having a favorite character who originally came from a gacha game sucks sooooo bad bcuz even though i look at them and im like “oooohhh you’re so precious” or “oooohhh you’re so insane i desperately need to study every bit of you like a bug”, at the same time im also horrifically aware that this is all just one carefully constructed piece of the twisted capitalistic model of gacha games. giving these overdesigned anime pngs/3d models as much fun charming personality and deep interesting backstory as possible so you and many others get deeply uncontrollably attached to them, which in turn acts as a huge drive to get you into grinding and rolling for these characters, wasting huge amounts of time and/or money all just to obtain your waifu/husbando/comfort scrunkly blorbo scrimblo of choice.

It feels so fucking evil, using the natural response of getting attached to fictional characters for such capitalistic gain. Planting the seeds for fandoms to grow all just to make them eternal customers of your product. This shit’s nearly ruined my life, even without spending money i still spent so much precious time progressing in the game yet never progressing anywhere in real life, and yet still the one character i simp for the most is from fucking genshin impact.

why waste 20 bucks on a ten pull when you could waste 20 bucks on an obscure indie game on steam that will permanently influence and change the perception and trajectory of your life forever
