You know how we're getting like...so much content on the owl kids right? But we aren't getting literally ANY info on the owl crew on the boiling isles? None at all? It's a little worrying?? And I didn't even hear anyone mention it??? (• ▽ •;)

Like, they're just giving us a bunch of content of the owl kids whilst not wanting to spoil too much, so they're probably putting the less intense stuff in there, but they're not putting anything abot Eda and co...so that probably means that that stuff is like really intense or something right?

A little sneak peek at my next short fic project...

Luz's head hurt.

Her ears hurt and wouldn't stop ringing. One eye hurt and couldn't seem to focus on anything. The inside of her skull hurt and her brain was stuck looping the chorus of that Carly Rae Jepsen song that played on the radio so often, it had to be doubling back through the space/time continuum for chronologically inadvisable exposure. A song couldn't possibly be played 28 hours a day, but Call Me Maybe sure managed it somehow.

What was she doing lying flat on her back in the middle of the parking lot, listening to some girl incessantly singing about her crush, anyway? And why did it feel like she'd just gotten her ass royally kicked by said crush's pickup truck?

Shoes slapped the pavement, growing louder. Someone was running up to her. Maybe she was hogging the good spot in the parking lot and other people wanted to lie here?

"Luz! Holy crap, are you all right?" The owner of the voice swam into sight overhead, accompanied by a slightly translucent exact duplicate who phased in and out of his body like he was performing history's least enthusiastic astral projection. Like, stepping outside his body, but the way a cat stood just on the threshold of an open door waiting for their human servant to turn off the bad weather.

It's hard to look right at ya, baby. Yup, you said it, Carlie. Now can you shut up?

But stranger than that was the feeling that she ought to know who this was, but didn't. Could a face evoke the same feeling the way a word did when it was right on the tip of your tongue and wouldn't quite make that last step out into something you could say, so you wound up sputtering and looking like you had a sneeze stuck in your sinuses? Like, it was just barely out of reach, and she could swear she knew him, but the phrase coming to mind was snot puddle, which wasn't helpful.

Well, astrally projecting or not—which, probably not, but she wasn't gonna say so and potentially hurt his feelings—he looked decent enough. Black kid, maybe a little younger than herself, hair back in a combination of afro and a top knot, and a uniform that sort of matched the one she was wearing if you discounted the illusionary twin he had going on. He really ought to get that checked out.

"Luz!" Out came a phone as if by magic and, yup, he was dialing the magic number that made ambulances appear and finances disappear. She tuned in with half an ear—the other half was hearing you took your time with the call, I took no time with the fall—as he explained that he thought she'd been hit by a car, which, no, it was Carlie's would-be boyfriend's truck, hello. Apparently put on hold, he checked in with her again. "They asked if you think you can move or if your neck might be hurt."

Move? Well, her neck felt all right for the most part. To be honest, everything hurt at least a bit, but it was her head that felt like she'd just squared off with a territorial hippo. Luz experimentally rocked herself back and forth a couple times, then threw her momentum forward and sat up. She meant to let out a sarcastic whoo of triumph, but sitting upright promptly made the world spin so violently that she settled for a sound like a wet alley cat.

"Okay, she was able to sit up, but she's not looking too hot," the guy and his astral projection—scratch that, there were three of them now!—reported to whoever was on the other end of the phone. "She's got a bad gash over one eye and I don't know if she's really with it. Hold on, I'll check—"

He covered the receiver and asked, "Do you think you need to go to the hospital?" Then, with a frown, he added, "Did Amity do this?"

Hospital. Nope. Her mom would kill her if she was anything less than dead before winding up in a hospital. With an effort of will, Luz put on her most reassuring smile and laughed nonchalantly. "I'm fine! Who's Amity?"

This did not go over as well as she'd hoped.

As usual, time for a little expansion after the Blaze burns out. ^_^ I actually had never intended to write Willuz content, but discovered midway through the scene where they first meet that I had crafted two versions of these characters who needed each other very badly. I take it as a major compliment how many people have admitted that they don't ship Willuz, but love the way I've written them. Of course, the fact that I'd begun this fic for Lumity content and still intend to make it happen does mean something's going to have to change, doesn't it? Maybe folks would be interested in reading along to find out how that develops...

Yes, yes he would.

Luz puts on some movie thinking it’s a horror but is actually a gore fest and she’s lowkey horrified. The others seen stuff on the boiling isles but even they have their own limits. I think he’d find practical effects gore scrumptious looking the same way we find ghibli food tasty looking, it’s all too perfect looking. He’s of course very much ashamed of it

Watching and Dreaming, Late Redemption AU

I decided to redo this comic not because I don’t like it but because I believe could do better on the art and story telling of this AU now that I have a better grasp of what I want.

Context, this is a late redemption au of Hunter where certain canon events don’t happen. This is shortly after Belos death. Hunter has his possession scars because it played out in a much different way. Sadly this also means very slow burn pittwins siblings.

Once I have a few more posts a master list will be made in timeline order, so like separate tides to post-canon. Though the story will be nonlinear :3

Anyways rather than going with Hunter in this Au, Flapjack ended up staying with Luz. They aren’t technically bonded since they can’t communicate but Flapjack hangs around and lets her use his staff form but Luz does end up getting stringbean in the future. Most importantly, he lives in the end! As for what happened in Hunting palismen and any relationship development with Hunter, that will come when the time is right :))

Also maybe don’t try to find the angry ex child soldier whose ‘uncle’ you’ve killed on you own, just some advice. Also I realized the angle makes it look like Hunter is kneeling so pretend he was collecting something when Luz found him, I think he’d have a good grasp on potions and stuff considering that was his hexside uniform of choice.

You said you wanted asks about the Late Redemption AU and !! yes! Wish granted! I am so incredibly curious about Luz's thought process about this scarred-up teenager who's actively hurting her friends. She seems very empathetic still in the post-finale art, but considering he seemingly succeeded in giving her friends sigils in the alternate Labyrinth Hunters art, is there ever a moment where she views him as completely unredeemable? Or is she still insistent that he's just being manipulated and can still be helped?

She definitely has her ups and downs in regards in how she feels on Hunter. In the start she didn’t like him (separate tides- hollow mind). She saw him as another Belos lackey or just a fancy scout. Bad but not evil. Once the sigil incident happened, she absolutely hated him, she was full of anger because he quite literally gave her friends stamps for slaughter(even if he didn’t know). However after King tide happens and she sees Hunter defending Belos even as the spell actively drags him down does she realize just how wrong it is, that he this loyal even when being killed.

He’s being killed by his only guardian and he doesn’t even know it

She tried to reason with him in the fight but he refused to listen, too desperate to stop them from fighting Belos and defending him even as Belos also swipes at him in blind anger. Escpically when she realizes that he’s is around her age and no child should ever be at this state.

I imagine during Thanks to them does she have some conversations with her mom since things are a bit more intense in the timeline and some conversations about abuse and abusive adults does she start making some connections but she still doesn’t quite like him.

Que for the final where Belos is finally gone, all that is left is the Golden guard in his broken, scarred state. She starts seeing the ugly picture for what it is, an abused child who just doing what he knew to make his guardian happy.

So, it’s both. She saw him as an unreadable monster to then someone who was abused and used. She wanted to help him even if she was still mad and he didn’t want it.

Of course once that wonderfully late redemption/recovery arc begins, does an actual friendship start to form.

Toh Hospital Au

(I’ve never actually watched any hospital dramas before)

This is just a adult human Au except with a focus on medicine

Luz, an oncologist, was determined to be one after the passing of her father.

Amity, pediatric rheumatologist, inspired by her own hand pain. Was originally going to be a dermatologist to make Odalia proud but met Luz in college after becoming roommates with her and changed her plans into a field she was actually passionate in. Pediatric because is Amity good with kids.

Vee is a RN in the ER. She good at adapting at different situations which is good for more high stake places like the ER. Her and Luz are sisters of course with Camila very proud of them both. She’s adopted. She didn’t want to go to medical school so decided on being a nurse instead. Worked in the hospital longer than Luz.

Gus is a patient advocate, he would be good very successful at his job and passionate on helping his clients receive the best treatment he can. He’s taken many clients with Luz.

Willow is sports medicine physician because it’s in her interest in athletics and helping others. She definitely still a plant addict and they cover her house and garden.

Hunter is a cytopathologist. He had a tough past (understatement) and was pretty isolated in college and medical school. He thought it would be the same in the hospital since he already took a no live patient job until he transferred to a different hospital and met Luz in the Cancer unit when diagnosing some patients. Where she invited him to hang out after work and they became friends along with the others.

They all look like older versions of their post-canon looks since they’re all in the mid 30s, except Gus who is like 31 to 32. Hunter still has his scars except their burn scars instead of possession ones. Luz and Amity are married and live together. Belos died sometime in Hunter stay in medical school and Amity, and her siblings are no contact with Odalia

Stringbean in a normal snake that Luz got from a rescue, Emmiline is a normal chameleon Gus recused, ghost is a normal cat Amity got in college, Clover is a bunny rescue( I’m not giving Willow a pet bee I’m sorry, instead her fathers do bee keeping as a hobby). Flapjack a cardinal that just lives with Hunter, like one day he showed and didn’t leave, he basically made Hunter his pet. Also Waffles does the same thing a few years later (because I love her). Flapjack lives longer than the average cardinal due to Hunter basically taking care of him. The other laugh when they find out he basically has two wild birds living with him.

Belos was pretty abusive to Hunter growing up until Hunter fled for college after realizing that it wasn’t right how he was treating him. He tried going no contact a few times but always broke it untill Belos eventually passed away while he was in medical school after succumbing to an illness. Belos was a successful pastor. (He was the owner one of those mega churches n stuff.) Hunters parents are Caleb and Evelyn. Caleb was killed by someone “unkown”, Evelyn died from an accidental overdose when Hunter was young, where Belos got custody of him rather than the Clawthorne family. The burn scars came from an “accident” in middle school for Hunter.

Gus went to high school early and had a hard time with people not taking him seriously in both school and even when doing his job ( no body cared in college) but was able it receive support from his friends and push forward.

They all met in college and became friends (except Hunter who went somewhere else). Amity and Willow here childhood friends before Amity began bullying her in middle school where they went to separate high schools. Gus and Willow met in high school and were also roommates in college.

Other notes,

Viney is a general practitioner, puddles is an absurdly large pigeon she has.

Emira is a paramedic.

Other characters are not in the medical field like Edric who’s a small animal veterinarian, Lilith who is a historian, and Eda who is a store owner.

Again this is basically my Human realm Au with emphasis on the medical field.

Fun little MLP Au

Hunter as a pony!

So basically, everybody in the human realm are earth ponies. While in the boiling isles realm they are unicorns or Pegasus. Human realm ponies look like normal ponies while the ponies in the boiling isles look more like the last unicorn styled ponies with, longer ears, “rat tails” , and split hooves.

Both realms can get cuties marks. However, cutie marks are looked down upon in the boiling isles as you are expected to have a sigil instead. If a pony has a cutie mark it’s typically covered by the sigil. If you refuse to get a sigil it’s considered disobeying the Titan and emperor like in canon. Leaving your cutie mark be is a sign of a wild pony. Eda still has her natural cutie mark. Sigils like in canon restrict the type of magic that can be used.

Unicorns and Pegasus both use magic since magic comes form the bile sac into the horn or wings. Though unicorn magic tends to be more precise while Pegasus magic is loose. Unicorns can practice levitation or flying spells and Pegasus practice precision

Palismen act as magic aids and instead of turning into staff, they wrap around the horns and wings, they can summon fake wings or horns for their user and help unlock magic they may be limited to. Which is why they are looked down upon though many ponies can still have them like in canon.

Hunter despite having all the characteristics of boiling isles pony ( longer ears, rat tail, split hooves ) was made without a horn or wings as he made from a human realm pony/ earth pony. He was told this was a birth defect by Belos. So his artificial staff is instead his artificial horn which also has a concealment stone attached to make him more imposing and hide scarring.

Luz doesn’t have a cutie make and spends canon trying get it while also learning magic. She gets it by the end of the series of course. Many characters have cutie marks like Amity and Gus but it’s fine since their still young but are expected to conceal it once they choose a coven.

Hunter head canons #4

These head canons focus on Hunter home life. They next one will focus on Hunter life in Gravefield in general.

After the finale I imagine Hunter actually staying in the Human realm for bit since things would be pretty chaotic in the demon realm. Especially regarding the Emperors coven. Realistically I can’t imagine many witches or demons happy with the ex Golden Guard, Belos right hand man walking around freely, especially with emotions running high. You know almost being killed then having the collector take over, then almost being killed again.

Just imagine all the legal and ethic issues, (will get to this another time)

Camila basically being Hunter’s mom now. I personally don’t think Darius should be Hunter parental figure. I think Hunter should be with someone who hasn’t harmed him, especially after years of trauma and another major traumatic experience happening to him (looking at you Thanks to them). Hunter can reconnect and be friends with Darius another time. I also think Darius would be more focused fixing the demon realm then accommodate Hunters needs. Right now Hunter needs a guardian that will give him what he needs.

Anyways

Once hunter moves into the Human realm, I imagine Vee staying with him in the basement for a while since he’s afraid of being alone. (Everyone is scared of leaving him alone too). I imagine they develop a close bond with each other, different from how they bond with others, since they are both basically Belos, abused, illegal creations. After awhile they trust him to be alone.

Luz often stays at the demon realm and on those nights, Vee and Hunter swap rooms. Vee liking the basement due to how open it is and Hunter liking to smaller room. I imagine Hunter liking cramped, smaller spaces like closets due to how open the throne room was. Vee liking open spaces due to being forced into cages. Vee probably also constantly keeps doors open and probably showers with the door open too. (Might do some Vee head canons too!)

Mirrors had to be covered for a bit due to Hunter being unable to stand the sight of himself again. They teach him how to love himself again like how he did in “Thanks to them”. Though they do sometimes catch him staring deeply at his scars or brown eyes.

Him a Vee are often spotted hanging out with each other, with Vee often leaning on Hunter. When on the couch she’ll rest on him or lay her head on his lap. In return, during the sleep overs, Vee will curl around Hunter. I imagine Hunter being both a big and little spoon.

Hunter often goes to bed with Camila on bad nights. After all he never received that comfort before in the castle. He’s hesitant at first due to being “too old” to be resting with an adult. Camila insist that no one is to big for their moms. Hunter definitely doesn’t cry at this.

Different bonding stuff with Hunter Noceda :)

We all know that Darius taught Hunter to sew properly and it ended up becoming a hobby of his. Camila sees this a teaches Hunter to knit as well. Soon Hunter is knitting all sorts of things like beanies, sweaters, bags, etc. Hunter learns other crafts like crocheting, embroidery, weaving, ect. That boy is very crafty.

Camila shows that Hunter doesn’t just need to sew cloths but that he can also sew things like stuff animals, clothes for animals, and other neat stuff. He quickly becomes obsessed with making clothes and accessories for Palismen

Hunter starts volunteering at the Vet clinic and animal shelter with Vee and Camila and quickly realizes he has a bit of a affinity with Animals..

Hunter and Vee both like watching TV and bond together that way. They both like horror due to them being a bit desensitized but won’t watch films that focus on torture (saw sequels, hostel,ect) but they do like 90s and 80s horror. However they stoped watching Horror that has to due with possession after the ‘incident.’ They also like comedies though Hunter gets confused by the jokes and Vee has to explain it to him (even if she also doesn’t understand, she tries).

Hunter and Camila bond with 70s and 80s punk rock music. Bands like Green Day, Sex Pistols, Misfits,ect. Luz introduces him to the world of fandom music like FNAF or BATIM and he quickly becomes hooked. Also vocaloid. Vee likes metal and shows him all sorts of genres and songs, from alternative metal like Korn and System of the down to death metal like Cannibal corpse and Carcass. He prefers Punk but will happily listen to the music with her.

Hunter manages to drag Camila back into her Cosmic Frontier addiction.

They all go to cons together! Comic con, Anime con, sci fi con, ect. They do family cosplays!

Luz and Hunter draw together. Luz is surprised to see Hunter can actually sketch pretty good. He isn’t very good with fine details or color but he drew stuff in journals relating to wild magic, flapjack, Belos and battle plans. He good at sketching buildings, beasts, and plants. He can draw witches forms real good but struggles in finer details like faces, clothes, ect. Unlike luz’s character heavy art. While luz draws with pencils, markers, color pencils, and acrylic paints. Hunter is a charcoal, ink, and color pencil and water color type if guy. He draws a lot of animals, especially wolves. He makes to many wolf oc’s. He has folders full of drawings and extensive lore on them. Luz teaches him how to make drawings expressive, in return he teaches her how to draw buildings. They make collaborative art with Hunter doing the backgrounds and Luz adding characters.

Luz gets hunter hooked on Warrior cats and Balto.

Luz and Hunter exercise together. Or at least try to. Luz as she got used to an active life style in the boiling isles and Hunter due to being used to vigorous training. However this oftentimes turned into ‘Hunter basically torturing Luz’ session as he can be intense. Like getting up at 5:30 am and being like “you wanna run 6 miles with me” or “lets do 20 circuits”. Luz at first tries keeping up at first in disbelief before noticing Hunter also tends to overwork himself during these sessions. After a while she and the others convince him he doesn’t need to due all this, especially if it’s hurting him. Soon he starts waking up at 6:20 am and works out in a easier way to maintain. He and Luz are now able to go on comfortable jogs and hikes together.

Luz teaches Hunter and Vee how to ride bikes after realizing neither of them could. Hunter takes his bike safely very seriously.

Camila teaches Hunter to drive and he gets very excited as it’s like flying a ship. The whole family often go on drives together and blast on music.

Hunter becomes a history nerd with both Human history from do research on Gravefield and the Demon realm after him and Lilith discover historical text that Belos hid away. Hunter learns more about the history of Grimwalkers rather then just the biology and myths. (Spoiler alert, it’s not a very happy, will dive into it). He tells Lilith a lot about Human realm history. They slowly become friends through info dumping.

Hunter learning how to cook with Camila. He makes food for his friends and family! He’s decent at first, after all this guy definitely had survival training. He probably knows how to gut and skin certain beasts. Likely offered to do it for Camila when she talked about needing to buy food. She kindly declined his offer.

Hunter loves Camila’s cooking, he never had such homemade meals. He often had MRE’s or fancy cooked meals when attending dinner with Belos sometimes. Those were hit or miss. Sometimes going great or sometimes ending with him being poisoned or abused in some sort of way. When Luz says she wants fast food, Hunter is like “why? Mo- Camilas food is so good”. He loves his mamas cooking

Hunter making stuff animals infused with herbs and flowers (like lavender) and potions for calming effects. He makes them for his family and friends. He even starts selling some in the demon realm when tensions calm down.
