I have one job, and its a pretty simple job: I come in in the morning, and we look at the news, and I write jokes about it.  And then I make a couple of faces, and like a noise, and then it’s just ch-ching, and I’’m out the door. But I didn’t do my job today, so I apologize. I got nothing for you in terms of jokes and sounds, because of what happened in South Carolina.  And maybe if I wasn’t nearing the end of the run, or this wasn’t such a common occurrence, maybe I could’ve pulled out of the spiral, but I didn’t.   And so I honestly have nothing.  Other than just sadness, once again, that we have to peer into the abyss that we do to each other, and the nexus of a gaping racial wound that will not heal, and that we pretend doesn’t exist. I’m confident, though, that by acknowledging it, by staring into that and seeing it for what it is… we still won’t do jack shit. Yeah.  That’s us. And that’s the part that blows my mind.  I don’t wanna get into the political argument of guns, and things – what blows my mind is the disparity of response between when we think people who are foreign are going to kill us, and us killing ourselves. If this had been what we thought was Islamic terrorism, it would have fit into our – we invaded two countries!  And spent trillions of dollars, and thousands of American lives, and now fly unmanned death machines over like five or six different countries.  All to ‘keep Americans safe’!  'We gotta do whatever we can!  We’ll torture people!  We gotta do whatever we can to keep Americans safe!’ Nine people.  Shot in a church.  What about that?  'Hey, what can we do?  Craziness is craziness, right?’ That’s the part that I cannot, for the life of me, wrap my head around.  And you know it.  You know that it’s going to go down the same path.  'This is a terrible tragedy.’  They’re already using the nuanced language of lack of effort for this. This is a terrorist attack.  This is a violent attack on the Emanuel Church in South Carolina, which is a symbol for the black community.  It has stood in that part of Charleston for a hundred and some years, and has been attacked viciously many times, as many black churches have. And to pretend that, I heard someone on the news say ‘tragedy has visited this church.’  This wasn’t a tornado.  This was a racist.  This was a guy with a Rhodesia badge on his sweater. I hate to even use this pun, but this one was black and white.  There’s no nuance here.  And we’re going to keep pretending like, ‘I don’t get it!  What happened?  This one guy lost his mind!’  But we are steeped in that culture in this country, and we refuse to recognize it, and I can’t believe how hard people are working to discount it. In South Carolina, the roads that black people drive on are named for Confederate generals who fought to keep black people from being to drive freely on that road. That’s insanity.  That’s racial wallpaper.  You can’t allow that.  Nine people were shot in a black church by a white guy who hated them, who wanted to start some kind of civil war. The Confederate flag flies over South Carolina. And the roads are named for Confederate generals. And the white guy is the one who feels like his country is being taken over. We’re bringing it on ourselves. And that’s the thing: al Qaeda?  ISIS?  They’re not shit compared to the damage that we can apparently do to ourselves on a regular basis.

When you try and turn #BlackLivesMatter into All Lives Matter, what you’re saying is “I don’t feel included.” You’re saying “I don’t feel like a part of the conversation.” Here’s the thing, though. White people aren’t a part of the movement, because the movement is about the oppression involved in institutional racism, and that’s something white people have never experienced. Plain and simple. It isn’t including you because it isn’t about you.

Thank you myannoyances for laying the smack down on my Facebook when one of my elementary school teachers continued to argue #AllLivesMatter and then started with the “black on black crime” bullshit. By that point I was too angry to even respond.  (via chescaleigh)

Replies to this post regarding Hogwarts Legacy

This is one of the most bad faith takes I've seen on this, and I've seen some pretty bad ones.

I'm not going to argue on this. I mean, that whole post is about how there really is no more arguing to be done here, you either value people's lives or you value personal entertainment. You've gone for the latter. You just don't want to admit it so you spew out this garbage to justify it to yourself.

If you want to play the game, just play the stupid game. It's not like anyone is going to physically stop you. But for goodness sake, shut up about it. You're all just making yourselves look even worse.

BTW your transmedicalism and antisemitism are showing. Thought you might want to know

I wonder what's next from streamers like the one I talked about in this post

A live reading of The Turner Diaries to raise money for the Holocaust Museum?

Or Elliot Rodger's manifesto with the promise to give some money to a DV shelter?

Oooh, what about a shot-for-shot remake of Birth of a Nation and donate to a Black charity?

After all, according to them, any amount of bigotry is canceled out by money.

Hogwarts Legacy is really bringing out all the fair-weather allies, ain't it? All the people who will totally say that they support the trans community, that they're willing to fight antisemitism, and talk about how important it is for the non-marginalized to stand up for the marginalized.

But ask them to not buy one single game out of the hundreds that will be released this year? Then it's all "you can't tell me what to do; you're never satisfied with anything; this is why people don't support you; buying the game doesn't support rowling at all; no ethical consumption under capitalism"

Like, thanks I guess for letting us know that you don't actually care about marginalized people. Now we know who actually gave a shit and wanted to help and who just wanted a new space to dominate

If the Ancient Aliens/Ancient Astronauts theory is true, then aliens must really hate white people

Because of all this political bullshit going on I haven’t had the chance to check out the snk spoilers (not that I want to 😬), the new season of the promised neverland, or the new season of beastars.

“Well John, if they are not going to make a distinction between Muslims and violent extremists, why should I take the time to distinguish between decent fearful white people and racists?”

Aasif Mandvi on The Daily Show (via nezua)

you really CAN. NOT. argue with that.

It definitely shouldn’t escape anyone’s notice that the majority of “transandrophobia isn’t real and tme/tma language is good actually” people are white. Like there is very much something to be said about a complete lack of awareness of non-white queer people existing, whether they acknowledge it or not. I know full well that everyone posting “trans men are just whiny little uwu soft babies complaining about nothing” are imagining a monolith of trans men/mascs who are all white and will not acknowledge the intersections of oppression that trans moc face. “All trans men have power over cis and trans women” even when the women in question are white. When asked about transphobia facing trans poc, they will mention maybe one or two black trans women they’re able to name to make themselves look like they care about black issues and never mention a single other trans person of colour. Quick, average white tumblr user, name a single black trans man. Name a single black trans male or non-binary artist right now.

white t girl i love you. and also do not forget that you are not the modern martyr for the oppressed voice. that's still black girls. it's always been black girls. stories of black martyrdom simply don't make it into the news cycle until the unrest caused by its reporting can be packaged as a "riot" segment between traffic reports. i know you suffer, but whatever you're experiencing, i beg you, when interacting with your community and building nuanced understandings of each other and the system which binds us, to not forget that a black tgirl has felt it 100 times worse before positioning yourself as an authority on all systems of oppression for having suffered unjustly at all. because you have suffered unjustly, but suffering unjustly as a white person means something so much different.

alright im starting to just flat out not trust people who arent trans men/mascs that refer to trans MEN as "tboys" and/or "trans boys"

every time i see that shit its usually tied to some really shitty statement in the same exact fucking post

i might have to start collecting screenshots from now on of what im talking about to demonstrate my point later

but anyway, heres a not so friendly reminder: stop infantilizing us by calling us "boys". its trans MEN or trans GUYS or trans DUDES. you should not be calling anyone a trans boy unless you are familiar with them and they are comfortable with that. because a lot of us fucking arent.

black trans/nonbinary people and other trans/nonbinary people of color are disproportionately targeted which means we should be listening to them first and foremost

and that means the words coined by trans/nonbinary people of color should be respected

ESPECIALLY the term transandrophobia

let them speak.

saying ‘trans men aren’t oppressed for being black because black men aren’t oppressed for being men’ is definitely a choice because if you for once in your life tried to crawl out of your stupid echo chamber to learn anything about any of the groups your referencing you’d know that black men are oppressed for being BLACK MEN. do people cross the streets when they see black women at night? do people automatically assume all black women are part of a gang? do black women suffer false rape accusations at the same rate as black men? do people come up to black women talking about how they’re huge fans of bbc? no. because black men suffer an oppression that is exclusive to their sex just as it is to their race. but of course you think black men aren’t oppressed for being men so that’s why you can say the same stupid shit about trans men

White people saying "Don't you dare call me a racist" is so ridiculous.

If you're called out, there's little chance you are innocent. Ask what you did wrong. That's how you grow. Don't get all defensive and don't go hiding in your shell. People of color know better than you if you're being racist, simply because they're the ones who experience it.

Btw I'm white, that's just me getting annoyed at such people

When y’all talk about the AIDS epidemic and Reagan, please do not leave out black people. Like for real, there’s several popular posts that circulate around this site about the epidemic in the 80’s and none of them mention black people at all, which is really upsetting to me. Black communities were ravaged by aids in the 80’s just like gay communities were. They suffered along side each other. While Reagan celebrated the deaths of gay people, he was also celebrating the deaths of black people. AIDS was killing off the “welfare queens” that Reagan and other republicans were constantly harping on about. AIDS killing black people meant less dependency on the social programs that they loathed and wanted to get rid of. It was another thing that helped them keep us from gaining power while the CIA brought crack into our communities to weaken us. And till this day, black people are contracting HIV and AIDS at the highest rates.

Please stop leaving out black people when talking about AIDS and Reagan’s response to it.

Content: just me ranting about politics and how people have been brainwashed to fight against eachother instead of for.

On tiktok watching storytimes of this black woman and her heartbreaking stiry of having to fight against the economy and abuse to get better in life. See a video about her and talking to joe biden and was like "dude no way, she has to be for" nope. She's talking about how immigrants get free handouts just for being here while she busted her ass off and like.. i know its hard but holy shit dude. Its like, you went through all that and went "Yeah, yeah, i want THEM to feel that pain." ??? Also she was saying how she worked hard to buy a food truck and now hes buying it with handouts despite not having anything and like... lady.. why do yoy think hes buying your food truck. To just have it? He's going to work. Also saying that he just gets free handouts is so fucked because he came to this country unfortunate enough to qualify for those "handouts" and is clearky trying to work hard and shes just bashing him and saying how she cant get loans despite her good credit because of the color of her skin and it just sucks so much because mexicans and black people have been through so much similar shit and have been fighting together for a long time and theyve somehow managed to convince us to fight against eachother instead of with. It sucks sm. Like i get you feel wronged but like imagine your ancestor is pissed at YOU because you get the opportunity to work for money while they were slaves having to work for nothing. Work together!!! This whole race thing is so shit! Seeing black people harass mexicans telling them to get out of their country when this was their and the natives' land at first, saying its their fault POC get a bad rep. Mexicans blaming blacks and other race immigrant for being lazy/criminals and its their fault POC get a bad rep and its like how is this happening bro. Blacks don't get opportunities thats why they turn to crime and get "aggressive". Mexicans work hard because they've been forced to work unreasonably hard ever since they came into existence. Propaganda is so scary. They really tore us apart. This isn't even mentioning all the natives being ignored either since they're considered too "in the past" to care about or asians whos kinda been pushed to the side just because they maybe don't get as much open hate. Like i hate this shi bruh 😭.

Here's Another Poem I wrote

This is one of the two poems that I wrote this year for a black history assembly at my school.

Blind

Can’t see it.

Can’t feel it.

Can’t recognize it.

You’re blind.

You turn away from the struggle of others.

You won’t hear about the injustice.

You pretend it’s all in the past.

You’re blind.

Don’t act like isn’t here.

Don’t act like it isn’t there.

Don’t make-believe it's all gone away.

Don’t look away from all the pain.

Your guilt is telling you to turn away.

Your fear is making you hateful.

Your hate is turning you violent.

Your ignorance has made you blind.

reminder that the "taiwanese independence movement" (with 🇳🇫 emoji) is a nazist group that invent the myth of a "singular taiwanese ethnicity" much like hitler's idea of aryan people and advocate for an ethnostate

there's no "taiwanese ethnicity", even if you take only indigenous populations, they are not one and the same thing (theyre classified into various tribes for a reason) -- and the autonomy of indigenous people of taiwan is very solvable without the nazi mvmt

the KMT atrocities are very solvable without the nazi mvmt

pretty much all social issues the cult is "aiming to solve" by estabilishing a nazi ethnostate are solvable without it.

and let's not forget they are more xenophobic/racist and homophobic on average than like many other political groups in taiwan while also claiming to be progressive.

repeat after me: taiwan independence advocates are nazis (much like their red neighbors in beijing)

"east europeans didnt experience oppression and discrimination, theyre white" what a way to say you're an ignorant amerimutt who only sees POC as marginalized, sarah

because if you'd bother to look beyond your yard you'd see a lot of anti-immigrant rhetoric in the west is targeted at e-euros too

if you'd bother to use your fucking brain for a mo you'd realize that a lot of leftists love glorifying the soviet union dismissing any harm they done to east europe, claiming those against the red boot are "fascists" and "reactionaries"

but i guess go on and continue thinking it's only about america being a bitch towards those with nonwhite skin color 🙄

The asexual community's antiblackness is so heavily tied towards ignorance about Black sexuality in music. There's some viral post on here of predominantly non-Black aces being upset that 'match my freak' is about sex and upset about 'how allos sexualise everything' 'allos are obsessed with their sex lives' 'why does everything have to be about sex' 'why are the allos making it about sex again' when the allos in question are BLACK MUSICIANS expressing sexuality freely in their own music. The way you lot talk about Black people ace or not is just horrid.

Tinashe's song Nasty helped popularise 'Match My Freak' last year. R&B literally stands for rhythm and blues. Black singers have always sung about romantic and sexual yearning in R&B. Going back to slavery, Black people's sexualities have always been stigmatised and demonised as an animalistic, insatiable hunger. Through music, Black artists especially Black American artists would express sexual attraction on their own terms to push back on those myths. The Black "allos" never stole Match My Freak from you because it was never yours to begin with.

Antiblackness in the ace community manifests in this narrative of Black people 1. As thieves and 2. That we force sex onto things and people. But also 3. Through colonialist attitudes and mindsets.

'We should asexualise it' 'Allos shouldn't hoard it' 'Well it can mean both!' 'Words evolve its linguistic change!' Pardon my French, but fuck off.

The gag is, there's already loads of phrases in AAVE for platonic relationships. 'Match my energy' 'homie' 'twin' literally hold the same meaning. (But seeing how ignorant some of you are I think you should leave AAVE tf alone actually). I briefly covered this another post on main but the (white) ace community feels the need to have ace versions of existing things e.g. 'How comes there's no asexual___' 'We need an asexual__' 'We need an ace ___!' instead of creating something original. Hence the invading Denmark 'jokes'. Some of you don't know how to create things. And honestly, I think some of you don't want to create. I think some of you like complaining about the lack ace representation instead of making it. I think some of you like to 'asexualise' things from marginalised forms of sexual attraction because you look down on them. I think some of you like being complacent.

So, this whole narrative Tinashe took a pure uwu platonic ace phrase with her lightskin fingers and made it all about sex is complete nonsense. It's one thing to consistently demonise Black sexuality but to take from it and then claim Black people have sexualised something that was originally ours is just foul.

Note To Society #29

Taking part in protests, yet continuing to do/say racist things does not make you an activist, it makes you a douchebag who takes advantage of the horrible injustices faced by minorities in this country for popularity/respect.

Note To Society #27

Racism absolutely exists, and there are thousands of articles and videos out there that prove it. Before arguing that a minority (especially one you aren’t a part of) doesn’t suffer from discrimination and oppression, do your research and educate yourself. Just because you don’t experience it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.

Note To Society #25

Don’t judge a group by individuals in it. Hating entire group simply because a of a few select members is NOT a wise way to go about life. If one person makes a mistake, they deserve the consequences, not the entire group. For example, not all Christians are homophobic. Sure, there are a lot of homophobic Christians, but they shouldn’t all be judged by their religion as a whole. Similar situation when it comes to racism. There are a LOT of racist Caucasian people, but not all of them are. Just like, though there are some African American criminals, the innocent don’t deserve to be incarcerated simply due to ignorance. However, certain groups cannot be looked at with this rule, such as Nazis or pedophiles. But, for the general public, the point still stands.
