I'm watching Project Runway, and I'm having visions of Kara being one of the top designers, who keeps winning challenges for the sole purpose of being able to choose her model for the next challenge. She repeatedly chooses the same model, over and over. That model being Lena.

It's no secret-- in the interstitial interviews Kara blatantly declares that there's no way she's going to let anyone else choose Lena.

Lena is a competition staple, appearing across multiple seasons, and having the highest ratio of top looks across designers. Like, it becomes a running joke that whoever gets Lena as a model is practically guaranteed a top look, and if you end up on the bottom with Lena as your model you fucking DESERVE to be there, because you already had a leg up and you freaking blew it.

So the first time Kara gets Lena as her model, she knows she has to bring her best work. And she does. Again and again, for the express purpose of being able to choose her model for the next challenge. And the one time she slips and ends up as a top look but not the winner, Lena is selected by someone else. During that challenge apart, the b-roll footage catches Kara being distracted by and staring at Lena as she works with a different designer. But Kara still manages to pull it out and when she wins the challenge she leans forward and catches Lena eye with a wink. "I'll see you next time."

They lowkey become a hot topic of fan reaction, like are they or aren't they??? No one even knows if either of them are queer, but after Kara wins the competition she gets super big in the industry and her pieces are seen everywhere, but she and Lena are still seen out and about totether, making people wonder if they're friends or something more. Kara goes to all of Lena's shows to see her walk, and they often collaborate, so a lot of times Lena walks for Kara's collections. But everyone keeps wondering, until the day Kara wins some prestigious fashion honor and thanks her wife Lena in her speech.

Then the entire fashion world explodes in excitement.

I think people forget that tc are in a very different professional situation than other couples. They’re two of the biggest stars on a national team that gets a ton of media attention, and they play a lot of minutes together and at the same position. They have very different pressures on them than, say, Ali and Ashlyn did when they started being more public.

Right now, everyone knows that they’re together and they know that we know, but media can’t report on their relationship and that’s important. Rings and vacations and clearly-shared apartments aren’t enough for anyone to throw out a dumb question about whether playing time affects their relationship or ask about kids or whatever. Explicitly confirming their relationship would have a tangible impact on how they do their jobs. At some point they might decide it’s worth it, but it’s irritating when people expect it.

People need to understand that even if America is over the homophobia stage that would loose them sponsorship deals (it's not), there is still the part where gay couples are simply treated differently.

They get asked different questions and they get asked more questions. It's a distraction from your work, not because they are not professional, but because 95% of the media is unprofessional.

Being out doesn't require any of us to answer the questions of a herd of unprofessional and incapable journalists. Until it does people need to stop complaining about them not officially speaking out.

Supercorp bodyswap where Kara is immediately miserable because of how many back issues Lena has from sitting at a computer all day

They’re all standing in a very restricted, very awkward section of the DEO lab, sealed for all intents and purposes from outside view. Alex has a clipboard in hand, her pen hovering, like she can’t quite decide what to record.

“Lena,” Lena whines out loud, very obviously not to herself. She bounces on her feet. “Do you know how many blisters you have? It’s so uncomfortable in these shoes!”

“I mean, yes, Kara,” Kara responds in a clip, looking extremely stiff in her Supergirl regalia. Even her voice seems lower, aloof, and trained. “You’re in my body.”

Alex lifts her eyebrows, an expression she’s clearly made at least a dozen times since entering this room, and she makes a few notes.

“I’m so tired. My eyes are burning.”

Kara scoffs. “Please, it is not that bad. I’m starving, and I just ate. I feel like a bottomless black hole.”

“You’re not wrong,” Alex mutters to herself.

“You’re starving? I’m starving. Kale salads are not enough, I told you!”

Kara scoffs, but Lena continues, rubbing a hand to the small of her back.

“And my back is killing me.”

Her hands run around her own waist, and up. As if feeling, testing for other injuries. But they keep going up. And up. Kara stares at her intently as Lena lightly cups her own breasts, not thinking. Kara’s mouth falls slightly open.

“Do you not wear enough support?”

"Excuse me!” Kara yelps, high-pitched. “I--I wear enough support! You’re not--you’re not even wearing a bra! Under this!”

She motions to the super suit, blushing furiously.

Kara’s hands roam to slightly under her pencil skirt, lifting delicating to look.

“Is this a thong? I hate it!”

“You wear men’s boxers!”

“Hm,” Alex makes a note on her clipboard.

“DO NOT PUT THAT IN THE REPORT!” they both yell in tandem.

It's everybody's fault and nobody's fault. If we want to look at this tournament from a objective and rational point of view, we probably should say that this team arrived unprepared, those players didn't just forget how to be the fucking best in the world in 2 years, they just hadn't been prepared to face the development many teams actually had. They knew USWNT, USWNT didn't know them. Many players surely underperformed, in particular in my opinion Megan Rapinoe, Abby Dahlkemper, Sam Mewis and today Rose Lavelle too, while others I think didn't even have the chance to find a continuity. Tobin Heath never played winger or any kind of attacking role, she wasn't perfect but she was everywhere trying to cover all the holes on the field. And you can't sacrifice Tobin Heath as a damned martyr like this after an injury. Christen Press should have been THE leader of the offense line and she almost never played 90 minutes, and never with the same people. Alex Morgan paradoxically almost played better for Orlando Pride, with more runs and more movement, she just waited there. But just like Press she didn't even have consistency. Carli Lloyd was just at the finish line.

I don't understand the tactics. I tried to. I tried to imagine some greater plan, I thought they could find themselves again soon enough to turn this tournament around but they couldn't. And they couldn't also because sadly Vlatko didn't know how to manage this group. The way he changed every single line-up (I know turn-over is vital when you play every 2/3 days but you also need stability), they way he handled substitutions, changing all together the forwards and never giving a chance to create something stable with Tobin & Christen on the wings and Carli/Alex in the middle was absolutely absurd to me. He brought Macario, he could have used her as a wild card, she could have helped the midfield having more depth and freeing Tobin but he never considered the option. It was too wrong.

And beyond everything, it's absolutely not a ONE player's fault. Not Tierna's, certainly not AD's, not Rapinoe's and not Tobin's (definitely not Tobin's), they won together, they lost together.

But after all of this, the thing I can't get over is that THIS TEAM deserved better and despite everything, I'm still damn proud of them. The USWNT taught me a LOT, they showed me another way to love and live football, they showed me how football could actually be a mean and not only an end, they forged women's football more and better than anyone else and I can't stand seeing how all the world was just waiting for them to fall.

Many times I don't agree with Carli Lloyd, I don't share her opinions and I don't like her thoughts. But seeing her today sprinting by herself after the game and sobbing after the end was just heartbreaking because it was like seeing a pillar falling down. Seeing Rapinoe crying and maybe realizing that her and Carli's time is over was unbearable. Seeing Lindsey seeking comfort in Tobin and Christen's arms was just terrible.

USWNT has a new era in front of them, an era that needs to begin with new forces and still some veterans, but an era of change inevitably. But I want this team to be remembered just like the 99ers because what they did for women's football is just as much remarkable and groundbreaking.

Personally I have to admit that I just hope Tobin Heath will play at least for another World Cup, I believe she has it in her but I don't know if she wants to. She isn't scared of retirement but I am. She meant too much.

And in the end, I'm not even American but this team is one of the things I feel most close to me in my life. So today we face the loss, tomorrow we go after the bronze medal and the day after that we start again and we work to show the world who the fucking champions are.

We need to talk about Vlatko…

i get players taking personal responsibility for the loss and being expected to be good enough to adapt to a coach and bring their a game…but i really feel like a lot of this tournament was a huge failure on vlatko’s part to adapt to the team and bring out the best in them and what they were capable of at the time. it’s the coach’s JOB to understand their team and understand how to bring out the best in them and adapt. to understand what their weakness are and to play to their strengths instead. asking an entire team to adapt to your vision and ideas is WAY harder than choosing to step back as a coach and being willing to put your own ego and ideas aside in order to adapt to the team and how the players are actually capable of playing. and i do believe him being so data driven and not allowing players to build chemistry with more consistent line ups again was on HIM and a big reason why players didn’t feel joy.

you don’t create magic and joy out of data and ignoring your team’s capabilities and strengths, or their weaknesses.

is there a fic where lena luthor does this 70 questions by vogue kind of thing but instead of vogue, its catco?

lena's wearing this white flowy dress with a sun hat and theyre walking around this sprawling but warm mansion of a home. and the interview is as boring as it could get, questions like; 'whats ur go to noonan's coffee order?', 'best time to take a nap?' 'have u broken an erlenmeyer flask before?'

BUT BuT at the very end, lena leads the reporter out unto her backyard anD ThEN AND THEN!!!! we get a glimpse of this really ripped woman doing push-ups out on the grass.

and the reporter's like: "IM SORRY MS. LUTHOR, IS- IS THAT- IS THAT KARA DANVERS DOING PUSH-UPS IN UR GARDEN????"

and lena just goes: "why yes. that is kara."

and kara sees them, stands up, walks over with the brightest grin plastered on her face at the sight of lena. and the reporter goes, "MS. DANVERS! WOW. WHAT ARE U DOING HERE??!? I certainly did NOT expect my boss from catco to be here!"

and kara all sweaty and half-naked in a sports bra goes "Brad what're talkin about mister? What do u mean what am I doing here? IN MY HOME? WITH MY WIFE??"

and then kara kisses lena on the lips and u just know the reporter is having a stroke behind the camera.

Lena offers no explanation, already too distracted and thirsty for kara to focus on anything else. She just claps her hands together, says, "well i think we're done for the day, dont u think brad?" and she just dismisses him like nothing. Then all of a sudden lena's getting bridal carried back into the house, and u can hear them talking about dinner plans, "i didnt know ur interview was today. Want me to cook tonight?" unaware that the camera is STILL rolling.

"uh uhm so, that has been lena luthor in 70 questions with catco."

AND THAT, MY FRENS, IS HOW I WANT LENA LUTHOR TO REVEAL HER MARRIAGE TO NONE OTHER THAN CATCO MEDIA EXECUTIVE KARA DANVERS.

I feel like I have to do a recap but I’m so emotional I literally do not have a coherent thought.

But.

US v. Netherlands

ALYSSA FUCKING NAEHER. #1 on the field, #1 in my GOD DAMN HEART. She showed up for us and she played like the best goalkeeper in the world. The control and calm and confidence. She is a treasure.

Rebecca Sauerbrunn and her TACKLES and her HEADERS and her CLASS ACT DEFENDING.

Abigail Bell pepper, I’m not in a negative mood so I will not harp on mistakes. She has been progressively better and I hope she’s kind to herself going into the semi’s.

Crystal Dunn. Out here with the SMOOTHEST tackles I’ve ever seen in my life. Worked her ass off. Saved us defensively and got things going. BIG LOVE TO HER.

Miss Kelley. I knew as soon as she missed the Miedema tackle that the fangs were coming out. She was ruthless, aggressive, and love her or hate her, held her own. (PK aside). And no concussion this time, g’bless.

SAMANTHA MEWIS. I’m sure her subbing was planned. She wasn’t totally out of her funk early on but god dammit, she found her stride. What a MOMENT for her to equalize. I could have cried. She basically KNEELED for a header. Love that Snacks combo. Love that for Sammy Bananas.

JULIE ERTZ. Another savior on a few plays. Idk how she is still going. 120 minutes after 2 full nineties and a 45, fresh off injury. MAAM. Take care of yourself. Keep being a T. rex bulldozer.

LINDSEY HORAN. Her fitness level is there. Whatever she is doing with that gym she always posts about, MORE OF THAT. Even in extra time, Lindsey was the first to track back, there was no let up. She connected with Tobin well and with Pinoe. Her finishing will come. She’s getting herself in the right places. I am staying POSITIVE.

ROSEMARY LAVELLE. Continues with the maximum effort. She is someone that will never give up, she’s going out swinging. No one can question her grit and her tenacity. Her reign of left footed bangers against the Dutch has been put on hold, (in regulation time at least. Her PK was chefs kiss perfect.) Rosie is having herself a tournament(!) and I am so here for all she has to give.

TOBIN. She’s building every game. She tracked back and she was making smarter passes. Tobin magic is still to come, I can feel it.

Carli drew lots of fouls for us and I can take it. She feels someone on her back and takes it PERSONALLY. Put in a good shift for us and allowed us to have a fresher Alex Morgan for the second half and extra time.

LYNN. LYNNIE. What a moment for her. What a STORY. She played with freedom, without pressure, AND SHE DID WHAT WE ALL KNOW SHE CAN DO IF SHE FOCUSES. Her and Sammy have a special connection and what a GAME for them to capitalize on it. Gorgeous assist. GORGEOUS goal.

Alex. My goodness is she so close to the lethal form the world fucking fears. She was making the runs, she had her chances. AND YOU KNOW WHAT?? SHE MADE HER DAMN PK. Rio redemption number one.

Pinoe. Sweet P. She doesn’t have the legs for 120 games. We know this. She knows this. So yeah. Mid-hit things we’re used to her nailing. Set pieces left something to be desired. But she put it all out there. She DID track back. And she did what she does best and she BURIED her PK. She’s a magical human.

AND THEN CHRISTEN. Thank god for meditation. I would have stolen that offsides flag and launched it to the moon. She’s itching for goals. And it’s always just INCHES. She’s a step back, and shit, watch the fuck out. And I know I’m probably not as proud as Tobin or as relieved as she was for herself. BUT THAT PK. That PK. CHRISTEN PRESS STAYED CALM AND PUT THAT BITch away.

Sorry to the Netherlands, you hate to see them cry. (I mean, I wanted them to lose but I’m not a monster.) Viv had a crazy tournament, but BYE. See y’all next time!

post game opinions

- first off i want to start by saying how we played today was clearly influenced heavily by vlatko’s bad tactics. i truly don’t think this team would ever willingly play like that it’s just not in their blood. was it smart? maybe. but i don’t think it’s what we needed going forward. it wouldn’t be fair of anyone to blame the players for the play today when they were just doing what their coach told them.

- starting off defensively i actually think they were pretty solid for the most part. there were a few badly aimed long balls, but we didn’t have many risky errors back there at all really so that counts for something.

- midfield was almost silent today and i do partly blame that on rose basically playing as a striker despite not needing to; i’d bet that ones on vlakto. when they did have the ball there it was a lot of sloppy passes mixed with unecessary errors. i guess that’s what happens when you put a damper on their spirit. (yes i’m being passive aggressive towards vlakto)

- our strikers were quiet up too today as well with only a fee good chances on goal and some selfish play; i will not be specifying who because i don’t want to shade any certain players. i will stand by the fact i think alex’s goal should’ve 100% counted.

- moving forward i’d like to see them press the ball much more, work on upping the chemistry in the midfield area, getting into position for finishing, and crossing.

He is literally driving the best team in the world into the fucking ground

If I were a USWNT player, I’d be pissed and feel so disrespected and belittled. The coach saying the game plan was to settle for a draw? And to even admit that is embarrassing.

Like you’re the number one team in the world and you’re telling these players to settle for a draw? That’s just not it dude. I really can’t see you being around here long if that’s how it’s gonna be.

If it’s a great game and you lose, I wouldn’t be happy, but anything is better than this shit show waste of my time.

The most uninspired, boring, unorganized USWNT game I have seen in the last five years I’ve watched the team. These last three games have been a disaster, and I think it mostly falls on Vlatko. A disorganized defense, a weak and cautious offense. There is no confidence in this team and they are being told to play things too safe, creating holes in every position and taking away opportunities for great plays because of potential risk. This was never the attitude of the USWNT until Vlatko became the coach. He is afraid of losing and that’s proven by how willing he was to draw. His attitude is affecting our players in a massive way.

Pinoe: So, what’s it like dating Christen?

Tobin: One time, I asked her for water while she was pissed at me and she brought me a glass full of ice and told me to wait.

Tobin: I love her.

Thank you Vlatko for personally making sure that anyone with Jill Ellis trauma is now once again freaking out for no reason.
