Hugo first came to the moon elf palace to steal it’s treasure. He found something far more valuable instead. 

I love her design as “moonsandra” so much and with that cape i couldn’t resist to try to redraw her.

Do any of the tangled kids have any love interest later on in their teen lives?

AHHH OK THIS IS A FUN ONE!!! i technically don’t have defined future partners for any of them yet, but i’ve definitely have a few thoughts surrounding this idea

first of all!!! ryder is aroace, emery is a grayromantic sapphic, and alina doesn’t care much for labels but if anyone asks he just says he’s bi.

alina doesn’t get crushes often but when she does she Does Not Know How To Handle It. shes very closed off but analytical, so he tends to observe more than anything and study their behavior much more than usual, trying to know best how to impress them or connect with them. it makes him seem kind of weird sometimes and definitely leads him to overthink easily AHDJASJS. ryder is his number 1 wingman

em can be bubbly and talkative but incredibly practical, so it takes them a while to truly open up to people. shes got Abandonment Issues (tm) but they’re very easily flustered and when people actually see them past their front they collapse and die immediately. they’re also a huge hopeless romantic which is usually the biggest surprise to other people, considering 1. their dads are Themselves and 2. they rarely experience romantic attraction but they LOVE sappy romance novels and big romantic gestures and fairytales with picture perfect endings

the 3 of them always band together to help with the others’ crushes tho, since they tend to be mostly on their own w that stuff….don’t get me wrong their parents are obviously incredibly loving and supportive of them and they appreciate them very much but they are. Not good at relationship advice of any kind

if any of them ever asked how to confess to their crush they’d be like “wait u actually want to ask them out??? like now??? this isn’t just your last resort???” “..yeah????” “….ok yea i don’t think i can help you there sorry”

once when alina was like 13 he had some weird ass rivalry with a girl at school and literally nobody could be normal abt it

I feel that Rapunzel and her Dad's issues relied too heavily on demonizing Varian as their problem. True he kidnapped the Queen, but their was more going on with them before Varian lost it on them. I dislike how defeating Varian is treated as solving the issues between them.

Honestly, all of Frederic’s shortcomings are too easily explained away because the show uses Varian as a scapegoat. Frederic hiding the knowledge of the black rocks until they are literally starting to destroy the captial? Somehow he convinces the angry townspeople to turn against the one person actually working on stopping the rocks. Frederic sending disguised guards to harass Varian in his already destroyed home? Completely overlooked in favor of Rapunzel just being angry about being lied to. Even Rapunzel uses Varian as an excuse to lesson Frederic’s actions when Frederic even dared to try to take responsibility for his mistakes.

Varian didn’t cause the rift between Frederic and Rapunzel. It was Frederic’s lies that caused that rift. It’s Rapunzel’s inaction until she literally couldn’t not ignore the black rocks that’s part of the problem. The townspeoples’ rage about the black rocks destroying their homes and livelihoods shouldn’t have been “solved” by directing that anger on a single teen. Frederic was WAY more responsible for the conflict in S1 than Varian was. All Varian did was allow his sorrow turn into rage, borned from the desperation that was forged by Frederic and Rapunzel actions and inaction.

Also, Frederic and Rapunzel has had their issues with each other before Varian was even induced to the series. Frederic was already understandably overprotective of Rapunzel, while Rapunzel felt like the kingdom of Corona just became a larger tower for hun to hide her away. Rapunzel comparing Frederic to Gothel for that brief moment was the true conflict between the two of them. Varian was just a boy who wanted to help when it was clear to him that no one else was trying to stop the rocks. Whatever weird obsession the show has in portraying Frederic as this “poor and misunderstood, soft-hearted” father just makes his character suffer due to not letting him develop.

I was trying to draw Eugene and drawing a goatee without it looking like a barcode is actually difficult give Varian some credit-

Y'ALL ANOTHER STUPID HEADCANONS JSJDJFJ

So like, in a modern au, Varian lives in like a farming village with his dad that is like two hours away from the city. Rapunzel and Eugene (since they would be a part of the government technically) would live in some kind of a mansion along with Rapunzel's Parents (Rapunzel's dad could be like a mayor of something) but later, Rapunzel and Eugene buy a little cottage near the borders of the city. Not too far away from the city, but enough to get away from all the chaotic noice, just somewhere calm. And Varian lives with them! Somewhere at a time (like what would the equivalent of season 3 be) he moves in with them into the cottage. And every weekend, he goes to his dad's. Also, since they live on a farm, Varian always brings back some fresh, quality fruits and vegetables for his friends. When he goes to his high school in Corona (where I imagine he met Hugo, Yong and Nuru), he always brings them some of the food, especially for Hugo, who never really got the luxury of having fresh, nice food like this. He usually east most of it anyway JDJDKKF

YALLLL here are some random vat7k headcanons that nobody asked for but i wanted to get it out in the world :D

- Hugo constantly teases Varian about his height even though Varian is the second tallest person in the group

- Yong sometimes joins Hugo in the teasing even thought he's like over a head shorter than both of them

- Varian doesn't usually laugh unless it's like a nervous laugh or something but Hugo manages to make him burst out laughing often

- Yong is the best cook in the group and often is the one cooking their meal (Varian is the second best and sometimes helps him, Hugo and Nuru can't cook for shit JSHDJD

- They all often sleep in one bed/tent together. At first they had to do it so they wouldn't spend too much money on inn rooms and would just get two big beds or even just one

- But after a while they got so used to it they do it on purpose so now they can't sleep without the gang cuddles 😤❤️

- Hugo is a very touchy person and sometimes. just like. sits on Varian's lap. Only ever to tease him and/or fluster him and only ever for like a few seconds, and at first it annoyed Varian but when he started crushing on Hugo, it got him FAINTING.

- At the beginning of their journey, Hugo had a lot of trouble being a team player and looking out for other people and just like. always did his own thing. he didn't understand why it was such a big deal at first. He can pick up his own slack, no one needs to worry about him and he needs to worry about no one. (He's a Toph kinnie) He thought that's just how the world worked.

- But the group started calling him out for it, saying that if he's gonna be with them until the end of their journey, he needs to learn how to work with people. Hugo gets defensive and they all start arguing. They tell him that they care about him and that he can't just "do his own thing" while they're running away from something or fighting someone, that they want to keep him safe, they want to keep each other safe,

- But Hugo just has a hard time believing that someone would care about him enough that that they'd risk their own lives to save him (and this could lead to some potential angst, or fluff, or both lmao)

- Hugo never tasted many kinds of food, especially for example candy (since they probably wouldn't have that much in the iron kingdom and it would be expensive too, and i doubt that Donella bought him any sweets)

- So when the gang discovers this, they secretly buy candy and exotic food for Hugo saying that they just bought it for the whole group so he wouldn't think it's for him but they kinda give him mist of it

- Hugo's favourite Candy is caramel and marshmallow

- Hugo also very much enjoys Varian's hot cocoa

Aaaaand I think this is all i can remember right now but I probably have more somewhere deep in my brain hsjjfkfkfk, let me know if you'd like to hear more headcanons or if this was useless! :D
