Something powerful for you today.
I'm starting a collection
Juneteenth is about Black people who were officially technically supposed to be freed from enslavement. Nobody else. Nothing else. It's not a POC day. It's not a "freedom for all" day. It's Black folk, Black culture, Black emancipation, SPECIFICALLY. Any other observation for Juneteenth is gentrification.
Ismael Cruz Córdova is getting harassed (he's playing Arondir in LOTR: Rings of Power)
Every. Time. Every single time a black actor plays a character of importance in any given franchise, these """fans"""" just crawl out of the woodwork and harass them.
He was already being harassed. For two years, prior to the show's release. Two years.
He shouldn't have to go through this.
I've been trying to see fan reactions to the series, and all I see are people throwing temper tantrums and having racist meltdowns, saying their favorite franchises are "ruined," and "smeared," and whatever else word they can use that isn't diverse. Actually, they're outright saying they don't think black people belong in the show at all.
Support Ismael Cruz Córdova, because I can only imagine how much shit he's going through right now.
Hell, I'd be hype for this even if it weren't a true story!
Marvel really said we gave you the big three (aliens, androids, wizards) now we giving you homegrown people to hate. The flag smashers are there too.
Can we talk about this person thread? Aka Captain America: Civil Acrylics😂😭. These memes are officially out of hand lmfaooo
