Okay, so Stan’s toffee peanuts, right?
The candy that’s now associated with a majorly traumatic event. Do we think Stan despises them now? Because if I were to have a candy associated with a traumatic event I would never go anywhere near that candy ever again. Do we think that he has like a physical reaction or something when he sees them? Imagine Mabel or Soos or someone brings that specific candy home and he freaks out (obviously he wouldn’t really freak out freak out, but yk what I mean).
Do we think Ford associates Stan with the smell of toffee peanuts? I mean, that was like the last thing he smelled before Stan was kicked out.
Just an interesting thought or something, idk. I’m half asleep so apologies if this doesn’t make sense.
Prompt;
In the episode Gideon rises, when everything goes wrong. The twins are going to go home, Soos and Wendy are out of work, and Stan is losing the only people that care about him, and the chance to get his brother back.
Tw; suicidal thoughts and plans under the cut.
Stan’s in shambles. He’s lost the only people that make his stupid life worth living. He’s back to being homeless. He’s old, he doesn’t think he can go through that again. So, he plans on ending it all once the twins get on the bus to go back home. The night he plans on doing it, unfortunately, his plans get cut short when Bill shows up.

Yada, yada, you guys do the rest. Anyway, it’s just an idea if any of you want it!
This miiiiight be a stretch, but. Hear me out.
In the Gravity Falls episode, Headhunters, when Grunkle Stan hosts a funeral for his wax figure, he’s mourning his brother, whom he didn’t think he would get back from the portal, but he’ll be damned if he stops trying. But he’s also mourning himself, and who he used to be. Think about it, he had to fake his own death and pretend to be Ford, only his mother, ‘Ford’(himself), and an FBI agent came to his funeral. No one else cared enough to come. So now, he has people who actually care about him. Hell, Mabel and Dipper went to avenge his wax figure, and he was so happy that they cared enough to do that. He actually has people who care about him, so he wants to see if they’d come to his funeral. He’s mourning his brother, but also who he used to be, and he has people to mourn with him now. He has a family.
Idk if any of that came out correctly, but y’all know what I’m getting at.
STANLEY PINES IS NOT DUMB. Stanley. Pines. Is. NOT. Dumb.
Listen to me; during the portal era, after Ford had been pushed in, Stanley fixed it. By himself. He had 1. ONE. Journal almost the entire time he was working on it. He didn’t know how to decipher the messages, he didn’t know about the blacklight messages. He had to learn insanely advanced and difficult math by TEACHING HIMSELF. He had to learn such advanced mathematics and other things by himself. Keep in mind, he cheated off of Ford in school. He was without the other two journals for thirty years. He rebuilt the portal by himself, with one journal, and no other knowledge on how to build it. He taught himself everything. He had it mostly finished before he got the two other journals. He is a fucking genius and no one can tell me otherwise.

big fan of that face the twins make. they just look so distraught
also fiddlestan cause they make me insane
i so desperately yearn for an episode of gravity falls where stan and ford just get to talk. it feels like there was so little development between them, and ford not getting a chance to breathe before immediately being thrust into weirdmaggedon just makes his character seem rushed. he seriously needed a few more episodes to be fleshed out. not his character, exactly, but rather his interactions w other characters, specifically stan and mabel. i think they did an incredible job characterizing him but its so hard to appreciate that when the character who is literally the most closely intertwined with his story barely gets to interact with him at all.
it didnt even have to be much, just a small interaction to show them growing closer, or even to show that theyve grown so far apart that theyre not even in the same world anymore. something that would make the final scene with stan getting blasted with the memory gun seem genuine and meaningful. not that it wasnt, but it wouldve been so much more impactful if we’d gotten to see that ford loves stan as much as we’ve seen how much stan loves ford.
another issue i have is fords “redemption” at the end, where he tells stan to sail the world with him. again, it just feels a little.. shoehorned in there i guess? like, it doesnt feel “earned” exactly, more like the writers just decided that it was time for ford to make it up to stan and thats the only reason it happened. again, a few extra heartfelt scenes between them wouldve solved this problem. i just hate that it seems like ford never confronts the unjustified anger he had towards stan. it wouldve maybe even been justified if he was mad about stan pushing him into the portal, but being mad about the PROJECT from THIRTY YEARS AGO is insane hes truly playing the long game of grudges like brother you literally lived the most fullfilling life you couldve(prior to getting pushed into another dimension for 30 years… through his own invention…) in SPITE of what stan did like i just think maybe now that youve had time to think it over we can all be adults about this… sigh….
alright i need to write a fic where ford apologizes to stan and they hug or something idgaf

Its been a few weeks since Bill's release from the Theraprism. Everyone else seems to have readjusted to having him back, apart from the one person that missed him the most. Ford doesn't seem to be able to wrap his head around the other's existence. Something that his brother can't seem to puzzle out, even with the help of Bill. Until they both push a little too far. Will these toxic old men finally have a happy ending?
