” is counterproductive; if a person says in good faith that something is painful to them or a struggle for them, it is. Comparing issues based on who has it worst usually leads to more hurt.
The queer community is full of hurt people.
This can lead to a knee-jerk reaction when we hear someone else say "I am hurt". We look at them and say "shut up, you're not as hurt as me because you have X privilege".
This leads to femme afab queers being told "you can pass and hide as cishet, you're not as hurt as queer women who look queer, you're just complying with the patriarchy's ideals for beauty, you're hurting the queer community, you're anti feminist."
It leads to masc afab people, whether trans men or nonbinary or genderqueer etc, being told everything from "you're not as hurt, you can pass as a cis man" to "you have no desire to transition, you still look like a girl, shut up".
It leads to trans amab people who are nonbinary or genderqueer or agender etc, who still dress or look "masculine", being told that they are "unsafe" for queer spaces, that they don't belong at a "women and nonbinary meeting", that they are "basically just cis men trying to escape accountability".
It leads to asexuals being told "you don't even feel sexual attraction, the thing we're ostracized for! how could you possibly be oppressed? You're just straight and a prude" and aromantics being told "you're just straight and like casual sex, get over yourself" and both being told "you're just a cishet who wants to steal resources".
I have heard every single kind of queer person say "I have been harmed and ostracized by the queer community". Lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and mspec people, trans people, aroace people - every single one of us has expressed feeling ostracized by our own community.
On the plus side, this means you're not alone. Your group isn't the only one facing this. You have allies!! Other queer people who have gone through what you've gone through!
We need queer unity. We need to stop attacking each other. If you feel the urge to say "shut up, my group has been hurt MORE", go take a walk. Remember that every single one of us has been hurt.
Hi :)
Posting silly propaganda for a poll battle not on this hellsite again; everybody support my favorite non-binary acorn.
Oakie the acorn is our school's mascot and they're the silliest. Every year there is a poll tournament for the best SUNY college mascot and I think they are the tumblr-iest. They're an acorn and officially non-binary. I will post art if people vote for them (and like this post or reply or reblog to let me know) as I have previously.
Anyone want to join my silliness?
The fact that Mark Cuban can do this is just further proof of how much capatalism is f*cking people over.
Billionaire investor Mark Cuban launched an online pharmacy Thursday that offers more than 100 generic drugs at an affordable price with a goal of being “radically transparent” in its price negotiations with drug companies.
For example, the leukemia drug imatinib is priced at $47 a month on MCCPDC compared to the $9,657 retail price.
The online pharmacy’s prices for generics factor in a 15% margin on top of actual manufacturer prices and a $3 pharmacist fee, the statement said.
Another art post thanks to an Oakie voter (thank you, @system-bracket !)
This is a metaphorical selves-portrait we made! Jacob is on the left, Katlyn is on the right, and our body is in the center.
Hi, we're the River System! Katlyn (she/they) and Jacob (he/him). Came for the fandoms, stayed for the off-the-wall and the cringe. 22, autistic (language abled and low support needs), Environmental Biology major. Actual Mad Scientists ;) [We do science and don't do sanity!] Mostly this is Katlyn obsessing over bugs and fandoms (Undertale, Hollow Knight, Little Nightmares, Fire Emblem: Awakening, RWBY, Arcane). Also may include photography, dark aesthetics, and general chaos from Jacob. (Cover photo by Sagar Patil on Unsplash)
