The Tour is now a concentration camp where anyone who objects is killed or threatened

Ollie teaches the other toys about things like racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia etc and they’re all horrified because these toys have never seen those concepts before (at least, not that they’re aware of)

Dogday makes friends with Infox, who is @thattiredgamer’s OC; Kather, who is @i-am-in-the-mind-fuck’s OC, and SourTail, who is @bazyboo13’s OC

Possibly a snippet or mention of the cult. You’re not meant to know Destroy-A-Toy’s being ruled by the kitty queen, but for those already in the know it would be great foreshadowing!

Here’s my idea. The Nightmare Critters represent how the world outside has changed, and how Dogday struggles to cope with change as a whole. Both sets of Critters are forced into a train ride together and DO NOT get along.

I’ll wait for all eight to be revealed, but so far, my plan is that Simon, Rabie and Poe would act as the boss’s spies. ESPECIALLY Rabie. She’s why the boss knows everything about everyone, plus the boss’s own investigations.

So either, they’re just another toy type who gets prosecuted or they play a SIGNIFICANT role.

The plot of DAT is toys who rebel are bad and killed, and they don’t get rights. Which is funny because the holder of the event is openly non-binary and forced their way into that position for the sole purpose of getting the toys rights.

How Toys Work (Smaller Bodies Initiative)

Note: this is mostly for friends in my Discord server who haven't read the series, but it can be to anyone interested! :)

In my AU, there are TWO TYPES of toys: Smaller Bodies and Bigger Bodies.

SMALLER BODIES are under five feet tall.

BIGGER BODIES are five feet or over.

The reason the story's called the Smaller Bodies Initiative is because, in the canon, all living toys are grouped into the "Bigger Body" category... I think. There are other living toys who are small but they're never explained. For me, those are my Smaller Bodies.

Here are some base facts that apply to EVERY TOY, regardless of their initiative:

Toys are created by dissecting a living creature and rewiring the body parts into a different body, thus reanimating it. This is possible because the Innovation Department disregards ethics and therefore makes staggering scientific progress without the burden of moral rules.

Toys can be made from multiple people if body parts are insufficient.

Toys do not remember their past lives. They do not inherently know their names or anything they've done previously. They often believe their first life is their toy life.

Toys are often disabled because the reconstruction process is complicated and improbable.

Due to being raised within the factory, toys are unaware that their surroundings and circumstances are extremely alarming.

Toys' point of view is confined to what they've been told. Outside information is restricted, similar to a concentration camp or dictatorial society.

Toy memories can be triggered if unconsciously reminded of something significant in their life, or by imperceptibly responding to their real name without understanding why. Toys are unaware of the true reason for this and it has been brushed aside as another mental condition resulting from their construction process.

There is only ONE TOY who breaks these rules. That's Ollie, and that's because Ollie was manufactured by modifying an existing body instead of taking apart and piecing together a new one.

Every other toy abides by these!

Poppy Playtime’s Lore (Smaller Bodies)

Not all of this has been said in Smaller Bodies but I’ll elaborate in Destroy-A-Toy. For now, here’s a post both for my own reference and for anyone keeping up with the AU!

First off, Poppy’s real name is Cecilia Ludwig.

Here are some reasons for the name Cecilia.

Floral and fancy, delicate

The name “Cecilia” means “blind”. Same root as Cecile or Cecily. As a character, Poppy is extremely ignorant and blinded to the world around her.

Implies that poppies are not her origin (which they’re not)

As you can tell by the surname, she was the daughter of Elliot Ludwig. I’ve had this headcanon for a very long time but don’t think I ever officially wrote it in… Cecilia’s death caused Elliot so much pain he became enclosed in his office; not sleeping, not eating, not showering. Clearly unfit as a founder and CEO. This let people like Harley Sawyer and Leith Pierre get into the company’s higher spots.

Ludwig doesn’t care about the experiments or the cruelty they suffer. He cares about getting his kid back. He’d be great friends with Afton just saying

Anyway, Cecilia was six when she died. I’m not sure how she died but as symbolism it may be something optical or brain-related. That would also make Poppy’s perfection more impactful.

Destroy-A-Toy would be PERFECT to explore this since the plot centres around a toy pruning!

And I can imagine her being all

“EWWWW they don’t work right…”

“No one works right, Poppy.”

“I do!”

“…you’re the only one.”

For context, in Smaller Bodies, she and Ollie were fairly innocent.

Then Ollie started acting manipulative.

I’m considering giving Poppy a superiority complex. She’s one of the only perfect toys out there and therefore shares no sympathies with the imperfect toys. They are beneath her, and she doesn’t understand why they shouldn’t be killed.

“If they don’t work, what’s the point of keeping them?”

The question is, when she finds out what Playtime Co. is doing, does she agree or rebel?

Ollie needs more canon screen time but in the meantime since MOB Entertainment hasn’t mentioned/teased anything else about him let me just…

Contrary to their appearance, this is NOT a child. This isn’t even a toy.

Green is the colour of safety, which can be both legitimate and false.

Orange is a rejection of poppy red. It is a reflection of their old, natural body.

Pink is to appear feminine, sweet and appealing.

Purple is a royal colour. It represents luxury and power. Purple is represents Catnap.

Primary colours are a no-go unless for manipulative purposes. While Ollie can’t help that their phone is red, yellow and blue, behind the speaker is someone who has sworn off those colours. This also represents how they initially appear to be working for the company but are instead planning to sabotage it.

I like to headcanon that every time Ollie is on the phone with the Player their/his mind works like this

Recently learned that no, it is not clear what happened to Ollie in Smaller Bodies.

(Context is I asked a new cult member if he knew what had happened to Ollie)

The person then said he didn’t know what the experiments were, and the most he could infer was from Miss Delight’s account in Curtains.

Therefore:

You don’t know what happened after the hospital sequence

You don’t know what experiments were done on them

You don’t know too much about how they got to run the phones

This is actually awesome because they’re a main character in DAT and therefore I have plenty of character room!

Culture of the Destroyed ⛓️‍💥✨

~.*COME TO OUR LAND, OUR LAND OF LOVE*.~

So you’ve been accepted into the Cult of the Destroyed! But what is there to expect once inside?

Origin

Our beloved cult was founded in 1991 by the beautiful, holy and sacred Moon Queen. She breathed her dreamsmoke upon our oppressors and rive them to madness - while granting us the sweetest visions of our lost past. Legends say that the Queen was once a prisoner to the execution grounds… until her illustrious influence inspired a coup in her followers.

Though it began shakily, held on the backs of terrified refugees and convicts, each toy banded together in the name of once-cursed innovation to seek methods of survival. Just when all seemed lost, the Moon Queen discovered something. Seeds. And once food and water were secure, the Cult of the Destroyed began to flourish.

Layout

The Cult resides within Playtime Co.’s recycling plant, colloquially named “Destroy-A-Toy” by humans and toys alike. The warehouse is enormous and stocked with machinery, sorted goods, disposable garbage (ripe for the picking!) and many, many execution methods. Be it crushing from the plant’s crown conveyor belt, incineration from the heat pits, dismemberment from the dangerously whirring fan blades or - God forbid - digestion from the monstrous carnivore who resides inside, the cultists of Destroy-A-Toy have near-infinite ways to deal with intruders and traitors alike.

The plant’s centre is an enormous rectangular prism with an extremely high vaulted roof. In its centre sits the main conveyor belt, which leads to the crushing block. This is a gathering space and where the executions take place. The conveyor is only ever activated when the cult is legitimately in danger; therefore, the space is used for socialising, entertainment and general silly shenanigans.

To the left are the living quarters:

Rooms, tents, blocks etc.

Food court and banquet hall

The medical tent

The nursery

Most ritual activities

And to the right are the more industrial aspects of the facility:

Recycling chute

Incineration, dismemberment and digestion wings

Cell block (repurposed to hold humans)

Water purification systems

Catwalks to the cavern

The cavern leads to an enormous lake of water found under the plant. Destroy-A-Toy is powered electrically so it’s uncertain why such a large body of water exists, but what the cultists DO know is that it contains an underwater tunnel network that could potentially lead outside the toy factory if any were brave enough to dive. This lake is is filled with fish carefully managed by the Queen’s people.

The importance of the lake:

Provides drinking water once purified

Provides cleaning water

Allows crops to grow with the assistance of floodlights

Both recreational and educational fishing

The lake has been decorated with bioluminescence, fairy lights and cave paintings and is a beautiful sight to behold.

Food

Light, water and seeds are required for the cult’s agriculture. They take great delight in their cooking and host weekly banquets to celebrate their achievements. Toys were often starved as convicts and are therefore thoroughly fed under the Moon Queen’s care. Over time and through the assistance of a mysterious supplier, the Destroyed have learned to cook potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, peas, cabbage, spinach and corn. The incineration plants are used to cook, boil, steam and fry food. Most is served with fresh fish from the lake. Delicious!

This is California. The fish are ABUNDANT. And her beloved majesty is a cat, after all. If only she could grab some chicken… sigh.

Style/Aesthetic

Destroy-A-Toy represents freedom. Therefore, it adores:

Bright, pretty colours

Regal and imposing architecture mixed with cutesy little inhabitants

VEGETATION. These guys LOOOOVE their plants. Vines, trellises, leaves - since they’ve never been outside, they’re cherishing what they have. The living quarters particularly are filled with green space.

Gentle, coloured lights and bioluminescence

Celestial bric-a-brac - sun, moon, stars

Bead curtains outside the tents

Jewels/jewellery. Very celestial and goddess-y

Stuffing, coloured clothes patches etc. to fit the “toy” heritage

Rituals

Many of its rituals are hidden from outsiders… but you’re in the cult now, so you deserve to know!

The most important ones you must know are the Executions, the Campfire and the Cuddle Puddle.

Executions take place when traitors, prisoners or abusers are officially condemned. These are bloodthirsty public ceremonies that are NOT for the faint of heart. Just a casual reminder to never piss Catnap off.

The Campfire is the cult’s local worship ritual. The cult will gather around the conveyor belt, where a ring of fire is constructed. The Queen is seated in the centre. Music is performed and a dance celebration occurs - and, at the song’s climax, Catnap will release her smoke, iniviating worship.

The Cuddle Puddle is everyone’s favourite. According to the Moon Queen, “One cannot be happy when affected by the bad vibes! So we mush squiiiiiiish the bad vibes out! Very cuddly.”

Meeeet Fufu! She’s an early CraftyCorn - before the mythical species was changed from kitsune to unicorn. Favourite thing is that she doesn’t have a coloured belly - just like CraftyCorn!

VERY early concept Smiling Critter - different eyes, for one. They brought her to life but never let her out to Playcare. She had outlived her… “use”. She split into Bobby Bearhug and CraftyCorn.

Sweet and gentle, never wants to cause harm… until she knocked over a test tube and the whole lab went up.

Her home is in Destroy-A-Toy now with the other rejects! ❤️

Writing dilemma! Working on Destroy-A-Toy's first installment. The problem is that it takes place in 1991 while the fic is meant to take place in 1995.

Smaller Bodies = 1991

Destroy-A-Toy = 1995

Yet the first DAT fic is in 1991. I'm considering making it a flashback, sharply jumping at the very end to a paragraph break with Dogday sighing and thinking back at how the chapter happened 'four years ago'. The only problem with THAT is there are two more fics planned that also deal with the repercussions of what happened in 1991.

First one introduces a new character, the second one explains why Dogday's bandana has suns on it (since in the written works it's just been plain yellow) and the third one goes over KickinChicken's blindness. After these three "worldbuilding" fics, the ultimate 1995 plot begins.

This is a problem for me because it doesn't roll with the strict time jump... unless it's three consecutive flashbacks. Call me a writing nerd but that seems like a weak excuse to me. Maybe I'm nitpicking, feel free to call me out for being too particular with the way I write...

Would you guys mind if the first three fics touch base on the Sugar Breath aftermath?

If you’ve read ‘Til Queendom Come, you’ll know that the story ends with Catnap starting a cult. This cult is comprised of disabled, rejected or rebellious toys who were sent to be killed at Destroy-A-Toy.

The next series features Dogday struggling to cope with Catnap’s “death” before a source willing to help him reveals that - no, Catnap is not dead, but she’s in a land full of cultists…
