sherlock gnomes AU (mine)
oh my god. this gets even better if you put in the idea that sherlock and watson know about this, because that means that they'd have to distinguish which moriarty is the bad one.
like, for example, if our moriarty impersonated a different one of himself. like, would sherlock and watson be able to tell? i mean, he has a pretty distinct personality, but in the scene where watson is explaining moriarty to juliet, he seems to be good at acting as innocent. i'd like to imagine he frequently tries to impersonate other versions of himself and just like, fails horribly.
imagine sherlock being like "yeah ok sworn destroyer of london's garden gnomes. we know it's you" and moriarty being so pissed every time
How often do you think Moriarty gets sent off for repairs? Like- plastic is definitely WAY more durable than like. Ceramic. But it's definitely still breakable. I mean, he lost a piece of his head in the film. How long has he been fighting Sherlock? Has he received any minor damage before?
I still very much think this was his closest brush with death, but I definitely wouldn't be surprised if he'd damaged an arm or a leg in their scuffles before. Especially since broken ceramic can very easily pierce plastic.
So do the folks at Moriarty's Pies just sit there like- "Oh for crying out loud what happened to the statue this time???" cause they all got to work in the morning and just found Moriarty randomly missing an arm?? Without context??? And then the SECOND he gets back from repairs, since plastic is easy to mend, do they have to send him off to get fixed again in the next 24 hours because he's a little menace who can't sit still to save his life? Because that's hilarious.
Better question, imagine if there was more than one van. Wouldn't that mean more Moriarty's? Would they all have the same personality or no? I wouldn't think so. Watson does state that OUR Moriarty was made... wrong. Sometimes making ornaments goes wrong, and we get evil ornaments as a result. Plus, Moriarty's actual personality itself outside of the murder does seem very different from the character he represents. Moriarty the character appears to be very innocent and sweet, while Moriarty the statue is... well, the complete opposite.
So would each one have a different personality? If ornaments weren't tethered to the personality of whoever they represent? Would there just be like 50 Moriarty's and all of them are chill except this ONE?
"Oh yeah that's number 43. He's a bit of a douche, we kinda just leave him out of things. It gets awkward when he's around, he never stops talking about murder :/"
Would that also mean they have different disorders? Or would all of them be extremely obviously ADHD and/or bipolar in varying levels?
Even better question. Would that mean they'd also have different sexualities- would there be like- one token straight Moriarty who everyone refers to as Mike to avoid confusion-- I'm getting carried away. I don't actually think there would be more than one considering we see the van in the background several times, but he's never on top because. Y'know. The pretending to be dead thing. If that wasn't the only van in the city, there's bound to be a different statue in at least one background shot.
Still absolutely hilarious to think about though.
hellooooooooooo divas. i have a rant about lou because nobody is talking about him. :(
so, he's very dramatic and his main goal is keeping up appearances for the crowd. that's his whole thing. he says multiple times that being pretty is everything, meaning to him, his appearance, both physically and publicly, is the most important.
but by the end of the movie, he's been stripped of both.
you can see the difference here between when he's putting up an act (left) and when he's actually showing strong emotion (right). for a movie that's admittedly not the best quality, he's a very well written villian.
you can tell that his friendship with ox wasn't fake, despite his betrayal.
he used to be kind and caring, though still with flaws. the only reason he turned on ox is because he knew that even though they were close, ox would get to leave and lou wouldn't. i think it was a mix of feelings.
jealousy, because lou couldn't go to the big world and ox could. betrayal, because ox would be leaving him. loneliness, which is pretty obvious.
i mean, being lonely is a classic villian backstory. but his is good because it's not just like: "well he wasn't good at making friends :(" it's literally "he couldn't keep friends".
i think a huge reason that lou values his public appearance is because it's all he's got left. it's the only time that people valued him. eventually popularity got to his head, so he's vain.
i've seen some people argue that the reason he makes his lessons so hard is because he'll miss the dolls. but honestly, i think he's just jealous that they get to go to the big world. which though cruel, is kind of justified.
i mean, look at this shot. it's probably my favorite in the whole movie. he's living his worst fear in this moment. he's lost his popularity, he's lost the game. and the uglydolls passed. everything he's been shown to care about has been taken, and this shot encapsulates it PERFECTLY.
(and it makes me very sad. i could watch the titanic with a straight face but unfortunately i'd watch this and then bawl for like thirty minutes. i don't wanna talk about it.)
anyway, i'll stop ranting. gooodnighht everyone.
made this and laughed so hard that i got turned into an orphan πππ
ok i have a rant. WHY are they so similar????
similar eyebrows, ears, and mouths.
i mean look.
similar facial expressions. the performance sort of way they both move. both like to sing.
they've both tried to kill their enemies (though lou's reasons are definitely more valid than moriarty's).
both have henchmen kinda.
moriarty's workers (sort of) are reggie and ronnie.
lou's workers are tuesday, lydia and kitty.
they both get soaked at the end of the movie? moriarty falls into the ocean, lou gets thrown in the washing machine.
what is happening.
i have a weird affection for villains in kids movies that don't get enough screen time. i don't wanna talk about it
alrighty we're starting a night of no sleep off with stuff i like about sherlock gnomessssss!!!!! *sigh*
we're starting off this post with moriarty. i feel like he has a pretty deep character for how bad the movie is. like.. on one hand, he's evil. he wants to crush all the gnomes, get rid of sherlock, yadda yadda.
on the other hand, he doesn't seem rude to everyone. especially ronnie and reggie- i mean sure he bosses them around, but the trio does act like friends in some scenes. in the screenshare scene, i believe ronnie helps him do it, the three peering down at the screen. he's not cruel to either of the two, which i feel like you could expect him to be cruel if he had "henchmen" given his overall moral code.
so like.. the pie has two sides. i guess. I'M NOT TRYING TO EXCUSE HIS ACTIONS TRUST. but like.. idk. i think that i'd like to see a spinoff of what moriarty, ronnie, and reggie were doing in the time that sherlock and the gang were looking for clues.
and he's clearly not the cruel, dark moody type of evil. that doesn't really need to be clerified, obviously. he's meant to be a kind of giggly-insane type of villian. but like.. IFFFF he had a moral code, where do you think that line would be? he clearly doesn't have much problem smashing gnomes, but then again, he's never shown interacting with ANY of them besides sherlock, watson, and gnomeo. (does he talk to juliet?? i don't think he does but idk.)
another thing. imagine how great it would've been if moriarty crashed the spring festival thing in the garden at the end. just a thought.
haha another night of no sleep coming right up
decided to redo my human design of moriarty!! still needs some work, he looks pretty young in this version so i think i need to try and make him look like more of an adult. decided that a tooth gap would be fitting (and kind of cute), but his hair is my favorite. any suggestions?
this is an interesting idea. gnomes are usually together, gargoyles come in pairs, even the dolls are together in the dollhouse. i think he was sort of made to be evil in the first place, so he never started off good. however i do wonder how he'd react to a little affection. just a thought.
I wonder if the reason Moriarty is so desperate and needy when it comes to attention is because he's lonely by design. Most people around him has company. The gnomes have their own communities in gardens, the toys have each other, even the gargoyles are housed with other gargoyles. But he sits alone on a van. He doesn't get the privilege of resting in a pretty lawn, or on a building with a great view. He just sits by himself on top of a van with nothing but his phone.
I don't think his isolation is the reason he's a killer. Sherlock himself said that "some are just manufactured evil". Moriarty was never going to be a good person, even if he was just another garden decoration. But the loneliness probably didn't help, and just ended up being a contribution to his attention seeking. There's a reason he's so obsessed with Sherlock; the guy gives him a TON of attention and never stops thinking about him, even if that comes from hate rather than care. Attention is attention, it doesn't matter where it comes from. Sherlock himself even calls Moriarty out on it, saying "you're very needy for a villain".
I'm not trying to invent a traumatic backstory that will excuse people justifying him, I love this little gay pie but he is NOT a good guy and I don't think he should be treated as such ascskfhjkl
i love this diva. tried a new style for it idk
OH MY GOD I KNOW RIGHT. i love him too much for my own good it's not ok. they weren't even subtle with it they just like- the rainbow sunglasses, rainbow text in the video he made, "come dance with me" NOT SUBTLE AT ALL and i love it
Do y'all ever hyperfixate on something cringey and bad, and know it's cringey and bad, and feel genuine physical pain from the anxiety of simply considering looking it up to see if there's a fandom?
I'm not scared of being judged hahaha what do you mean
doodle because this fandom dead as hell
i made these
probably gonna make more characters, watson next then maybe irene, the gargoyles, or (UGHHHHH) gnomeo and juliet
LMAO moriarty is at fangirl level obsession
How did forget about this!
On the tree in front of the Natural History Museum, Sherlock listens to Offenbach's 'Barcarolle' (from 'The Tales of Hoffmann') in his head. Important note that this piece is mentioned in the Canon in The Adventure of the Mazarin Stone!
Extra fun note here that Moriarty then sings it to Sherlock on Tower Bridge! Of course, I have many questions, but it's certainly a neat touch.
Draw Moriarty and Sherlock kissing as lego figures. yeah π
your wish is my command
uhhhh i got sidetracked
STILL TAKING SHERLOCK GNOMES REQUESTS
more art!!! i love these guys so much i can't even explain it
yes
made this because i was sad and needed warm fansrt so i made it myself π
(note, this isn't mori manipulating watson, he's just really bored and jumped at the chance to shit talk sherlock)
little drawing i did. NOT A SHIP.
heres an art server for sherlock gnomes (YOU CAN SRAW GNOMEO AND JULIET, TOO, OR EVEN JUSR SHERLOCK HOLMES)
Draw moriarty stuck in a hole in the wall, not weird but like a fat cat stuck in a hole
look at these divas (i spent two hours making a cardboard cutout of him)
some chibi stuff idk
hey!!! ended up losing some motivation, but i really like this au!
I'm throwing in some humanized SG lore because I can't sleep..
Moriarty: 37
a sugar daddy??? The owner of a large chain of bakery factories with very controversial methods for eliminating competitors.
He has a weakness for sweets. An inflated self-image, and a very fiery temperament.
Although he constantly pretends to be an innocent bun (and he manages to pull it off). Also he wears kitty socks, because why not
Sherlock: 40
He works as a consulting detective for the police. In his free time, he plays the violin in a London orchestra (Moriarty is a frequent visitor at his concerts). He prefers to work alone because he thinks other people will only slow down the investigation (at this point, he hasnβt met Watson yet).
My idea is that in this AU, Moriarty would be the owner of a pie factory chain, while in his spare time, he engages in mafia dealings or something like that. He eliminates competitors and sets up other companies. One day, after kidnapping one of his former business partners, he makes a mistake and allows the police to catch his trail. Sherlock gets involved in the investigation, trying to find evidence of Moriarty's wrongdoing and illegal business practices. Anyway, the gist is that these two meet and try to outmaneuver each other in the βgameβ. Moriarty uses charm, manipulation, and money (why not again?), while Sherlock relies on cold-bloodedness, and intellect.
And BONUS! Moriarty trying to rizz up Sherlock (heβs now traumatized)
