I hope someday someone is as big a fan of me, as I try to be to the people I care about.

One thing Feyre does a lot trough the series, after she leaves Tamlin, is that she constantly compares Tamlin to Rhysand. One of the things that made a big impression on her is how Tamlin said to her how there wasn’t a HL but then Rhysand made her one(undeserved). 

But the funny thing is that in the 4-5 months she spend in the SC (after UTM) as Tamlin’s consort she was WAY more loved and respected than she is as the HL of the NC for 3 years now.

Lucien is sweet and kind in a way that none of the other male characters of Acotar are. All of these horrible things have happened to him, his friends and family have betrayed and thrown him aside multiple times, and he still wants to help. He still wants to fight for those who are even weaker then him, and just be a good person regardless of how it could benefit him.

He has nothing and no one and he still tries.

Thoughts slammed into me, images and memories, a pattern of thinking and feeling that was old, and clever, and sad, so endlessly sad and guilt-ridden, hopeless—

Like Rhys, he usually opted for words to win his battles.

No wonder he’d been so eager to head alone into Velaris that day he’d gone to help us research. I shot a look at Rhys. Seems like Lucien can still play the fox.

“Lucien can’t be entirely trusted anymore.”. “Lucien might mean well, but any reports would be skewed—even if he isn’t aware of it—in their favor.

Lucien stared out the window—as if he could see the lake across a sea and a continent. As if he were setting his target.

“Eyes can be blinded,” Nesta said. “Not the ones under my command,” Azriel said with soft menace.

“There are others in your court as delusional as you are. They’ll get it for me one way or another, with the right incentive.

I'd be surprised if we don't get a super clever scheme in Elucien's book, courtesy of Lucien.

SJM has previously said Dorian and Lucien would be great friends and we know that Dorian was not only extremely powerful with raw power that be could shape as he desired but he was also very cunning. In KOA, he took two of the Wyrdkeys and tracked down Maeve to find the third. Maeve asked Dorian to work with her, explaining that she wants the keys so she can get rid of Erawen and his brothers for good.

Dorian agrees, asking her to bring the spiders to his side and he will marry her, giving her a new Kingdom to rule over.

In a later chapter, Maeve slips into Dorians mind, using her powers to control him but the entire time he's been tricking her, using her own power against her (a Valg!) to learn how hers actually work, taking over her mind instead.

There's already notable similarities between Dorian and Lucien, their polished persona's, their fathers both had them held down and forced them to watch the execution of the woman they loved, unknown magical powers, hints at Lucien being extremely powerful as Dorian was powerful, and their intelligence.

SJM has also pointed out how Rhys and Lucien share a likeness in how they use their words to fight battles and we know Rhys often schemes, having others question his intentions only to find out he had some wildly clever plot going the whole time.

I could easily see her having Lucien do something similar. Maybe he'll have a plan for Koschei or the Human Queens that he didn't inform the others of, something Elain becomes suspicious about and starts following him (Mr. and Mrs. Smith anyone? It would be even better if this followed the arranged marriage trope 😂).

The others acknowledge Lucien is clever and insightful yet they still underestimate him. You can tell they look at him as a tool for when it benefits their own purpose rather than viewing him as an equal, a force to be reckoned with.

I'd also love if it led to Az eating a bit of humble pie. He's so certain of Lucien being unworthy, imagine if Lucien managed to outsmart Az and his shadows.

lucien was always described as somewhat a ladies man before the mating bond snapped into place for him. “I’m a mated male now,” he stated after, and we have yet to see him break his word. to see him remain loyal despite his complicated relationship with elain is so attractive, especially considering he used to be a flirt.

I feel like the reason the blood duel got brought up in ACOSF was because it’ll actually be between Helion and Beron.👀 I firmly believe Helion and LOA are mates & no one can convince me otherwise.

Oh I’d pay good money to see Helion fuck Beron up to defend his lady!

I am also of the belief that they are mates and that is why Helion is without an heir (that he’s aware of) and never married or otherwise mated.

As nice as it would be to see Helion kill Beron I think the honour should ultimately fall to Eris or Lucien as they are the people who have suffered his shit the longest and are also important players in the story. Maybe Eris and Lucien will bond over killing their father and start to heal their relationship.

Do we already have a week dedicated to Eris cause if not there definitely should be one

I’m pretty deep in the autumn court rabbit hole so I wanted to share a few things I’ve noticed/decided on that will be included or part of Exile (which is having a name change but it’s what we’re working with atm):

The Autumn Court is likely culturally European (more specifically it is an amalgamation of Britain and France).

Why? Of all the people we know from The Autumn Court (Beron, Eris and Lucien), two out of three of those names are French and additionally Beron is also from the Old English word Baron.

Then the name Vanserra is made up of ‘Van’ and ‘Serra’.

‘Van’ can be both a given name and a Dutch prefix, ‘Van’ is a Dutch prefix meaning ‘of’ or ‘from’.

‘Van’ as a given name is derived from the English surname ‘Vance’ meaning ‘marshland’.

‘Serra’ is derived from the Latin word for ‘saw’, and later Italian.

The naming traditions in Autumn are ultimately rooted in Latin origin; as are both the French and English languages. Both are heavily reliant on Latin as the origins of the majority of their words.

Therefore culturally, I believe Autumn has a very distinct European feel (think the English and French Courts circa 1500-1600)

In terms of politics and court relations.

Aesthetically I think Autumn is once again the union of French baroque/rococo and English country manor.

Lots of greenery and sprawling gardens; jewel tones with architecture inspired by Versailles and the French Courts.

Fashion I think Autumn would favour heavier and more modest dresses that The Night Court to both accommodate the colder weather and the ceremony of court life.

Lots of Autumnal tones and colours, damask fabrics and intricate needlework.

The men all wear beautiful tunics and robes that are a mix between Tudor style doublets and the long coats of the Rococo era. & lots of riding boots.

Of course at the timeline of the acotar series Autumn still worship The Mother and the creation story involving the cauldron.

But there are those in Autumn that still worship the Old Gods or the First Gods, primordial spirits of the forest and land.

Distinctly Pagan vibes; heavily inspired by Celtic paganism & the festivals celebrated by the Romans (these two things might seem very different but share a lot in common)

Even though these Old Gods are not worshipped widely anymore in Autumn, their festivals are still a large part of the culture and way of life in Autumn.

The celebrate the equinox, solstices, and special holidays that honour specific stages of the life cycle/seasons (they celebrate, the spring, the harvest, the winter solstice, the summer solstice, and then festivals to honour the gods of the forests, and hunting goddesses)

All very nature focused and giving thanks for all the earth provides.

A lot of these festivals and the rituals performed during them is a celebration and a time to give back to the earth.

Lots of campfires and ritual dances, oracles and prophecy.

& drinking!

Oh before I forget! The Vanserra motto is ‘vulpes pilum mutat, non mores’ meaning ‘a fox may change its skin but never it’s character’

Eris’ own personal motto is ‘le tiemps viendra’ which translates to ‘the time will come’.

this might be an unpopular agreement, but i really don't think many of the high lords would've cared that rhys is half illyrian! helion legit flirts with cassian and azriel every time they're in the room lmao. and thesan's lover is a faerie so... why would they care?? the vast majority of tamlin's court is made up of faeries, and he clearly didn't care when that faerie was brought in during the first book. tarquin is... well, need i say anything? this man's entire character revolves around how he doesn't give af about high fae v. faeries. beron is probably the ONLY one who'd actually give af that rhys is half illyrian. i think you could maybe argue that tamlin, in his current characterization, would be prejudiced against rhys bc of it, but they also used to be friends so...

and i don't think kallias cares since he used to be close allies with the night court. like, rhys pulled that shit out of his ass so feyre doesn't really everyone hates him because he's just a fucking asshole lmao.

like, rhys is just trying to play the victim, but he made his own choices and now he lives with the consequences. instead of taking responsibility, he's just gaslighting himself and everyone around him into thinking he's just an uwu victim of the high lords' prejudice.

i see and hear and know about so many atrocities and it’s just so overwhelming. how can people stand by as these things happen? how can people do these things? and i’m not just talking about things on the national, or global scale. how can people cheat on their partners? how can they stand to hurt someone like that? how can people be abusive? how do people rape and beat and murder others in cold blood? how do leaders turn a blind eye to the suffering of their people? how can a parent manipulate and abuse their child? 

how can anyone do anything horrible and not feel as if their brain is being ripped apart? how do their hearts not feel as if they’re being stretched to a snapping point and crushed all at the same time, when they hurt someone?

and at the same time,

i see and hear and know of such boundless love, such all-encompassing, unconditional adoration, and i know how i feel it for others, but i can’t possibly imagine someone feeling that way for me. and for this, i feel so arrogant. so self-absorbed. i’m ashamed at how sometimes i feel as if no one, never in the expanse of human existence, could ever feel these things as raw as i can. how only i bear the weight of the world, how only i feel as if all the suffering and weeping of the world is projected onto, into, my heart, and how my heart so often feels as if it’s combusting from all this.

Vanserra hair is red. Yes. My headcanon is that Vanserra hair takes on the tone and flickering quality of the flame source cast upon it. So when lit in candlelight, it takes on the colour and flickering of that flame. Does this make sense?

Sooooo when Nesta's flames are cast, Vanserra hair becomes silver, taking on the colour and movement of her flames.
