Juneteenth is about Black people who were officially technically supposed to be freed from enslavement. Nobody else. Nothing else. It's not a POC day. It's not a "freedom for all" day. It's Black folk, Black culture, Black emancipation, SPECIFICALLY. Any other observation for Juneteenth is gentrification.
AN: This AN used to say something SOOO different LMAO but I wanted to update it. I’ve only got Shuri x Reader stuff tagged on this masterlist. If you’re looking for Erik ‘Killmonger’ Stevens or M’baku fics, search their name x reader in my works and they should come up. But tbh most of those are from YEARS ago and I really don’t like their quality anymore, hence them no longer being listed. I don’t really have any rules, I’m a student so pestering me about updates really isn’t gonna result in that update coming any sooner. My requests are always open, but I don’t always do them and they’re mainly just there for inspo. With all that being said, hope you enjoy my dear <3 Updated: 05/03/23

Summary:
Fresh on the heels of a contentious divorce from King T’Challa Udaku of Wakanda, Ororo “Storm” Munroe attends a U.N. function honoring the work of the Avengers golden boy, Captain America. She invites the Wakandan Ambassador, and Head Petty King, Prince Erik Killmonger to be her date and pretend boyfriend knowing full well that her ex-husband T’Challa and his new girlfriend Nakia will be there. During a formal dinner, enemies of Captain America attack the function forcing Ororo, T’Challa, Killmonger, Nakia, Cap, and the Dora Milaje to work together to save civilian guests and international dignitaries. In the middle of the chaos, Storm realizes that Erik Killmonger might actually be the one…
“See I know what we’ve got to do You let go (you let go), and I’ll let go too (and I’ll let go) ‘Cause no one’s hurt me more than you And no one ever will…”
Lauryn Hill – “Ex-Factor”
Ororo Munroe pulled down on her white off-the-shoulder dress to make sure that her thighs weren’t too revealing. She purposely chose the Kenyan couture look because it made her silky dark mahogany skin pop with her silvery-white hair. She flat-ironed her curly mane before braiding it into several long braids the week before. When she undid her handiwork, her tresses cascaded down her back like a soft cloudy dream.
“I hope these damn speeches don’t drag on tonight,” a gruff voice said next to her.
Ororo glanced to her left in the back of the private SUV.
Prince Erik Udaku…actually, Ambassador Erik Udaku-Stevens, sat next to her with his lip twisted into a scowl as he stared out of his passenger side window. Erik’s dark locs were twisted in three thick cornrows tied in the back. His suit was tailor-made by the finest sartorial hands in Birnin Bashenga, an eastern city in Wakanda. He sat his right hand on his knee and she saw the onyx and vibranium ring on his finger that once belonged to his father, the beloved N'Jobu Udaku. The Rebel War Dog. Erik’s feral eyes met hers and a sly smile crept over his lush lips as he took in her dress.

Our system is broken. It is cruel. It is dehumanizing, degrading, and it’s vile nature is so, so unnecessary.
We need universal healthcare today in America. We needed it 40 years ago. It’s cheaper, it’s simpler, it’s more efficient, it’s more effective and it is so, so, so much less cruel than what we have.
Additional sources/references:
Universal Healthcare Cost in America would be cheaper by trillions of dollars
The US has worse life expectancies than socialized healthcare countries
We have worse generalized healthcare results
We have the most expensive care
Our system is so cruel and unique that doctors from other countries literally can’t believe what happens here
I can’t tell you where or how to activate to help solve this. There are politicians, groups, and activists pushing for this in so many ways. I can tell you when, though.
Now.
