(I made simple drawings of my comfort characters to try finding/refining my drawing style so I’m posting them as a series! Comfort characters part 1.) Rapunzel my darling girl, whom I love with all my heart and adopt as my niece.

I think Rapunzel will deep down always be my favourite Disney princess no matter what. I saw this movie in the cinema when it first came out when I was a small girl and was utterly obsessed. I remember I saw the movie in 3D and wanted to try grabbing one of the lanterns but knew I couldn't. I also drew a little picture book of a bunch of scenes from the movie and would tie scarfs to my hair and then stand by my window with the scarfs hanging out. I wanted TO BE Rapunzel so bad. Tangled will probably always be my favourite movie because all the memories it brings back. I've probably seen it 40 times but it never gets old. I know this movie word for word honestly. If anybody wants to start a chain in the comment section that's just the whole movie script that would be great.

I absolutely adore Rapunzel’s short brown hair but I think long golden hair makes her way more recognizable. So for the sake of my drawings, I came up with a head canon that her hair eventually will grow back golden but this wasn’t discovered in the movie because Mother Gothel would repeatedly cut the small brown piece of hair behind Rapunzel’s ear so she didn’t have to look at it and be reminded that she kidnapped this poor girl.

Also ironically I really struggled to get Eugene’s nose right (iykyk)

ROTBTFD Fic Idea

So I was feeling nostalgic for when this fandom was a thing and Harry Potter was still alright and I’ve decided to summarize an old fic idea I had back then.

It starts in a basic Hogwarts AU setting, with the Big Four in their friend group, plus Anna. Jack and Elsa are kind of a thing; Rapunzel and Eugene, and Anna and Kristoff, are fully dating; and Astrid and Hiccup are definitely not. It’s that thing where Hiccup does his best to avoid the rest of the teenagers from Berk, which in this world is a small magical island village off the coast of the UK. (Think where A Thing of Vikings has it located.) The basic dynamics of all those stories.

Anyway, something or other happens and the group of five friends end up performing a spell that goes wrong and they accidentally pull their counterparts from a different dimension to their world, plus whoever were in their immediate surroundings. Of course, I’m talking about their movie versions. This ends up with Hiccup and the gang (I’m thinking sometime after HTTYD 2 and ignoring 3 because I hate it), Merida and her three maybe suitors (I just imagine her dragging them into misadventures because I think that’s a fun idea and she needs friends), Rapunzel and Eugene (I’m working with the theory that she’s cousins with Elsa and Anna so they all know each other), Anna and Elsa and Kristoff (and maybe Honeymaren and Ryder, I go back and forth on whether to have Frozen 2 be a thing), and finally Jack Frost and Peter Pan (this comes out of no where but I really like the idea of Peter being a spirit and acting as Jack’s little brother figure since Jamie is long gone by this point).

All the movie versions exist in the same world, some post post apocalyptic one where at some point civilization collapsed and started over, this time with magic being far more abundant. Jack and Peter are something like 3,000 to 5,000 years old. They hide as soon as they get to the Hogwarts world because they were in the middle of a fight with some shadow spirits or something who make a break for it towards the Forbidden Forest, they’ll spend most of the story dealing with rounding them up and staying hidden while everything else is happening, maybe.

The story is mostly going to be about the clashing dynamic of the groups. Like the movie versions don’t really know each other as anything but fellow nation leaders (I also kind of imagine there being some hostilities between the Highlands and the Barbaric Archipelago to add tension), while the teenagers are all close friends. Hiccup’s relationship with the Dragon Riders is nothing like the strained relationship of his counterpart (and he and Astrid are married), same with Merida and her suitors. Everyone is just really different and I thought it’d be fun to play around with them meeting each other.

At some point, towards the end, Jack and Peter finally reveal themselves and they know how to get back to their world. This will have the biggest changes because unlike everyone else, they’re a different species from their counterparts and ridiculously older. There’s absolutely no romance between Jack Frost and Elsa. Also depending on if this includes Frozen 2, Elsa has maybe been helping Jack and Peter in her role as a bridge.

It’s a lot of vague ideas and a general sense of a plot that I will never write because it has way too big of a cast to balance and is beyond my abilities. But I do still think it’s a fun concept.

WHAT IF...

So, I saw this one post about how Hans looks a hella lot more like Rapunzel and Eugene than any other character. There was a theory that Hans could be Rapunzel and Eugene's kid, but then that theory obviously got blown out of the water due to that one coronation scene where Rapunzel herself attends the coronation.

BUT

What if...

Hans WAS Rapunzel and Eugene's kid? What if, in the future, when Anna gets married and has children, her child attacks Corona, Rapunzel's kingdom? We've all seen classic examples of kids not taking after their parents, and this could very well be a good example. What if her kid killed the royal family - Rapunzel, Eugene, their other kids (Hans' brothers), and only Hans managed to escape? What if he went to the one tower where his mother had told him that she had been imprisoned? What if the horse who helped him escape despite being stabbed in the side, took him to the same place where it had taken Eugene all those years ago? What if Maximus, while helping Hans escape with his dying breaths, took him to Rapunzel's tower? What if Hans buried the horse after its death and climbed into the tower?

We've all seen that scene where Rapunzel reads the same 3 books again and again. But there's more books on the shelves. What if those were the books that Mother Gothel used to learn witchcraft? What if HANS learns witchcraft? He's in the tower, miserable, defeated, but he knows this place holds some strange importance. He goes into rooms, and finds the books. Wanting to distract himself from his present helpless situation, he reads, reads, reads, and learns witchcraft? What if he finally realises that the key to saving his kingdom need not lie in meaningless battle, but in going back in time and stopping it from ever happening? What if he learns magic and sorcery, so that he can go back in time? He knows he can't kill Anna, that would be ruthless (im imagining him as a good person here). So he decides to woo Anna instead into marrying him.

So that the child of Anna that destroys his kingdom never existed.

Hans obviously has good genes that make him look young, since he's Rapunzel's child. He could easily pass off as a much younger man than he looks. He plans to use his witchcraft to travel back in time to Elsa's coronation, and marry innocent Anna himself. It might cost him a lot, but his family and kingdom would be saved.

By the end of Frozen, he realises that Anna and Elsa are going to die.

And he realises that that could be the key to saving Corona.

Because while using so much magic, his sanity has snapped. Everything has a price, and the price of him learning magic was his humane conscience.

Which is why, by the end of the movie, he's ready to let Anna and Elsa die, so that their ancestors are never born.

your honour I am simply stating that, regardless of magic flower, rapunzel and eugene would still fall in love because in an Aladdin au rapunzel would sneak out at night to take care of her kingdom, and Eugene would see her crown and take his chance, and they would instantly fall for each other. no I will not take any questions

First piece submitted for me this year! I wanted to do Debmund piece with the pair cosplaying as other pairs, whether canon or not that inspired them. I do feel while I most likely have some that are left out whether intentionally or not, these are the ones I feel had the most important impact on the process I had with these characters. My intent was to one, have fun with the cosplay aspect of it and two, to provide something to the people that like my character. I want to make a fanfiction with my character in it someday and finally provide closure for some people. Until then though, this is just something to show my thought process as I developed the ship in my headspace over the years. I also finally have closure on making Harold and Rhonda as Ares and Aphrodite! Woo, that was a clear connection that I wanted to do for so long. i'm just curious bc i'm watching How to Train Your Dragon and i always forget how happy and calm it makes me feel. i mean, i did name my cat after Toothless the dragon. but i also love Lion King, that's my Disney comfort movie. and my Ghibli comfort movie is Spirited Away. watching any of these when i'm in a foul mood or my anxiety is high always helps 🥰 but i watch them just for fun too, not only when i'm in a mood. what about you?

Happy 10th Anniversary to Tangled– A movie that’s meant a lot to me since I’ve seen it. It’s inspired me, brought people into my life, spawned a tv show that I hold dearly and made even more friends and wonderful acquaintances through, and given me a character I see a lot of myself in. A lot’s changed in 10 years, but my love for Tangled and Rapunzel herself sure hasn’t!
